Nissan Pathfinder R51 with mileage: crooked frames and flying wheels. Galvanized body Nissan Pathfinder R51 Starting work on the selection of Nissan Pathfinder

The era of frame SUVs is leaving, which differs from the modern concept of the automotive industry in traditions, which should be a full-fledged 4x4 car. Nissan Pathfinder The R51 is one of the last to close this era. The car was lucky that the frame was borrowed from Navara (F-Alpha platform). We will talk about the advantages (except for the frame) and disadvantages further.

Let's dive into history

The appearance of the Pathfinder, as Pathfinder is translated, occurred in 1985. We know this car Nissan Terrano. During the production process, the car in the United States separated from the twin and became an independent model that can be attributed to crossovers, as evidenced by load-bearing body. The successor in 51 bodies again acquired a classic frame. The car came into being thanks to austerity, which required a modern successor to be made to the maximum use of established technology.

The basis for the SUV is the Navara pickup truck. However, these cars are distinguished not only by the body, but also by the presence of a rear independent suspension, an extended engine range and an automatically connected all-wheel drive for the protagonist of the article. As a result, a rather massive car is born. However, a voluminous body does not mean the same spaciousness in the cabin: in a five-seat cabin in the back, three people will feel discomfort, and the presence of a third row is not provided for an adult passenger. But the luggage compartment is large, and when folding the backs of the sofa, a two-meter bed is obtained, which is priceless for long-distance travel. Whether the car was created for city driving is in doubt. Despite the fact that the car was designed for the American market, the production of cars with diesel unit, also Pathfinder was produced in modest quantities at the plant in St. Petersburg.

The European versions have gone through two restyling regarding the refinement of diesel engines and minor cosmetic issues. Due to the initially weak diesel engine, it was boosted in power and released a diesel V8, working with 7 automatic transmissions.

The car turned out to be not the most successful, but the main task was to preserve the frame, so the “pathfinder” closed the era of “frames” with his departure, giving way to the younger brother of the SUV.

About the body

The frame is considered a huge asset from all angles: improved passive safety, off-road durability, serviceability and high corrosion resistance. But in practice ... The frame easily endures strong jerks when towing and a body lift. In our case, in case of an accident, the frame will not save, but will only aggravate the situation, especially from the financial side during restoration. The frame is not protected from corrosion, which is the cause of many problems when registering a car, when it is impossible to see the frame number. And the components and parts laid along the frame are inconvenient to maintain.

A car designed for off-road - he himself suffers from it. After each departure, it is required to thoroughly wash the frame so that the drains are not clogged, without provoking the appearance of corrosion. After an accident, a minority of craftsmen take up stretching the frame. Even a minor accident entails a complete replacement of the entire assembly. Price new frame goes beyond $ 5000, and used - $ 1200-1500. Additionally, you will have to fiddle with documents.

Required before purchase this car you need to check the frame for geometry and corrosion, especially in the rear. To do this, you have to remove rear bumper and check if the spars are clogged with dirt, and also inspect the frame for welds. If the frame is still “alive”, then it needs to be well serviced: fill the spars cavities with conservation grease, and clean the drains well, but this can only be done with the frame separated from the body. If frame parts such as the cross member, engine and transmission mount brackets, or arm lugs require replacement, they can be purchased separately from the entire frame.

The body, relative to the frame, is not bad, but it is afraid of sandblasting and small scratches with chips. Body repairs are very expensive. If the car was operated off public roads, then the condition of the body will show this. The flow of water into the cabin is a consequence of the unsuccessful design of the roof, since over time the seams under the roof rails rot and let water through. The problem is typical for all Pathfinder R51 cars. The trunk lid often suffers from corrosion in the lower part, and the part above the license plate rots to holes.

Fortunately, the body shape is more “square”, which reduces cost and complexity. body repair. If the car is repainted, and a protective layer, or a ceramic layer, or a film is applied on top, then the body will “live” for a long time. Be sure to lift the carpet on the passenger side. The presence of moisture is due to the flow of washer fluid. The tank is located above the right wheel, and the line is laid along right side, and just under the passenger's feet there is a joint, which eventually loses its tightness, and water accumulates under the rug.

