All-wheel drive models of Skoda Octavia: Scout and Combi. The second incarnation of the Skoda Octavia Scout Skoda octavia station wagon 4x4 specifications

Skoda Octavia is a car that has become famous for its reliability, unpretentiousness and high comfort of movement. During the history of the model, which has 20 years, three generations of cars have come out, each of which is better and more technologically advanced than the previous one. Today we will talk about the most rare and exotic Skoda Octavia 4×4 "combi" and all its features.

General concept

Station wagon Skoda Octavia A7 is a real old-timer model range stamps. The first versions of the model with all-wheel drive appeared in 1999, a year before the first restyling. The trunk volume of the station wagon with the rear seats folded reaches 1,500 liters, and the A7 combi interior is more comfortable for family trips.

For this car a line of naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines is provided, which includes several diesel engines. A 1.6 diesel is provided for older versions, while a 2 liter turbocharged diesel puts out 140 Horse power and a maximum torque of 320 Newton meters, which gives the Skoda Octavia station wagon enviable traction.

The Skoda Octavia station wagon first appeared with all-wheel drive in 2000 and has the designation Octavia Combi 4 × 4. Later, several diesel versions appeared. Unlike the front-wheel drive version, the Skoda Octavia 4 × 4 combi version has several key features that distinguish the station wagon both externally and internally. off-road.

First of all, the exterior of the car has a different look. Here you can note the tuning package, which aims to protect the off-road vehicle from bumps and damage when passing off-road.

Thresholds are protected in the form of overlays made of reinforced plastic. With such protection, it will be possible to avoid not only scratches, but also significant dents, which can often be found in modern crossovers.

Arches received similar protection. This type of tuning, according to the manufacturer, will allow the station wagon with all-wheel drive to avoid significant damage and corrosion.

Of course, the advent of all-wheel drive is accompanied by some suspension changes. She received reinforced elements, which for the regular version of the station wagon are supplied with the “Bad Road Package”. Thanks to the design details new system, the ground clearance was increased by 3 centimeters even on versions with a diesel engine.

Octavia Combi 4 × 4 is recognizable by some external designations. So, on the trunk lid of the "combi" you can see the characteristic Scout inscription. Once in the cabin, you will be able to find the inscription “4motion”, which indicates the presence of an intelligent all-wheel drive system on both gasoline versions and station wagons with a diesel engine.

Sports modifications

The most famous version of Skoda with all-wheel drive is a car built on the basis of the A7 and not having the ability to install a diesel engine. However, there are still several all-wheel drive versions that are built on the A7 platform. Their examples are the sports versions of the PC and Skoda Octavia Scout Revo 4x4.

The RS version is based on the liftback, which has been produced since 2013. RS has several unique features, which allow you to instantly distinguish it from the entire model range.

Moreover, changes relative to ordinary A can be found both in terms of design and technical part.

Concerning appearance, then the color scheme of the model is somewhat different. The PC version can be found both in a bright blue version and in a snow-white shade. On the radiator grill, which has a slightly different shape, there is a corresponding inscription. In addition, it can sometimes be found on the side of the body and doors in the form of stickers and markings. The rear of the Octavia RS 4x4 is equipped with a chrome trim that also defines the sporty version.

The interior of the Octavia RS 4×4 also has several key features. So, wheel has a sporty design, and the front seats have more rigid lateral support. The PC suspension is reinforced for longer life and greater reliability.

Diesel is not available for the PC version. Instead, a two-liter gasoline unit with a capacity of 220 horsepower was developed for the Skoda Octavia. Such a motor is not available for any other modification of the A7. The PC engine has increased fuel consumption, which has a predominantly 98 octane rating. Instead, the buyer receives a car with improved dynamic characteristics and acceleration figures.

The gearbox offered for the Octavia RS 4×4 also has a special design. This version is the only one for modification of the PC. The unit has a robotic type and has a two-clutch system. This solution contributes to a more reliable integration of the engine with the gearbox, while carrying out faster gear changes.

