Ephesus - Turkish quality beer. The manufacturing company produces not only hop products, but also soft drinks. They spread all over the world: in Russia, Europe, Asia, the CIS. The company owns 14 factories where beer is brewed, 6 complexes where malt is produced and hops are processed. The sales volume is impressive, the company is among the ten leaders in the world.

Description of Ephesus beer

The production of beer of this brand began in the 50s. last century. Since then, it has only been developing and making itself felt at various competitions, such as: World Beer Cup, Monde Selection, Superior Taste Award, International Stevie Awards, etc.

The dark beer of this brand is associated in color with cola, under the sun's rays it changes shade to ruby. The foam lasts for a long time, as it should be in an intoxicating drink. The aroma is like a neat mixture of malt, toffee, molasses. The taste combines not just hops with caramel, but also chocolate with dried fruits. Fortress - 6.5%.

The most popular and awarded type of Efes brand of foam is Efes Pilsener. It has a golden color, the foam is resistant, remains on the walls of the glass. The sweet taste of malt is complemented by a subtle bitterness of hops, suitable for fried chicken, pork ribs. Fortress - 5.0%.

Efes Xtra is a light classic beer. The foam is persistent but not high. The smell of the product combines notes of malt, fruit and hops. The beer is dense, smooth, the taste of malt is felt first of all, then white bread, grape juice, caramel from fruits are felt. The intoxicating drink has a strength of 7.5%.

A mixture of dark and pale malts contains exclusively Efes Fusion. The drink has an amber color and persistent foam. The sweetness of the apple in the aroma of this product and the hops in second place, in the first place - strong malt. Beer refreshes, increases appetite, it can be taken as an aperitif.

Efes Malt is a transparent, amber color. The white cap of foam stands for a long time and remains on the walls of the glass. In aroma, hops are much inferior to malt. The taste of malt also dominates, there is malic acidity, which adds originality to the drink. Chilled beer reveals all the notes of taste better. Fortress - 5.0%.

Manufacturer and brewing features

Efes beer is owned by the Anadolu Efes brewing corporation. It ranks first in the sale of intoxicating drink in Turkey. Efes Pilsner drink from this manufacturer is sold in more than 70 countries around the world.

Initially, Efes brand products were produced only for Turkish buyers, later they began to export them. Production expanded, the number of breweries grew every year. The company registered seven types of hops and barley, introduced innovations in brewing. 1986 was distinguished by the fact that in Turkey for the first time they began to pour the drink into cans.

An important point in brewing is that the product is not pasteurized, but immediately filled with a tank (a large metal barrel for transportation). The goods are not stored in a warehouse, but are delivered to the desired cities. This allows you to keep the aroma of a fresh drink.

Varieties of Ephesus beer and their cost

Ephesus produces products of different brands from all over the world: Zolotaya Bochka, Zhigulevskoe, Grolsch, Chernigovskoe.

A case of Korona Extra beer will cost more than 1,000 rubles, and a package of Krombacher Radler, consisting of 24 half-liter cans, costs more than 2,000 rubles.

20 bottles of Stella Artois (non-alcoholic) costs no more than 1 thousand rubles. 1 bottle of Becks 0.5 l costs about 50 rubles, and Warsteiner Premium Verum 0.33 l - 100 rubles.

Drink Based Cocktail Recipes

If you are a lover of cocktails, then you can make them yourself from Efes beer.

For the Radler cocktail, you will need a bottle of Warsteiner, lemon juice, lemonade (0.5 l) and syrup for it. Mix the syrup with the soda, then pour this liquid into the beer. Add remaining ingredients and drink.

The next cocktail is Princess. It includes Efes Pilsener, ginger, white grapes. Berries need to be cut in half, mixed with ginger. The resulting mixture should be poured with cold beer. The drink is ready.

Honigbier Honey Cocktail has a simple recipe. First you need to heat up the light German beer Bavaria, without bringing it to a boil. Then add honey and oatmeal flakes to it. Mix everything and pour cognac or vodka. Such a cocktail warms and improves mood.

The Gourmet cocktail will appeal only to experimenters who like to try something new and unusual. To prepare it, you need to pour 2 bottles of Green Beer into a saucepan, mix with cinnamon and lemon zest. Then bring the mixture to a boil.

