  • power;
  • registration;
  • functionality.

After reading the reviews of the owners on the Internet, you can also identify other positive traits, for example, a large capacity of the cabin and luggage compartment or the possibility of tuning expansion.

The new Skoda Yeti has been developed in three different trim levels with different costs determined by technical indicators car:

  • Active - price from 1 million 49 thousand to 1 million 109 thousand rubles;

  • Style - price from 1 million 260 thousand to 1 million 440 thousand rubles.

As a rule, the cost of each configuration directly depends on the integrated functions and power characteristics. However, it is important to note that some medleys can be equipped with the same engine, regardless of the configuration.

Specifications

Particular attention in the Skoda Yeti 2018-2019 release deserves its technical characteristics. The new car received tuning opportunities, and the power parameters have undergone an almost complete change.

Body

Skoda Yeti 2018-2019 is a five-seater, 5-door extremely roomy hatchback with a high-strength body, a large trunk and the ability to make tuning. Its external dimensions are:

  • width - 1793 mm;
  • length - 4222 mm;
  • height - 1691 mm.

The new Skoda Yeti is equipped with an impressive wheelbase with new dimensions of 2578 mm and a decent ground clearance of 180 mm. In addition, the dimensions of the track have also changed. rear wheels up to 1537 mm and front wheel track up to 1541 mm. Detailed overview these details are present in the corresponding photos.

The saloon has the following features:

  • rear width - 1437 mm;
  • front width - 1446 mm;
  • rear height from the seats - 1027 mm;
  • front height from the seats - 1034 mm.

Among other things, in the updated Skoda Yeti, the trunk has increased to 1665 liters with the rear seat backs folded down.

The trunk can be enlarged by removing the rear seat backrests. In this case, its volume will be expanded to 1760 mm. At the same time, it is worth considering that the mentioned dimensions do not provide for the presence of a spare wheel in the trunk, but tuning is possible.

Separately, we can note the characteristics of the mass of the car:

  • full weight- 1865/1890/1925/2085 kg depending on the power configuration;
  • the maximum possible load capacity is 620 kg, regardless of power.

Of course, possible vehicle configurations model range Yeti from škoda are made with an ideal price-weight-power ratio. As a rule, every review on the Internet will confirm the superiority of the new car.

The parameters of the maximum load capacity are taken with the expectation of the Skoda Yeti Outdoor. That is, in some cases, the number may slightly, slightly, differ from the above.

Engine

Skoda Yeti 2018-2019 model year depending on the configuration, it can be equipped with one of four specially designed engines with their own technical characteristics. A review includes the following power units:

  • 6 liter MPI petrol engine with 110 horsepower Horse power(155Nm), combined with a 5-speed mechanical box gears and front-wheel drive;
  • 6-liter MPI petrol engine with 110 horsepower (155Nm), combined with a 6-speed gearbox and front-wheel drive;
  • 4-liter TSI petrol engine with 125 horsepower (200Nm), combined with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed robotic (DSG) gearbox and front-wheel drive;
  • An 8-litre TSI petrol engine with 152 horsepower (250 Nm), combined with a 6-speed robotic gearbox (DSG) and all-wheel drive.

It is important to note that each of possible engines new Skoda Yeti requires unleaded gasoline with at least 95 octane to maintain maximum service life. It is possible to install tuning versions of base engines. An equally important aspect is that each motor has its own dimensions.

Autocritics who completed the detailed Skoda review Yeti, agree that a car with and without mileage drives almost at the same level.

Dynamic characteristics

While the engine is directly dependent on the configuration, dynamic characteristics have a connection with each individual engine, both with and without mileage. Thanks to this, a detailed overview of the capacities can be carried out.

1.6-liter engine with 6-speed gearbox has:

  • maximum speed - 175 km / h;
  • acceleration to 100 km / h - 11.8 seconds;
  • fuel consumption for every 100 km - 6.9 liters.

