Hyundai Tucson general information (Hyundai Tucson / Tucson)

First Hyundai car Tucson class SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle), which means "car for active recreation" (in Russia, cars of this class are called crossovers), was shown in February 2004 at an exhibition in Chicago, and its official premiere took place in March 2004 at a motor show in Geneva. The car is produced for Hyundai factory Motor Company, located in Ulsan ( South Korea). In addition to this, the company plans to start producing the Tucson car in 2008 in the city of Nosovice (Czech Republic). In the European car market Hyundai Tucson offered in GL, GLS and LX trim levels.
Only the GLS package with three levels of equipment is supplied to Russia. The basic equipment package includes power windows and all doors, velor or leather interior, automatic climate control, central locking, dimming rear-view mirror with built-in compass, air quality control system, automatic control of external lighting (automatic switching on of headlights), alloy wheels , electrically heated mirrors and front seats, protection engine compartment. For a surcharge, cruise control, fog lights, roof rails are installed.
Station wagon body, load-bearing, all-metal, welded construction with hinged front fenders, doors, hood and tailgate. For Russian market Hyundai Tucson cars are equipped with two located across the engine compartment gasoline engines: four-cylinder in-line DOHC engine displacement of 2.0 liters and six-cylinder V6 displacement of 2.7 liters. The 2.0-liter TCI diesel engine provided by the design is supplied only to the American and European markets. In this publication, the engine design is described in most detail using the example of the DOHC engine as the most common in Russia, the differences are others. engines are specified.

On cars for the Russian market with a DOHC engine, a 5-speed mechanical box gears, and with a V6 engine - a 4-speed sequential (with manual control) automatic transmission SHIFTRONIC. Both gearboxes are interlocked with transfer boxes, since cars are delivered to Russia only with permanent drives on the front wheels and with automatically connected all-wheel drive type Torque-on-Demand, equipped with an interaxle clutch with electronic control(with manual override) from Borg-Warner for connection rear wheels. In addition, not all-wheel drive cars (only with front-wheel drive) are supplied to the European market, but only front-wheel drive to the American market. MacPherson type front suspension, independent, spring, with stabilizer roll stability, with hydraulic shock absorber struts. Rear suspension independent, spring, multi-link, with anti-roll bar, with hydraulic shock absorber struts.
The brake mechanisms of all wheels are disc with a floating caliper, and the front brake discs are ventilated. AT brake mechanisms the rear wheels are equipped with drum parking brakes. All vehicles are equipped with anti-lock braking system (ABS) with optional Traction Control System (TCS) and Dynamic Stability Program (ESP).
Steering safety, with a rack-and-pinion steering gear having a variable gear ratio, equipped with a hydraulic booster. Steering column- adjustable in tilt angle. A frontal airbag is installed in the steering wheel hub (as well as in front of the front passenger). Additionally (on request), side airbags are installed for the driver and front passenger, as well as inflatable curtains located on both sides of the ceiling above the front and rear doors. Hyundai Tucson cars are equipped with a centralized door lock control system with locking all doors with a button on the driver's door, as well as a button on the key fob. All vehicles are equipped with retractable diagonal seat belts for the driver, front passenger and rear seat passengers.

Design features
Hyundai Tucson cars intended for the Russian market are equipped with transverse four-stroke gasoline injection engines: four-cylinder 16-valve in-line model G4GC (DOHC, 142 hp) with a displacement of 2.0 liters and six-cylinder 24-valve V-shaped mod. G6VA (V6, 175 hp) with a working volume of 2.7 liters. The G4GC engine is equipped with variable valve timing for intake valves (CVVT). This section describes in detail the design and methods of repairing the engine. G4GC engine as the most massively installed on cars. The design and some aspects of maintenance and repair of the G6BA engine are given in a separate section "Design features of the G6BA engine".
The G4GC engine with overhead two-five overhead camshafts has four valves per cylinder. The exhaust camshaft is driven by a reinforced toothed belt. Belt tension is provided tension roller. The intake camshaft is driven by the sprocket of the CVVT mechanism mounted on camshaft exhaust valves, a single-row roller chain, the tension of which is provided by a spring tensioner. The valves are driven directly from the camshafts through cylindrical tappets, in the upper grooves of which calibrated washers are installed, which serve as adjusting elements of the gaps in the drive.