In the pre-styling version frankly weak headlights: Their body is stressed and the glass becomes cloudy over time, resulting in low light. And driving on water contributes to flooding the lamp ignition unit, which is why xenon stops working.

In the cabin

Sitting in the salon, you can forget about all the shortcomings of the body. positive feedback they deserve trouble-free power windows, good door seals and reliable locks. But some elements of “luxury” are only guests in this car. The remote access antenna is so fragile that it does not need to be helped to break it. Frequent failure of the steering column cable prevents the operation of the button block on the steering wheel. Finishing materials are very good, you can sit comfortably here, and in long trip you rightly appreciate this moment. By the condition of the interior, you can also judge whether the car has been used off-road and how often.

About the electrician

The overrunning clutch of the generator requires replacement every 150,000 km, which is not entirely scary. Another thing is the collapsing wiring that runs along the frame, which provides ABS and transfer box is a major nuisance that many Pathfinder owners face. The restyled 2.5 engine is equipped with an electronic turbine actuator, which is not sold as a new spare part. The malfunction is “treated” by soldering the board and repairing the stem. The head unit for the entire period of production of the car is simply in the car. The functionality is low, and display failure is a common problem.

Chassis

If we do not take into account the insufficient efficiency of the front brake mechanisms, and overheating with frequent use of the brakes at full strength, then the resource and reliability brake system sufficient. Brakes can only acquire age-related problems associated with swollen hoses and soured caliper fingers. The front double-lever suspension is archaic, the rear “multi-link” is hardy, but not resourceful enough. Wheel studs require regular replacement: they barely withstand big wheels and low profile, also do not like constriction. The hubs serve no more than 150,000 km, after which they are the first to fail on the rear axle. Of the analogue, Timken proved to be the best. Otherwise, the suspension does not require investments for the first 200,000 km, especially if you follow the ball bearings and silent blocks, which can be changed separately from the levers.

Steering of the simplest design: conventional rack and classic power steering. A worn cardan or a loose rack mount can provoke a knock on the steering rack. Fans of off-road driving should be wary of corrosion of power steering hoses. Hence a small result: if the “pathfinder” was not dragged much off-road, then the car will be in decent condition.

About transmission

Basically, automatic transmissions were installed, you can meet the “mechanics” only on European pre-styling models, and the manual transmission cannot boast of reliability. The automatic transmission before the update had 5 steps, after - 7. The transmission scheme is straightforward: the gearbox is connected to the “razdatka”, and two cardan shaft, to the front and rear axle. The front gearbox is assembled together with a promshaft to equalize the axle shafts. Average resource cardan shafts- 50,000 km. It is recommended to purchase serviced crosses. Rear gear subject to overheating. If you install the breather higher, flush the gearbox, and constantly monitor the cleanliness of the breather, you will save yourself the cost of a new gearbox. If you follow the suspension of the front axle in time, then its resource will reach 400,000 km. The barbaric attitude to the car will be manifested by the noise of the differential bearings as well as knocking crosses. Transfer box does not have center differential, front axle connects with a clutch package. You can choose from four operating modes (2H, 4H, 4L and Auto). There are two modes for driving on asphalt - 2H and automatic.

At automatic mode transfer case bearings serve no more than 120,000 km, and in 2H mode - more than 200,000. The automatic transmission is quite reliable, and this is the case when the new seven-speed “automatic” is more reliable than the previous one. Prior to restyling, 5AKPP was installed as on Kia Sorento. Jatco RE5R05A was not very reliable, however serious problems did not deliver. Jatco 505 is a model of reliability and endurance. Once every 200,000 km, a small repair will be required in the form of replacing the brake band and the gas turbine engine blocking pads. If one friction disc is worn out, then the replacement is carried out in a package. With proper maintenance, the automatic transmission resource is 400,000 km. Unfortunately, samples in the CIS are often found with completely “killed” boxes, the reason for which is untimely replacement oils and speed.

