Mitsubishi galant 9 what machines. Mitsubishi Galant sedan

midsize cars Mitsubishi Galant were produced in 1969–2012, during which time 9 generations of the model appeared. Although the line was discontinued 5 years ago, the cars latest generations continue to actively operate, and the repair or replacement of the Mitsubishi Galant engine remains a popular service.

Features of Mitsubishi Galant engines

Different generations Mitsubishi cars Galant were equipped with 4-cylinder in-line (I4) engines of the following series:

  • Saturn (4G3) - gasoline with a volume of 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8 liters with a capacity of 87 to 125 liters. from.;
  • Astron (4G5/4D5). Model 4G52 - gasoline ICE volume of 2 liters with modifications with a capacity of 100 and 125 liters. from. A number of modifications of the 4D55 model are diesel atmospheric and turbocharged engines with a volume of 2.3 liters, with a capacity of 65 to 95 liters. from.;
  • Sirius (4G6/4D6). Petrol 4G62 - 1.8 l, 4G63T - turbocharged, 2 l, 4G64 - 2.4 l, 4G67 - 1.8 l., 4G69 - 2.4 l, diesel - 4D65 - 1.8 l, 4D68 - 2 l .

Also on a number of models, 6-cylinder V-shaped engines (V6) were installed:

  • 6A11 - 1.8 l / 133 l. from.;
  • 6A12 - 2 liters, there were several modifications with different power - 143-148, 170-177, 197 liters. with., the most powerful in this line (237 hp) was an engine with a double turbine;
  • 6A13 - 2.5 liters, 161-173 liters. from. and a model with a double turbine - 276 liters. from.;
  • 6G72 - 3 l / 195 l. from. for the US market.

The most famous engines used on the Mitsubishi Galant are the 2-liter 4G63. From 1989 to 2003, various modifications of this engine were installed on Galant cars. Since 1987, production of DOHC versions with 2 camshafts has begun, engines with 1 camshaft (SOHC) continued to be produced until 1993. Turbocharged 4G63T variant in 1988–92 was used on the Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 and brought this model a number of victories in international rallies.

The 4G63 engine used MCA-Jet technology, the abbreviation MCA in Russian stands for "Mitsubishi Clean Air". This is how engines with reduced emissions of harmful substances were designated. The first MCA engine appeared in 1977, the 4G63 is a modified version. Its distinguishing feature is the presence of a small third valve on each cylinder. These valves provided additional air flow to the combustion chamber, resulting in faster movement and complete combustion. fuel-air mixture. After the advent of 4 valves per cylinder engines, the MCA-Jet system became obsolete, but it remained progressive throughout the decade.

At present, engines for Mitsubishi Galant of 8–9 generations are mainly in demand, their characteristics are shown in the table:

Typical problems, malfunctions and their causes

Mitsubishi engines of different series have different vulnerabilities. What kind of breakdown the owner will have to face depends on which engine is installed on the Mitsubishi Galant.

Sirius series (4G63, 4G64):

  • often jams the balancing shafts, which leads to a break in their belt, such a breakdown can cause a break in the timing drive. The problem arises if the shaft bearings do not have enough lubrication. You can prevent it by buying high-quality oil and regularly monitoring its level. Belts also need revision and periodic replacement;
  • supports (pillows) wear out quickly, which is manifested by increased vibration. Therefore, regular checks and replacement of pillows are necessary as needed, the left support of the Mitsubishi Galant engine mount is especially subject to wear;
  • RPM fluctuates frequently at idle. This is due to contamination of the injectors, throttle, failure of the idle speed controller and temperature sensor. To prevent such a problem, you need to regularly clean the system and check the health of small components;
  • after 50 thousand kilometers, hydraulic lifters may need to be replaced, they fail faster in turbocharged engines. Use not quality oil and his untimely replacement lead to accelerated wear of hydraulic lifters;
  • the oil receiver of the pump in these models is located almost close to the crankcase wall. Therefore, a blow to the pan can cause deformation of the oil receiver, the pump will no longer receive oil and supply it to all moving parts of the motor. To prevent such situations, the crankcase protection of the Mitsubishi Galant engine will help.

Series 4G9 (4G93, 4G94):

  • engine knock is usually associated with the wear of hydraulic lifters and is eliminated by replacing them, the use of high-quality oil prolongs their life;
  • tendency to carbon formation and high oil consumption (popularly - zhor). As the mileage increases, oil consumption increases; to solve this problem, replacement of oil scraper rings and caps is required;
  • floating speed is usually caused by contamination of the high pressure fuel pump filter and throttle valve, they need to be cleaned;
  • if the engine stalls when hot, the idle speed controller is most likely defective and needs to be replaced.

The 6G7 Cyclone V6 (6G72, 6G75) and 6A1 (6A13) series engines often have the same problems as the 4G9 inline 4-cylinder series - knocking, oil consumption, floating speed. They are caused by the same reasons, not only the wear of hydraulic lifters, but also turning connecting rod bearings. In general, V6 engines are more reliable than in-line ones, they have fewer "congenital" diseases, but due to their design they are less convenient to maintain. It is more difficult to change candles, and they often need to be replaced if the car is refueled with Russian gasoline. Misfiring is often caused by deposits on the electrodes. It is also difficult to access the timing belt.

The main enemy of engines is low-quality fuel and lubricants. Engines with direct injection (GDI) are especially sensitive to dirty fuel. A common problem with this type of engine is contamination. engine oil soot. Soot is actively formed when the engine is running in transient mode. The channels through which the lubricant is distributed are clogged, soot enters the intake manifold and disables valves and spark plugs. If the intake manifold is not cleaned every 50–40 thousand km, the engine smokes, consumes more gasoline, and traction deteriorates. It is extremely important in engines with GDI to change the timing belt without waiting for it to break. Otherwise, pistons with a non-standard bottom will collide with the valves and deform them.

The main types of repair work

Mitsubishi Galant car engines may need to replace the following parts and consumables:

  • hydraulic compensators;
  • oil scraper rings and oil caps;
  • timing belt or chain, tensioner roller gaskets, rollers themselves;
  • valve cover gaskets, cylinder head, engine seals, crankshaft, camshaft, engine filter, oil and fuel filters;
  • idle speed controller, various sensors.

If the fuel or oil pump fails, it is not necessary to change it, you can try to repair it. A crack, for example, is brewed. When replacing spark plugs in V-engines, it is recommended to inspect the intake manifold flange and grind it if necessary.