Lubrication system - design features
The lubrication system is combined: the most loaded parts are lubricated under pressure, and the rest are lubricated either by directed spraying or spraying of oil flowing from the gaps between the mating parts. The pressure in the lubrication system is generated by a gear oil pump mounted externally in front of the cylinder block and driven from the front end. crankshaft. The pump is made with internal trochoidal gearing.
The pump sucks oil from the engine oil sump through an oil receiver with a strainer, and then through a full-flow oil filter with a porous paper filter element delivers it to the main oil line located in the body of the cylinder block. Oil supply channels to the main bearings of the crankshaft depart from the main line. Oil is supplied to the connecting rod bearings through channels made in the body of the crankshaft. A vertical channel for supplying oil to the camshaft bearings departs from the main oil line. In addition, from the main engine oil line, oil is supplied under pressure to the variable valve timing system and to the intake camshaft drive chain tensioner.
To lubricate the camshaft bearings, oil from the vertical channel enters the central axial channels of the camshafts through a radial hole in the neck of one of the bearings and is distributed through them to the rest of the bearings. The camshaft cams are lubricated with oil coming from the central axial channels through the radial holes in the cams. Excess oil is drained from the head of the block into the oil sump through vertical drainage channels. Engine oil change and oil filter described in "Maintenance", "Changing the engine oil and oil filter", removal and installation of the oil pump are discussed in the next subsection.

    INTRODUCTION

Hyundai Tucson is named after the North American city in Arizona. In the language of the indigenous people, the Pima Indians, the word "tucson" means "spring at the foot of the black mountain."
This representative of the SUV class combines the best performance for everyday use with solid off-road performance. It has a sporty appearance and a power reserve for active driving.
The fast-paced and eye-pleasing look gives the car the decisive masculine features that buyers traditionally want in an SUV. Its main advantages are versatility and practicality. The front view is very impressive. The Tucson has a relatively large front grille, as well as headlights that blend in with the hood lines and fender flares. The front bumper is a large, large molding that starts immediately from the grille down, it has three large air intakes and two fog lights (on models where they are), and then forms a spoiler from it. The appearance of the Tucson is noticeably enlivened by alloy wheels, roof rails and protective plastic lining on the body and bumpers. A special sporty chic is given by the twin tailpipes of the exhaust system.
Adds confidence 195mm ground clearance, which allow us to prove in practice that the “off-road look” is not at all a hoax for future owners.
The car has a permanently connected all-wheel drive and, when driving on dry asphalt, up to one hundred percent of the traction force is transferred to front axle. If necessary (for example, in a turn or when skidding), connect rear axle, and off-road, at the touch of a button, you can switch to the mode of forced symmetrical distribution of traction between the axles.
Behind the athletic exterior lies a comfortable, exceptionally functional interior. One of the distinguishing features of the new SUV is a spacious interior, in which the driver and passengers will feel very comfortable. Convenient and functional dashboard, the steering wheel does not cover the instruments, everything is in plain sight. The indication of the sensors is visible even when the sun hits them. The instrument panel contains three elements, with a large speedometer in the center and smaller tachometer and fuel gauge on the sides.
The rear row of seats fold down nicely. And when you transform the backrest, the cushion moves, allowing you to form a completely flat surface - very smart and comfortable. The front passenger seat can also be folded down, providing space for long items to be transported, or creating a comfortable table for a lone driver. Walls luggage compartment trimmed with plastic, the grid and socket are not forgotten. Large luggage compartment space can be hidden with a solid luggage rack. A large, washable rubber mat covers a hidden storage area under the floor. There are six load securing elements on the side of the vehicle to secure the load, as well as three bag hooks. Glass back door opens, which is very convenient when the car is loaded with a "tie-up".
In Russia, the car comes with a 2.7-liter V6 DOHC engine with 175 hp. and a 2-liter four-cylinder DOHC CVVT engine with 142 hp. Both engines run on 92-octane gasoline and are combined with a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.
McPherson-type independent suspension at the front and an independent multi-link at the rear create the right mood in the process of movement. On the move, the Tucson is easy to handle and, despite its high seating position, is able to maneuver well over a wide range of speeds.
Safety is provided by crumple zones and airbags, both front and side, along with curtains. Plus, the standard package includes many electronic systems(ABS, EBD, TCS, TOD), as well as full power accessories, audio preparation and much more. For an additional fee, you can install a tire pressure sensor. In 2006, the car received the highest rating of "5 stars" from the National Safety Administration traffic USA (NHTSA).
The simplest package includes climate control, ABS, radio, heated front seats and mirrors, roof rails and engine compartment protection, as well as fog lights, power windows on all doors, alloy wheels. It is possible to install additional options.
Hyundai Tucson is designed to become a symbol of success, freedom, youth and sporting spirit. Decently representing the Hyundai line, this car has become its own in the league of light SUVs, while maintaining a small gap in price from its more famous and "hyped" classmates. And this is its peculiarity and advantage.
This manual describes the operation and hyundai repair Tucson, both petrol and diesel engines since 2003: A necessary condition for the reliable operation of any vehicle and the safety of personnel is the strict observance of repair and maintenance instructions. The methods and descriptions given in the Manual provide general principles for performing repair and maintenance work using effective techniques and methods.
The applied methods and techniques for performing work, tools, fixtures and used spare parts, as well as the degree of skill of the performers are very diverse. It is not possible to give instructions or warnings for every case of performing work in this manual.