Jatco RE7R01B is a well-redesigned unit, which eliminated the presence of a weak brake drum assembly, and the gas turbine engine block became multi-disc. As reliability increased, so did the need for more frequent oil changes.

About motors

The power line of the Nissan Pathfinder R51 for every taste. If you want power and ease of maintenance, you need the 4L VQ40DE or the 5.6L VK56DE. It will be possible to achieve a piston resource of more than 300,000 km with the help of timely replacement of the timing chain, as well as catalysts or their removal.

YD25DDTi is the “youngest” in terms of volume and power (170 and 190 hp), but also the most economical. With restyling, a V-shaped 6-cylinder engine appeared, with excellent power characteristics, with reduced vibration load, but having its own number of problems. For all motors, a viscous cooling coupling is used, which is better to change every 50,000 km, otherwise the motor will easily overheat. After 2007, the "diesel" got a more advanced fuel system and particulate filter.

The most common engine is 2.5 DTi. The power of the motor is enough to pull the “frame” under various loads, the economy pleases, but the motor literally works for wear and tear. In the process of producing a car, the motor was modernized: turbines with variable geometry appeared, the design of the cylinder head changed due to its cracking. The cylinder head often suffers from overheating, so it is worth installing a Bosch electric pump. Nozzles work properly 200,000 km. A clogged oil receiver is not uncommon, but a consequence of the operation of the motor in critical loads. The timing chain drive is reliable, it needs to be replaced every 200 thousand km.

The 3 liter V6 turned out to be less worthy in terms of reliability compared to the rest. Oil appetite is the “trick” of the motor, rings lie down from this, and the pistons are thermally loaded. No pads for sale crankshaft, although the necks on it are very narrow.

Often an o-ring oil filter enters the pump, after which the motor suddenly wears out due to oil starvation. The resource of the timing chain is a maximum of 120,000 km. With all the advantages of this motor, it has quite strong drawbacks.

Outcome

The third generation Pathfinder is not the cheapest car in its class. She personifies the outgoing era of frame SUVs, reliable and unpretentious. All problems are easily solved, and with proper maintenance, they don’t “hit” your pocket. However, the question arises point-blank: why do we need a frame big car, in which there is no more space than in the average “paretnik”, which, as a result, will come out cheaper in operation. Everyone chooses for himself.

The Pathfinder frame SUV (as Pathfinder is translated) appeared in 1985 and was the twin of the Terrano WD21. But in the USA, with a change of generations, it became an independent model, and it was extremely close to crossovers, since it had a load-bearing body and a clearly light chassis. But its third-generation heir in the back of the R51 again became a frame: in the conditions of austerity in the early 2000s, it was necessary to create a successor for a mid-size SUV, making the most of the available developments.

The new generation was based on the Nissan Navara D40 pickup, aka Frontier, aka Equator, which was released in 2004. True, not only the five-door body was new in the Pathfinder. Behind him, an independent suspension appeared, the range of engines became somewhat wider than that of a pickup truck (there is even a V8 engine), all-wheel drive is automatically connected. Of course, the equipment has also been thoroughly revised. The result is a very large and voluminous car.

Nissan Navara" 2005–10

True, voluminous does not mean spacious. The rear seats in the Pathfinder are cramped even in the five-seater version, and the third row of the "seven-seat" for adult passengers is generally poorly adapted. But the trunk turned out to be large, and if you expand the seats, you get a huge flat sofa more than two meters long. For long distance travel it's the best. And as a family car for the city ... There are some doubts.

However, the car was not offended by the comfort, and the Pathfinder boasts a good ride, a relatively low noise level and good equipment.

From the point of view of technology, everything is done quite simply, in an American way, but nevertheless there is enough comfort, and there are no complaints about it.

With all the "Americanism" of the car, they seriously tried to sell it in Europe. For this, the “pathfinder” was allocated diesel engines and set up its assembly in Spain.

Nissan Pathfinder R51 was produced from 2005 to 2012. The bulk was released in the United States and Spain, and in St. Petersburg, "pathfinders" were collected noticeably less.