1.6-liter engine with 7-speed gearbox has:

  • maximum speed - 172 km / h;
  • acceleration to 100 km / h - 13.3 seconds;
  • fuel consumption for every 100 km - 7.1 liters.

1.4-liter engine with 6-speed manual and 7-speed robotic gearbox It has:

  • maximum speed - 186-187 km / h;
  • acceleration to 100 km / h - 10.1-9.9 seconds;
  • fuel consumption for every 100 km - 5.8 liters.

The most productive 1.8-liter engine with a 6-speed robotic gearbox has:

  • maximum speed - 192 km / h;
  • acceleration to 100 km / h - 9 seconds;
  • fuel consumption for every 100 km - 8 liters.

It's easy to guess what exactly the 1.8-liter engine from škoda is gaining the most positive reviews both motorists and professional critics. This is due to its clear superiority over other engines, especially in the case of used cars.

Among other things, it can be noted that the capacity of the fuel tank in the Skoda Yeti 2018-2019 directly depends on the engine model. Thus, the 1.8-liter engine has a capacity of 60 liters, and all other engines - 55 liters.

Important! The new hatchback from škoda has the greatest possible off-road adaptability. This is due, equally, to the improved stabilization system for sharp turns, increased ground clearance and overall engine power, regardless of configuration.

5 doors crossovers

History of Skoda Yeti / Skoda Yeti

Yeti is Skoda's first crossover. The world premiere took place at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2009. Serial production of the model began on May 12, 2009. Russian car sales started in November 2009. The car is a symbiosis of unique design, safety, functionality and comfort.

Yeti is built on the Volkswagen A5 platform in the PQ35 version. The closest "relative" of the crossover can be called a model Skoda Octavia Scout, in comparison with which the novelty has increased to 180 mm ground clearance. The compact dimensions of the crossover guarantee easy handling and maneuverability in the city. At first glance at the Yeti, all attention is immediately drawn to the massive bumper and grille, surrounded by four headlights. The profile of the car is outlined by a peculiar line of a raised roof, expressive contours of the central and rear pillars body. The original and very friendly appearance of the Skoda Yeti hides technically advanced units and components from the parent concern Volkswagen.

The interior of the 5-seater Yeti is practical and rational. The cabin is spacious, the higher seating position gives passengers a sense of security and best review. Specially designed dashboard emphasizes the discreet interior design. The car has ample storage space. The heavily padded seats with lateral support and lumbar flex adjuster provide passengers with comfort and convenience on long journeys. The VarioFlex system allows you to transform each of the three rear row seats. Thanks to this system, it is possible to change the interior space of the car with virtually no restrictions, if necessary, increasing the loading space up to 1760 liters.

The engine range consists of a pair of TSI 16-valve petrol units and a 2-liter TDI turbodiesel. Transversely mounted TSI fours work with direct fuel injection into the combustion chambers and turbocharging. The basic front-wheel drive version is equipped with a 1.2 l TSI engine (105 hp). The time-tested 1.8-liter TSI (152 hp) is mated to a 4Motion all-wheel drive transmission. For all-wheel drive options, a two-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 170 horsepower is also offered, and in the front-wheel drive version, the power of this engine is 110 horsepower. As a transmission - a manual six-speed gearbox, a robotic six- or seven-speed DSG.

Skoda Yeti received the highest rating of "five stars" according to the results of crash tests conducted by Euro NCAP. Active safety is provided by bi-xenon headlights with rotary modules. Help avoid accidents electronic systems stabilization: ESP, EDS, AFM, HBA DSR, ABS, MSR, EBV, ESBS and ASR. To reduce the risk of a rear impact, the brake light flashing function is activated during emergency braking. Passive safety is provided by up to nine airbags, including an airbag for the driver's knees and airbags for passengers on rear seats, special fastening of the engine and pedals.

