Passat ss motors. Volkswagen Passat CC with mileage: not so terrible robot with the same terrible engine

Volkswagen Passat is one of the iconic models, among those ever produced on German soil. Just think, but for about 45 years this car has been coming off the conveyors of the automaker in various variations. Throughout its existence, it has been released eight main generations of the model and a considerable number of their modifications. Perhaps one of the most successful Trade Winds is a sixth-generation variation called the Comfort-Coupe or CC. In today's material, our resource will pay attention to the engines of this model, examining them from all possible angles.

A few words about the FV-Passat SS

Before considering the motor line of the model, let's pay attention to the concept and history of creation. So, the Volkswagen Passat SS is a 4-door coupe sedan designed on the basis of the B6 generation of the Passat (the sixth in a row). Produced this model for 8 years - from 2008 to 2016, at a factory in the German city of Emden.

SS was created with one goal in mind - to give people the opportunity to purchase a middle-class Passat that would be more comfortable than standard this model range, but slightly worse than the representative Phaeton. As a result, the engineers of the German automaker managed to design a car that is fully consistent with the middle class. In particular, the Passat SS was partly distinguished by its sporty “silhouette” and good technical equipment.

During its production, the model has managed to spread to many car markets in the world: from the USA, Russia and Europe to South America. Since 2012, the Volkswagen Passat SS has been restyled, while retaining its branded and beloved by many "stuffing". Having outlived the due date, this representative of the lineup ceased to be produced from the conveyors, which marked his departure into the shadows.

Interesting! Despite the cessation of production, the car is still very popular among fans of the German car industry.

Motor line

Note that the Volkswagen Passat SS engines are represented by a mediocre range. The choice of a potential buyer of this model is offered for some whole, and for some, only four variations of the engine. Three of them are represented by a new generation of gasoline units and one solid "diesel". In the following table, you can take a closer look at the Passat SS engine line:

Important! All engines that were equipped with cars of the Volkswagen Passat SS model are high-quality units made using the latest technologies. Separately, we note the presence of turbocharging in all variations of installations (with the exception of the 3.6-liter engine).

Operating characteristics of the units

The power units of the Passat SS are pretty solid, well-made "hard workers". Judging by the reviews of the owners, the engines of this model range are not so whimsical in operation and work for a very long time without any problems. When it comes to repair, it is usually insignificant and not as expensive as it happens with a car of this class.

Considering the motors in terms of functionality, we note that they fully correspond to the information noted in the table. Volkswagen Passat SS engines are quite frisky on the road, which simply cannot but rejoice. In addition, the consumption of motors is not so great, even if it differs by a couple of liters from the indicators declared by the manufacturer.

In general, Passat SS engines can be characterized with positive side. The motors of this model range are bright representatives German quality and functionality, even if they cannot be noted for something phenomenal. We hope that the information provided today was useful to you. Good luck on the roads!

Video review of the Volkswagen Passat SS:

Passat CC was released in 2008, made entirely on the Passat's B6 platform. There is practically no technical difference between these cars, only external differences. Today I will try to tell you how to choose a good and reliable Passat CC.

4 engines and gearboxes that can be taken on this car.

1. You can take diesel version, CBAB engine, has virtually no problems, very good engine, if you fill the correct diesel fuel. You also need to properly maintain it, that is, change the oil at the time. The main thing is to have as little sulfur as possible in diesel fuel. Refuel at the top gas stations and there will be no problems. It can be taken both on the mechanics and on the DSG dq250.

2. The option that you can take is the VR 3.6 version and this is a very rare car, but you can safely take it, there are no problems there either.

3. Two-liter cczb engine on DSG dq250. There is another Passat CC about which few people know. The Passat CC version is automatic, the same two-liter engine, but with an automatic transmission, which was installed on the B6 Passat, but I have never seen these cars in my life. Most likely, they did not initially go to America, and therefore in Russia I simply did not encounter them. In my opinion, it is silly to carry Passat CC from America, although many people do it.