Nissan Pathfinder" 2004–10

American and Middle Eastern cars were restyled in 2008, while European and Japanese cars experienced two of them: in 2007, when it was limited to the refinement of diesel engines and minor cosmetic changes, and in 2010, when the range of engines and equipment was seriously shaken up. During this modernization, the power of a relatively weak in-line diesel engine for a heavy car was raised and a new V-shaped diesel engine with a new seven-speed automatic was installed.

Nissan Pathfinder" 2010–14

It cannot be said that the car turned out to be very successful, but it was at least a really frame SUV, but the next generation became simple crossover. Sadly, after the completion of the release of the third "pafic" frame machines Nissan is represented only by pickup trucks and top-end SUVs.

Body

The frame is often considered the focus of all possible advantages: crash safety, high off-road durability, body corrosion protection and serviceability. In practice, this is, to put it mildly, not entirely true. The frame allows you to easily lift and jack the SUV, pull in tow with any force and not be afraid of damage from touching the ground with the bottom. But in case of a good accident, the frame will not save the car, but will only increase the price of work and the severity of the consequences. She herself corrodes with pleasure, and with damage to the number, which can become an obstacle to re-registration of the car. Well, the communications laid along the frame are difficult to maintain.

Nissan Pathfinder" 2004–10

Pathfinder boasts a full range of extra hassle due to the presence of the frame. Over time, it rots, especially with drainage holes clogged with mud and sand, which can be seen literally after one off-road trip. However, city cars also collect dirt under the bottom. And after that, the thick frame spars will gradually begin to rot.

In case of an accident, few people undertake to pull, cut and cook the frame. Very often, with seemingly funny incidents, the frame has to be changed. Accidentally knocked out Zhiguli can cost very expensive work, while outwardly the Pathfinder after an accident can look almost untouched.

original price

320 953 rubles

A new frame costs 300 thousand, “used” in good condition- under a hundred. And, of course, you will have to tinker with re-registration. The number here is stamped right on the frame, in the center opposite the handout.

When buying, it is worth checking the geometry of the frame and the presence of corrosion on it, especially in the rear. It is very convenient to do this by removing the rear bumper: it will be possible to look inside the spars and evaluate the cleanliness of the internal cavities and welds of the transverse elements.

If the frame is still “alive”, it will be necessary to seriously attend to its preservation. At a minimum, pump a preservative into the cavity, clean drainage holes and rinse the cavities from sand and dirt. It is advisable to do this with the removal of the body: in the rear of the frame, the seams of the transverse elements rot from above, and it is difficult to crawl there.

It is dangerous to check the frame “by eye”: a bent frame is not such a rare phenomenon, and it is not as easy to notice it as it seems. It is advisable to check the wheel alignment angles on the breakup stand and at least measure the diagonals with a tape measure.

Fortunately, the age of the machines is such that completely missing parts of the frame have not yet been found, although it is quite possible to find perforation of the spars or loose welds.

In spare parts, there are both entire frames and parts of it, which sometimes makes it possible to relatively cost-effectively restore such typical damage as a curved rear cross member of the frame, rotted “ears” of the upper mount front arm, lower arms, pillar supports rear suspension, crossbars over the "spare wheel" and, of course, rotted brackets of the body supports.

Nissan Pathfinder" 2010–14

If there is any doubt that the frame is straight and not rotten, it is better to abandon this machine. It's too expensive to repair the biggest part. If the machine has traces of off-road use, the inspection should be more thorough. However, this also applies to the body.

The body itself, despite the relatively weak paintwork and not the thickest metal, holds up well. Of course, he really does not like sandblasting and various twigs-bushes, but with the current level of development of paintwork application technologies, these problems are successfully solved. True, the body has more serious “jambs”.

Okay peeling "chrome" - you can paint over and forget. But the design of the roof is surprisingly unsuccessful. Gradually rotting longitudinal seams under the roof rails and sealant can be considered the calling card of the “pafic”. In addition, water begins to flow into the cabin over time.

Nissan Pathfinder" 2010–14

Frame windshield suffers mainly in the upper part, rotting in the recess itself and hardly showing the problem from the outside. If the glass was re-glued, there are high chances of finding small rot on the side pillars. The roof in the back can also let you down - the seams in the upper part rot there. In general, take a stepladder or a chair for inspection.

