RAV4 price on secondary market

It is impossible not to mention the RAV4 of the first years of production, which had a design defect - a leak in the cooling system pump. But almost all the cars were then repaired under warranty. And perhaps the only nuance that worries the owners at the turn of 150,000 km is the cooling radiator. Due to the loss of tightness, it was subject to replacement.

RAV4 transmissions, like engines, do not cause any particular problems. The key to their health is, again, regular oil changes. Even the variator can boast of reliability. As soon as you are choosing an all-wheel drive car with a clutch in the rear differential, we recommend that you look in the service book for entries about changing the oil in the above-mentioned unit. The RAV4 body can be considered a model of anti-corrosion resistance, although you should not abuse it, since the paint is exclusively water-based. Crossovers were invented by marketers who offered buyers a conditional set of off-road qualities at a hefty price. Add in the brand's image, and you get the answer to the question of why the RAV4 is so slowly losing value in the secondary market. The third generation has lost its former main feature - permanent four-wheel drive. Alas, the 3-door version is no more.

The chassis is strong. The only complaint is a stiff suspension, especially at the rear, but reliability is on top. front lower arms they will last up to 150,000 km, and the resource of the rear trailing arms is usually 100,000 km. To brake system, as a rule, there are no complaints. In rare cases, a failed ABS sensor needs to be replaced.

Steering knocks are not uncommon after 40-80 thousand km. As a rule, the culprit is either a steering cardan (4-5 thousand rubles), or a steering shaft (from 5 to 11 thousand rubles), or steering rack(20-25 thousand rubles). Tie rods go more than 100 thousand km, but their replacement by the manufacturer is not provided. Tie rods only come with a new rack. But you can pick up an analogue for 700-800 rubles and replace it.

Other problems and malfunctions

The paintwork of the body, as on most cars, is weak and easily scratched. Soon there will be chips. The restyled RAV4, in addition, suffers from pockets of corrosion on the hood - around the chrome grille trim. The problem mainly concerns regions that use aggressive reagents in winter - Moscow and St. Petersburg. Dealers, when yellow spots appeared, repainted the hood under warranty. The gears of the airflow direction dampers may also creak. air conditioner. In this case, lubrication will also help. The cause of noise (cod) when changing operating modes can be flying damper rods or shifting of the gear due to the destruction of the latches.

The air conditioning compressor may stop turning on due to the destruction of the damper plate of the compressor clutch.

Electricity is not a problem in general. Sometimes there is a "glitch" of the air conditioning system, which disappears after the terminal is removed from the battery. The generator, as a rule, runs more than 150 thousand km, after which it may be necessary to replace the diode bridge.

Toyota RAV4 of the third generation is quite a reliable and practical car. It is worth fearing only diesel versions. Gasoline engines practically do not break.

Unlike fellow classmates, Haldex, which has not recently become very popular, works here with electronic control, but a simpler viscous coupling. If you follow it, changing the oil every 40,000 km according to the regulations, and at the same time do not rape the car with extreme off-road driving, it will last a long time. But if you neglect planned prevention, problems can arise, and costly ones. At first, the clutch will complain about health with a characteristic rumble from under the bottom.

By ignoring the problem, you end up with a 2WD car, and the entire clutch will have to be changed, which is quite expensive.

All of them are also considered problem-free. Both naturally aspirated engines easily digest our fuel, even of not the highest quality. The little things include the cooling system pump on a 2.4-liter engine - it starts to leak over the years. Simple sealing is not enough here: the pump will have to be changed entirely. The radiator may also leak, but this will not happen before the odometer counts 150,000 km.

In the secondary market, you can find modifications with a 3.5-liter gasoline V6, as well as diesel versions- these cars got to Russia in a roundabout way around official dealers. Domestic masters do not have any representative statistics about these units.

Chassis and steering

No heroism!

The chassis of the Rafik, by the standards of modern crossovers, has a standard design: the front wheels are elevated on MacPherson struts, and a multi-link suspension. There are no complaints about the electric power steering, but the steering rack does not differ in survivability: in some cases it staggers already by a run of 70 thousand km - this will become clear when you hear a tapping on small bumps. Craftsmen are trying to repair it, but this kind of poultices can extend the life of the rail by no more than 10,000–20,000 km. It is wiser to immediately change the part to a new one. Yes, it is expensive - but it is safe and reliable.