BZB is probably the most reliable motor, which was put on the car, it really has a rather large resource and does not take out the brain of the owners. There is such a motor called CGYA, this is a motor that has received all the pluses and all the pluses of the CDAB motor, in addition to the piston group, there is also an electronic pressure regulator oil system and this is exactly the motor that received new buns, but at the same time, the reliability of the cylinder-piston group remained old, so if you buy a Passat CC with a 1.8 engine, then firstly we take the mechanics in order not to get on the q200, and secondly look for the motor to be CJYA, you will not have problems with it.

Under no circumstances should you take:

The CDAB motor, which is known no less than the DSG dq200 for its unreliability, namely the oil burner.

In general, Passat CC does not like winter very much, and this is due not only to frameless windows, but also to the gas tank opening mechanism. There is an electric drive for the gas tank hatch here, there is a button on the door to open the gas tank. Here there is an ordinary servo drive and ordinary traction. In winter, when the hatch freezes, the traction just flies, you can hear how the servo works. it is better to make an ordinary plastic screed. Press it with a clamp and it will stop flying off.

The Volkswagen Passat SS is based on the VW Passat B6 and has been assembled in the German city of Emden since 2008. Until August 2010, part of the Passat CC for Russian market gathered in Kaluga. The prefix SS stands for Comfort Coupe. The appearance of the Passat CC is unlikely to leave anyone indifferent, as it is harmonious and cannot be repeated. SS looks much more expensive than it actually costs. In 2011, a new version of the Passat SS was released, which, in fact, was a restyling, in order to bring appearance to the general corporate style.

How is it with reliability? Having received a common platform and technical stuffing from the Passat B6, the SS acquired the same problems. But first things first.

Engines

Volkswagen Passat SS received a wide range of power units: 4-cylinder petrol turbo engines 1.8 TSI (152 hp) and 2.0 TSI (200 hp and 210 hp after restyling), atmospheric V- shaped petrol “six” with a working volume of 3.6 liters (300 hp) and a 4-cylinder turbodiesel 2.0 TDI (140 hp and 170 hp after restyling).

The most common 1.8 TSI engine is generally reliable. The turbocharger is hardy and has a good resource reserve. But increased consumption oil (up to 1 liter per 2-3 thousand km) is a common "disease" that affects up to 60% of cars after 50-80 thousand km. "Oil burner" affects all models of the concern with this engine, incl. and Skoda. Volkswagen recently released a repair kit that includes upgraded pistons and rings. In the event that owners complain about increased oil consumption, dealers make a control measurement of oil consumption. When the “illness” is confirmed, official services replace the piston: during the warranty period - free of charge, if the warranty is over, then only at the expense of the owner. On cars that left the assembly line after restyling and underwent a “overhaul”, the problem of “oil burner” occurs less frequently.

Another nuisance that can take you by surprise and make you seriously fork out is the jump of the timing chain with a run of more than 70-100 thousand km. The culprit is the chain breaker. After April 2011, the damper was improved and the problem did not reoccur.

VW Passat CC USA (2008 - 2011)

2.0 TSI is structurally similar to the younger 1.8 TSI, but it is considered more reliable. He is devoid of the sores described above. 3.6 FSI was also not seen in the list of possible problems.

On diesel 2.0 TDI 140 hp with a run of more than 50-100 thousand km, the flywheel may rattle. In an unofficial service, you will have to pay about 25 thousand rubles for a new flywheel and about 8 thousand rubles more for work. At dealers, replacing the flywheel will cost significantly more.

Many owners note the relatively loud operation of the fuel pump. Some manage to get the replacement of the “humming” pump under warranty, after which the long-awaited silence sets in. Also, sometimes there are problems in the cooling system associated with leakage of the pump, pipes or radiator.

Transmission

All power units, with the exception of V6 3.6, can be combined with a 6-speed manual transmission. "Mechanics" is generally reliable. Some owners note the lack of clarity of gear shifting due to the excessively long travel of the clutch pedal, grabbing at the very bottom. There are cases of noise from the bearing of the input shaft of the box.