Another version that has a sporty twist is the Skoda Octavia Scout Revo 4x4. This version is extremely rare, and for the most part it is used in international sports competitions.

Skoda Octavia Scout Revo 4x4 looks like the Skoda Octavia station wagon, built on the A7 platform. Technical filling, which is installed on this car, is similar to the one found on the PC version, and diesel is also not available here. The fifth generation all-wheel drive system operates in automatic mode and is installed on the Skoda Octavia Scout Revo 4x4 in serial order.

Principle of operation

At the moment, all sports modifications of the Skoda Octavia are equipped with a fifth-generation all-wheel drive system, conditionally named by the manufacturer 4motion. It is based on the Haldex clutch, which takes over the function of distributing torque between the front and rear axles.

The intelligence of the clutch operates in such a way as to constantly provide a small percentage of torque to the rear axle, which gives the manufacturer the right to call such a system a constant principle of operation.

During sharp acceleration, the torque is distributed equally between the axles, thereby eliminating slipping on wet pavement and loss of power. Moreover, the clutch is fully integrated with systems exchange rate stability and instantly reacts to the slightest changes in speed.

The fifth generation of the clutch does not have significant design differences from its predecessor. All the efforts of the designers in its design were put into lightening the mass of parts and minimizing the amount of hydraulics.

The principle of operation of the system is based on the fact that at a certain moment the pump begins to supply high-pressure oil to the channels. Due to this, the driving and driven parts of the mechanism fit snugly against each other, and the rear axle is connected in a certain proportion. In connection with this, there main disadvantage such a system. High pressure pump at untimely replacement oil burns out, and high-pressure channels can leak and lose their tightness.

Summing up

Skoda Octavia in versions with all-wheel drive - technological and powerful cars. However, the 4motion system is imperfect and not without flaws. However, practice shows that systems latest generations do not have the same shortcomings as their predecessors, and work better and more stable with each version.

The path of the third-generation Czech all-terrain station wagon to Russia turned out to be quite a long one ... First there was the spring world premiere of 2014 in Geneva, later the all-terrain wagon looked at the Moscow International Motor Show, and only in October, finally, official sales started in our country.

Price Octavia Scout 2015 model year in Russia it turned out to be slightly higher than expected, but not so much as to scare away potential buyers, since the advantages of this car were quite consistent with the money requested for them.

By the third decade of December 2016, a restyled “off-road vehicle” arrived in time, which completed the renewal program for the entire Octavia family, which stretched over three stages.

The car has undergone almost the same metamorphosis as the standard model - it has changed "in the face" due to the "four-eyed" optics, received new versions (albeit "not for Russia") and was "equipped" with previously inaccessible equipment.

The second incarnation of the "Czech Scout" is larger than its predecessor and much more aggressive in terms of design. The exterior is based on the contours of the base station wagon of the third generation, but a stylish off-road plastic body kit with reinforced bumpers, a special design rims, increased ground clearance and "Scout" nameplates make it easy to distinguish the all-wheel drive station wagon from the city version.

The body of the novelty consists of almost 70% high-strength steel and a certain proportion of ultra-high-strength steel, which made it possible to reduce the weight of the car relative to its predecessor by an average of 27-30 kg. A notable step forward was also noted in terms of aerodynamics, and this is a direct contribution to reducing fuel consumption and improving acoustic comfort in the cabin.

As for the dimensions, the length of the "second" Octavia Scout is 4685 mm, wheelbase equal to 2679 mm, the width of the body does not exceed 1814 mm, and the height rests on the mark of 1531 mm. The ground clearance (ground clearance) of the "all-terrain" station wagon is 171 mm.

The interior of this modification is almost identical, in terms of design, to the interior of the regular version of the Octavia 3rd generation, but more expensive materials are used in its decoration in several combinations. In addition, multiple "Scout" inscriptions are distributed throughout the interior, harmoniously fitting into it and reminiscent of the "off-road" nature of the car, and the pedals are equipped with stylish metal linings with rubber anti-slip inserts.