With regular routine maintenance, cleaning, replacement of consumables, use of high-quality gasoline and oil, the Mitsubishi Galant engine can serve for a long time without major repairs. The fact that it needs major repairs is indicated by a combination of such signs:

  • increased fuel and oil consumption;
  • noise during engine operation;
  • power drop;
  • unstable turnover.

If the problems could not be fixed after optimizing the settings, repairs are needed, during which work such as:

  • restoration of cylinder mirrors by boring or honing and selection of oversized pistons instead of native ones;
  • replacement of piston rings, main and connecting rod bearings;
  • if necessary - turning the crankshaft journals;
  • valve maintenance;
  • refurbishment of starter and alternator.

If the car owner can perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on his own, then it is better to entrust the major repairs to professionals. With a lack of qualifications and experience, even the Mitsubishi Galant engine diagram will not help to repair it without errors.

Parallel to overhaul engine, it is recommended to repair and service the cooling system, replace hoses, drive belts, water pump, thermostat, cleaning and repair of the radiator. It may be necessary to replace the radiator of the cooling system, engine mountings, oil pump. Depending on the condition of the cylinder block, it is sometimes more cost-effective to change it entirely than to sort out and restore it. If more than 50% of the engine parts need to be replaced, it is easier and cheaper not to repair it, but to replace it with a remanufactured or contract one.

Buying a rebuilt engine is a rather risky decision, you need confidence in the qualifications of the master who was involved in the restoration of the unit, and in the quality of the parts that were used. The contract engine for Mitsubishi Galant from the Japanese autodismantling is more reliable. The Japanese do not overload their cars, fill them with high-quality fuels and lubricants, cars with low mileage often get into dismantling, and the resource of the engines removed from them is quite large. After removal and before sale, contract engines are tested at the stand.

Since the resource of the series Mitsubishi engines Galant exceeds 400 thousand km, many owners of these cars do not have to deal with the need to repair or replace the motor at all. But you need to remember that an untimely oil change, the use of low-quality gasoline, neglecting regular maintenance significantly reduces the life of even the most reliable engines.

Most of the cars have a conventional front-wheel drive and mechanical and automatic boxes transmissions that have long been known, for example, by Lancer. Manual gearboxes- these are F5M42-1 and F5M42-2, automatic boxes are represented by transmission options own design F4A42, aka INVECS-II, and with 2.4 GDI 4G64-4 engines and supercharged V6s of the 6A13-7 series, they installed both a five-speed automatic transmission W5A42-2 and a more powerful W5A51-3. Another five-steps are sometimes found on Japanese all-wheel drive Legnum with a 1.8 4G93-G engine.

I do not consider the most exotic options with YAC simply due to the fact that, with a low prevalence, there are no objective data on operation. Yes, and there is little information on the operation of all-wheel drive versions. Although it is unlikely that surprises can be expected from them: they contain the same components as on Lancer Evo and first Generation Outlander. BUT transfer boxes manual and automatic transmissions are unified and interchangeable. And this means that everything is quite simple and reliable.

In the photo: under the hood of the Mitsubishi Galant V6 "1998–2001

It is extremely easy to get confused in the Galant/Legnum/Aspire configurations, there are many of them, they differ for different markets. And the interchangeability of transmission units is very limited. Unless you can buy a manual transmission by learning only the gear ratios. But even here we must not forget that for turbocharged and atmospheric engines, different variants bells for different locations of the starter. And if you take boxes for all-wheel drive cars, then there may be too many surprises.

Pictured: Mitsubishi Aspire "1998–2003 Pictured: Mitsubishi Legnum "1996–2002

Automatic transmissions are not electronically interchangeable, and even the cases of boxes may differ depending on the motor, drive, year of manufacture and steering wheel position. Installing a "limited compatibility" box requires good understanding from the master, which is increasingly difficult to meet in our time.

And don't be surprised by the prices for contract boxes. They often look strange: they seem to be the same box, but the difference in price can be three times. Often the reason lies in the demand and scarcity of certain gearbox options, and not just in the greed of suppliers.

Mitsubishi is one of those manufacturers who do not save on transmissions. Almost all cars have gearboxes that digest the engine torque with a margin. Only boxes that work in tandem with tuned 6A13-7 and turbo version 4G63T will fall into the risk zone. In all other cases, transmission failures can only be the result of a run of under half a million kilometers, oil loss, shock or unsuccessful intervention during minor repairs. For an automatic transmission, overheating is added, no oil changes, a torn gas turbine engine or wear of its blocking linings to the ground. And now about everything in order.

Mechanical five-speed gearboxes F5M42 and W5M51 proved to be quite reliable. Of course, only if the oil level is maintained and there are no hard overloads during slipping and drifting. With runs under 200 thousand, the average driver has a gradual wear of the second-fourth gear synchronizers and even difficult switching on, but with slow switching, the problem practically does not bother. The switching mechanism loses its former clarity over time, the cables begin to turn sour, but if the car has not been standing for months, there are almost no such problems. And do not forget about the presence of dual-mass flywheels on GDI motors, which also require repair or replacement over time.

Automatic transmissions are mainly represented by four-speed F4A42. This is a box of the company's own design, but the design clearly gravitates towards the Chrysler automatic transmission, which has long been owner of Mitsubishi. The design turned out to be very successful and long-playing. A close relative of this box was installed on Hyundai Solaris Russian assembly before restyling.

The F4A42 resource with careful maintenance and careful handling is almost endless. In any case, these boxes, subject to the replacement of solenoids and scheduled repairs of gas turbine engines, serve even more than 350 thousand. The F4A42 version is distinguished by the presence of an external oil filter, which is best changed at every MOT, well, or at least every second. The internal filter is changed only when the automatic transmission bell is removed, which means that it will be replaced only when the box breaks.

The heat exchanger in the main radiator copes well with its duties on 2.0 and 1.8 liter engines, but with 2.4 and 2.5 liter engines on running automatic transmissions in the summer it may not be enough, and then the temperature will exceed 120 degrees at normal city driving mode. In this case, it is better to install an additional automatic transmission radiator, which will be much cheaper than its bulkhead.

In addition to the wear of the solenoid package and the lining of the gas turbine engine, there are a number of weak points. First of all, this is the thrust needle bearing of the Overdrive series, as well as wear and even breakage of the input shaft. And on cars with a 2.5 liter engine, with which these boxes were installed before restyling, the splines of the GDT driven shaft, which are cut off under load, cannot withstand. Fortunately, all these troubles appear mainly on all-wheel drive versions of automatic transmissions after drifting or slipping, or when shifting gears with shock due to valve body problems. Well, or with the loss of oil, which, unfortunately, is a common occurrence for these boxes. On older cars, at the first sign of cracks appearing on the oil cooling tubes of the automatic transmission, replace them with new, re-compressed ones. And change the box seals in time.