Skoda Yeti can rightfully be called a multipurpose compact class car for a family of 3-4 people, pleasant in all respects and useful for domestic trips. It will please a potential buyer with a high-quality assembly, economical engines and good-quality German interior trim materials.

In 2013, Skoda presented the updated Yeti 2014 model at the Frankfurt International Motor Show. The car is now offered in two versions: City for the city and Outdoor for off-road. The City version received body-colored bumpers and side protection moldings. The Outdoor modification is distinguished by a more off-road decor in the form of unpainted plastic door sills and bumpers, plus front pseudo-protection - a silver bumper trim. Also, this version has increased the corners of the geometric cross. Both versions received an updated appearance, a redesigned interior, a wide range of engines, new alloy wheels, ground clearance 180 mm and several additional options configuration.

The main changes have undergone the bow of the crossover. The car received new headlights, as well as rectangular fog lights instead of the old round ones. Now the fog lights are located at the bottom of the bumper, and not next to the head lights, as it was in the pre-styling version. As an option, you can order bi-xenon and LED running lights. As for the grille, its shape and dimensions have also changed slightly, and the hood with longitudinal stamping ribs is now crowned with a new company logo. The rear of the crossover received a slightly modified trunk lid with a different shape of the recess for the license plate, as well as new C-shaped lights and rectangular reflectors. Looking at the design of the restyled Skoda Yeti 2014, the essence of the company's new concept becomes clear - moving away from smooth lines to more strict and precise ones. Designers added four types alloy wheels new attractive design, as well as four new body colors: white (Moon White), green (Jungle Green), gray (Metal Gray) and brown (Magnetic Brown) - all metallic.

Changes inside Skoda Yeti 2014 do not look as dramatic as outside. Here, first of all, it is worth noting the appearance of a new 3-spoke steering wheel, which has 7 design options, better finishing materials and decorative overlays on the front panel.

One of the main innovations available for the restyled version is the new parking assistant, which can be optionally ordered with a rear view camera. It activates immediately when turned on. reverse gear and displays the image on the screen of the multimedia system. The car can also be equipped with a next-generation automatic parking assistant, which is able to independently park the car both parallel to the traffic lane and perpendicular to it. The innovative system itself determines the starting point of the maneuver and the optimal trajectory, and in the event of a risk of collision or exceeding the speed of 7 km/h, it initiates emergency braking. Another useful feature in new version crossover is KESSY keyless entry technology, which allows you to lock and unlock the car without using a key, as well as start the engine at the touch of a button.

In addition to new features, updated Skoda Yeti also offers familiar comfort features. They include panoramic sunroof, modern dual-zone climate control "Climatronic", heated front seats, cruise control, heated windshield and electric driver's seat.

Remained unchanged is the VarioFlex folding rear seat system, which gives the interior a unique ability to transform. So, the three rear seats can be folded or removed individually. If the middle seat is removed, the outer seats can be moved both longitudinally and transversely. There is a folding back of the front passenger seat, and folding tables in the backs of the front seats, a lot of glove compartments and pockets, bottle and glass holders. The volume of the luggage compartment is 405 liters. If you remove the rear seats completely, the amount of usable space will increase to an impressive figure of 1760 liters.

Yeti 2014 is available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions (torque is transmitted to the rear axle through the fifth generation Haldex clutch, previously the fourth generation Haldex). Buyers will be able to choose from three petrol and four diesel engines(only one is available in Russia), as well as a 6-speed manual or 6/7-speed DSG. Gas engine the entry level has a volume of 1.2 liters and a power of 105 hp. The other two petrol engines of 1.4 and 1.8 liters are capable of developing 122 and 152 hp. respectively. Modifications with 1.2 TSI and 1.4 TSI engines have only a front-wheel drive configuration and are equipped with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG robot. Skoda Yeti 1.8 TSI has four-wheel drive, and one of 2 types of transmissions works in tandem with the engine - the same 6-speed "mechanics" or 6-speed DSG. The range of diesel engines includes: 1.4 TDI - 140 hp and 320 N * m, 1.6 TDI - 150 hp and 250 N * m, 2.0 TDI - 110 hp and 280 N * m, 2.0 TDI - 170 hp and 350 N * m.