At the same time, mix half a glass of dry white wine and 2 tsp, starch. Pour this mixture into boiling beer and turn off the heat. Then pour another half a glass of wine and pour 150 g of sugar. Reheat the mixture, then pour in the raw egg mixed with the lemon juice.

Types of beer Ephesus

Efes Dark, 6.1%

A typical European-style dark lager. The color resembles Coca-Cola: dark brown, in the light - with a ruby core. Creamy fine foam lasts long enough, leaving a "lace" on the walls of the glass. The aroma is a mix of roasted malt, molasses, toffee, dried apples.

In a sweetish-malty taste, tones of caramel, dried fruits, chocolate, burnt sugar are balanced by subtle bitterness of hops. The body is dense, carbonation is medium. Great refreshing beer for the hot season.

The original product made in Turkey has a slightly higher strength than licensed in Russia - 6.5%.

Efes Pilsen, 5.0%

The flagship variety, which brought the largest number of international awards to the brand. At the Russian factories belonging to the Efes group, beer is produced under the Efes Pilsener brand.

It has a characteristic golden-straw color for a pilsner, the foam is moderately plentiful, but it keeps well and sticks to the walls of the mug. The aroma is honey, with herbaceous and floral notes. The taste is soft, well balanced - the hop bitterness does not interrupt, but complements the sweetness of the malt.

It will make a worthy gastronomic pair of fried pork ribs, grilled chicken, tuna carpaccio.

Efes Xtra, 7.5%

A strong version of an American pale lager. The color is bright golden, with a hint of copper, the foam cap is low, but dense and does not settle for a long time. The aroma has a grain-malt component, in the background - tones of baked apple, pear, grassy hops.

The carbonation is medium, the body is smooth, full and dense, which is expected from the initial wort extract of 15%. The taste is also dominated by the sweetness of malt, complemented by notes of white bread, fermented grape juice, fruit caramel. The bitterness of hops is palpable, but not intrusive, alcohol is manifested by warming warmth and a slight pungency.

A good winter beer that can emphasize the taste of hearty meat snacks: dry-cured ham, smoked pork ribs, roasted turkey.

Efes Fusion, 4.7%

A light lager introduced to the Russian market in 2008 by Efes Rus. The premiere of beer in the fusion style was accompanied by a large-scale advertising campaign, in which the popular Mumiy Troll group took an active part. When brewing, a unique mix of malts is used - dark and light varieties Efes.

It has a rich amber color, transparent to the light. In the glass it forms a dense, finely porous head of foam. The aroma has strong malt tones, in the background - hop spice, sweet apple. The taste is clean, refreshing, with noticeable fruitiness and slight bitterness.

Efes Malt (Efes Özel Harman Malt), 5.0%

A classic German pilsner in the interpretation of Turkish brewers, which replenished the brand line in 2012. Beer golden-amber color, completely transparent. The foam cap is white, fine-grained, quite persistent. The aroma is pronouncedly malty, hop tones sound muffled.

The body is light, medium density, high carbonation. The soft taste is dominated by the sweetness of malt, notes of rye bread crust and spices, light apple sourness bring variety.

Beer Ephesus

Many have heard about Efes Pilsener beer, but not everyone knows that it appeared in Turkey, where it quickly became a sales leader. To date, this drink is sold in 60 countries, and a number of foreign countries own a franchise for the production of this foam, including Russia.

Peculiarities

Pennoe got its name in honor of the ancient city of Ephesus, once located in Asia Minor on the west coast and ranked second in the ancient world after Rome. Turkish brewers make a drink according to old recipes that have been known since the formation of the ancient city.

The modern history of Efes Pilsener began in 1969, and this drink immediately found fans.

Also, the brand itself has repeatedly received awards, among which there is a medal of the European Institute of Quality Monde Selection.

Starting from the second half of the 1990s, the Turkish beer brand Efes began to develop its product in the foreign market by acquiring breweries in other countries. The production of this foam takes place in a number of foreign countries, including Russia, Georgia and Kazakhstan.

Efes Pilsener is a pale pilsner (bottom-fermented beer). The Turkish company has a wide range of beer, but Efes Pilsener is considered the leading variety, which is the only product produced at the brewery in Russia.

Ephesus, brewed in Russia, is distinguished by a less distinct bitterness, a more pronounced aroma of hops and the presence of sweetish notes in the aftertaste. In any case, both versions of the drink are worthy of their attention.