The five-speed gearboxes of the F5A42 / W5A42 family are structurally similar to the four-speed ones, but on weak engines they have a better mode of operation of the gas turbine engine, a longer resource of its blocking linings and less chance of overheating. Usually they have less wear on the solenoids of the valve body, basically only the pressure control valve wears out. But the mechanics of the box are more sensitive to overloads, especially since they are installed with powerful motors, including V6. Here, during overloads, you can already see the breakdown of the Direct drum shaft, as well as the front and rear planetary gear sets. Due to the lack of oil pressure on age boxes, it is often necessary to replace the bushings and repair the oil pump with runs over 250 thousand. The differential is also loaded more heavily, and there are more chances for its failure. In general, these boxes are stronger than the four-stage ones and, all other things being equal, are in the best condition. But they are most often put on all-wheel drive cars with powerful engines, where a quiet life does not shine for them. But fortunately, these boxes were installed on newer models, so there are no special problems with contract units.

Here with a more torque box of the W5A51 series, there is more trouble. It is less common than the previous ones, although the price for it is also low. This box works with the most powerful engines, and it lacks strength. On the Galant VIII there are three of its varieties: E6A, E6B and EZB. The first generation is the weakest, the second and third from restyling are noticeably better, but they have a problem with the spring number MR534166/2741A007. Boxes from Lancer Evolution 7GTA and 9GTA with codes DZH and D1Z are also suitable for replacement. But in all variants, all three planetary gears operate at their limit, and with powerful motors they cannot withstand the planetary axes and the drum spring ring reverse gear, and sometimes the drum is wiped. The E6A box, which has the oldest and most reliable version, and the Lancer boxes, on which they again began to put the old design ring with the code 2741A007, are spared these troubles.

Of course, clutches in combat mode require regular checks and replacements, and in case of any problems with oil pressure due to overheating or contamination of the valve body, they burn out.

The box with the code D1Z has the strongest construction, but its bell does not fit the 6A13 motor (it is only for the 4G63T).

Versions E6B and EZB have an external filter, which has a good effect on the resource during quiet operation. However, what kind of quiet operation is this with a 280-horsepower stock engine I'm talking about?

The box on the VR4 has a regular radiator, which is enough as long as the box is in good condition. Almost all automatic transmission options have a regular filter, and improvements are needed mainly in its mechanical part. And, of course, every 30-40 thousand kilometers an oil change is required. True, for most running and well-tuned cars, 30-40 thousand is the interval of a “small” automatic transmission bulkhead.

Motors

Mitsubishi engines from this period are an interesting mix of new technology and old proven designs. The most reliable engines on the Galant VIII are undoubtedly the 4G63-6 2.0 SOHC / DOHC engines with conventional injection and 4G64 2.4 MPI, especially in the SOHC version. Six-cylinder engines of the 6A13 series with a volume of 2.5 liters with conventional injection are also reliable, but they have more problems with lubrication and are noticeably more expensive to maintain, although they have a higher resource. Supercharged versions of 6A13, of course, are noticeably more expensive to maintain and more vulnerable, but they are quite stable and can have a good resource. Although the likelihood that they were "annealed" is maximum.

Much more trouble with all GDI motors, and their positive qualities are somehow not traced. There are all the "charms" of direct injection in the form of increased design complexity, limited resource of high pressure fuel pumps and injectors, a high probability of failures due to sensors, frankly poor starting qualities in winter and a tendency to coke piston rings. In general, engines 1.8 4G93-G, 2.4 4G64-4 and 2.0 4G94-G with GDI are very nasty. Worse than them are only diesel 4D58, which are generally considered one of the most bad motors stamps. Although the most successful five-speed automatic transmissions usually stood with GDI engines.

Belt balancer shafts

520 rubles

Despite its considerable age, Galant has relatively few complaints about the engine compartment wiring and cooling system. And modifications of engines with conventional distributed injection boast impressive stability. In general, the mechanics of Mitsubishi engines is one of the best, although the drive of the balancer shafts by a belt is a very, very original solution that does not add reliability to the motors, but this problem, if desired, is eliminated at the first timing change.

Low resource of exhaust system components and weak suspension motors - common shortcomings of the entire series. After three to five years of operation, these nodes often required attention, and now, most likely, non-original components of unknown quality have been standing there for a long time. The original is too expensive, and replacements are also not encouraging with low cost. From Chery (from which you can put a lot here), the supports are not suitable, but the transfer case support from Niva stands up perfectly as a front support for an in-line "four". But keep in mind that with non-original supports you can forget about the quiet operation of engines: vibrations are noticeably increased, and the engines themselves, with an average mileage of 250 thousand kilometers, are far from ideal.

Spark plugs that have not been replaced for a long time, a dirty intake or throttle valve, a dead ventilation system and leaks through vacuum system- all this is the everyday life of a buyer of an inexpensive Galant.

Another problem is the low-lying crankcase and the subframe that does not protect it. A significant number of cars have a crankcase with traces of repairs, so when buying, pay close attention to this part. And for 6A13 engines, this is simply a must because of the peculiarities of their oil intake system.

Pictured: Mitsubishi Galant Elegance "1996–2003

Motors of the 4G6 family with conventional distributed injection on Galant are mainly represented by two options. This is the SOHC version of the 2.0 4G63 motor on European cars and SOHC version of the 2.4 4G64 engine on the "Americans". Occasionally you can find a DOHC version of the 4G63 and even cars with a turbocharged 4G63T. And it’s not at all a fact that this is a “collective farm”: it’s difficult to figure out the number of machine configurations, small regional and anniversary options are quite numerous. These engine versions are not only reliable, but also have an almost exemplary control system, stable and comfortable, excellent gasket of all components in engine compartment and at the same time please with good traction. In general, the impeccable Japanese auto industry. The few enemies of these motors are the age and sloppiness of services.

Timing Belt 2.4/2.0 DOHC

3 401 rubles

Age manifests itself in the form of aging of the control system, hoses and plastic of the cooling system, cracks in the exhaust and, most sadly, intake manifolds. Over time, the chances of damage to the timing belt by a broken balance shaft belt increase. With runs over 150 thousand, either repair of the entire shaft mechanism and constant monitoring of oil pressure are required to prevent wedging of the shaft bushings and breakage of the drive belt, or a complete shutdown of the system with plugging the oil channels and removing the problematic belt. The timing is able to consistently pass 60 thousand, but the “regular” 90 on age-related engines is rather an unattainable dream. The chances of bending the valve are too big, it is better not to save on the belt.