The interior of the car is very ergonomic, spacious, and on both rows of seats, and is complemented by a spacious trunk with a transformable double floor, a set of fasteners, a double-sided mat and a comfortable loading height.

The minimum boot volume is 588 liters (610 liters without a spare wheel), but with the second row of seats folded down, it increases to 1718 liters (1740 liters without a spare wheel). We also note that with the front passenger seat folded down, it becomes possible to transport long lengths of almost 3 meters.

Specifications. Russian owners of a cross-country station wagon will have to be content with only one option power plant. For this role, the Czech manufacturer chose a 4-cylinder in-line gasoline unit with a working volume of 1.8 liters (1798 cm³). The motor fully complies with the Euro-6 environmental standard, and the list of its equipment includes a 16-valve timing, direct fuel injection, a variable valve timing system, a Start / Stop system and a turbocharger, which together allows you to develop 180 "horses" of maximum power at 5100 - 6000 rpm. As for the torque, at the peak, reached at 1350 - 4500 rpm, it rests on the mark of 280 Nm, making it possible to accelerate the station wagon from 0 to 100 km / h in an acceptable 7.8 seconds, and this is without activating the “Sport” mode. ". Well, the upper speed threshold is marked with a mark of 216 km / h.

The Czechs also did not provide a choice of gearboxes - the only engine is paired with the only 6-speed DSG “robot” with two clutches, which makes it possible to achieve a very reasonable AI-95 fuel consumption of 6.9 liters in a combined cycle of operation. Of the disadvantages of the gearbox, we note the “classic” desire to quickly shift to a higher gear, which often leads to a delay in switching when the accelerator is actively used, so for aggressive driving it is better to use the “Sport” mode, in which these “flaws” are not so noticeable.

The "second station wagon Octavia Scout" was built on the basis of a slightly modernized VW MQB platform. The front of the body rests on a standard independent suspension with MacPherson struts, and the rear is supported by an independent multi-link design. Unlike the European version, the Russian version is equipped with more energy-intensive shock absorbers and a special “for bad roads” package, which includes, among other things, engine crankcase protection.
The wheels of the front axle of the car have ventilated disk brake mechanisms, rear wheels retracted simple disc brakes. The rack and pinion steering mechanism demonstrates an electromechanical amplifier as an assistant. We also note that already in the base of the five-door it is equipped with ABS + EBD, BAS, ESP systems and uphill assistance technology.

As stated at the outset, the Octavia Scout is a station wagon with a 5th generation Haldex clutch-based all-wheel drive system, complete with electronic differential lock (EDL) simulation. The system is able to transfer up to 90% of traction to the rear axle, as well as redistribute the moment between the wheels rear axle(up to 85% per wheel), which guarantees good cross-country ability on light off-road and excellent stability on wet or icy asphalt roads. In this regard, the Scout modification is as close as possible to crossovers, which will surely “spoil your nerves” in our market.

Options and prices. In Russia, the “refreshed” 2017 Skoda Octavia Scout is sold in one configuration, which is estimated at 1,962,000 rubles. The standard functionality of the station wagon is: six airbags, heated front seats, an electric trunk lid, 17-inch rollers, climate with two coverage zones, ERA-GLONASS system, ABS, ESC, EBD, music with 8 speakers, rear parking sensors and other modern options.
For a surcharge, the car can be equipped with LED headlights, panoramic roof, a more advanced infotainment center, monitoring of "blind" zones, a traffic assistant in the lane and other modern "chips".

All-wheel drive Skoda Octavia Combi 4x4 is also available for order in Russia. The car has new body A7, advanced transmission and engine.

In addition to the large trunk, the Skoda Octavia Combi station wagon also received four-wheel drive, perfect car for vacation trips. It’s worth pointing out right away that in Europe, the all-wheel drive version of the Skoda Octavia Combi 4x4 has diesel engine, in Russia, the car is offered with a 1.8-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 180 hp. Available as a gearbox robotic machine DSG with 6 steps.