The back door rusts not only from below. Just there, everything is relatively good, but under the Nissan emblem and near the shiny lining above the license plate niche, the metal simply rots. In the doorway, under the seal next to the rear lights, the seam corrodes, and even on relatively young cars there may be holes.

Nissan Pathfinder" 2010–14

Fenders, doors, hood and even thresholds hold up well. But the leading edges of the wings at the points of contact with the bumper are at risk. Little by little, the edges of the wheel arches peel off, and there can be many small and not very small problems in the arches and on the bottom.

Front wing

original price

20 625 rubles

Fortunately, the body has a minimum number of folds and complex edges, so the chances of success in the repair are maximized. Especially if the car is repainted with a normal layer of paint or "ceramic" is made for it.

Inside, first of all, you need to raise the floor carpet at the passenger's feet. The fact is that the glass and headlight washer reservoir here stands above the right front wheel, on the upper spar. And a tube to tailgate passes right at the feet of the front passenger. Here she has a joint, which eventually begins to leak. And the contents of the tank flows into the cabin. In this case, the seams of the floor reinforcement, the joint with the threshold and the joint with the central tunnel will have obvious red marks. And fixing this problem will be very difficult.

Nissan Pathfinder" 2010–14

However, the car is sometimes heated without problems with the tank. If, after the next “rides”, it was dried without removing the carpets and using moisture-displacing compounds, then the consequences will be the same (including possible problems electricians). In general, climbing under the floor carpet is a must. And it will not be superfluous to look into the trunk: side niches like to collect moisture there.

Other body equipment is made roughly, weighty and it is difficult to break something. But I'll try to be funny.

Roof rails constantly fly out plugs, which can be one of the reasons for problems with roof corrosion. It is desirable to put them on glue.

Nissan Pathfinder" 2004–10

The rear lockers are delicate and very afraid of dirt. Those who ride in the mud will often have hard non-original ones, and even reinforced with a layer of noise. This is worth paying attention to when choosing a car.

Pre-styling headlights crack due to an unsuccessfully loaded body, and they shine poorly. Over time, they lose their tightness, easily “sandblast”, and for gas-discharge headlights, when driving through puddles, the ignition unit is flooded with water.

Salon

The salon is monumental and simple in design. Here, good door seals, good locks and reliable power windows definitely deserve laudatory reviews. But the "elements of luxury" in every possible way show that they are guests here.

Nissan Pathfinder interior "2004–10

The remote access system antenna in the mirror is so fragile that it sometimes breaks on its own. Well, if the glass or mirror was changed, then the probability of collateral damage is very high.

The buttons on the steering wheel stop working due to cable damage. The original part costs eight thousand, which seems like a lot to many, so they rarely change it.

Torpedo Nissan Pathfinder "2010–14

Automatic climate control suffers from weak gear motors. Its electronics, although simple, sometimes also fails, and the supply to the rear heater and air conditioner often becomes a real headache for the owner of a seven-seater car. The tubes are laid under the bottom and corrode intensively, especially if they are not washed a couple of times per season. As a result, problems begin with the cooling system and the non-working air conditioner. Often the rear circuit is simply jammed, resigned to the fact that the back will not be particularly comfortable. But in this case, in the engine compartment, the tees of the heating system are often changed to metal ones.

Nissan Pathfinder instrument cluster "2010–14

In general, the interior is quite quiet, but the distinct hum of the heater fan after six years is getting on your nerves. True, he rarely gets up.

Knocks in the steering column appear due to the wear of the cardan shaft and the weakened fastening of the column itself, which is “pulled off” when they get into the car while holding the steering wheel. Cardans will have to be changed, and the column tightened.

Nissan Pathfinder interior "2010–14

In “urban” cars, visually, the interior keeps well up to one and a half hundred thousand kilometers. Then the mileage is given out by the leather of the seats and the poor coloring of the steering wheel, on which, after six to eight years of operation, cracks and bald patches appear. On the “Americans”, the oak leatherette of the seats in the basic configurations is more reliable, but it loses its texture very quickly.