Hydraulic compensators are a long-standing problem of the company's motors, they are short-lived. Reducing oil change intervals to 5-7 thousand helps a little, but in the future it’s cheaper to just change them every second timing belt change or use decoking compounds to clean the oil system. This measure can briefly bring them to their senses.

Overall, this is still one of the best Japanese motors, and at the same time extremely inexpensive. True, with contract engines it's Complicated. 4G6 motors exist in a whole bunch of modifications. They can have different cylinder heads, different starter locations, they can be made for different attachments. It even had even a GDI version. In general, simply by the designation of the type of engine, it will not work to take a contractor or spare parts. But the motor is popular, there are enough experts on it, so the problem is solvable.

In the photo: Mitsubishi Galant Elegance Wagon "1996–2003

Direct injection is a fashionable thing, many claim that it is needed and very useful. But experienced owners of GDI motors are usually much more skeptical. It is not recommended to take a car with them. True, it is often impossible to refuse: there are not so many living cars, and it is easier to put the engine control system in order than the body. Moreover, now the problems are approximately clear, and the solutions are known. Of course, the system is more expensive and capricious. Here, the EGR is overloaded, and the intake is dirty, and the valves overgrow and hang, and the compression rings lie down due to the characteristics of the combustion process with an increased amount of soot, and the nozzles are tender, and the high-pressure fuel pump is even more tender than the nozzles. But expensive components can be restored, the most sought-after spare parts are on sale, and Mitsubishi even released Shumma fluid for decarbonizing GDI engines.

Mechanically, the 4G64 motors in the DOHC version are no worse than their MPI SOHC counterparts, except that the hydraulic lifters often do not even survive to replace the belt.

The 1.8 and 2.0 liter 4G93 and 4G94 series motors are based on a different block, do not have balance shafts, and many consider them even more reliable than the time-tested 4G63. But in practice, the design turned out to be more delicate, especially since the balancers of the 63rd engine can be removed, but it is already more difficult to provide the younger series with normal cooling of the cylinders and a more durable piston. So oil appetite and rather strong wear of the piston group are already present at runs of 150-200 thousand, unfortunately. Yes, and liners here lift up suspiciously often. In general, not the most successful series of engines on any side.

Pictured: Mitsubishi Galant Estate "1997–2003

Six-cylinder engines of the 6A13 series are good for everyone, but the crankshaft liners lift up with any mistake. Low-viscosity oil and easy overheating - the engine is in for repair. Dirty oil intake screen - for repair, old oil pump ... well, you know where the engine goes. It is advisable to use viscous oils, SAE40 or even SAE50, and keep the crankcase clean. It is advisable to change the timing belt every 60 thousand, although it can take longer, up to a hundred. Just remember that saving 10 thousand can result in the replacement of the entire motor.

6 838 rubles

The pump is relatively low-resource, but it probably already has a non-original one, and it all depends on the choice of supplier. A liquid oil heat exchanger requires attention and is very demanding on the quality of antifreeze, corrosion happens regularly in it. The rest is strong and very successful motor. Many consider it optimal for Galant, but it is heavy. With it, the already small resource of the front suspension falls, and its consumption is high. In maintenance, it is noticeably more complicated than in-line "fours", not to mention repairs. But it is not noisy, very high-torque and goes well with any automatic transmission.

Motor "fan" VR-4 - the same 6A13 with biturbo. As a sports engine, it is inferior to the supercharged 4G63, but it has more traction, the stock engine itself is cheaper and more powerful, and the sound is nicer. The resource is quite decent, there are even instances with runs over 200 thousand without traces of overhauls, but you should not hope for a miracle. Cars with these motors do not drive slowly, and the motors themselves are often tuned to values \u200b\u200bof “slightly over 400”. The resource, as expected, depends mainly on the quality of training, service and the degree of "piling up". But it seems to me that if you are going to buy a VR-4, then you already know more about this motor than can be stated in one paragraph of text.

Instead of a resume

Galant VIII was beautiful and interesting car. If the body was well looked after, and the engine does not contain GDI letters in the index, then even now this is not a very troublesome and pleasant car. True, still demanding on the quality of service. Otherwise, it turns out to be a rather brittle bucket. Even if it's cute on the outside.

Pictured: Mitsubishi Galant Sport "1996–2003

It is worth taking this car only with MPI engines, but there are doubts about the expediency of six-cylinder naturally aspirated engines. Whether to buy VR-4 is a question beyond common sense: more than three hundred Horse power It's not for everyone and it's not for every day.

Separately, a couple of words about the "Americans". There are quite a few of them, and they are simpler and somewhat cheaper than European and Japanese cars in operation. First of all, thanks to the 2.4 4G64 MPI engines and the absence of a multi-link in the front suspension. But the interior of cars from the USA is noticeably worse, their equipment is poorer, and the build quality is clearly not up to Japanese. However, if you are not jarred by the cheapness of the American midsize, and you need a large and family car, then this is also quite an interesting option.

Released back in 2003 and not reissued for a relatively long time, the Mitsubishi Galant 9 is still quite in demand, especially for Russian buyers. Despite being headquartered in Japan and manufactured in the US, it Russian market was one of the main consumers of Mitsubishi products, and you can still often find ninth generation cars on our roads.

The American version of the Galant, which always came out with the base DE (as big cars for the whole family are called in the West), also had additional modifications: LS, ES and a sports GTS.

The main characteristics of all models are preserved, the difference is only small cosmetic changes:

  • equipment LS equipped with an electric seat, six airbags and full power accessories;
  • sports version of the GTS it has a more powerful engine and climate control, while the rest are content with only air conditioning;
  • ES has an improved design and a different painting.

After restyling, the GTS package was replaced by the SE version with a reshaped rear optics.

But the DE remains the main model, everything comes from its characteristics, and the demand for it is the greatest.

2 complete sets were delivered to Russia:

  • 2.4 Instyle-AT;
  • 2.4 Intense-AT.

Engines and gearbox

Mitsubishi has always been known for its hardware, not the appearance of the car. In the ninth version of Galant, everything remains as before, the quality will not let you down. All models have 4 cylinders in the engine, they differ only in volume:

  • on DE and ES there is a 2.4 liter aspirated, the return is 150 hp. from.;
  • on the LS and the sports GTS - 3.8 liter, but the return is different - 230 hp. with and 260 l. from.
The engines of this brand - 4G69, 6G75 - are among the best. This is one of the main reasons to take Galant 9

The 3.8-liter unit is especially good, but it is quite difficult to find it in Russia. Of the minuses - you have to check and tighten the valve clearances a couple of times a month, although they hold better than some competitors. Candle oil may also leak, it is not difficult to eliminate this on your own.