Externally, the front-wheel drive version of the station wagon and the 4x4 modification are not much different. If only with a 4x4 badge on the trunk lid of the Octavia Combi 4x4, as in this photo.

The all-wheel drive transmission itself is borrowed from the Skoda Yeti crossover. About which we wrote a large article. The main transmission unit is the advanced Haldex 5 clutch. The operation of this all-wheel drive transmission is distinguished by some features. In normal road conditions, more than 90% of the torque is transmitted to the front wheels. But it is worth leaving on a slippery road or outright dirt, then thanks to the Haldex coupling, the same 90% of the torque can be transferred almost instantly to rear wheels Skoda Octavia Combi 4x4 and back.

Characteristics of the new Skoda Octavia Combi 4x4

As for the size and dimensions. That Skoda Octavia Combi 4x4 is not much different from the usual Skoda station wagon. But there are also some features. So the ground clearance is slightly less, due to the fact that the mass of the car is increased. For example, the Octavia Combi station wagon with a 1.8 TSI turbo engine weighs 1352 kg in running order, and with the same engine, but in the all-wheel drive version, 100 kilograms more. Accordingly, fuel consumption is greater, and the dynamics are slightly worse. Fuel consumption Combi 4x4 in mixed mode is 6.7 liters of gasoline, and in the front-wheel drive version 6 liters. By the way, the volume of the gas tank in the all-wheel drive version of the station wagon 4x4 is 55 liters, while the regular Octavia Combi has exactly 50 liters. Rear suspension in the 4x4 version, it was completely redesigned, since it was necessary to place additional transmission units and assemblies there.

Options and prices Skoda Octavia Combi 4x4

In Russia, the all-wheel drive Combi is offered only with a 1.8 TSI engine with 180 hp. Plus a 6-speed DSG. The price of the most affordable version of the Skoda Octavia Combi 4x4 starts at 1,061,000 rubles in average configuration Ambition. AT top version Elegance car costs already 1,134,000 rubles. Actually, the car does not have many competitors in this class, classmates do not offer anything like that. Neither the Ford Focus, nor the Chevrolet Cruze with the Opel Astra have all-wheel drive station wagons on Russian market. In fact, in the absence of competition Skoda price Octavia Combi 4x4 over a million rubles. Only Subaru all-wheel drive wagons, which also have a rather high price, can compete with a car from the Czech Republic.

It is unlikely that the demand for an all-wheel drive station wagon in our country will be large, due to the fact that for the same money you can take a crossover, the same Yeti for example. Therefore, the manufacturer did not offer a large number of variations with several engines.

A small video review of the all-wheel drive Skoda Octavia Combi 4x4.

It is also worth mentioning the off-road version of the Octavia Combi 4x4, which is called the Skoda Octavia Scout. This modification, apart from front wheel drive and increased ground clearance has a lot of external differences. Such as door sills and wheel arches, more protected bumpers. As Skoda representatives promise in Russian Skoda Octavia Scout will appear soon.

For the test new Skoda Octavia 2017 liftback left with all-wheel drive and a 1.8-liter engine.

Please vote by looking at the test of the new Skoda Octavia 2017, move the MPS Index cursor along the scale that we offer at the beginning and at the end of the article.
The new Skoda Octavia 2017 has just entered the market. We have already talked about it in the first presentation - then the novelty was with a monodrive ().

Now we have a 2017 Skoda Octavia liftback with all-wheel drive and a 1.8-liter engine on the test. Let's find a use for it, starting with our commercials simulating zero connection with the road. But first, we take our hats off to the creators of a wonderful body that can carry countless items of various sizes, not to mention mother-in-law seedlings.

Skoda Octavia for several years was the most popular model in class on the Russian market. But most of the cars sold are copies in simple trim levels with a 1.6 atmospheric engine, mechanics or automatic.

This time we had a "unique" version in our hands. This, in the opinion of the Skodovites themselves, will account for only 2-3% of sales. Although you can't really tell from the outside...