Skoda Yeti remains consistently high quality in terms of safety. Responsible for passive safety: child restraint system Isofix seats, 9 airbags, three-point seat belts in the front row with pretensioners and height-adjustable headrests. Active safety enhanced by ESC (Stability Control) and ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System), which are installed as standard equipment. Engine torque control (MSR), traction control (ASR) and electronic differential lock (EDS). The front fog lamps can optionally be equipped with a corner view function. Optionally, the car can be equipped with electronic assistants for the exit/arrival of the mountain, sensors for electronic monitoring of tire pressure.

For any automaker, the restyling procedure is not so much the modernization of a car to warm up consumer interest in it, but rather work on mistakes. Especially over those that fans of the brand constantly complain about. As a rule, we are talking about various design, technological, economic, marketing and design errors. Apparently, the Czech company Skoda decided that their crossover Yeti already perfect, so the only real mistake corrected during the restyling was the head optics, minor innovations do not count. Well, they have a right. Read all the details about the "updated" Yeti in our review!

Design

It's no secret that the main deterrent to sales of the first Yeti was a non-trivial appearance. Skoda fans who were not ready for experiments, who were accustomed to the conservative Czech style, didn’t like Bigfoot at all: it looked too cartoonish and frivolous against the background of other models of the brand. But the public, more open to new ideas, liked it, but such an audience was not enough for successful sales.

In connection with the failures of the first generation car, the Czechs thought about it and decided to redraw the Yeti's main controversial element - the head lighting equipment. And at the same time they took up the revision of the bumpers, grille and, for the sake of symmetry, taillights. As a result, Bigfoot frowned and became more strict, solid and ... a little boring. The only thing that has completely retained its originality in its appearance is the visual division of the body into driver and cargo-passenger parts. Evil tongues claim that Yeti is for pensioners and people burdened with all the hardships of family life, but it’s hard to agree with this, given the decent dynamics and many “smart” solutions that progressive motorists appreciate so much. Yeti - for those who know a lot about good and practical cars.

Design

The crossover is built on the basis of a larger old Skoda Octavia: from her he borrowed a “cart” with a McPherson front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension, as well as supercharged engines and a Haldex all-wheel drive system. True, unlike the pre-reform version, equipped with a 4th generation electro-hydraulic clutch, the restyled version received a 5th generation mechanism, which is lighter and faster. The new clutch works with a constant preload and transfers 4 percent of traction to the rear axle even in standard conditions, but it does not completely lock up and, in the absence of traction at the front wheels, can send back no more than 90 percent of the moment.

Adaptation to Russian conditions

Given that Yeti, like others Skoda cars, primarily positioned as a family car, it is not surprising that its off-road capabilities are limited, even in the case of an all-wheel drive modification. Still, its 180-mm ground clearance and good geometry of short bumpers are not enough to conquer Russian off-road. But for the city and country primer - a completely different matter. For the harsh Russian winter, Bigfoot has heated front seats, side mirrors and windshield washer nozzles. Electric windshield heating and a parking heater are available for a surcharge, as is Climatronic dual-zone climate control (in the “base” there is an ordinary air conditioner).

Comfort

In the cabin, the changes are minimal: like the restyled Skoda Superb, there are new steering wheel and DSG shift lever, and that's it. In general, this is good, because the Yeti interior can already be considered a model of ergonomics and comfort. Seats in the 1st row have a neutral shape and profile, due to which they are comfortable for riders of any size. For comfort, high growth will not become an obstacle, since the chairs have a wide range of adjustments, and steering column Adjustable in both height and reach. On the 2nd row is not too spacious, but this is more than offset by the incredible functionality of the rear seats. The sofa is divided into 3 parts, each of which moves, tilts, folds or completely dismantled. It is noteworthy that a similar solution is usually used in minivans, but not in compact crossovers.