Everything is developing rapidly these days, and the Ephesus manufacturer is also not going to lag behind the trends. A new marketing gimmick was the sale of tank beer. Such a drink immediately after production at the brewery is bottled in barrels. Free from preservatives that help prolong the product's shelf life, this beer is delivered faster to beer bars and cafes, where it is consumed "fresh".

Manufacturer

Efes Pilsener is owned by Anadolu Efes Corporation. In Russia, since 1997, the Efes Rus company has been producing this drink, which has 6 factories in the country and 1 malt complex and also produces tank beer.

"Efes" is rightfully considered a unique intoxicating drink, as it is made according to ancient Turkish recipes that are not similar to European ones.

Its history began in the 2nd half of the 20th century, but it has already won fans around the world, being considered the best-selling Mediterranean foam and becoming the “face” of Turkey in the brewing industry. The Russian Efes Pilsener differs from the Turkish one, but also competes with other brands in the local market.

Be that as it may, Efes Pilsener is spoken of as a brand that has proven itself both in Russia and abroad. It has earned the trust of beer fans for its quite decent taste and reasonable price.

Turkish beer

Turkish beer "Efes"

Indeed, every tourist who has chosen a beach holiday in the resorts of Turkey in the summer is well aware of the refreshing, slightly intoxicating taste of Turkish beer. However, not many tourists are familiar with the history and traditions of brewing in Turkey.

Despite the fact that Turkey is a Muslim country, where the population is very religious, and the Koran imposes significant restrictions on the consumption of alcohol, you can buy a bottle of Turkish beer everywhere, however, drinking it on the go or in public places (parks, mosques and even streets) is manifestation of a lack of culture.

On the contrary, in hotels, especially those operating on an all-inclusive basis, Turkish beer literally flows like water. Tourists should remember the name of beer in Turkish: bira, and you need to pronounce it with an emphasis on the last syllable. Bir bara - one beer, iki bira - two beers. It may seem surprising, but beer was brewed in Turkey in 1970, i.е.

relatively recently (due to the large influx of German tourists who traditionally consume huge volumes of this drink).

Turkish beer "Gusta"

The leader in Turkish brewing is the Efes Beverage Group, which produces 80% of beer in Turkey. Ask any tourist about a brand of Turkish beer and he will name Efes Pilsen without hesitation. This is a light - golden light beer, which is characterized by a rich soft taste, slightly reeking of hop bitterness.

Many tourists complain that Efes Pilsen beer is diluted in Turkish hotels. This is a common misconception. After all, the brewers supply Turkish Efes Pilsen beer to hotels in aluminum pins that are inaccessible for opening and mixing. The reason lies elsewhere.

As a rule, hotels order cheaper Efes Light beer, which is characterized by a significantly lower alcohol content. Despite the leading brand Efes Pilsen, other brands of beer are brewed in Turkey. For example, in the resort area you can find beer bottles with "stickers" well-known in Russia: Turborg and Carlsberg.

I must say that these brands control up to 20% of the Turkish beer market. In addition, local brands such as Venus Pilsner and Troy have been actively developing in recent years.

Turkish beer "Gusta"

And the Efes Beverage Grou brewery produces beer under the Gusta and Marmara trademarks. The first beer is hazy, with a banana flavor that brightens up the fruit. Marmara - strong beer, has a transparent golden color with a bright fruity aftertaste. The strength of this beer is added by the glucose content. In his recipe, you can see rice.

In conclusion of a short article about Turkish beer, it should be noted that in the trading network in Turkey this low-alcohol drink is sold in aluminum cans or darkened glass containers. The cost of one bottle is from 2 to 3 dollars.

When buying Turkish beer in roadside restaurants (during lunch on an excursion), the cost can reach $ 5 for a 0.5 liter can.

Moreover, in restaurants the cost of a bottle of beer reaches 8-12 euros! Therefore, many tourists in Turkey choose hotels with an all-inclusive system, where drinks are included in the price of the tour and therefore are released without any restrictions.

Turkish beer Efes (Efes)

Beer can hardly be called a national Turkish drink. However, despite the fact that the restaurants and bars of Istanbul offer the widest range of famous beer brands, the most popular of them is, perhaps, Efes Pilsen (Pilsener), which appeared on the market back in 1969.