The motor is good, but it is designed for a certain gearbox. The machine does not give much freedom for maneuvering. Although it will not work to do tricks on it, it is an ideal option for an amateur or a family man. In addition, the machine, coupled with the engine, will allow you to regulate and even reduce fuel consumption.

Galant Grunder

A year after the release of the Mitsubishi Galant 9, in 2004, the same company releases the Galant Grunder.

Grunder is more focused on the domestic market, and in Russia it is not so popular because of the higher price.

But the price has definitely been worked out - the design has been completely changed, sharpened for Japan, it is pleasant, it will not seem strange to the Russian eye:

  • changed colors and quality of painting;
  • there is a larger selection of colors;
  • the interior has been changed - leather-covered seats are surrounded by chrome and wood.

Of the minuses - the power of the 2.4-liter engine is not much changed - 165 hp. from. The old machine remained, although some of the flaws in the management were corrected.

Despite the maximum degree of security shown in the report of the US Department of Highway Safety, this car was too expensive even for middle-income American families.

Advantages and disadvantages

Design and appearance has never been the most important aspect of the Mitsubishi Galant 9. People have always bought cars for build quality and convenience. Looking ahead: the latest generation does not deviate from the canons of the entire line, but there are some differences.

  1. This is a well-assembled large car, with a voluminous body and spacious interior.
  2. There are no problems with heat in it due to the good location of the air conditioner, blowing and rear seats.
  3. In the driver's seat, everything is just as good - convenient control, an electric seat.

The only negative is a large number of buttons that will take some time to deal with, but experienced drivers will not be difficult.

Galant 9 feels wonderful on the road. The heavy landing and the automatic will keep the car from skidding, and if you are not a freshly minted Schumacher, this is an ideal choice. Yes, and you don’t have to spend much fuel on a long road - gasoline consumption is low due to not powerful engine.

Getting used to the location of the buttons and their number is easy, but getting used to the huge steering wheel is difficult. It is clearly not designed for a woman's hand, and a man may find it uncomfortable. To match the steering wheel, the same uncomfortable radio buttons are difficult to reach, and the design generally kills this desire.

Prices

Unfortunately, the 9th generation of Galant did not live up to expectations, and in 2012 the car was suspended. If you really want to buy it, you should look at secondary market.

Here are the approximate prices from online stores.

Mitsubishi Galant 10

The ninth generation Galant sold worse than the previous generation cars. No wonder the Mitsubishi Galant 9 was restyled twice, although the technical data remained almost unchanged.

Mitsubishi Galant 10 was scheduled for release a few years after the 2008 upgrade, but something didn't work out. However, it is too early to bury the brand - in 2015, the release of old models began again, and the development of new ones is also possible.

Mitsubishi Galant 9 is a high-quality, albeit controversial in terms of design, car. However, iron fully pays for its money. Another thing is that the car is not suitable for everyone - in some places it is inactive and overweight, it is hardly suitable for women.

Mitsubishi Galant - mid-size business class sedan, closest competitor Toyota models camry, Honda Accord, Volkswagen Passat, Ford Mondeo and other D-class cars. In production since 1974. In various generations, the model was produced in sedan, hatchback and station wagon bodies. Until recently, Galant was offered on the market only as a sedan. In addition, he was considered the most accessible representative of this segment. In 2004, the ninth generation Galant debuted. In 2008, a restyled version was released, and in 2012, Galant production was completely discontinued due to low demand.

  • Konstantin, Lipetsk, 1.6 79 y. from. petrol. I have a 1990 Mitsubishi Galant, I bought it in the late 1990s. Then the country was full of supported foreign cars imported from abroad. So the choice was huge, even better than now. True, there was much more trash than cars in good condition. But I was lucky, I got a copy with a range of 78 thousand km. With 1.6 liter petrol engine. Its power is 79 liters. from. enough in urban areas. In general, the engine is suitable for leisurely driving. The car is comfortable, the suspension is well adapted to our roads. The average consumption is at the level of 8-9 liters per 100 km, I fill in the 92nd gasoline.
  • Mikhail, Taganrog, 1.8 94 y. from. petrol. My 1991 Galant has covered 170,000 miles and is still holding up well. This is what Japanese technology means, it is always in service. The atmospheric 94-horsepower engine is reliable, high-torque, and economical, consumes 10 liters per 100 km.

Generation 7

With engine 1.8

  • Ruslan, Leningrad region. Happy with the car, I bought a used car from an old friend. A copy of the 1998 release, the current mileage is 180 thousand km. The 1.8-liter engine supports 92nd gasoline, consumes an average of 10 liters per 100 km. The car looks stylish and brutal. There is nothing superfluous in the exterior and interior of the Mitsubishi Galant, everything is done simply and to the point, let alone Nissan Juke- my wife. In general, I am a fan of such classics, I just trudge from it. All these vibrations, noises and a growling engine are for me, even adrenaline raises and sets me up for a fast ride. This is my Galant, a powerful and economical car.
  • Konstantin, Minsk. I liked the car, her relatives presented it to me as unnecessary. Mitsubishi Galant 1997 release, with a 1.8-liter engine. I stood in the garage for a long time, and before the first start I had to tinker with the electrics a bit. The sedan consumes from 8 to 12 liters, depending on the driving style.
  • Pavel, Kaliningrad. Galant is the best car in terms of price, quality and performance. I bought an option with a range of 100 thousand, even more or less a fresh copy. The 1.8 engine works with clear mechanics, and the average consumption is at the level of 10 liters / 100 km.
  • Ekaterina, Yaroslavl. Wheelbarrow that is necessary for my needs. Used mainly in the city - to work and back home. And before and after work, you still need to take the children to kindergarten, and then pick them up. In general, Galant is a solid family car for every day. Consumes 10 liters with a 1.8 engine.
  • Yuri, Bryansk. I have a supported Mitsubishi Galant, drove 100 thousand km on it - no serious breakdowns, the car runs like clockwork. It consumes from 10 to 11 liters per 100 km, I always drive as fast as the 1.8-liter engine allows. Galant sets up for an aggressive ride, just can not resist. I am very pleased with the purchase.
  • Alexey, Stavropol region. Cool car, 1998 version, the car drove under 200 thousand km. I go and complain, with comfort, pure soul and pleasure. I have only positive emotions from this car, it is very fast in the city and practically does not break down, although there are about 140 thousand km on the odometer. A 1.8-liter engine consumes 9-10 liters per hundred, on the highway you can meet 8-9 liters per 100 km. I praise Galant for a roomy interior, good finishing materials and good quality assemblies.