Attention to detail in Skoda definitely learned from the parent car concern Volkswagen: drawers, hooks, shelves, trims, cup holders, pockets, straps and fasteners eloquently testify to this. Even the seat belt buckles have special locks. The luggage compartment of the Yeti is not the most spacious in the class, but it is well-organized. When folding the rear sofa, its volume increases from 405 liters. up to an impressive 1580 hp. Traditionally, a full-size spare tire is stored in the trunk underground. In addition, after restyling, a flashlight appeared in the cargo compartment - another "smart" solution from Skoda.

In the crash tests of the European independent organization Euro NCAP Yeti earned 5 stars out of 5, demonstrating excellent results: driver or adult passenger protection - 92%, child passenger protection - 78%, pedestrian protection - 46%, safety devices - 71%. Far from poor standard equipment, which includes front-mounted airbags, an Era-Glonass panic button, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and an electronic stability program (ESP), helped get good grades. In more expensive trim levels - side airbags, curtains, cruise control and an assistant when starting uphill. For a surcharge, you can purchase a rear-view camera, parking sensors, a driver fatigue sensor, a knee airbag, as well as an anti-theft alarm with volume sensors, roll sensors and an autonomous siren.

Entertainment systems the car has not changed. The base Yeti has a simple radio setup with an antenna and 4 speakers, while the top one has a two-din radio with 8 speakers, an SD card slot, Bluetooth wireless protocol and AUX / USB connectors for connecting mobile devices. You will have to pay extra for a full-fledged Amundsen multimedia complex with navigation. Both the head unit and the Amundsen sound quite acceptable. The optional "multimedia" pleases with the speed of response and image quality. In addition to it, Swing and Bolero audio systems are also available.

Skoda Yeti Specifications

Today, Yeti has three engines, and all are gasoline. The base 1.6-liter MPI engine with multiport injection develops 110 hp. and 155 Nm, combined with a five-speed "mechanics" or a six-speed automatic transmission. Intermediate option - 125-strong motor TSI 1.4 l. (200 Nm), which is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, or with a 7-speed DSG “robot”, and the top version is a 1.8-liter TSI engine with a return of 152 hp (250 Nm). The latter is in tandem with a six-speed DSG transmission and, unlike the others, is combined with all-wheel drive. According to the manufacturer, the average fuel consumption is from 5.8 to 8 liters. per 100 km, depending on the modification. It should be borne in mind that the real "appetite" may be greater.

The updated Skoda Yeti, like its predecessor, is built on the Volkswagen PQ35 platform. The novelty differs from its predecessor by a radiator grille, modified lighting, a new front and rear bumper, as well as a new tailgate. restyled crossover Skoda Yeti is offered in two versions: Yeti City - for the city and Yeti Outdoor - for off-road. The car in the City version received body-colored bumpers and side protective moldings. Yeti Outdoor features an off-road body kit in the form of unpainted plastic sills and bumpers, as well as a silver trim on the front and rear bumper. Salon Skoda Yeti was created in the best traditions of the Volkswagen concern - everything is strict and concise.

One of the features of the restyled Skoda Yeti is the presence of an electronic parking assistant, to which a rear-view camera is offered as an option. The system is automatically activated when reverse gear is engaged and displays an image on the infotainment screen. Optionally, an automatic assistant for parallel and perpendicular parking is available for the car: the electronics independently determines the starting point of the maneuver and the optimal trajectory, and in the event of a danger of a collision or exceeding the speed of 7 km / h, it initiates emergency braking.