Turkish holding Anadolu Efes Biracılık ve Malt Sanayii A.Ş. (Anadolu Efes, www.anadoluefes.com), together with its divisions and affiliates, produces and bottles (bottles) beer in Turkey, Russia, as well as a number of CIS countries, southeastern Europe and the Middle East.

By the way, the Efes Beer Group, which is part of it, sponsors the Istanbul basketball team Efes Pilsen S.K.

The name of the popular Turkish brand is easily explained.

Recall that the ruins of the ancient city of Ephesus, which have become the most popular attraction in Turkey, are located near Izmir, where one of the holding's breweries is located. The most common bottom-fermented beers in Europe are usually called "lagers".

At the same time, in many countries, most local varieties of lager are called Pilsen beer, which brewers from Bohemian Pilsen (now the Czech Republic) brewed for the first time back in 1842. They say that it was this delicate golden drink with excellent taste that gave rise to the custom of drinking beer not from wooden or ceramic mugs, but from glass goblets.

In addition to the traditional Efes Pilsen, the holding's products include, for example, low-calorie Efes Light or caramel-flavored Efes Dark, with notes of coffee and chocolate Efes Dark Brown or high-alcohol Efes Xtra, in addition, Turkey's first wheat beer Gusta and Gusta Dark, Mariachi and Mariachi Black lime or agave flavored beers, Marmara Gold and Marmara Kırrmızı strong beers, and the classic Bomonti beer. As you know, the production of a drink so popular in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century was established in Istanbul by the Bomonti family of Swiss brewers, whose surname gave the name to the semtu in the Sisli district, where the first brewery was located.

Turkish beer

Turkey is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the post-Soviet space. And since tourists come here, it means that the host country is trying to satisfy all their desires.

And one of the desires that often dominate a large part of tourists is to drink beer. Turkish industry is actively responding to this desire. Although back in the seventies of the last century, only one Turkish beer was brewed here - “Tekel Birasi”.

The tourists were sad, but they had no choice. Now the situation is more fun.

Turkish beer can be bought in cafes, shops, restaurants - after all, the purchase - sale of alcoholic beverages in this country is regulated by more loyal laws than in European countries or in the same America. But the local mentality does not encourage the use of alcohol, including Turkish beer in public places.

Turkish beer is primarily Efes beer. If only because the brewing company "Efes Beverage Group" controls three-quarters of the local market. This company owns five factories and three malt houses - the production of malt for the manufacture of Turkish beer.

As marketers of “Efes Beverage Group” proudly declare, their company is among the ten largest brewing companies in Europe.

By the way, until the mid-nineties, both in Russia and Ukraine, it was possible to find Turkish beer without any problems, since it was exported here, until their own breweries began to be created.

And although these factories belong to the same Efes Group, which began to develop the markets of Cyprus and Serbia, nevertheless, the income from the export of Turkish beer fell.

The company has taken the path of expanding the range of products offered to consumers - lovers of Turkish beer - products. New brands of foamy drink have appeared. These are “Gusta” and “Marmara”.

Turkish beer "Gusta" has a recognizable banana aroma, has a peculiar hazy yellow color with a pink tint and a refreshing sour taste. The aftertaste is enriched with hop bitterness. Beer knits a little. Refers to the classic varieties of wheat beer. The alcohol content of this product is five percent.

The Turkish beer “Marmara Kirrmizi” is slightly stronger at just over six percent alcohol. It is a drink of light golden color with a very pronounced fruity aroma. The taste is also fruity, malty, and the aftertaste has pear notes. This Turkish beer contains not only traditional hops and malt, but also rice.

Another Turkish Beer Producer

Yes, that's right, in the singular. Because the remaining twenty-five percent of the Turkish beer market in the country belongs to the Danish company Carlsberg, which announced itself in Turkey in 1969.

Initially - until 2008 - the Danes owned a controlling stake in the local company "Turk Tuborg", which had its own brewery in Izmail, quite steadily supplying forty million decalitres of beer annually.

But then almost ninety-seven percent of the shares began to belong to the CBC Group, so now we can talk about a monopoly on this part of the Turkish beer market by Danish producers.

They produce local brands of Turkish beer "Troy" and "Venus Pilsner", as well as the world famous "Tuborg Gold" and "Carlsberg".
