Most recently, we first saw the Ravon Nexia R3 on. And now one of the cars that were on the stand is on our test! The model replaced the very popular, but hopelessly outdated Nexia of the previous generation. It’s a pity that Ravon, although an exhibition sample, immediately loses in color to the elegant blue Renault Logan, and it gets more dirty on the road.

The ancient Opel Cadet platform from the 80s is finally put to rest - at the heart of the new generation Nexia R3 body from Chevrolet Aveo T250, sold in the mid to late 2000s. Daewoo and Chevrolet badges on Uzbek-made cars are also a thing of the past - now GM Uzbekistan models are sold in Russia under the Ravon brand. The rival of Ravon, the second generation, needs no introduction - the demand for the super popular budget sedan speaks for itself, so it will perfectly suit us as a guide. Logan is built on the B0 platform of about the same age as the Nexia R3. In 2014, after modernization, the production of Logan was launched at AvtoVAZ.

Car interiors contrast strongly in style. In Ravona, it is deliberately Asian: instrument arrows and old-fashioned electronic clocks were inherited from Aveo, and the two-tone color scheme is the result of the work of Uzbek designers. You perceive carbon inserts with irony, but in general, the quality of plastic for a budget model is good. Unfortunately, in our climate, a bright interior gets dirty instantly. However, a more practical interior design in dark colors is also available for the model, albeit discreet.

The interior of the Nexia R3 seems to take us from a dank Moscow autumn to sunny Uzbekistan. It warms up, by the way, quite quickly, but the Russians will miss the heated seats - so far it is not even in the "maximum speed".

Logan inside looks simple and concise - traces of savings on every detail, as on the first generation of the model, are no longer evident, but there is nothing to admire either. The atmosphere of despondency is somewhat brightened up by the presence of a few buttons - in this rather rich configuration there are rear power windows and cruise control.

Simple and logical at first glance, Logan's interior sometimes throws tricks - the knob on the radio is actually responsible not for the volume, but for the frequency, the power window control buttons are scattered around the cabin: the front ones are in the doors, the rear ones are on the center console.

A blind test will help evaluate ergonomics from the driver's point of view - we blindfold one of us and sit down, alternating, in cars. Let's check how convenient it is to tune in and drive a short distance "by touch". They rode, of course, on a huge wide platform. The sensations of drivers are conveyed very well by the video (see at the beginning and at the end of the article). Both strongly deviated from the gate at the finish line, but according to them, they did not feel any inconvenience in manipulating the controls.

While Ravon and Logan go head to head through the cabin, everything will be decided by the back row. There is enough space for two in both cars, but three will have to make room. Logan is still more spacious in the legs, and, again, more practical in terms of materials. A few millimeters here he breaks ahead and his driver eats one tasty nut.

The interior of such a light, loose and thin fabric looks beautiful, with the caveat that the car is new or just from dry cleaning, and you look at it from the side.

Logan's back row is the realm of practicality. Sitting comfortably, the materials are simple and not easily soiled.

Ground clearance

Ground clearance is traditionally checked with a tire height of 200 mm. Renault Logan started confidently, but there was not enough height under the rear beam - the tire remained under the bottom. Nexia R3 did not have enough at all for a couple of centimeters under the bumper skirt - no chance to overcome the "barrier". Formally, the difference in ground clearance is minimal, but let's not forget that Logan has engine protection in the basic version, while Ravone does not offer factory protection at all. Our test car can be forgiven - it can be said to be an exhibition car, but if you put protection at the dealer, the clearance will most likely become lower. Therefore, in this nomination, the victory for Renault Logan, its driver, is reinforced by one more nut. Maybe this will help him in the next two dynamic exercises.

On Ravon without protection engine compartment it's scary to climb into the wilds, but at least the high curbs do not threaten the bumper.

We tried to pick up cars as close as possible in price, so our Renault Logan turned out to be in the least dynamic version - with an 8-valve Romanian K7M engine with 1.6 liters and 82 hp. and a 5-speed Spanish-made Easy-R robot. In normal mode, it makes more noise than it accelerates, to say nothing of some kind of competition. Although the gearbox should be given credit - it shifts faster and, unlike it, does not burn the clutch in vain.