Depending on the market, the updated Skoda Yeti is offered with an expanded range of petrol and diesel powertrains. These are: 1.2 TSI (105 hp, 175 Nm); 1.4 TSI (125 hp, 200 Nm); 1.6 MPI (110 hp, 155 Nm); 1.8 TSI (152 hp, 250 Nm); 1.4 TDI (140 hp, 320 Nm); 1.6 TDI (150 hp, 250 Nm); 2.0 TDI (110 hp, 280 Nm); 2.0 TDI (170 hp, 350 Nm). In Russia, the Skoda Yeti crossover is available with three power units:

Petrol with distributed fuel injection 1.6 MPI (110 hp, 155 Nm). The declared fuel consumption in the combined cycle is 6.9-7.1 liters per 100 kilometers. Acceleration time from zero to 100 km / h - from 11.8 to 13.3 seconds (depending on the transmission). Max speed- from 172 to 175 km / h.
. turbocharged petrol 1.4 TSI (125 hp, 200 Nm). In the combined cycle, the engine consumes 5.8 liters of fuel for every hundred of the way. From zero to the first hundred, the car "shoots" in 9.9 (10.1) seconds. Maximum speed - 187 (186) km / h.
. turbocharged petrol 1.8 TSI (152 hp, 250 Nm). Fuel consumption in the combined cycle - 8 l / 100 km. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h - 9 seconds. The maximum speed is 192 km/h.

Paired with power units, a 5- and 6-speed “mechanics”, a 6-speed “automatic” or a 6- and 7-speed DSG robotic transmission can work.

The updated Skoda Yeti is equipped with various safety and driver assistance systems, including the Isofix child seat attachment system, 9 airbags, 3-point seat belts, height-adjustable headrests, ESC and ABS. As an option, you can order an engine torque control system (MSR), traction control system(ASR), electronic differential lock (EDS), tire pressure sensors, hill-climb assist, and corner-to-corner fog lights.

In Russia, the restyled Skoda Yeti crossover is offered in three trim levels: Active, Ambition and Style. In the basic version, the car is equipped with air conditioning, ABS and ESP systems, frontal airbags, radio preparation with 8 speakers, steel 16-inch rims and central locking remote control. The list of equipment can be optionally expanded by ordering cruise control, Climatronic dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, an electric driver's seat, a rear-view camera and an automatic parking system.

Skoda Yeti - a car with a peculiar exterior and enough spacious interior. Skoda Yeti is equipped with economical powertrains. It has good handling and maneuverability, a balanced chassis and engine protection from mechanical damage: engine compartment securely protected by an aluminum shield. Of the minuses: the car has a small trunk, especially if there are five passengers in the car and everyone has their own luggage, a harsh suspension and problems with warming up in the winter season.

In 2009 on Russian market cars of the "crossover" class literally broke into the Czech model "Skoda Yeti". The Yeti (that is, the “snowman”) conquered, first of all, with its excellent technical characteristics and comfort, making it a tangible competitor to such models as the Nissan Qashqai, Mitsubishi ASX, Hyundai ix35 or Kia Sportage.

"Yeti" in colors and dimensions

Skoda Yeti was created on the Volkswagen A5 platform, which is quite logical: in 1990 volkswagen AG became a co-owner of the Skoda enterprise, which merged with the German concern, which had previously absorbed the German Audi and the Spanish Seat.

I must say that the idea of creating an SUV (and driving performance"Skoda Yeti" is very close to this class of cars, which will be discussed below) did not arise from scratch. Since the 30s of the last century, the automobile enterprise had experience in creating army and even tanks (there is a legend that the last of the three hundred light tanks of Czech production was shot down in 1941 near Moscow).

Of course, "Yeti" neither externally nor internally even remotely hints at the turbulent military past of the Skoda brand. The exterior of the car is moderately peaceful, but still not without a hint of its off-road purpose: dimensions"Skoda Yeti" (length 4.22, width 1.8, height 1.65 meters) and, most importantly, the clearance increased to 18 cm indicate clearly extraordinary abilities that are fully manifested in the all-wheel drive version.