VW Passat CC R-Line (2008 - 2011)

The most widespread and the number of complaints was preselective automatic transmission DSG gear 7 with double dry clutch, compatible exclusively with the 1.8 TSI engine. Claims, as a rule, appeared at a run of more than 20-40 thousand km due to jerking in traffic jams when switching from first to second and back, vibrations at the time of start and during acceleration in 2nd gear. Dealers replaced the clutch, but this did not guarantee a complete solution to the problem. Soon the vibrations could reappear. Then it was the turn to replace the mechatronics with a run of more than 50-90 thousand km. In rare cases, services resorted to replacing the box. For comparison: the cost of a new box is about 300 thousand rubles, mechatronics - about 90 thousand rubles, clutch - about 20 thousand rubles, and replacement work - 10-15 thousand rubles. More often, problems manifested themselves on the Volkswagen Passat SS, operated mainly in urban traffic jams. It is generally accepted that the transfer of the box to the "manual" or "sports" mode when it gets into a protracted traffic jam avoids possible faults. It is gratifying that the problem is not universal and affected no more than a third of the cars. Meanwhile, Volkswagen continued to search for ways to treat the disease: it produced new version ECU firmware of the box and upgraded the clutch and the box itself. But the "antidote" has not yet been found. Having made concessions, in the face of the pressure of numerous complaints, the manufacturer extended the term warranty service DSG 7 up to 5 years or 150 thousand km.

Robotic DSG 6 with wet clutch was installed in tandem with diesel, V6 3.6 l, and after mid-2010 and 2.0 TSI. This transmission is considered more reliable, but cases of the need to replace the clutch have been recorded here as well.

The classic 6-speed Aisin automatic transmission until mid-2010 was used only with a 2-liter TSI petrol. The weak point of the box is the hydraulic valve block, which caused shocks when shifting gears with a run of more than 70-120 thousand km. The cost of a new block is about 50-60 thousand rubles, repairs - about 20-25 thousand rubles.

All-wheel drive versions Volkswagen Passat CC are equipped with a Haldex coupling. No problems were noted with her.

VW Passat CC (2011 - present)

Chassis

Passat SS suspension is relatively strong. With the advent of frost, many note the appearance of squeaks and knocks in the suspension when driving through bumps. On cars assembled in 2011, the support bearings of the front struts often begin to crackle with a run of more than 10-20 thousand km. The source of knocks from behind often often become brake calipers.

Body and interior

quality claims paintwork usually does not occur. In rare cases, over time, scuffs may appear inside the doorways at the point of contact with the seals. Plastic lining at the bottom rear window above the trunk lid sometimes bursts. Gradually becomes cloudy chrome on the outer decorative inserts. If earlier dealers, upon receipt of complaints, replaced the darkened element, now such cases are not covered by the guarantee until the chrome begins to swell (very rare). Often found to be missing rear bumper(400-800 rubles from dealers). Many note fogging of the headlights and the appearance of insects in the front and rear optics (non-warranty cases).

In winter, the gas tank hatch often freezes. You can open it after warming up the car in a heated parking lot. And as a prevention of freezing, it is necessary to treat the lock with a special water-repellent lubricant. Another winter problem is the freezing of windows, which is why they do not drop down and the doors do not open. Some owners inadvertently pull the door and turn out the seal. To eliminate problems after washing in frost, it is necessary to thoroughly blow out the seals with compressed air and process them special composition. The manufacturer does not recommend the use of silicone-based lubricants for this. With the advent of winter, delays appear in the electric drive for folding / unfolding mirrors - the response time reaches 10-20 seconds !!! There are cases of burnout heating element windshield heating (warranty case).

The plastic of the interior with the advent of cold weather can creak until the interior warms up. The creaking panorama also contributes to the frost. Knocks and creaks when driving through bumps can be caused by loose door locks, usually the front ones. To fix, you need to adjust the lock. There is also a less expensive "collective farm" method - wrapping the lock brackets with electrical tape. Metallic squeaks or clicks in the heat in the area of the rear luggage rack are caused by the movement of metal body panels at the welds. The solution of the problem by the manufacturer is reduced to mechanical impact on free panels for the purpose of unloading. Simply put, with a screwdriver, increase the gap between the body elements in the area of \u200b\u200bthe rear shelf and lubricate the places where they come into contact with each other.

