AR: Vesta's suspension from the very beginning was distinguished by its noisy character. But neither the knock of the rear pillars, nor the creak of the stabilizer bushings, we have not fixed.

Turkish glass is really soft: the door windows are scratched from constant lowering, and the windshield has traces of abrasive wear, although Vesta did not drive at all in the stream.

Classic. Airat recently bought new xray with engine 1.6 (106 hp). Immediately at the dealership, the manager offered to do chip tuning. Airat agreed to the question "Whose firmware?" the manager walked away for a couple of minutes and then returned with a piece of paper on which "ADACT" was written by hand (by the way, the client was denied a test drive right away).

Has Xray changed for the better after the chip tuning? No. The car also twitched when you press and release the gas, at the moment of starting and shifting gears. There was no noticeable difference in acceleration with the air conditioner on. Because the calibration quality of this particular engine from all well-known developers leaves much to be desired (we are talking only about 1.6 106 hp). Almost all calibrations are performed by eye, without long-term testing (corrections, improvements) on cars.

For this engine 2 years ago we released our own tuning, which was tested and upgraded for 4 months. We got really high-quality calibrations for the 1.6 engine, for which we are not ashamed.

First of all, Ildar made a diagnosis of the motor. Then he considered the installed "tuning" and opened it in the editor. If this ECU is written via the OBDII connector, then it can only be read when connected directly to the ECU. It turned out that tuning was installed not from ADACT, but from Paulus. And for some reason, the Euro 2 variant was installed, although there were no complaints about the operation of the catalyst and the second DC (the car is completely new).

After installing signature tuning from Athletic Motors, Airat and I made a test drive.

The result is no jolts at start and gear changes, acceleration became noticeably faster from low revs even with the air conditioner on. The dealer warranty is fully preserved, as the control keys of the factory firmware are copied.

On the same day, Airat sent a review about the chip tuning:

The owner of the car set us the following tasks - to eliminate jerks and pauses when pressing or releasing the gas pedal, to add traction from low revs, to eliminate the loss of traction when the air conditioner is on, to keep the dealer warranty. All the shortcomings of serial firmware are associated with artificial limitations in engine power due to strict environmental standards, and high-quality chip tuning allows them to be eliminated without reducing engine life.

Since Xray is built on the B0 (Sandero) platform, it has a diagnostic connector in the glove compartment. We connect our professional equipment to it and proceed to the diagnosis of all engine systems. In this case, the motor and its sensors in in perfect order power can and should be increased.

The engine control unitM86 (ITELMA) is under the hood and the process of reading or writing a program occurs with a direct connection of our equipment to the ECU connector.

In order not to scratch the car body, we put on a protective cape and proceed to identify the installed factory firmware. Next, we find the same firmware in our database, but already in the tuning version, and proceed to write a new program to the ECU.

For best result as a tuning firmware, a proprietary calibration from Athletic Motors is installed, built on the basis of tuning from the developer Paulus with full preservation of the dealer warranty due to copying the control keys of the factory program. The main differences between the Athletic Motors firmware and the basic tuning option are that it pulls even better from low revs, the gas pedal works faster and smoother, there is no detonation in any engine operating modes.

During the first test run, Khrey's owner immediately liked the result! According to him, the car accelerates faster already at 1500-2000 rpm, the motor immediately reacts to pressing the gas pedal, jerks disappeared when releasing gas and shifting gears. In the summer, turning on the air conditioner will not cause dips in speed and loss of traction, with a calm driving style, fuel consumption will decrease by 5-10%. The increase in power and torque was + 10%! Now the motor develops 115-120 hp. (depending on the quality of the fuel) and about 160 Nm of torque.

Similar work is being done with the 1.8 122 hp engine. On cars with AMT, we managed to make the robot work faster and smoother, without noticeable jerks when accelerating or braking.

Worked on tuning firmware for Lada Xray with 1.8 engine (21179) and manual transmission. The owner of the car wanted to eliminate jerks and pauses when pressing and releasing the gas pedal, to speed up the acceleration of the car.

As for the 1.6 (106) engine, Ildar managed to upgrade the basic calibrations of the tuning firmware from the developer Paulus in a special professional software. The program is recorded through the connector of the ECU itself, parsing the unit is not required.

The main changes and improvements in tuning from Athletic Motors:

1) Torque on low revs became even more
2) The motor responds smoothly and quickly to pressing or resetting the gas pedal (there will also be no power loss when the air conditioner is on)
3) UOZ (ignition timing) adapted to the local AI-95 (there will be no detonation even in the heat with the air conditioner on)

Otherwise, the changes regarding the factory firmware are implemented by Paulus, as always, at a high, decent level. The dealer warranty is fully preserved by copying the control keys of the factory firmware.

XRAY became the first car of the brand, for which the latest 1.8-liter 16-valve VAZ-21179 is available. It has solid power (122 hp) and torque (170 Nm) to its credit. So, I expected a lot from the dynamics of the top version.

But, as the classic said, young men have hopes. That's what mine didn't work out. The potential of the motor is ruined by the obstinate automatic transmission (AMT): hitches, pecks when switching ... Against the background of smooth and predictable hydromechanical automatic transmissions, the AMT transmission seems to be a fiend. Even I, a calm driver, now and then went berserk from these delays and jerks. And I also didn’t like that the car does not go after standing and releasing the brake pedal. XRAY will roll only in response to pressing the accelerator. In traffic jams wildly uncomfortable!

Upset and smoothness. Lada regularly collects all small things on the road and bounces on bumps with a larger caliber. But there are no complaints about the energy intensity of the suspension - it does not come to breakdowns. But where the beating is felt, it's on the steering wheel. You will drive for five minutes on broken asphalt, you will be completely exhausted. And it would be nice if the reward for this shaking was verified handling - it’s not. But outside the asphalt, XRAY moves quite confidently - good geometric cross helps (minimum ground clearance- 195 mm!) And good engine thrust at low speeds. By the way, the slope retention system also came in handy. A test car from the first batch - this means that you cannot turn off the ESP - this function was not enough in the mud. However, since this autumn, Togliatti has made a number of improvements to the Ixrey design, including the installation of an ESP deactivation button. Such a prompt response to the wishes of buyers can only be welcomed.