The body colors of the Skoda Yeti also offer a choice between aggressive SUV and peaceful "SUV". There are exactly a dozen of them - from neutral white and silver to brutal black and green.

Body palette "Skoda Yeti":

  • the black
  • Red
  • burgundy
  • Brown
  • green
  • blue
  • blue
  • Gray
  • beige
  • silver
  • White.

Trunk space and interior comfort

Matched external dimensions car and interior, the height of which is from 1.08 m in front to 1.03 m in the rear. luggage compartment very voluminous even with the rear seats unfolded - 410 liters, and in their folded position - up to 1760 liters.

I must say that the designers treated the rear row of seats of the five-seater station wagon with special love, making it transformable. The so-called VarioFlex system, where a row consists of three separate seats, allows, in the absence of a central one, to shift the outer seats to each other by 8 cm each. The panoramic roof, which is also equipped with a sunroof and an electric curtain, allows passengers to do some distracting and entertaining business during the trip, for example, counting crows.

In general, the interior, made in the original two-tone solution, is very convenient: full power accessories and such pleasant trifles how many trunks and glove compartments for small items create the maximum comfort possible in driving conditions.

The safety of the driver and passengers is given increased attention. Depending on the configuration, a pair of front ones can be supplemented with four side ones. The Yeti's crash tests have shown exceptional results in terms of vehicle reliability, earning the highest Euro NCAP rating. Passive safety includes original technology such as bi-xenon headlights with cornering light, as well as more than a dozen other driver assistance aids from traction control (ABS) to forced stability control (DSR).

Moreover, even such a moment as “hindrance from behind” is taken into account, that is, during sudden braking, emergency stop signals are automatically turned on.

  • Basic security systems Skoda Yeti;
  • a reliable body reinforced with a technologically designed system of stiffening ribs;
  • Isofix child seat attachment mechanism;
  • system of blocking differentials with a heterogeneous coating of the web (EDL);
  • up to nine airbags (option)

Specifications Skoda Yeti

From the point of view of the power content of the car, there are four engine options for the Yeti on the market today, duplicating the Volkswagen ones: 1.2, 1.4 and 1.8 liter gasoline and a two-liter diesel engine. All of them are turbocharged, ranging from 105 to 152 hp. from. And the record belongs to diesel unit, which develops maximum torque at 1800-2500 rpm, and the internal combustion engine is 1.8 liters, the maximum return falls on the mode from 1500 to 4500 rpm. True, the fuel consumption of this Skoda models Yeti is significantly larger: on the highway - 7-8 l / 100 km, in the city - 11-12 liters (subject to a non-aggressive driving style). For comparison: the weakest 1.2-liter engine consumes almost the same amount of gasoline as a two-liter diesel diesel - 6-7 liters per 100 km.

Modifications of WV engines on the Skoda Yeti, coupled with a transmission

  • 1.2TSI MT
  • 1.2TSI DSG
  • 1.4TSI MT
  • 1.4TSI DSG
  • 1.6MPI MT
  • 1.6 MPI AT
  • -1.8 TSI DSG 4×4
  • 2.0 TDI DSG 4×4

Of course, this indicator depends not only on the workload of the car, the driving style of the driver and the number of traffic jams on the way, but also on the type of gearbox. There are two types of them in the Skoda Yeti: manual transmission (5- or 6-speed) and robotic (7 gears). The latter is similar in principle to conventional “mechanics”, only the clutch moment is provided not by pressing the pedal, but by an automatic hydraulic or servo drive with a signal from an electronic processor. He is entrusted with the moment of changing pairs of clutch gears for changing gear ratio from high to low and vice versa.