VW Passat CC (2008 - 2011)

It is not uncommon for condensation to accumulate in the trunk lid and in the space between the roof and the headlining. There are leaks through the windshield seal.

Some owners complain about the appearance of scuffs on the side support of the driver's seat with leather upholstery with a run of more than 20-40 thousand km. There are also complaints from owners with fabric seats.

Other problems and malfunctions

The "Volkswagen" winter creak of the heater fan is also found on the Volkswagen Passat SS.

Volkswagen electrics can traditionally "make themselves felt". For example, the spontaneous opening of doors, the opening of one of the side windows, the movement of an electric seat during a trip. In winter, the image is distorted by the rear view camera. It is reassuring that such cases are not permanent and are of a “point” nature. Those. having appeared once, it is unlikely to repeat again soon.

If the emblem covering the rear view camera does not open, there is no image from the camera, the trunk lid opens or closes spontaneously, the lights do not turn on reversing or trunk lighting, which means that the harness connecting the power consumers of the trunk lid to the body has frayed. The cost of a new harness is about 1.5-2 thousand rubles. There are also problems with the glass closer control unit.

Conclusion

Statistics show that in reality, no more than 30-40% of owners face serious problems, such as a DSG box. The figure is certainly high, but far from sky-high. "Oil burner" in most cases is "not fatal", and cases of chain jumping are rare. Other faults are even less common. Do not be afraid of the Volkswagen Passat CC. The car will give you a lot of pleasant impressions. In addition, Volkswagen is trying to eliminate all design flaws in a timely manner. But unscrupulous dealers often hinder good intentions themselves by refusing to warranty repair, and further undermining the reputation of the automaker.

Almost all Passat CCs are front-wheel drive, except for top version with a 3.6 VR6 engine. Actually, this is a bit strange considering the positioning of the model, but in practice front wheel drive enough. At least until there is no snow and mud, and the asphalt is dry.

Some serious problems the mechanical part of the transmissions of front-wheel drive cars does not exist at all. If the CV joint covers are intact, then everything works fine until runs far beyond two hundred thousand kilometers.

Of course, with all-wheel drive cars there is more trouble. cardan shaft after a hundred or one and a half thousand mileage, it requires repair or maintenance, and the oil in the angular gear, as in rear axle, you need to change every 50 thousand. In the Haldex coupling, it is better to do this every 30 thousand, especially if the car drives in winter.

Six-speed mechanical box familiar to all owners of Volkswagen cars. With engines up to 1.8 liters, the MQ250 was installed, with two-liter engines and diesel engines - the MQ350. Weak spots the MCP has it, but they appear either during tuning or at high mileage.

Volkswagen CC"2012–17

The younger series of boxes is characterized by weak grip. Even with a standard 250 Nm of torque, it serves less than a hundred thousand and does not differ in ease of use. Moreover, a two-mass flywheel with a resource of 120-150 thousand is not cheap.

In the older box, the clutch is noticeably more serious, but the flywheel does not last much longer. Here you can order flywheel kits for clutch from VR6. However, this is only necessary for those who tune motors.

The weak point of any box is the differentials. Shock loads and prolonged slipping easily kill the axis of the satellites. Frequent oil changes can help here, and if you like to drive, then at least you will have to change the axle to a tuning one with an oil channel. Well, or change the differential to reinforced.

Automatic transmissions on the SS come in three series. Basically - well-known DSG boxes DQ200 with dry clutch and DSG DQ250 with wet clutch. And the classic automatic transmission Aisin TF60SC / TF61SC, aka 09G, aka AQ250 or AQ450, is much less common, depending on the version and notation.

The Aisin automatic machine can be found with 1.8 TSI engines on cars of the first year of production or on American cars (mainly with a VR6 3.6 engine). We published about this automatic transmission, but we will briefly repeat what was said: the mechanical part of the box is quite reliable, but the valve body wears out heavily with dirty oil and is difficult to repair. GDT overlays of a classical design are quickly erased during active movement: they are not designed for regular “floating” blocking.

