Jetta 2 years of release. Description Volkswagen Jetta II

Today, many car owners, who have at their disposal not modern car models, but more rare options, do not stop saying that many design features should be adopted for new car modifications. As the history of creation and production experience of the 2nd generation VW Jetta show, there were really interesting finds at that time that attracted buyers in such car models.

It is worth saying that in fact the second series of the car Volkswagen Jetta, which hit the market in March 1984, was nothing special. The only thing you can notice is that it was still the same compact sedan, which was developed on the basis of the same base model in the form of a hatchback. Volkswagen Golf, but maximally modernized relative to it.

The appearance of the novelty and its proposed modifications differed from the progenitor model range Golf and the first release of the Volkswagen Jetta with a modified body and decorative panels. There was also a special transverse engine layout, with front-wheel drive cars.

There is no limit to perfection

volkswagen sedan Jetta went on sale in 2 body styles, namely with two doors in the form of a sports version and with 4 doors, like a classic sedan. However, as practice has shown, the two-door body did not take root in the world market and therefore, in 1992 Volkswagen abandoned this type of body.

Throughout the entire period of production of this car, and this is from 1984 to 1991, the design bureau of the manufacturer has constantly improved the design features of the car, as well as its power and efficiency, achieving the best performance for that time.

It is also worth mentioning that even then they began to test hydraulic valve clearance compensators, innovative developments for fuel injection technology such as Digifant, Digijet and MonoJetronic. Already the 2nd generation of the VW Jetta is equipped with a 16-valve engine internal combustion modification of the GTi, which implements with the help of electronic system ignition process.

So, the updated model of the Volkswagen Jetta, as well as its previous premiere series, proved to be in demand among potential buyers. During operation, VW Jetta II proved its efficiency, reliability and improved comfort. It is also impossible not to notice that the new generation has significantly increased the resource indicator power unit and increased its service life.

Jetta II: history and modernity

It is worth saying that the former popularity of the VW Jetta, specifically the 2nd generation, was not in vain, since its status as an automobile bestseller in the 90s played a key role in the modern reproduction of models of the past in China. Moreover, today it is China that is considered the most developed car market and car industry in the world. Despite the fact that their own car brands are not leaders in world sales, however, the way out of this situation was the production under license from the owners of European brands, models of the 90s. The list of such "elected" representatives included VW Jetta generation 1984.

The joint venture FAW-Volkswagen is located in the Chinese town of Changchun. Its main direction was originally considered to be the assembly cheap cars Volkswagen Jetta II and VW Passat B2, now it is engaged and modern cars, including the expensive Audi Q7. The 2nd generation VW Jetta appeared on the Chinese market about 9 years ago, and still occupies a leading position in the lists of the most compact and complete cars. The most attractive thing about it is affordable prices for any buyer and engineering from Germany. About 20,000 units are sold per month.

Main characteristics

The new models have become 6 mm wider than their predecessors, and due to the updated suspension, the height of the car has decreased by 23 mm. Volkswagen dimensions Jetta II are as follows: 4415 mm - length, height - 1415 mm, width - 1674 mm, wheelbase length - 2471 mm. Engine capacity - 1.6 liters, engine power - 140 Nm (95hp). Diesel engine power - 65 hp, volume - 1.9 l. Five-speed mechanical box gears.

Volkswagen Jetta II generation

Compared to previous models, the new VW Jetta II has slightly changed the appearance of the car, features of the modern Volkswagen front end have appeared. The instrument panel has changed in the cabin, a display has appeared between the tachometer and the speedometer, which shows the amount of fuel, temperature, hours, mileage. It's modern. Also in the car there are 2 airbags, full power accessories, a new and modern audio system.

European bestseller Jetta against Russian "classics"

Today, if we consider a similar version of the reproduction of VW Jetta models in Russia, then it can easily replace the “classic”, since this model is also easy to repair. Spare parts and technological units are also available for purchase in Russian stores, and the design itself is uncomplicated.

As for safety, the solution to this issue is obviously in favor of the experience of Volkswagen and their Jetta 2 model, since it has two airbags, which our compatriots so dreamed of. The Russian auto industry has equipped only Lada Priora and Lada Kalina with airbags, and in the “classic” there are no power accessories, no power steering, no audio system, and, moreover, no means for passenger safety. Thus, the history of the best-selling car of the Volkswagen concern is not over yet, and perhaps in the near future this particular model will be in Russian dealer centers sales.

That rare case when it is practically useless to imagine a car and talk about it: they know from young to old, regardless of gender, occupation and nationality. And in any rural garage they will tell you the whole "truth" about galvanized bodies, and about the interchangeability of spare parts with the domestic auto industry, and about the best modifications, and about tuning ... In general, the title of "people's" VW Golf / Jetta II staked out for a long time!

