Do-it-yourself laundry basket made of rope. We make a laundry basket with our own hands

WE MAKE A BASKET FOR LINEN WITH OWN HANDS.

The age-old question of our housewives is where to put dirty linen before washing it? If you, like me, are not satisfied with the option of storing things in basins under the bathroom, I propose to build such a practical thing. How to make a laundry basket with your own hands? It turns out it's very simple. One of the easiest master classes is in front of you!

A laundry basket in the bathroom will consist of just a few details. Here they are: a garden metal mesh (70 cm high), a wooden circle for the bottom, four wheels and attachments with screws to them. Of the tools, only pliers and a screwdriver are useful. Strong fabric and cord are suitable for interior decoration of the basket.

First you need to lay out the materials in front of you. The mesh must be chosen so long that it can wrap a circle once. Well, for the basis for the basket, you can use a seat from a wooden stool or a large wooden pizza stand. When everything is ready, lay a wooden circle on the floor and wrap it with a net. Excess mesh must be cut with pliers or other tools.

The mesh is very easy to fasten: metal twigs need to be wrapped with pliers around the twigs on the other side of the mesh. In this case, you should check that the fastening is reliable (that is, the mesh must be tightly fixed).

Under the bottom, the mesh must be wrapped, bending the ends of the mesh to the center.

Now you need to fix the grid at the bottom of the basket. The bent edges of the grid form squares, which must be pressed against the wooden bottom with screws. We fasten the screw with the nut, fixing the mesh rod. The same must be done a few more times around the perimeter of the bottom. It turns out 7-8 screws.

If you want the basket to be rearranged, make it manoeuvrable with small wheels. To do this, four wheels must be evenly placed around the perimeter of the bottom and screwed on. Wheels, of course, are better to choose those that spin not only in two directions, but also around their axis.

This is how the base of the basket turns out: a mesh with a bottom on wheels.

A do-it-yourself laundry basket is already quite functional. But in order to create not only a piece of furniture, but also its decoration, you need to make an inner cover for the basket. It is better to sew it from a dense fabric like burlap or mattress fabric. Measure the height of the basket, then the radius of the bottom and cut out a suitable fabric cover. At the top of the cover, you can make a cord fastener that would tighten the basket bag. Also, for beauty, you can unscrew the top edge of the bag so that it covers the ends of the frame rods.

A bathroom basket is a fairly simple and practical craft! Make this and your bathroom will take on new life!

An indispensable laundry basket in the household is a symbol of order in the house. Any self-respecting hostess appreciates these items and, of course, wants to have them at her disposal. Today we will try to make it with our own hands.

For this we need:
- cardboard (any, can be corrugated);
- wallpaper or paper for pasting the bottom of the basket;
- paper tubes (in our case, from a check tape, white and stained with walnut stain);
- PVA glue;
- colorless quick-drying varnish (preferably glossy acrylic);
- fabric for textile insert.

We start by cutting out the bottom of the future basket, we have a cardboard blank measuring 23 x 35 cm. We cut out 2 blanks from cardboard and 2 from finishing paper or wallpaper. We paste the wallpaper on the photo cardboard, and on one of them we begin to glue the tubes.

We glue them with an interval of 1.5 - 2 cm, then we glue the sheets of cardboard together with a photo, be sure to place a load on them so that the tubes are well fixed between the cardboard sheets.

As soon as our future bottom is dry, we begin to form the walls of the basket. All glued tubes are racks and need to be placed perpendicular to the bottom. To do this, we start each tube under the next one from the bottom and bend it up.

Having raised all the racks, we will install a load on the bottom (best of all, a box that imitates the shape of a basket). It is convenient to control the racks on it, it is necessary that they stand straight and do not go to the side.

You can fasten them with clothespins on top of the box with the load. It is better to install this whole structure on a rotating “health disk” (it was produced back in Soviet times), it makes it possible to work freely with each side of the basket.
We start weaving with a regular gray rope. We use 2 colors: gray and white, and the type of weaving is rope. The first 4 rows are one-color. Next, weave with a pigtail rope with tubes of gray and white.

We have a two-color weave 16 cm high, then again weave with a single-color rope to a height that suits.

We make handles on the sides of the basket, raising the wicker rows on the racks to the desired height.

We finish weaving by cutting the racks to the height of the basket.

Now our workpiece must be well smeared with glue diluted in half with water, wait until it dries, but does not harden at all. In this state, you can correct minor flaws and align the walls of the basket.