With timely oil changes, a calm style of movement, reduction of oil change intervals to 40 thousand and refinement with the installation of an external fine oil filter, the box shows itself to be very reliable. But few people bother with this, so on average, after 100-120 thousand kilometers without changing the oil, the first problems begin: jolts, bumps during switching, rough work and loss of dynamics.

Small repairs usually don't help much. Simply replacing the solenoids will not work, and there are no original ones for sale. Replacing the valve body assembly is an expensive pleasure, and repairing with Sonnax kits with the installation of new plungers and solenoid housings and the solenoids themselves requires a good work culture and understanding of the processes. Often disguised expensive repairs a banal flushing of the valve body is served with the replacement of the most worn out solenoids and adaptation, which is not enough for a long time. Well, a typical sign of a “wiring” of a service is an attempt to persuade “everything” to be replaced. Usually, not even all the rejected components are actually changed, and a very significant difference goes into the pocket of the “service”.

The box is diagnosed quite well by the scanner, and when buying, you should definitely check the operation of the box after full warm-up.

With 1.4 TSI and 1.8 TSI engines, a seven-speed “robot” DQ200 was installed. His fame is the darkest, but the copies that have come down to our times have long been repaired, modernized or completely replaced. So everything is far from being so scary, just avoid cars of the first years with very low mileage. There is some chance to buy a car with a problematic version of both the box and the motor.

Until 2012, the DQ200 on cars before restyling had problems both with the mechatronics and with the mechanics of the gearbox itself. Her shift fork bearings often fell apart, the forks themselves broke, the clutch overheated. After changing the generation of the box, the number of problems began to wane: the new generation upgraded the mechanical part, forks, changed clutches, changed mechatronics and control software. As a result, the box has become a little less dynamic, but much more reliable. From the previous generation, only a weak differential and a not very predictable resource of clutches and a dual-mass flywheel remained, which is highly dependent on the human factor, pollution and load.

And still, even on a late box, bearings and forks can occasionally fail. However, you can learn more about this. I think you should not be afraid of such a box with a thorough check. In repair, they are far from being as expensive as they were five or seven years ago, the main problems have been identified, and there are spare parts.

Six-speed DSG boxes of the DQ250 series, which were installed on diesel engines and older gasoline ones are somewhat more reliable initially. The clutches here are in an oil bath and are made in the form of a package of large clutches, the gearbox oil pump is mechanical, and therefore there are no problems at all. The clutch life is more stable, due to pressure leaks and pump wedges, the mechatronics wiring does not burn. Well, now about the sad.

During clutch operation, the oil in the DQ250 is heavily contaminated. It has a lot of magnetic wear products, which harms not only the mechanics of the box, but also the solenoids. And the regular external filter of the automatic transmission solves the problem only partially.

When the motor torque is above 350 Nm, the bearings of the box and the differential fall into the risk zone. “Killed” dual-mass flywheels severely damage the mechanical part of the box and lead to oil leakage and serious damage.

The relatively low price of this automatic transmission leads to the fact that it is used to replace the somewhat more capricious seven-speed DQ200 in the event of a global breakdown of the latter. But the DQ250 itself on well-tuned engines is being replaced with the older version of the DQ500 - a seven-speed box with wet clutches, even stronger and more resourceful.

Volkswagen CC"2012–17

Motors

All SS gasoline engines rely on fairly reliable and trouble-free control and cooling systems. Even on ten-year-old machines, all components can be "native". Of course, when tuning, some people try to replace the ignition coils with "reinforced" red ones from the Audi R / RS, and the contamination of the radiators and the serviceability of all additional electric pumps must be monitored both ways. But with stock or almost stock engines, all this works quite reliably.

The most popular Passat SS engines are 1.8- and 2.0-liter engines of the EA888 series. Usually - the first and second generations of the series in relatively simple versions.

Until the latest piston group updates in 2013, all EA888 engines are prone to high oil appetite, and the timing remains quite problematic on more “fresh” versions.

The direct injection system cannot be called problem-free either, and the cost of repairs of this injection is much higher than that of a conventional distributed one.