Three engine options are installed on the second generation of Logan - for 82, 102 or 113 hp, all 1.6-liter. Available transmissions are 5-speed manual, 4-speed classic automatic and 5-speed robot.

Against this background, the Nexia R3 looks like a favorite: there is a completely modern 1.5-liter 16-valve engine with 105 hp. with variable intake phases and a timing chain drive, paired with a 6-speed automatic. The combination is already familiar from the Chevrolet Cobalt, which was sold for some time on Russian marketserious problems with these units was not. According to subjective feelings light car accelerates quite briskly — there is enough dynamics in the stream.

The only engine available for the Nexia R3 is the 1.5-liter S-TEC III with 105 hp. Gearboxes to choose from - 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.

The start from the spot was without surprises - Ravon confidently went ahead. If Renault Logan had a 102-horsepower 16-valve engine and a 4-speed automatic, it could have had a chance, but this version is 50,000 rubles more expensive than ours, and the cost difference with Ravon would have gone beyond reasonable limits. So the nut for acceleration is rightly awarded to a car from Uzbekistan.

The motor on the Nexia R3 is more powerful and more modern than on the Logan, and the machine is quicker. With a conventional machine gun and a 16-valve Renault would cost 100 thousand more than Ravon, in the same trim levels as ours.

For Logan, a stabilization system is available as an option. On this instance, only ABS will help the driver.

Renault Logan in our version does not have a stabilization system, so it allows you to use the handbrake, while Ravon stops attempts to misbehave even with the electronics turned off. If we talk about more important things in normal operation, then Logan has a heavy steering wheel at low speeds and it is inconvenient to switch the gearbox back and forth. Both cars claim to be universal, so the volume of the trunk is of great importance for the buyer. Having practiced with cubes according to the methodology of the magazine "Behind the Wheel", we get a result of 432 liters for Renault Logan and 372 liters for Ravon. In both cars, the usable volume is somewhat eaten up by loops. Nexia also has other drawbacks: the trunk lid closes with effort, and the lock cylinder is closed by a frame for the number. Let's hope both problems are fixed.

Renault Logan equalizes the score after the trunk - 3:3.

In order for the test to be effective, we will add one more test - let's see how the suspension works on bad roads. We won’t climb on serious off-road: we have enough broken asphalt and a rolled primer - many “state employees” have to work just in such conditions. At first glance, both cars swallow well both small things and large pits. But Ravon has a hard ass on serious irregularities, and the energy intensity is slightly less compared to Logan. The winning golden nut is eaten by the Renault Logan.

I do not agree with the location of the horn button at the end of the steering column switch, the power window buttons on the center console, the mirror adjustment joystick on the floor tunnel. In winter, the engine warms up quickly and heats the interior in one fell swoop.

In fourth and fifth gears, the new Logan is slightly more elastic, but only for a fraction of a second. On the third, when accelerating from 60 to 100 km / h, there is no gain at all. And when starting from zero to a hundred, the new Logan gets as much as a second and a half slower than the old one: 13.5 s instead of 12.0 s. Well, up to 150 km / h, acceleration is completely extended by as much as 5.4 seconds.

Let's look at the advantages and disadvantages of the two rivals. Let's try to identify the strengths and weak sides opposing vehicles. Although we will immediately say that this is just a statement of well-known facts.

Deciding which of the cars is the most reliable, which one to buy, is the exclusive right of potential buyers.

Exterior

If we look at both cars in profile, they have a lot in common .. Gentra has only the front in the original form. The front bumper with grille looks good. There is nothing to note about the innovations in the "clothes" of "Logan". All the same "macintosh" reystaling 2009. The car can only boast of collectible disks "winter-summer 2013".

Interior

Comparing the interior of the cars, we note the very modest upholstery (materials) of the Daewoo. But a better build quality than the competitor. For equipment, the first place is given to Daewoo. In this component, Logan is clearly lagging behind.

What is positive about Logan? Primarily: spacious salon and ground clearance. It is these two indicators that allow you to get ahead of your competitor. Maybe not by much, but still!

Fans " Daewoo "They may object: after all, those who wish to purchase a car with automatic transmission can be in the basic configuration. That's a plus, they say. Indeed, the French are lagging behind here. After all, they have cars with automatic transmission in complete models. Summarizing, we can say that the prospects for Daewoo Gentra are very good.