The same Octavia that actively travels on the roads of millionaires, albeit in a rich configuration. Completely normal and unremarkable. They say about such people - a wolf in sheep's clothing, and for good reason. Under the hood of the test specimen, a 1.8-liter turbo engine from the TSI family with a return of 180 forces and 280 N∙m at 1250 - 5000 rpm, docked with a six-speed, wet DSG box, and all because it is an all-wheel drive modification.

Before restyling, there were no Octavia all-wheel drive liftbacks in Russia. For all-wheel drive, the Scout all-terrain wagon was blown away, and now there are, and such cars are brought directly from the Czech Republic.

The Czech assembly made it possible to order options for this car from the category of assistants close to the autopilot. For example, active cruise control. Nothing like this is available for Octavius Russian assembly that are produced at the facilities of GAZ in Nizhny Novgorod.

The generous equipment package seriously increased the already considerable price of the all-wheel drive version.

A liftback with a 4x4 nameplate is valued at least 1,561,000 rubles. Richer equipment is 1,668,000 rubles, but there are more options. As a result, the all-wheel drive new Skoda Octavia 2017 equipped with all possible assortment can wander around two million rubles for money. For the price of a well-equipped crossover!

Thus, it turns out that Octavia 4 × 4 is for those who decide to go against the trend and do not accept SUVs that are gaining popularity, primarily in terms of form factor.

Because with a clearance of 156 mm compact overhangs and all-wheel drive, this car can compete on equal terms with crossovers.

Skoda-Octavia-4x4: To test the strength of the four wheels, our team used traditional roller skates to simulate wheel spin on slippery surfaces.

Attempt number one is to move off, with the front wheels on the rollers. The all-wheel drive Octavia does it effortlessly. The second approach is more difficult. Now two front and one rear wheel are on rollers. Octavia tries, tries, pushes, but neither turning off the stabilization system nor DSG sport mode helps to move off an artificial obstacle. We are trying to rehabilitate the liftback, in the third approach we cast the rollers - now both rear wheels and one front wheel are on them. Such a problem turned out to be solvable for the all-wheel drive of a passenger liftback. As well as climbing with diagonal hanging. For passenger car- quite a compelling set of skills.

Skoda-Octavia-4×4: drive up the hill from this position? Easily!

Four-wheel drive helps not only off-road, but also on asphalt. Video presenter Igor Sirin in the rain broke away at a traffic light from the powerful, but monoprivodny Octavius RS. It is logical and appropriate to assume that in winter, all-wheel drive will be even more useful and will make it possible to realize the potential of the motor to a greater extent.

But the engine has potential. The alliance of the turbo engine and the preselective allows you to gain the first 100 km / h in 7.4 seconds. back side- consumption (in the city under 10l / 100 km). Moreover, we highly recommend using AI-98 grade fuel. AI-95 is considered no more seriously than an alternative in a stalemate, when the 98th is simply not available. One way or another, due to the all-wheel drive transmission, the car became almost a centner heavier (plus 93 kg).

Skoda-Octavia-4×4: Still, this is not an SUV. With air suspension and variable ride height, this would be an Audi.

However, given how much is placed in the Octavia's trunk, an extra centner is not critical. Once again we will sing an ode to the masters who tailored such a harmonious body. It is not big and not small, just the way a car should be.

The storage room of the liftback according to the passport is 568 liters, and this is without taking into account the possibility of folding the back of the rear seat. With it, the same figure rises to 1558 liters.

Moreover, the Octavia trunk is not just a basket, but an engineered space with hooks, drawers, light, and a 12-volt outlet. Impressive! But there is one but.

The trunk of the base liftback may be decorated more modestly, but its main trump cards will still be in base machine for 940 thousand rubles.

It turns out that buying an imported copy with all-wheel drive just for the sake of luggage compartment there is no point.

Both the base and the all-wheel drive versions will also have a plus or minus one interior.

Only finishing materials will remain as a variable, but they can be combined without all-wheel drive, on cheaper modifications.