When our basket dries, we begin to varnish it. It is better to use an aerosol acrylic varnish, it dries quickly and practically does not smell. The basket should be varnished in 2-3 layers.
Now let's start decorating the basket. Cut out the textile lining. The pattern consists of 2 rectangles, the first is the size of the bottom, the dimensions of the second are the height of the basket and its perimeter. Do not forget to make seam allowances in the second rectangle. We sew the liner, process the seams, decorate to your liking. On the sides, you can slightly reduce the height of the liner. And now, our basket is ready.

The bathroom is, undoubtedly, the face of the hostess, so everything in it should be not only neat and clean, but also beautiful. Sometimes it can be difficult to choose a laundry basket so that it matches the overall design of the room, so that things do not peek out of the holes, so that, finally, the basket pleases the eye. The ideal solution to this problem would be a do-it-yourself laundry basket created. The result of such a creative process will be not only a useful thing, but also all the positive emotions that its use will bring.

Braid from newspapers

If collections of newspapers have accumulated at home over a long period, then you can give them a second life by making a basket of newspaper tubes.

So, to make a basket from a newspaper, you will need:

  • a stack of newspapers;
  • the object to be braided;
  • ruler;
  • scissors;
  • pencil;
  • thin needle;
  • PVA glue.

To make a wicker basket, you need to prepare newspaper tubes. On a newspaper sheet, mark strips 7 cm wide and cut them out.

Then you need to place a thin knitting needle on the edge of the strip at an angle of 30º and wrap it in newspaper.

The tube should not be too tight or weak. The end of the strip must be fixed with glue.

After the end of the tube is fixed, the needle should be removed. Then repeat the same with the other strips.

Finally, to make long parts, you need to connect the tubes in two, inserting one into the other and glue the junction, as shown in the photo.

Now it's time to weave the bottom of the basket out of newspaper tubes. To do this, you need to take 10 finished parts, put 5 of them in front of you, press with a ruler. Then bend 3 odd tubes up along the ruler, drip glue on the remaining elements. Take 6 tubes and glue it perpendicularly to them from above. After that, you need to lower the raised tubes, do the same, but lifting the even parts up, and glue the 7 tube to the odd ones.

Continue weaving until the 10th tube is glued. Then you need to take the upper horizontal tube, bend it 90º and pass it between the rest of the parts, as in the photo.

Continue to weave in a circle, pushing the details away from the center. When a circle of the desired diameter is formed, bend the ends of the tubes up.

Now you can put a shape on the bottom of the future basket - it can be any thing of a suitable size, it is on it that the basket will trail.

The bent ends of the tubes from which the bottom was woven should fit snugly into the mold. Now the main part of the work lies ahead: making the walls of the basket! To do this, take the tube and twist it perpendicular to the rest of the details. The end of the tube should be fixed with glue, and then take a new part and continue.

When the desired height of the basket is reached, you need to fix the ends. To do this, you need to twist any axial tube through the adjacent one, bending it inward. Insert a separate tube into the loop. In this way, bend all the ends inward. Trim excess.

Finally, for strength, you can coat the entire product with glue, and then varnish it on top.

On a note! Making a laundry basket opens up endless possibilities for experimentation. For example, you can pre-coat newspaper tubes with acrylic paint and weave a multi-colored basket.

The second life of lids

How to surprise guests and at the same time give a second life to plastic bottle caps? Create a modern laundry basket for the bathroom made from lids! In addition to patience, you will need:

  • many covers;
  • plastic glue.

First you need to assemble the bottom of the future basket: lay out the lids in the shape of a circle or square, depending on what shape the product will be.

Then, when the bottom is laid out, you need to tightly glue the covers to each other with plastic glue.

Tip: you can pre-separate the lids depending on the color and lay them out in a pattern. And if you create a shelf for the bathroom and a soap dish according to the same principle, you will get a whole set that will add zest to your design.

knitted miracle

Those who love and know how to knit will be interested to know that a laundry basket can be crocheted!

To make a knitted basket you will need:

  • ribbon yarn - 500 g;
  • hook number 10.