Years of manufacture, modifications, features of operation, weaknesses ... It makes no sense to write ordinary material about the Golf / Jetta II. because weaknesses these models have practically none, and those that do are well known to any mechanic. They can also tell that the weakest point of these cars is their owners: when the car was launched, neither the legendary German quality (then still really legendary!), nor the absolute thoughtfulness of the design can save it.

What's really impressive about the Golf/Jetta II is the materials. But not luxury, but their durability: the car is already under 30 years old, and wipe the panel with a cloth - it will sparkle like new! The same can be said about the interior upholstery - it is not "killed" by years or dirt. Well, as for ergonomics, here the Germans can also be given a huge plus: it is more comfortable to sit than in the "Belarusian" Geely.

In terms of practicality and spaciousness, the Golf / Jetta II, despite their compact size, did not disappoint their owners at all - it's not a problem to drive three of us behind. Although the problem may turn out to be different: for 30 years, the seats have sagged slightly ...

The legendary Volkswagen diesel engines of those times "spoiled" the Belarusians - they quickly got used to absolute reliability, unpretentiousness and economy. As well as maintainability: these motors were easily and relatively inexpensively "capitalized", after which they continued to roll hundreds of thousands of kilometers. It’s a little worse with gasoline ones - sometimes there were modifications with capricious fuel supply systems, but Belarusians have long learned to solve these problems quickly and for a penny.

The fact that the Golf/Jetta II has a rigid suspension is probably known to every second Belarusian, because at least once he was probably a passenger or driver of this car. And that in sharp turn they bully the "inside" rear wheel, many people also know, since the Golf / Jetta II was very often bought as the first car. So it is very difficult to say something new here: everyone knows everything about the "people's" car ...

Who is against?

If the Belarusians had shown ingenuity, then we would have had several monuments to iconic cars of a bygone era for a long time, and tourists would have been drawn to Minsk not only to watch hockey. After all, there is everything for such an adventure: people's love, myths passed from mouth to mouth and, paradoxically, retro cars that themselves move in space. And when you look at specimens like this Volkswagen Jetta II, you understand that they will ride for a long time.

The second generation Jetta was produced from 1984 to 1992, although at the beginning of 2013 such cars, but under the name Jetta Pionier, continued to roll off the assembly line at one of the factories in China. Over the entire period of production, more than 1.7 million Jetta II saw the light. From "twin brother" Golf models II, this sedan, which had both two- and four-door versions, is distinguished not only by the original front lighting, but also by almost everything related to the rear of the body: skins, gutters, some elements of rear optics, bumpers and glass. This, by the way, must be taken into account if you are looking for something in the bodywork. In 1988, a minor restyling was carried out: the "windows" on the front door windows disappeared, due to which side mirrors placed almost in the middle of the door, "wide" bumpers and a steering wheel appeared, similar to what was installed on the VW Passat B3. Despite the fact that the "ZZZ" in the VIN code is just empty positions filled in when delivering cars to the markets of North and South America, there are many cars running on the roads of the country in decent condition - the zinc-containing primer gave the metal a good chance to survive. However, there are even more rotten cars. Processing, as in the case of the copy in the photo, of course, is not very aesthetic, but in rust around the aesthetics it is even less. On many versions, the wheel arches are protected by plastic overlays, but if they weren’t periodically removed and the body wasn’t processed, then the rust “ate” everything there for a long time. It is almost impossible to find a copy with properly working door handles, and Chinese parts fall apart quickly, it is often even difficult to install them in place.

For the Jetta II, a total of more than ten modifications of gasoline and diesel engines were offered. They had a volume of 1.3 to 2.0 liters and a power of 55 to 137 hp, and a 1.6-liter diesel engine, depending on the modification, developed 54-80 hp. 1.6 and 1.8 liter gasoline engines are considered optimal in terms of dynamics, resource and economy, but there are not so many of them on the market. The power system used carburetors and injectors. Carburetor versions, in addition to traditional jet clogging, often suffer from malfunctions. starting device, and on injection modifications, various sensors fail. Jetta II equipped with a Pierburg 2EE carburetor with electronic control, - for lovers of garage gatherings. It is not easy to make it work correctly, just as it is not easy to find a specialist who is ready to take on such work. Even despite the fact that repair kits for its bulkhead can still be found on sale, the original carburetor is often replaced with a Zhiguli one. The weak point of engines with a mono-injector is a quick failure of the regulator idle move, which results in increased consumption fuel and high idle. Although it is worth recognizing that the relevance of weaknesses in a car that is already 30 years old is of a completely different kind: it is much more important that the cylinder block is not bored out to the last repair size, and the body is still in a state where it can be welded and painted.