The undoubted plus of the “robot” box in the main component of the unit is that it is mechanical. The rest is electronics, which provides optimal modes when the clutch is actuated, especially if it is double, stimulating a smooth transition to the next gear. True, the electronic “brains” of the gearbox fail more often than the nerve endings of a living person, which allow you to turn on the clutch with your left foot at the right time. But rarely enough to last 100-200 thousand kilometers, following the recommendations for car maintenance. But for women and lazy men it is quite convenient.

But for active drivers, fans (including winter ones), “mechanics” are more suitable. The manual transmission on the Yeti is soft, as they say, obedient. In off-road conditions, this is the most suitable option, ensuring that prolonged driving in snow, mud at high loads will not create problems with gear changes.

"Yeti" all-wheel drive

Well, if you are seriously talking about the transmission, it would be a crime not to talk about the drive systems for transmitting torque to the drive wheels.

As already mentioned, the Yeti is available with two transmission options: front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. With a lonely leading front end, everything is clear: a purely “SUV” for urban operating conditions with a claim to permissiveness. By the way, not only crossovers of the SUV class (according to the European classification, which include the Skoda Yeti), but also more brutal cars that are a priori sharpened off-road, for example, the legendary American Jeep Cherokee, sin with such a layout.

But with all-wheel drive, the Yeti is much more interesting. It is necessary to make a reservation right away: Yeti will crawl almost everywhere - in mud, and in slurry, and in snowdrifts, but not in a deep rut that will land the body on bridges, and your "snowman" will helplessly flounder with its paws into the void, without catching the wheels hard ground.

"He's all-wheel drive, he must get out!" - the owners of the Yeti are indignant. As one good trophy raider said, "remember, son, four-wheel drive does not owe anyone anything." Even lifted land rover Defender in a deep rut is powerless. Like our UAZs and GAZs, they are recognized leaders in overcoming forests, swamps, sands and other Russian evil spirits.

But on even (with respect to the 18-centimeter clearance, of course) snow, in the mud, the Yeti swamp has something to surprise the owner. The rear pair is connected here not forcibly, but with the help of a Haldex clutch, the control of which depends on the readings of the sensors of the engine control unit, the ABS system and other components that control the parameters of the engine and chassis. At low speeds (up to 30 km/h), an off-road auxiliary complex functions separately, which controls the transmission when starting off on ice, mud and other slippery surfaces. The reverse function - holding the car - off-road provides for extreme descents.

The anti-slip mechanism (ABS) is also original: in extreme mode, it temporarily blocks the rotation of the wheels in such a way that a “snowdrift” of soil forms in front of the tread, due to which further advancement of the car is ensured. For the honorary title of "Absolute SUV" "Yeti" lacks a full center axle (although there are no axles here - independent suspension) and wheel lock. Although, on the other hand, they are, why if electronics rules?

Restyling Skoda Yeti

Of course, not all the features and options of the Skoda Yeti listed above are present in the base model. For seven years, the car was supplemented with new options, mostly not significant, but also other organs of perception. Today, there are three configurations - Active, Ambition and Elegance, which differ mainly in the interior of the cabin. And let the buyer not be confused by other names assigned to this noble car, such as: - Yeti Outdoor - Yeti Monte-Carlo - New Superb - New Superb Combi - Hockey Edition - Kodiaq.

The difference is in the country of implementation, but inside and out it is still the same kind, reliable Skoda Yeti sample 2009. Except modernized.

In 2013, there was a redesign, called the buzzword "restyling", but in fact little has changed in the car. Lights were added to the headlights, the full-face decorative grille was slightly changed ... The already mentioned a roof with a panoramic view with a selfie sunroof, as well as a rear-view camera for comfortable parking.

By the way, in the latest configuration of the Yeti there is an auto-parking system, when it is better not to touch the steering wheel: the controller will park the car itself, provided that the driver does not press the accelerator pedal.

Still, the Yeti was not designed for parking. His element is an active drive that does not go beyond the limits of a well-thought-out country trip. Even in summer, even in winter - in solving such a problem, he certainly will not let you down.