Electrician

The overrunning clutch of the generator after one and a half hundred thousand needs to be replaced, but this is not scary. But the dirty and rotting wiring harnesses laid along the frame for the rear ABS sensors and the transfer case wiring are already a serious nuisance. The chances of encountering this problem are quite high.

On machines with a 2.5-liter engine, after restyling, there is a turbine with an electric actuator. It breaks down over time, and is not officially supplied as spare parts. Usually it is “treated” by repairing the stem and soldering the board, but sometimes you have to order a new one from Chinese sites or look for masters to restore it.

The head unit on machines before restyling does not please with functionality and reliability. The display often refuses to work, but putting a multimedia device from a restyled car is not so easy, they have different connectors. But just their displays are compatible, and you can put a new sample display in a pre-styling car. True, it is larger, so at the same time you will have to replace the frame.

After restyling, the multimedia system is also not happy with the functionality, but it breaks less often.

Brakes, suspension and steering

The braking system is quite strong and resourceful. Among the shortcomings, one can note the high load on the front brakes with relatively small discs and two-piston floating calipers. With intensive driving, this mechanism heats up a lot.

Nissan Pathfinder" 2010–14

Cars are at an age when brake hoses can already leak and piston seals can wear out. And if dirt was often kneaded on the “pafik”, then you can also encounter severe wear of the caliper fingers.

The front double wishbone suspension is monumental. The rear multi-link, although devoid of an insane margin of safety, is also very hardy.

Nissan Pathfinder" 2004–10

Pay attention to weak wheel studs, which are poorly designed for cast thick wheels and low-profile tires, and also do not like constrictions. If you don’t want to “get out” under an oncoming truck because of broken studs, it’s better to change them regularly and not save on their quality.

The second problem is the hubs. The original ones can last a hundred or one and a half thousand kilometers, with the rear ones usually giving up first. Of the non-original, the “eternal” Timken proved to be the best.

Nissan Pathfinder" 2004–10

Otherwise, there are few questions to the suspension. It does not require more than 200 thousand, if necessary, ball bearings and silent blocks can be replaced separately. And yet, it is better to check the anthers and wash off the dirt after off-road “exploits” regularly.

Steering with a conventional power steering is reliable and rarely fails. Knocks, as we have already said, appear mainly due to the steering column cardan shafts and less often due to the loosening of the rack itself. The rail may leak due to corrosion of the hydraulic lines on the frame or damage to the anthers. Of course, such malfunctions are typical for cars that go on serious off-road, and serve as another reason to stay away from them. Otherwise, there are no serious shortcomings in the steering.

Nissan Pathfinder" 2004–10

I took a new one from the salon in July 2010. I chose between the restyled Pajero and Prado. Expectations for the new "Pajero" did not materialize, "Prado" disappointed completely. I didn’t really want to overpay hundreds of thousands just for the brand. Nissan Pathfinder R51 won me over with its thoroughness and some kind of home comfort. Salon with folded seats, I as an avid fisherman and hunter, finally finished off. Today the mileage is under 100. Operation "to the fullest" - regular trips to the Volga, North, Altai. Comfortable, convenient interior, excellent handling - in 44-46 hours I get from Moscow to Omsk in one hand. Consumption 8.5 - 9 on the highway, about 11 in the city. Changed regular tires: summer 18th, winter-17. Permeability has increased significantly. Power is enough both off-road and on the track. The first three months I flew several times for speeding. The light is excellent, the climate is excellent. But in general Nissan Pathfinder R51 - great car, which successfully combines the qualities of a representative car and an SUV. Which, you see, is a very rare combination today.

Advantages : exterior. Spaciousness. Patency.

disadvantages : build quality.