Unfortunately, there is an opinion among owners that a supercharged engine should eat oil. Many are delaying correcting problems with an appetite of up to a liter per thousand kilometers, although indications for decarbonization or bulkheads are an appetite of a liter per ten thousand kilometers. Decarbonizing with Dimexide, which is now fashionable, is complicated by the fact that the oil pan is painted here and clogs the oil receiver with paint, and the plastic in the timing and the Dimexide pressure sensor cannot be tolerated.

A standard repair with the replacement of a piston group with a modernized one and the replacement of a timing belt usually costs up to 150 thousand rubles.

In general, buying a car with these engines is still a lottery. Everything needs to be checked: engine lubrication, crankcase ventilation system, turbine condition, presence of oil deposits on pistons, presence of a "fur coat" on intake valves and oil appetite in general. In general, it requires a person who knows specific motors well. It is also desirable to know exactly what version of the motor is, with which piston group, with which oil pump, which timing support and chains.

The 1.4 TSI engines on the Passat CC are represented by a late version of the EA111 engines, and we did not sell cars with the EA211. And it's a pity, because potentially the second generation of 1.4 TSI engines is the most reliable. But the first one turned out.

Volkswagen Corporation cars continue to be in great demand in Russia. How on secondary market, and on a new one, these cars are respected and many potential owners try to buy. Of course, today this is far from the same Volkswagen that was a dozen years ago, but still the machine may well meet the expectations of buyers. If you have taken a swing at purchasing a VW Passat CC, you will have to look exclusively at the secondary market, since in 2015 the production this vehicle was terminated. It was this year that they released the last anniversary version of Dynamic Black and completed the story interesting model. But today we will talk about the version before restyling, which was produced from 2008 to 2012. VW itself calls all the Trade Winds in the CC version the only generation, but admirers of this technology still distinguish two versions. Until 2012, the first generation was produced, which today has a more attractive price tag in the secondary market.

The car received a rather interesting design and was very different from the usual type of Passat. Then the generation Passat 6 was in use, and its design was practically not taken as the basis of the car. By and large, the car could have received a completely different name, but marketers decided to take advantage of the popularity of the company's large sedan to promote new model it was easier. And in this the corporation was not mistaken. Until today, every motorist knows that there is such a special version of the Passat that you really want to buy. Today we will discuss the pros and cons of the car, and its cost and capabilities, as well as give certain recommendations for purchasing. We will also consider potential competitors for this car and compare them in terms of prices and years of production. Let's find out more about whether to buy a Volkswagen Passat CC for daily use.

The main advantages of the car - the advantages of VW

Of course, this car was always bought not for technical data, hoarfrost for practicality. The main criterion for choosing such a car is the design. Until today, cars produced before restyling look great. Their appearance is emphasized by a visually elongated shape that creates a sense of dynamics even in the absence of physical movement. The salon corresponds to such moods and does not let the buyer down in terms of beauty and convenience of all controls.

Among the advantages of the machine he names the following features:

  • style is a really cool car that you can admire for a very long time, even if the car is not the most modern, but in its appearance it retains many unique features and features;
  • confidence on the road sport car, which received unique developments in terms of the suspension, so that the model grabs the road in a sporty bravo and assertively;
  • comfort - despite the sporting habits, the car remains soft, and the heavy body complements the pleasant behavior of the transport on the road, the driver will be delighted with the first test drive;
  • power and dynamics - vegetable engines were not installed on the CC, only powerful and voluminous units were immediately given to the machine, which allowed the car to be operated in any conditions;
  • frameless glazing is a solution that Subaru used extensively in the past, and it is also the first Volkswagen model from the modern range with such an unusual feature.

The beautiful interior turns out to be even better than you expect to see. The first generation was produced from 2008 to 2012, and in these years of development there were not many really beautiful interiors. Make sure you are buying a car good condition. Otherwise, you will have to spend a lot of money on updating the interior. The cost of parts for restoration is cosmic. Indeed, despite the mass character of the car, the company itself considers it exclusive and does not hesitate to raise the price of spare parts.