With engine 2.0

  • Konstantin, Smolensk. My Galant has traveled 150,000 km, thanks for still being alive. Strong and hardy car, with a courageous design. It rides cool, I also praise the powerful acceleration and braking dynamics. A two-liter heart eats from 10 l / 100 km.
  • Oleg, Vorkuta. Galant - best option to work in a taxi. Before him went to Dishman Logan, which I was tired of. Galant is a more playful, powerful and sporty car that brings joy every day. I sit behind the wheel with pleasure, how lucky I am. A car with a 2.0 engine consumes 10-11 liters per 100 km.
  • Nikolay, Penza. I have a 1998 Galant with a powerful two liter petrol engine. With him in the city I fit into 11 liters per 100 km, if you drive mainly at medium speeds. If you push it from the heart, you get 12 liters. This is already a lot, but it is possible to fill in the 92nd gasoline. In addition, Italian-made HBO is installed in the trunk of my Galant - it does not stink of gas in the cabin. The car is perfectly soundproofed from the external environment, the suspension is energy-intensive. On the highway, Galant consumes a maximum of 9-10 liters / 100 km.
  • Anton, Lipetsk. Cool car, created for my needs. Operated in urban and suburban conditions. I am a tourist, traveled half of Russia, but then I had Renault Logan. This time I plan to rush to Eastern Europe. I will take a camera with me, and of course - Mitsubishi Galant. So far I have been driving around the city, doing a run-in before a long adventure, let's say so. A car with a 2-liter engine consumes 10 to 12 liters per 100 km.
  • Tatyana, Nizhny Novgorod region. Wheelbarrow that is necessary for my needs, family and practical cars for daily trips. I knew in advance what kind of car I needed. Well, of course, Japanese, even if supported. I have a two liter version of the Galant, with an average consumption of 11 l/100 km.
  • Michael, Priozersk. I liked the Galant, the car for all occasions. I drive comfortably and don't complain. The car consumes within 10 l / 100 km, is equipped with a powerful and reliable 2-liter engine, working with an automatic transmission. The box works smoothly, adjusts to a dynamic ride.

With 2.5 engine

  • Konstantin, Nizhny Novgorod. I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Galant with a powerful 2.5 liter engine. Gasoline engine, solid aspirated, time-tested. Confidently pulls from all turns, I have no doubt about its reliability. For 200 thousand km, nothing bad happened to the car, the car is perfectly adapted for our roads, I drive in comfort and I don’t know any problems. I service in my own garage, I buy only original spare parts that can be found at the disassembly. Galant is inexpensive for me, in the city it consumes 12 liters per 100 km, I fill in the 92nd gasoline.
  • Vladislav, Perm region. Mitsubishi Galant- legendary car, and that's it. Our whole family traveled on Galant. First grandfather, then father, and now me. By the way, grandfather Galant got through the pull, he was a party member. So Galant is of particular importance to me. It's a pity it was discontinued. I still ride it, by the way, I have a 1997 version, from my father. With a 2.5 liter engine and an automatic, I fit in 11-12 liters per 100 km.
  • Karina, Simferopol. Liked the car perfect option for daily trips, travel, etc. The whole family is happy, the children and mother-in-law are delighted with my purchase. Galant is in good condition, reliable and economical. Despite the powerful 2.5-liter engine, you can keep within 11 liters.
  • Pavel, Rostov. Powerful and reliable car on every day. I have a Galant with a 2.5-liter engine and automatic. The box is set up as it should, it reveals the potential of the engine well. In the urban cycle I fit into 12 liters, outside the city it turns out 9-10 liters / 100 km. Praise Galant for practical and high-quality materials in the cabin. By the way, three tall passengers will fit in the back.

Generation 8

With engine 1.8

  • Alexey, Minsk. Galante I got from my brother as soon as I passed on the right. So this is my first foreign car. Initially, I thought to take something simpler, but then the case turned up - my brother was going to sell the car, and here I was like this - give it to me. Car produced in 2000, in good condition, equipped with a 1.8-liter engine and automatic. Consumes within 10-11 liters per 100 km, I fill in the 95th design. The car looks stylish, sporty and somewhat presentable. On the Galant, it’s not a shame to park at some Bentley, although why should you be ashamed, because the Galant is almost a business class.
  • Dmitry, Orenburg. I am satisfied with the car, I got a supported Mitsubishi Galant. Car produced in 2005, in excellent condition, albeit with a mileage of 100,000 km. I bought it in 2015, in two years I dashed off another 40 thousand km. Cool car, very roomy, and fast enough, not even against the background of more modern competitors. The 1.8-liter engine is still capable of bulking up. Acceleration to hundreds in 10 seconds, top speed under 200 km / h, and average fuel consumption at the level of 10 liters.

With engine 2.0

  • Alexander, Stavropol Territory. Mitsubishi Galant is a legendary car, I work on it in a taxi. For these purposes, this machine is the most suitable option. Despite its age, the car does not annoy with breakdowns, it is serviced only by dealers. I am the second owner, for eight years of operation I have changed only the gearbox. As for consumables, it goes without saying. Filters, oils, gasoline - I fill in and change in a timely manner, according to the regulations. The car is still maintained, and you need to take care of it, like any other technique. I have a Galant with a two-liter engine, it consumes a maximum of 12 liters / 100 km.
  • Yaroslav, Moscow region Galant is an ideal transport for family needs. In addition, the car is used to work in a taxi, where it can be said to be an indispensable option that replaced my VAZ-2107. In the city I fit in 11 liters per 100 km, a 2-liter engine with mechanics is installed under the hood.
  • Oleg, Irkutsk. Praise Galant for good visibility, impenetrable suspension, powerful engine and decent dynamics. In the cabin there is plenty of space, you can fall apart at least five of us. The average consumption is 11-12 liters.
  • Dmitry, Orenburg. I have a Mitsubishi Galant 2005, equipped with a two-liter engine. Its dynamics is enough to accelerate in 10 seconds to the first hundred. Maximum speed at the level of 200-210 km / h. The salon is spacious at the D-class level. The car is reliable, breakdowns do not annoy. In addition, it is maintainable and cheap to maintain. In the city I fit into 10-12 liters, depending on the nature of driving.
  • Maxim, Bryansk. I liked the car, I've been driving Galante for the second year. So far, I have not regretted that I had acquired a supported Japanese. At the moment, the mileage is 120 thousand km, all repairs - mostly on trifles, are carried out in dealer center. I am not a master craftsman, and I rely on qualified people who know a lot about this business. The car is equipped with a 2.0 engine and automatic, the flow rate in the city is 12 liters.
  • Mikhail, Krasnodar Territory. I have been using Galant for 15 years, and I am not going to sell it yet. I'm already used to the car, I drive with comfort and do not complain about the reliability of this Japanese miracle. I studied it to the holes, for this I have my own garage. I buy only used spare parts, new parts are useless - they are now expensive and you will not find them. Of course, Galant breaks down, and quite often. Any technique will ever fail, even Japanese ones. But in general, I am satisfied with the car, Galant is cheap for me, the main costs are only for gasoline. By the way, a 2-liter engine with a gun consumes 11-12 liters.