Nissan Pathfinder R51, 2012

On the Nissan Pathfinder R51, we like to go out into nature with a large company, so we encountered off-road to one degree or another. One thing I can say for sure: the car suits us in everything! Passengers in the front row feel very comfortable, the rear sofa can easily accommodate two child seats. Moreover, the right front seat finished with plastic on the back, which is very convenient, since children are children, and traces of dirty feet are easier to remove from plastic. By the way, the same seat can be transformed, and you get a table. Admittedly, I haven't had to test it yet. It will probably be difficult for tall people sitting on the back sofa of the Nissan Pathfinder R51 to fit their legs comfortably if the front seats are pushed back to the maximum. But for children - that's it. By the way, very tall people (185 and more) and the front seats will not be very comfortable. When you go with a company, the third row of seats comes in handy.

Fuel consumption: I can name the consumption in the combined cycle, as on-board computer showed. When I ran in (it was just summer), 18 liters came out, then 11 liters per 100 kilometers began to come out with an average driving style. About the dynamics - but she surprised me very much! With such a mass and body, the Nissan Pathfinder showed itself very well. You accelerate to a speed of 100 km / h as if in a sedan, and then - diesel is diesel. In my opinion, the maximum on the highway is 140 kilometers per hour. It is capable, of course, of a large one, but this leads to a voltage of the high-pressure fuel pump, and it will consume more. The angle of rotation is too big, like everyone else Japanese cars, this is not a Mercedes for you. I can’t call the suspension of the Nissan Pathfinder R51 too stiff, in the city, if the road is decent, it’s comfortable, and on the highway, even in the field and forest, it’s good if the speed is low. But if the quality pavement leave the best, then all the imperfections of the broken asphalt are painfully felt.

Advantages : practicality. Patency. Reliability.

disadvantages : slightly stiff suspension.

Nissan Pathfinder R51, 2010

So he became the owner of the Nissan Pathfinder R51 2.5 on the "mechanics". First impressions (there is no puppy delight - my years are not the same) - when I took it from the salon - I immediately remembered all the horrors written on the Internet: it doesn’t go, 190 “horses” are not enough for him. So 190 "horses" are great for him! Drove him to Tula from Moscow (180 km). I turned on the 5th speed and into the easy one for all the ascents and overtaking (running in - more than 100 is impossible, but I want and can “drown” the pedal). After running in playfulness to increase. Salon is normal. I have the bare minimum. Just enough. There is no noise in the Nissan Pathfinder R51 cabin. The engine hums nicely. So it's a normal car, and given that I took it for 1 million 360 thousand rubles, it's normal. And to compare it with the Prado, Land Cruiser - then you just have to say that all the cars are bad, compared to the Bentley and Lamborghini. As for how it will “crumble, break” and so on, time will tell. So far, I can only say what they write on the Internet about the lack of traction and miserable noisy salon- all this is not true. Normal car.

Advantages : engine. Patency. Comfort.

disadvantages : I do not see.

Sales market: Russia.

Midsize SUV Nissan Pathfinder is produced for the American and European markets. The European model was manufactured at the Nissan plant in Spain, not far from the city of Barcelona. Russian buyers of the Nissan Pathfinder were offered a choice of two engine options: a four-cylinder 2.5-liter turbodiesel (174 hp) and a four-liter V6 petrol (269 hp) with a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission gears with manual shifting. It is used on diesel versions by a common rail injection system, a variable geometry turbocharger and an air intercooler. The gearbox has double (for I, III and IV gears) and even triple (for II gear) synchronizers.

The all-wheel drive of the new generation ALL-MODE 4x4 will allow you to move on the rear-wheel drive, connecting the front-wheel drive if necessary, automatically redistributing the torque between the axles. Movement on all-wheel drive can be carried out in three modes: Auto, 4H1 and 4LO. In the first case, the system distributes torque to each axle depending on the condition of the road surface. This mode is recommended for wet, slippery and snowy roads. In light off-road conditions (broken roads, sand, snow, etc.), it is recommended to switch to 4H1 mode. Third Nissan incarnation The Pathfinder is a mid-size, rear- or all-wheel drive, five-door SUV that boasts: brutal design, frame structure and honest all-wheel drive kind of Part-time ... This is the same car that feels “at ease” both in the city and in heavy off-road conditions ...

The third generation of Pathfinder made its world debut in January 2005 at the International North American Auto Show in Detroit - compared to its predecessor, it not only seriously changed externally and internally and became larger in size, but again became a full-fledged frame SUV.