In a mechanical gearbox, semi-axle bearings break from old age. The parts themselves are cheap, assembly-dismantling repairs can cost more. Almost all Jetta IIs have problems with fifth gear - the teeth on the gear are sheared. The suspension is simple, rigid, maintainable. A huge trunk of 550 liters constantly provokes owners to overload the car. Therefore, many of the rear springs have been replaced by more powerful ones from the Passat (with a little refinement).

The opinion of the owner of the Volkswagen Jetta II, 1991 onwards, 1.8 l, manual transmission, declared mileage of 500 thousand km:

“When I bought my Jetta in 1999, everyone was talking at the temple: they say, why, she “eats” so much, you can go broke on maintenance, etc. Then diesels were still in vogue ... I have an RP engine, 90 " horses", consumption in the city - up to 9 liters per "hundred", on the highway - up to 6.5-7 liters. As time has shown, I did not lose. In 2010, when the mileage was approaching 400 thousand, the original engine required repair. In addition, it was already necessary to sort out the "box". I calculated and came to the conclusion that the repair is inappropriate: for $ 500 I bought a motor, gearbox, wiring and "brains" with a mileage of only about 100 thousand. The son is already joking that now even it’s scary to think how long this car will stay in our family. But I know that it won’t last more than 5-7 years - the body will rot. No matter how you tint it every year, but the metal is not the same: natural wear, plus combat marks , plus our winter pickles on the roads."

Unfortunately, the Jetta II cannot leave with honor: the car, like 10 years ago, is bought either as the first car that they learn to drive, or as vehicle"for slaughter" - they go until she finally gets up. And if you have a Jetta II good condition- do not sell: perhaps someday we will still erect a monument to her.

Our opinion

This is no longer just a car - it is an investment: a successfully bought Golf / Jetta II in perfect condition is unlikely to become cheaper in the next 5-10 years, since you still need to look for a more unpretentious car. But this is the whole problem: there are practically no ideal ones left, and what is left is reluctant to buy ...

  • In 1984, Volkswagen introduced the three-volume Jetta model second generation. Compared to its predecessor, the car has become larger, received a slightly corrected appearance and richer equipment.

In 1992, the production of the model was curtailed due to the appearance of a new generation car, however, in the Celestial Empire, the production of the “second Jetta” continued until 2013. For your life cycle the sedan sold around the world in the amount of 1.7 million units.

The "second" Volkswagen Jetta belongs to the C-class according to the European classification, and it was available only in three-volume body with two or four doors.

The length of the car, depending on the modification, is 4346-4385 mm, the width is 1665-1680 mm, and the height is 1410 mm. wheelbase and ground clearance do not depend on the number of doors - 2470 mm and 130 mm, respectively.

Under the hood of the 2nd generation Jetta, you can find one of seventeen engines. The gasoline range is represented by four-cylinder atmospheric units with a volume of 1.3 to 2.0 liters, which produce from 55 to 140 Horse power power and from 97 to 180 Nm of torque. The 1.6-liter diesel engine in the atmospheric version generates 54 “horses” and 93 Nm of peak thrust, and its turbocharged version generates 16 forces and 62 Nm more. In tandem, 4- or a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 3-speed automatic transmission, which sent power to the front wheels, although four-wheel drive was also offered for the three petrol fours.

Jetta 2 is based on the Volkswagen Group A2 "cart" with independent undercarriage both axles in the form of shock-absorbing McPherson struts and coil springs. The brake system has the following design: disc devices at the front and drums at the rear.

Positive sides sedan are the prevalence, from which the easy availability of spare parts, reliable design, low fuel consumption, ease of maintenance, voluminous trunk, fairly roomy interior, energy-intensive and moderately stiff suspension, and venerable age follow.

Negative points - poor sound insulation from external noise sources, not very effective brakes, the absence of any security systems and weak head optics.

Gradually, the sensational car that won the hearts of the people of the Volkswagen Jetta was replaced by new version in the back of MK2 released by the company in 1984. The Jetta mk 2 was built on the Golf platform and did not differ in any way from its popular predecessor, except for the body type.

According to official figures, the Jetta MK 2 sedan was originally produced in two-door and four-door body styles, with a luggage compartment of 500 liters. However, due to very low demand for a two-door body, its production was stopped in 1992. But the first version of the body is well established in the market and has become the most popular option. In general, as always, the Volkswagen company once again immortalized its name in the history of the automotive industry and created another "people's" car for a comfortable human life.

    MK 2 engine modifications

Next, consider what modifications existed jetta car MK 2, depending on power equipment. The table below shows the entire list of motors that have ever been installed on this model Volkswagen Jetta. As you can see, there are engines of both gasoline and diesel types.