The density of knitting will be 8 tbsp. b / n = 10 cm. To make such a thing, you need to dial 4 air. n. and close the ring with a half-column. Then:

  1. 1st row - in the center of the ring, knit 8 tbsp. b/n. Next, knit in a spiral with b / n columns.
  2. 2nd row - knit 2 tbsp. b / n in each loop of the previous row = 16 tbsp.
  3. 3rd row - knit * 1 tbsp. b / n, next. knit the loop of the previous row 2 tbsp. b / n *, repeat * _ * 7 more times = 32 tbsp.
  4. Continue to evenly add 8 sts in each row until you get 68 sts (circle diameter - 26 cm).
  1. * 2 rows, grabbing the loops behind the back wall *.
  2. Repeat *_* until desired basket height.

Finally, tie the top edge of the basket 1 next to the half-st.

Tip: you can knit the handles for the basket, then it will be convenient to lift it. In addition, you can use multi-colored yarn to make the basket bright and original.

Other ideas

The difference in baskets in shape and material of manufacture

If you wondered how to make a laundry basket with your own hands, you need to wonder about its shape. This is especially important in a small room.

The most common basket option is:

Container. The difference between containers, primarily in their location:

Wall basket. The advantage of this option:

  • can be hidden from prying eyes in a closet;
  • takes up little space in the room.

The basket is foldable. It takes up little space, and can also be folded and put away in a closet.

Weaving material

The most common laundry basket is the wicker laundry basket. Weaving is carried out with different materials:

  • rattan - for the most part, this material is found in baskets purchased ready-made.
  • grape vine;
  • willow vine;
  • bamboo;
  • newspaper;
  • textile material.

The folding basket consists of two elements:

  • linen cover - sewn on a typewriter from textiles.
  • wooden footboard - you will need a jigsaw and a screwdriver.

To weave a basket from a newspaper, you need to complete the work with final processing to give the material strength and moisture resistance:

  • stain;
  • PVA glue - necessary to strengthen the paper structure.

When weaving with plastic, plastic glue is used to secure the walls of the container structure.

Tip: decide on the size of the future basket so that it does not become bulky or so small that its use will not be practical. The laundry basket should look harmonious in the bathroom.

The nuances of making a basket

In order not to have to adjust your work, it is better to think about the following tips:

  • clothes have weight. Therefore, the structure must withstand the load;
  • work must be done carefully. Especially the inside of the basket. There should be no protruding objects that will cling to the linen and may subsequently tear it.
  • the walls of the basket must "breathe" because the laundry needs ventilation;
  • the basket must be covered with a lid to prevent dust and dirt from getting on the linen;
  • if the bathroom area allows you to make a double basket, then this will allow you to immediately sort the laundry.

Folding basket

You can sew a laundry basket and mount it on a wooden stand. An important advantage of such an interior element can be a combination of material for sewing bathroom curtains and a basket bag.

The basket takes up little space. If there is not enough laundry in it, it can be folded slightly or removed altogether when it is empty.

Step by step work plan:

  • For the base, you need to prepare 4 wooden slats, 2 metal tubes of 40 cm each and 2 tubes of 36 cm each, 10 bolts, 2 nuts. The structure is being assembled. The tubes are painted over at the beginning of the assembly.
  • 5 identical pieces are cut out of textiles. The bag is sewn in the form of a square. Removable loops are sewn onto 2 opposite walls.
  • The finished sewn basket is attached to the structure.

Knitted basket

For knitting, soft cords are used (more beautiful baskets are obtained) and dense ones (keep their shape better). How to tie a laundry basket is up to you.

The bottom of the basket is knitted first;

  • the bottom smoothly passes into the walls;
  • a lining is sewn for a basket in the form of a bag;
  • basket is decorated.

Basket decoration as a design element

How to decorate a laundry basket can be discussed endlessly. The flight of fancy can only be limited by a harmonious combination with the design of the bathroom.

A funny inscription on the laundry basket will make it a living element of the interior.

You can sew various interchangeable covers with funny animals from pieces of wool and felt onto the wicker base of the basket.

Connect the weave of a plastic basket with the weave of a traditional vine.

A sewn wool basket in the shape of a shark looks stylish and will support the nautical theme of the bathroom. A wicker basket in the shape of an animal looks unusual.

A knitted basket will look funny if the lid is in the shape of an animal's head. For example, a white basket with a monkey's head.

Sewn textile baskets with geometric shapes are always in trend. Bright textiles will only enliven the room.

Both a knitted basket and a sewn one can be decorated with applique or beads along the edge or embroidery.