Powerful motor? The 1.8 TSI engine also happens on single-wheel drives. The real reason for the purchase is the stronger DSG-6 and the somewhat increased versatility once the car can feel more confident on how many surfaces and light off-road. According to Skoda's calculations, only 2-3% of all buyers of the new Octavia in Russia will consider these arguments. And we are among them, only where to get 2 million rubles?

The update, or restyling, gave the Octavia a new bumper and headlights, electronic systems and, perhaps most importantly, all-wheel drive (previously offered only for station wagons). How useful it is and how it works - we'll figure it out in the course of ours.

I have been waiting and preparing for this moment. It had to happen sooner or later - and it did. I think I'm testing a car that... has no competition?! However, let's go in order.

The first point of the 7D program is the selection for the tested machine of rivals as close as possible in terms of price and technology, in order to put pluses and minuses during a virtual comparison - when the machine, respectively, shows itself better or worse than classmates. And now, right off the bat: can you name the cars that the all-wheel drive Czech liftback with 180 horsepower and with a price of 1.6 million will compete with ?! It seems there are none.

Don't be in a hurry. First, let's look at the price. The base for the all-wheel drive "Octavia" in the Style package is 1,668,000 rubles. After going through a long list of packages and options and ticking far from everywhere (but not being greedy), I reached the amount of 2.1 million and stopped to take a breath. LEDs-sensors-big wheels-electronic assistants... All this I need!

And with such a price, you can already look for rivals. Since Skoda is making an application in the class of powerful and all-wheel drive, let's look at the cars of those manufacturers that have been here for a long time. And even if these are cars that are commonly called "premium": the main thing is equipment and money, and the image will follow.

When we discussed this choice of opponents on the air, we met with the support of the listeners. This means that you will also meet eminent, fast and all-wheel drive competitors, one smaller, the other bigger. Both the one and the other in the back of a sedan, which is still closer to the Czech liftback than the curvy hatch. The table shows the base prices, and how they can be increased - for Skoda, and for BMW, and for Audi - I gave an example above. Let's see how the Czechs play this "hockey"!

There are more changes in the appearance of the Octavia, but the headlights and bumper are the most noticeable and, I would say, outstanding (the length of the car, by the way, has increased by 11 mm). As for the divided four headlights ... I heard the opinions of colleagues that "in the photo it really does not look very good, but in real life the car is better." So, it's not better.

I understand that after some time, as always happens with restyled cars, I will get used to it and consider the old face obsolete. So it was with the previous generation of Octavia. But for now - thank you, I can not praise the appearance. This is my subjective assessment, I will not argue with a different opinion.

But Skoda has a remarkable property, which is realized due to its close relationship with Volkswagen, Audi and other brands of the concern. The easiest way to describe it is this: you sit in the Octavia, and you feel like you are in the Golf or even A3. Materials, quality of fit, ergonomics - at the highest level.

The only thing I can reproach for is that on the new very large (9 inches) multimedia screen, a control technology without buttons is implemented. That is, they are drawn, but not pressed. I still consider this decision, generally accepted for smartphones, tablets and other household appliances, as applied to a car, to be doubtful. For me, they didn’t come up with anything better than the old “Volkswagen” classic buttons around the screen. The driver needs reliability and intelligible Feedback, which I always envied when trying to unlock the screen of my smartphone in the cold (the most effective way is with my nose, in my opinion. If you know a better way, please tell me).

Škoda wouldn't be Škoda without offering simple and ingenious (simply clever) solutions. The umbrella under the passenger seat is a small thing, we have seen this before. Better answer, how do you open a bottle of water while driving? Are you kneeling too? And in the new Octavia, the niche for the bottle is made in such a way that it keeps the container from rotating: unscrew the tight cork with one hand. Class!

The result of the first round, when we examined and looked around in the car, there will be neither plus nor minus. Somewhere in the details yielding, and somewhere winning, "Skoda" as a whole is quite consistent with the level of competitors, and this is a success.