The main disadvantages of buying a VW Passat with a CC prefix

Auto can hardly be called practical. It was created to please the eye, and not to carry the owner to the country and transport sacks of potatoes. There is not enough space in the trunk, for the sake of design, its volume was cut. There is also not much space above the head. These shortcomings are compensated by excellent design, but for many buyers this may not be the most pleasant surprise. The second row of seats is much less comfortable here than in a regular Passat.

Also among the shortcomings note the following features:

  • steering - you don’t expect such sluggish steering from a semi-sports car, this situation was corrected in 2012, but before that the car can hardly be called successful in this regard;
  • sensors and electronics - in the first generation Passat CC there were rain sensors, a start-stop system and other electronics, which over time starts to work as it pleases;
  • engines can be written not only in pluses, but also in minuses, popular 1.8 TSI engines can hardly be called successful, they eat oil, and their turbine is actively destroyed, the chain does not live too long;
  • low clearance also became a victim of design, but for Russian conditions this is not always acceptable, the low front overhang is especially problematic, the bumper has to be repaired often;
  • maintenance cost - the car is very expensive, spare parts for restoration and even for regular maintenance cost a lot of money, so this is a car for those who have the means.

Of course, it is difficult to imagine a person who buys a Passat CC for the last money. But still, you expect more practicality from a car with the VW brand. The car can actually be pleasant to carry and be a true friend to the owner, but it will never become practical and pleasant to maintain. Any detail during restoration will make you regret buying such a car. So you will have to think about the price of content right away so as not to get an unpleasant surprise in the future. In fairness, we note that the machine does not break down too often.

Technical parameters - which version to choose?

Among the engines, the most popular in Russia are 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TSI petrol units. The first gives out 152 forces, the second - 211 or 200 depending on the version. Also sometimes found with a 3.6 FSI V6 engine with a 4Motion all-wheel drive system. In the generation after restyling, diesel cars with 2.0 TDI began to appear, but the practicality and quality of this diesel engine is in question. In the secondary market, it is better to look at gasoline engines, while giving preference to 2.0 TSI. This is a more advanced engine.

The most important characteristics of the machine are as follows:

  • engines with a volume of 2 liters show fewer breakdowns, but they are more expensive on the market, they are also more powerful than their younger brother in the concern, they have much less childhood illnesses;
  • the 1.8 TSI engine is also good in running, it does an excellent job with active and fast driving, but the engine requires an ideal quality of service and constant monitoring of the condition, otherwise problems cannot be avoided;
  • in those days, such cars were still produced with mechanics, and even though there are not so many of them on the secondary market, it is worth choosing just such an option, the manual transmission never fails in the CC Passat;
  • among the machines, the most popular version was the DSG robot, which at that time had not yet been worked out too much in the VW concern, so there were problems with robotic gearbox enough;
  • front-wheel drive is enough, on such a low car four-wheel drive on the older engine was more a tribute to style and status, so there is no point in chasing this version.

If the stock of money allows you to buy an all-wheel drive version with a naturally aspirated 6-cylinder 3.6 engine, you can look for such an option. The machine will delight you with reliability, a long resource of units and excellent driving performance. But you don't have to pay for it. The motor is rather sluggish in the city, and the machine completely kills all its advantages of large volume. So the 2.0 TSI may be an even more acceptable alternative for the buyer. In each case, you need to look at the type of engine that is optimal for you.

Which competitors should be considered when buying?

Among the stylish sedans with an interesting design of cars, there are not so many. Passat CC 2010 with a 1.8 TSI engine can be bought for 550-600 thousand rubles in fairly good condition. Auto offers decent technology, albeit not entirely without problems. Also, a nice style will be a unique feature, and you will hardly find so many interesting additions to the design from rivals. But if you like to choose from several alternatives, there are a few more machines worth considering.

Here are just a few representatives from the class of competitors:

  1. Opel Insignia 2012. A beautiful car with good design, excellent technology and pleasant features on the go. The 2.0 engine produces 160 horsepower and is good luck, with it there are practically no such problems that sometimes arise with VW engines.