DIY laundry basket photo

Modern washing machines require a full load of laundry with a weight of 3 to 5 kg. Therefore, every housewife knows that before filling the machine, you need to accumulate a considerable amount of things. In this case, a large laundry basket is a great helper. You can make such a useful attribute with your own hands from improvised materials. And from which, we will consider in detail in this article.

High basket on wheels

Every family, regardless of the number of people living, needs such a thing as a laundry basket. You can assemble such a roomy item with your own hands using ordinary tools. Also, for work, you will need a wire mesh, a wooden base in the form of a circle, a fabric from which the bag will be sewn, screws and wheels.

From the grid, you need to cut a rectangle with a height that suits you and a width equal to the circumference of the base of the tree. For further bonding, leave small pieces along the skeleton - they will help you when fastening the seam. Then wrap the circle with the short side, leaving an allowance of 6 centimeters. Now carefully fasten the vertical seam formed on the side of the future basket by bending short segments. Next, bend the mesh allowances under the bottom of the structure and fix with screws, attaching to a wooden circle.

It remains to sew a bag corresponding to the size of the basket, and place it inside the structure. If desired, wheels can be attached to the bottom of the structure. Such a handmade laundry basket will be a nice gift and an original decor in the interior of any room.

Bathroom bag design

For craftswomen involved in sewing, it will be easy to create a folding basket in the form of a large hanging bag with legs. True, a little help from a man will be needed. It's great if you create such a basket together.

To create the base, you need to prepare 4 beams 60 cm long and 4 holders about 30 cm, on which the bag will be attached. We connect two bars with a bolt and nut in the form of an X-shaped figure. To do this, we drill a hole in the middle of each support and fasten them with one bolt. We do the second figure in the same way. Next, the racks need to be connected with holders. To do this, you need to place them opposite each other, and nail the ends of the planks to opposite sides with studs. At the end of the work, it is desirable to sand and varnish the structure. The next step is to sew the bag.

We sew a bag

To properly cut the bag, you need to remove the dimensions of the frame. Next, cut out five parts from the fabric: the bottom and four sides. Connect all the parts and sew from the wrong side. Then turn inside out and iron. If desired, you can sew the lining in the same way. It remains to sew four strong loops to the corners of the bag. To do this, duplicate the pieces of fabric and sew three layers of material. For greater strength, it is desirable to lay several lines along and across the blanks. A do-it-yourself laundry basket for the bathroom, sewn in this way, is very convenient to use. Empty it can be folded and put against the wall or put away in the closet.

Weaving from newspaper tubes

Rattan products are very popular. But this type of needlework has a high price. Therefore, a laundry basket, woven with your own hands from available raw materials, may well take its rightful place and in no way be inferior to the things offered on the market. We will replace rattan with ordinary newspaper tubes.

To create a basket, we will need newspapers, cardboard, wood stain, a knife, PVA glue and clothespins.

Cut out a rectangular shape from cardboard. It will serve as an auxiliary base on which we will weave the bottom of our basket. With a pencil, draw vertical lines at the same distance. Their task is to indicate the location of future racks. We lay out the newspaper tubes in the designated places and fix them with clothespins. The weaving of the bottom will be horizontal. To do this, we fold the free tube in half and, grabbing the extreme rack, weave the next ones, reaching the opposite edge. We leave one part for the rack, glue the additional tube and continue weaving in the opposite direction. After the bottom has been woven, the racks must be raised, the mold inserted and weaving continued in height. At the end of weaving, we bend the last tube and glue it to the woven fabric. The basket can be stained and then varnished. So we learned how to make a laundry basket with our own hands from newspaper tubes.

Amazing thing - bottles

All kinds of products using plastic bottles have gained great popularity. This material is very light, durable and is not afraid of wet rooms. A do-it-yourself bottle-made laundry basket will be appropriate in the bathroom.

Having collected the required amount of containers, you can get to work. Before assembly, the bottom and top of the containers must be cut off. Then, in a spiral, cut the remaining parts of the bottles into strips. One container should make one tape. To facilitate work and more even cutting, you can pre-paste the bottle with adhesive tape. Weaving is convenient to start on a separate box, turned upside down. Use clothespins to secure the tapes to the base. After weaving the bottom, fold the strips along the sides of the box and continue working in a circle. Having reached the required height, bend the free ends of the vertical stripes and weave into the finished fabric. We take out the old box. You can use the bottle basket.

It is not difficult to weave laundry baskets, the main thing is desire and a little patience. Things ready for washing will always have their place.