When I started riding the second-generation Octavia ten years ago, I found myself taking the longer route home; moreover, I skip the last turn, so that later I can give it properly on a wide avenue to the next turn. I liked it so much that the car sticks to the road, how it obeys - I just didn’t want to stop. And every morning, leaving the entrance, I was glad that there was a trip in such a car. Not a test drive of a novelty, but an ordinary daily ride cheered me up! Then there were other machines that could do the same, but I remember the first one best of all.

The current third Octavia has retained this wonderful feature, and driving in suddenly disgusting weather from Gelendzhik to Dzhubga, I was glad even for trucks that gathered long tails of cars behind them: we’ll drive a couple of minutes longer. 180 horsepower and four-wheel drive made it possible to use any opportunity for overtaking, despite the storm wind and heavy rain. Right along the stream of water, under which the asphalt disappeared, we boldly take acceleration and confidently get ahead of the slow-moving ones!

I note the precise and very intelligent work of the adaptive cruise control and the very sensitive "line assist" - the steering wheel seemed to cling even to the half-erased markings and confidently corrected the trajectory of the car. Recently it was exotic, then the lot of the premium class, and now it is taken for granted in the most massive segment!

Skoda has an excellent navigation system, which has a lot of advantages and one, but often a decisive drawback. Moreover, the disadvantage does not apply to the Czech brand, but to any car with a standard navigation system: old maps. For example, a new interchange at the intersection of the M-4 and A-147 highways (turning to Dzhubga and Sochi) has been working for a year now, and you won’t learn it all, unfortunate navigators!

The result of the second round is also zero, and this is actually an indicator of the efforts of the Czechs, who are on an equal footing with very serious opponents.

If I say that in urban conditions I discovered the clear advantages of the powerful all-wheel drive Octavia, I will sin against the truth. Just nice car, with all the necessary auxiliary electronics, decent dynamics and quite sufficient maneuverability.

The main thing is that I finally managed to find a clearly and to the point working parking assistant! A year ago, on the Scout, I was glad how simple and clear it works, but here I managed to simulate a really difficult and tight race, which the car coped with on its own and quickly. I give up: useful parking assistants exist. An example is the Skoda Octavia.

This is not a property of the cars of this segment, these are the preferences of the audience. "Disco" fully answers them. And this means that even though he personally doesn’t seem like a good choice to me in the city, there are no minuses: the car is on the level!

Although repairs on the M-4 Don sometimes made us jump along the side of the road, and then for the sake of a beautiful shot we turned onto a rocky country road that steeply went into the mountains, let's make a reservation right away: the cars participating and mentioned in this test are made all-wheel drive for the sake of handling. Somewhat better permeability is a side effect.

Yes, the Octavia, having connected the rear wheels with a clutch, will overcome the icy climb, will not save in the winter in the mountains, it will not care about wet grass either, and the rut with liquid mud will not frighten. Only it should be very shallow. Ground clearance 153 mm is too small to seriously argue "it will pass - it will not pass." By the way, prepare another 8900 rubles for such disputes: branded engine protection is very useful!

Opponents are no better in this respect, so in this round - parity. And if you really need better cross-country ability than an ordinary passenger car, take a closer look at the Scout or Yeti. Yes, and "Kodiak" is not far off.

The Octavia is longer than its competitors, has a close wheelbase, but its main advantage is its body, which is a cross between a sedan and a hatchback. Huge backdoor and an incredibly capacious 568-liter trunk, which can be increased almost three times by folding the backrests rear seats, provide an edge over competing classic sedans. All sorts of nets, hooks and clamps help to organize this space in the most convenient and practical way.

Not only for luggage, there is also quite enough space for people: there can be no complaints with the four of you, the five of you will be a little cramped and lose the armrest. There are two USB ports at the back (where would we be without them today!), a 230 V socket, a curtain ...

Practical liftback celebrates victory over prestigious sedan: I put "Octavia" the first plus!

And for future buyers, I’ll note: if you choose beautiful 17-inch wheels (plus 15 thousand rubles), then ask for a spare tire, that is, a narrow wheel, because the former 16-inch, despite being full-size, will also be in the status of a temporary one, hobble to tire fitting.