In March 2010, at the Geneva Motor Show, the premiere of a restyled car took place - the exterior was corrected, minor adjustments were made to the interior and the technical “stuffing” was modernized.

Serial production of this five-door (on which the “frame era” of the model ended) continued until 2014, after which it was finally curtailed.

The third-generation Nissan Pathfinder looks the way a real SUV should - its pointedly angular body with short overhangs inspires respect with its outlines. A solid front end with uncomplicated headlights, a corrugated hood and a powerful shiny “grill” of the radiator grille, a brutal profile with pronounced “muscles” of the wheel arches, rear door handles hidden in the pillars and a sheer stern, a monumental rear with compact lights and a huge trunk lid - the car is attractive from the outside , solid and harmonious.

The five-door is 4813 mm long, 1848 mm wide, and 1781 mm high. Between the wheelsets, the “Japanese” fits a 2853 mm base, and under the bottom it has a 228 mm clearance.

In the "combat" state, the mass of the SUV varies from 2060 to 2210 kg, depending on the version.

The interior of the "third" Nissan Pathfinder is designed to match the exterior - it looks attractive, modern and solid. An arrow instrument cluster, a large three-spoke steering wheel with developed tides, a massive center console with a 7-inch infotainment screen and a scattering of buttons and controls that control the audio system, “climate” and other functions - inside in terms of design, the car is good in all respects.

The interior of the SUV is trimmed with good materials, and is devoid of any obvious assembly flaws.

The “apartments” by the car are seven-seater, but the “gallery” here is more like a “reserve”, and it is optimally suited only for children. The front seats of the "Japanese" have a comfortable profile with widely spaced side bolsters and large adjustment intervals, and the second row boasts an ergonomically molded sofa and a solid supply of free space.

With a seven-seat layout, the trunk volume of the third incarnation of the Pathfinder is “cars” 300 liters. The third row of seats is folded in two equal sections, increasing the capacity of the "hold" to 515 liters, and the second - in three parts in the ratio "40:20:40", bringing the cargo capacity to 2091 liters (this leaves an absolutely flat area). A full-size “reserve” for an SUV is suspended on the street, under the bottom.

For the "third" Nissan Pathfinder announced two diesel engines with turbocharging, Common Rail "power" system and charge air cooling:

  • By default, under the hood of the car contains a 2.5-liter in-line “four”, which produces 190 Horse power at 4000 rpm and 450 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm.
  • More powerful modifications "flaunt" a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with a V-shaped layout, the potential of which reaches 231 hp. at 3750 rpm and 550 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm.

The "younger" unit is combined with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 5-band automatic transmission, and the "senior" unit is only with a 7-speed "automatic".

As standard, the SUV is equipped with a hard-wired all-wheel drive All Mode 4WD with four modes of operation ( rear drive; automatic full; complete with locked differentials; full with activated "lower") and imitation of cross-axle differentials.

"Pathfinder" demonstrates good "asphalt" characteristics: from standstill to 100 km / h it breaks down in 8.9-11 seconds, gains a maximum of 186-200 km / h, and "drinks" 8.7-9.5 liters of fuel in the combined mode for "hundred" .

The car is able to overcome fords up to 450 mm deep (without special training), and its entry and exit angles are 33 and 26 degrees, respectively.

At the heart of the third generation Nissan Pathfinder is a ladder frame on which the body and engine are fixed (in the longitudinal direction). "In a circle" the SUV is equipped with independent suspensions on double wishbones with passive shock absorbers, steel springs and transverse stabilizers.
All five-door wheels are equipped with disc brakes (front - ventilated) with ABS and EBD, and its rack and pinion steering system is supplemented with a power steering.

In the Russian (secondary) market, the "third" Nissan Pathfinder in 2017 is offered at a price of ~ 700 thousand rubles.
The initial performance of the car includes: six airbags, hill start assist technology, ABS, EBD, dual-zone "climate", ESP, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, four power windows, audio system, power and heated mirrors, as well as other modern equipment.