Where, by the way, the Lacetti has been produced for more than ten years, but until recently it was not officially delivered to Russia. But now, at a price, it is a direct competitor to Renault Logan. Let's compare "oldies"?

Both cars are almost native in profile. But the Gentra's front end was changed: the headlights are similar to those put on the Lacetti hatchback. Climate controls in cars are traditional; even a child can figure out the buttons and knobs. But in Gentra, this part of the center console looks more interesting. But "Logan" takes an excellent review: a large rear glass and large mirrors allow you to easily control everything that happens behind the stern.

LOOK BACK

The doors opened wide, inviting them to sit on the sofa. Interestingly, the distance from the pillow to the ceiling is the same for competitors, but at the same time, Logan and Gentra are opposites. The Renault has a lot of space in the head and shoulder area, while the Daewoo is a bit cramped, and the sloping roof line visually compresses the interior.

But in the "Gentra" there is more space in the knees and the seat is not like that of the opponent - ergonomic, with a good armrest. And yes, the back is foldable. This allows you to transport long lengths, which Logan, with its tightly screwed rear sofa, never dreamed of. True, the Renault trunk is still larger, and the opening is wider.

Under the floor of the cargo compartment of both, full-size spares are not superfluous in our conditions. However, only the French saved on the inner upholstery of the lid ... sorry, the Russians, which automatically does honor to the Koreans ... that is, the Uzbeks.

MOVEMENT - LIFE

Almost all the bananas have already been cut from the palm tree, so furiously these two are fighting for victory. It looks like it will go to the one whose driving performance better.

I start the Gentra engine that meets Euro-5 standards (J200-B15D was assembled in Uzbekistan and is somewhat different from the Chevrolet-Cobalt unit) and pour into the city crowd. From the bottom, the engine picks up confidently, and the clutch pedal is located so that the knee does not start to whine after an hour of twitching in metropolitan traffic. But on the highway after 4000 rpm, the engine turns sour.

Sixteen-valve "Logan" is even more fun on the bottoms and faster at medium speeds. When accelerating to 60 km / h, it outperforms the competitor by 1.3 s, and at 100 km / h it breaks away already by 2.1 s. It seems to be not so much, but in the city I liked Renault more. Gentra bounced back top speed(9.1 km/h more) and informative brakes. The effort on the pedals is a little clearer, and this "slightly" pulled sympathy. Reasons for the slight difference in stopping distance in favor of "Daewoo" lie, in our opinion, in the tires: on the "Gentra" is "ContiPremiumContact 2", on the "Logan" - "Amtel-Planet DC".

In terms of smoothness, the models are similar. They shake about the same on potholes. Well, Renault, maybe a little less. And this is an indisputable compliment to the Gentra, because the Logan has deservedly become the standard in terms of smoothing out road defects. Controllability? Both machines do not know what excitement is. Reliable and predictable, but nothing more. So it should be with people's sedans.

And in terms of acoustic comfort, the Daewoo takes the lead: during acceleration and cruising 80 km / h it is noticeably quieter. In response, the unbending "Logan" takes out a joker - standard engine protection and 155 mm of ground clearance. "Gentre" with its bare belly and 140 mm distance to the ground has nothing to cover here.

The main advantages of Logan are high ground clearance and a spacious interior. They allowed Renault to get ahead of the opponent a little. But "Gentru" even in the database can be ordered with an "automatic", while the "automatic" "Logan" is only in the complete set. So, the prospects for a newcomer are very good!

"Daewoo Gentra" (mileage 3400 km)

Initially, I sought to find a more or less universal car: inexpensive, comfortable, suitable for both family needs and commuting. Bought "Gentra" with mechanical box gears in the "Optimum Plus" configuration, these expectations, in general, met. Although there are little things that could be eliminated. For example, there is nowhere to attach a gas tank cap, which has neither a holder nor a hanger.

Residents of big cities will certainly prefer the version with automatic transmission, I'm used to the "mechanics". In general, I will characterize the movement on the Gentra as measured: the engine is clearly designed for a calm driving style. But after running in, even in the city and in traffic jams, the sedan consumes 8.5–8.7 liters of gasoline per 100 km. The car is still new, and I have not encountered the service. I hope that I will not be disappointed in this matter.