With 2.4 engine

  • Ekaterina, Tambov. I have a Mitsubishi Galant with a 2.4 liter petrol engine. Good solid aspirated, time-tested. For 170 thousand runs, this 150-horsepower has never failed, but the reliability of the suspension leaves much to be desired. In the city I fit in 12 liters / 100 km. The car consumes 95th gasoline. Galant is a worthy representative of its class. It's a shame it was discontinued. I would buy the next generation, but for now I drive an old man.
  • Nikolay, Moscow. I have a 2000 Galant with a 2.4 engine and an automatic. Powerful and strong car, I drive it for 14-15 hours a day. The sedan has traveled 130 thousand km without any serious incidents, and thus proved its reliability. In the urban cycle, I fit into 11-12 liters.
  • Yuri, Taganrog. The car is quite satisfied, by the way, I have been looking for myself for a long time inexpensive sedan business class. New Volga did not want to buy, in the end the choice fell on the supported Galant. I am satisfied with the car, the dynamics and handling are all at a high level. Consumption 12 liters.
  • Alexander, Peter. Mitsubishi Galant- parked car, it still looks relevant. With its 2.4-liter engine, you can ignite in full, especially at traffic lights. In general, a kind of city lighter for every day. Consumes from 10 to 13 liters, I fill AI-95.
  • Vasily, Orenburg. Comfortable and, most importantly, quality car. Galant was advised to me by friends, one friend by the way was exactly the same. The car is equipped with a 2.4-liter engine. The engine produces an acceptable 165 horses, which allows you to accelerate to 220 km / h. Excellent dynamics and handling, there is nothing to be surprised at - Mitsubishi has never had problems with this. Consumption in the city at the level of 12 liters.
  • Pavel, Bryansk. Cool car, optimal transport for every day. From 2005 to 2015, Galant drove 160 thousand km. He held on well to the last, until I broke him. Mighty was a car, bright memory to him. Consumption 10-12 liters.
  • Margarita, Yekaterinoslavl. The wheelbarrow is what you need, it is serviced in the garage, and even then only on the little things. No major breakdowns, I drive and do not complain - I sat down and drove what is called. Galant is well managed, and also well adapted to our broken roads. A 2.4-liter engine consumes 10-13 liters, depending on the nature of the ride.

With 2.5 engine

  • Maxim, Pyatigorsk. I have had a Mitsubishi Galant since 2004. I service the car in a timely manner, I never miss the passage of MOT, I buy only original spare parts - this is my recipe for the survivability of my car. The wheelbarrow has never broken, despite the different operating conditions. I have a 2.5 liter version with automatic transmission. Peppy acceleration and excellent handling. The suspension is moderately energy-intensive, although breakdowns sometimes occur - all the same chassis tuned rigidly to eliminate roll in corners. In short, a kind of compromise between comfort and handling.
  • Denis, Nizhny Novgorod. Galant impressed me from the first day of the trip. The car looks brutal and sporty, and behaves the same way on the road. This is one of the few cars about which we can say with confidence - appearance does not deceive. The 2.5-liter naturally aspirated loves to rev, which is very good. Fuel consumption in the city is 12 liters, on the highway I fit in 8-10 liters.
  • Nina, Perm region. Galant is the best car in terms of power and performance. The 2.5-liter engine is not new, but it allows you to confidently stay in city traffic, even with a margin. And besides, the engine is very economical and reliable, in the city the consumption reaches 12 liters.
  • Mikhail, Kazan. My Galant is equipped with top-end equipment. The 2.5-liter engine gives the sedan a huge acceleration potential, with which you feel almost at the top - in the city and at traffic lights I overtake everyone. And on the track, you can appreciate the first-class smoothness of the Mitsubishi Galant. All the same, it is not in vain that the car belongs to the business class, on a par with Toyota Camry. For 2005, the car looks decent, and is able to give odds to any competitor. The average consumption is 12 liters, and with the pedal constantly pressed to the floor, it reaches 13 liters.

Generation 9

With 2.4 engine

  • Dmitry, Novosibirsk. Galant is surprisingly well adapted to cold conditions, and is not afraid of bad roads. The engine starts with half a turn, and runs properly without any worries. A 2.4-liter gasoline engine consumes 14-15 liters per 100 km. I was pleased that such a luxurious business sedan "loves" the 92nd gasoline.
  • Mikhail, Moscow. Great car, ideal for daily commuting and long journeys. In the cabin, there is a reserve of space - both in front and behind. There are plenty of functions, but still not at the level of modern competitors. In general, Galant was worth the money in 2012, when I bought it. I still drive, I fill in 15 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers.
  • Alexey, Saratov. Mitsubishi Galant - my first business sedan, I bought it on the secondary market. Before him, I drove a GAZ-3110, after which I even more wanted a real premium car, albeit with some reservations. My Galant is equipped with a 2.4-liter engine and consumes from 11 to 15 liters, depending on the nature of the ride.
  • Anton, Lipetsk. Acquired Mitsubishi Galant in 2004 to replace the GAZ-31105. I am a district official, I needed an inexpensive and comfortable car with a personal driver. From a passenger's point of view, I like the car. It rides softly, there are almost no holes in the suspension, well, except for speed bumps. The sedan is equipped with a 2.4-liter engine with a capacity of 158 horses. In the city we fit into 14 liters per hundred, it is possible to fill with 92-m gasoline. I still drive Galante, though I had to change three drivers already. The car is not new, but still reliable. Serviced regularly at the dealership.
  • Dmitry, Irkutsk. Satisfied with the car perfect car for family and work needs. I am a private entrepreneur, I was looking for an inexpensive business class sedan. In the mid-2000s, the Galant was one of the cheapest cars in its class. I read reviews about him - everyone writes that they are reliable and perfectly adapted to Russian conditions. I was convinced of this in practice, after 20 thousand run. My Galant is equipped with a 2.4-liter engine and automatic transmission. Consumption in the city at the level of 14-15 liters, I fill with 92nd gasoline.
  • Oleg, Minsk. I have a 2011 Galant, with a powerful 2.4-liter aspirated. Perhaps this the best representative of his class. The machine is called without show-off, looks strict and presentable. In addition, there is nothing to catch the eye in the cabin either - I have the basic version, which does not even have a central display. But for me, handling and dynamics are more important, and Galant has a complete order with this. Acceleration to hundreds in 11 seconds, the average consumption of 14 liters.
  • Denis, Magnitogorsk. The car gives me pleasure for the whole day, I drive it for 14-15 hours. The car is used in an elite taxi, my clients are satisfied. Galant is comfortable and able to drive fast, since the 2.4-liter engine is capable of much. Consumes up to 15 liters.
  • Leonid, Bryansk. In 2017, my Galant turns 10 years old, during which time the car has shown itself on the good side. Fast and reliable, with a full five-seat interior and a huge trunk. With a 2.4 engine, it consumes from 12 to 14 l / 100 km.
  • Karina. Sochi. I liked the car, it's worth the money. Powerful and comfortable, reliable level. Consumption of 14 liters, I fill in the 92nd gasoline.
    Alexey, Dnepropetrovsk. I have a Galant from 2010, the 2.4 liter version with automatic. I praise the car for decent dynamics for a business class, impenetrable suspension, minimal roll in corners, a functional interior and good handling. Consumption in the city is 14 liters.

Mitsubishi Galant of the ninth generation was one of the first cars that did not come to us from Europe or Japan. This is a typical "American" that has undergone modernization for domestic market Russia. The Russian premiere of this car took place in September 2006, and overseas sales started two years earlier. Why did Mitsubishi marketers wait so long before presenting a new product on the Russian market? The answer was found quickly. According to representatives of the Japanese concern, before releasing the ninth Mitsubishi generation Galant to Russia, all components and assemblies of the car were finalized, taking into account the peculiarities of operation in Russia, which took a whole year and a half. As a result, 308 changes were made to the design.

About the main ones are enlarged to 165 mm ground clearance, a battery with a larger capacity for starting at low temperatures, as well as a more powerful starter and generator than in the American versions. After another year and a half, Galant underwent a slight restyling.

The most noticeable changes as a result of the update were the appearance of the car - a new grille trim appeared, and the fog lights became larger. In addition, the design of the rear lights has changed.

As for the interior, here we should highlight the appearance of the audio system and cruise control buttons on the front of the steering wheel (previously these keys were located on the back side), new trim materials “wood-like” (previously “aluminum-like”), and also changing the color of the illumination of instruments and vehicle control systems from blue to red.

T now about everything in more detail. After the Mitsubishi Galant appeared on the Russian market, it turned out that in terms of price range, the new product is on the same level as the top-end D-class cars, which include the popular Mazda6, as well as Opel Vectra and Hyundai NF. In turn, in terms of size, the ninth generation Galant competed with more expensive and venerable rivals - Nissan Teana, Toyota Camry and Volvo S80 and BMW 5-Series.

And so, we sit down in the salon. The front seats have a completely non-American profile - the lateral back support fixes the driver's body well. The electrically adjustable driver's seat makes it easy to find a comfortable driving position. Only the lack of longitudinal adjustment of the steering column reminds of overseas origin. Annoying blue backlight replaced with "European" orange. Due to the fact that the buttons for controlling the audio system and cruise control were moved from the back of the steering wheel to the outside, it became easier and clearer to manage them. The plastic of the front panel is soft to the touch, but the quality does not differ. Despite the presence of a duplicate speedometer scale in miles, the instrument panel is well informative and does not cause any complaints.

There is real space in the back sofa. With an average height of the front riders, rear passengers they can easily cross their legs and not feel any discomfort at the same time. The width of the place is quite enough for three adults, but you will not envy the one who is located in the middle. The rear sofa cushion is molded only for two, and when passing a speed bump, the central passenger can easily hit the ceiling with his head. In general, the spaciousness of the cabin is an undoubted trump card of the Mitsubishi Galant, which compensates for the rustic finish.

The luggage compartment with a volume of 435 liters is not distinguished by its large capacity and ease of use, primarily due to the not very good shape of the internal space and the high loading height. In addition, the transformation of the rear seat is not provided - for the transportation of long items there is only a hatch in the armrest.

The trunk lid is opened either with a button on the ignition key or with a lever in the cabin.

All cars supplied to the Russian market are equipped with only one engine, namely a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder MIVEC engine with four valves per cylinder and an ECI-MULTI distributed injection system. This power unit there is one indisputable advantage, which is the automatic octane correction system, which allows you to fill the tank with 92nd gasoline. With such Mitsubishi engine Galant produces 158 hp. and 213 Nm of torque, which is achieved at 4,000 rpm. Paired with the engine, only an automatic transmission is available, namely the 4-speed INVECS-II Sports Mode automatic transmission with manual gear selection.

Ragan dynamics from a 158-horsepower engine is not worth waiting for, so it’s better to postpone the “traffic light” races. No wonder the car was developed for the American market. The habits of Galant can be characterized by two epithets - soft and imposing. These qualities are manifested in virtually everything. But that doesn't mean it can't be played with. automatic transmission INVECS-II can adapt to the driving style. In dynamic mode, each gear spins to the red zone, and when you release the gas, the box keeps revs, not trying to switch to a step higher in order to respond faster to pressing the accelerator at the right time. In quiet mode, the shifts are virtually imperceptible to passengers.

As for the suspension settings, “overseas” habits are also unmistakably captured here. On asphalt waves, there is a fairly strong transverse buildup. Turns are passed with noticeable rolls. With a slightly sharper entry into the turn, the tires begin to squeak plaintively. But the pits and joints of the asphalt pavement Mitsubishi Galant clicks like seeds, without causing any inconvenience to passengers. Coupled with good sound insulation and an excellent audio system, the Rockford Fosgate Galant becomes a good companion even where the quality of the roadway leaves much to be desired. The increased clearance will allow you to make forays into nature without fear for the safety of the bottom. With a fairly understandable steering, which in its settings is more like Japanese than American, I was surprised by the large turning radius - where the “classmates” turn around in one run, “Galant” will need at least two. Because of this, there are some inconveniences when maneuvering in a tight parking lot.

In the piggy bank of Mitsubishi Galant, you can write down a fairly extensive list of equipment that competitors cannot boast of at a similar price. As standard equipment Galant is equipped with automatic transmission and cruise control, ABS and EBD systems, fog lights, power windows on all doors, climate control, six airbags, multifunctional steering wheel, audio system with 6 speakers and 16-inch alloy wheels with tires