Installed on the car different engines(a feature of cars produced by the second generation). For the most part, gasoline engines intended for installation had a different volume (1.3 l, 1.6 l, 1.8 l), there was also diesel engine with a volume of 1.6 liters. Jetta was produced with front-wheel drive, with and without hydraulic booster, as well as with disc and drum brakes. It can be noted that the Jetta was also produced with all-wheel drive, for which it received the name Syncro.

For those who are familiar with the history of the development and formation of the Jetta model firsthand, it is known that the Volkswagen Jetta mk 2 and golf car mk2 (the start of production of this brand of cars was laid in 1983) are very similar, since the Golf is the ancestor of the entire Volkswagen Jetta lineup. But if we take a closer look at these two cars, we will see that the Jetta MK 2 still has a difference, and it consists in three details: headlights, body and radiator grille.

From the very beginning, the Volkswagen Jetta was produced with pseudo-windows. Because of this ill-conceived external body element, the side mirrors were located in the middle of the doors, which interfered with the movement while driving. good review. In 1988, the company nevertheless made a modernization of the mirrors, putting them in a corner. You can see this innovation already on the car we are reviewing.

VW Jetta mk2 has a simple, not pretentious interior design, made from quality materials. The panel was created not only to inform the driver about the high-speed mode of movement, but also in order to create the most comfortable conditions. On this panel there are buttons that regulate the climate in the cabin, namely heating and ventilation, as well as lighting. Yet this car boasts a standard audio system, which was added to the package for the first time.

VW MK 2 and today on the market

There is nothing surprising in the fact that this representative of Volkswagen found a piece of world fame for himself and became a recognized standard of the sedan class. Compact and moderately budgetary, it has become an excellent base for the PRC, in order to give it a second life with the help of a small upgrade in the guise of the Jetta M k 2, type 1 G 2. It is worth saying that the production of the sedan in the PRC has been launched since 1993, for the first time, this model experienced restyling in the fall of 1997, after which for almost 10 years it did not require any changes and improvements. According to official figures, the last modernization of the Volkswagen Jetta took place in the summer of 2006. What happened as a result?

Thus, at one time they entered into an agreement on joint cooperation in the form of the FAW-Volkswagen enterprise, both companies officially announced that the VW Mk 2 sedan would be in production until 2015. Why before this year? Yes, in fact, the official representatives gave the answer, saying that by this time the new development of the Volkswagen Jetta NF, which will become the most sought-after sedan of 2015, will have to declare itself by this time. However, to this day, there is no data on the release of this model.

To date, the Mk 2 has been and remains the best-selling vehicle in the Chinese market since its debut as a budget car in 1991.

In the spring of 2010, VW Mk 2, in spite of everything, underwent another restyling and became even more modern version"people's" car for the people of China. Once again, the Volkswagen Jetta received an updated external design and more respectable interior, as well as comfortable and functional dashboard and more powerful engine. Now, for a few years ahead, the sedan will become the sales leader in this country. Already, many who want to buy a sedan fill out applications in advance at dealerships.

Still brand Volkswagen leads a large army of fans living in all corners of the world. German quality has been considered the best for a long time and therefore it is German technology that has no equal on the market, both in Russia and abroad. An immortal creation named Volkswagen Jetta is a role model and the object of envy of competitors. What conquers this brand? The answer is very simple: appearance, design, and the most important quality - efficiency.

VW Golf 2/ Jetta service and maintenance manual

The 1.8 liter 16-valve engines fitted to GTi models from October 1986 are equipped with two camshafts, one controls the intake valves and the other controls the exhaust. Four valves are installed on each cylinder, acting in pairs simultaneously.

Compared to 8-valve modifications, this allows for better cylinder scavenging, which is manifested in an increase in engine power. From crankshaft rotation is transmitted through toothed belt only on the exhaust valve shaft sprocket, and the intake valve shaft is driven by a chain drive at the opposite end of the cylinder head.

Most repair procedures for a 16 valve engine are basically the same as those described in Part B of this chapter for an 8 valve engine. The following paragraphs describe the steps in which these procedures differ.

Adjusting the idle speed K-Jetronic 1 Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature, turn off all electrical consumers on the vehicle. Recall that when adjusting the idle speed, the radiator fan of the cooling system should not work. 2 Disconnect the crankcase ventilation hose. 3 Connect a tachometer and an exhaust gas analyzer to the engine. 4 If the injector tubes were removed and installed immediately before the adjustment, increase the engine speed several times to 3000 rpm and then let the engine run for idling at least two minutes. 5 Check that the idle speed control control valve starts buzzing when the ignition is switched on. If not, check the system as described in paragraph 3. 6 Disconnect the idle speed control wire connector. It is located near the ignition coil. 7 Let the engine idle and check that the rpm is 1000 ± 50 rpm. If necessary, remove the cover and turn the idle speed adjustment screw as far as necessary. 8 Check that the CO content is correct. When measuring the CO content, temporarily close the free part exhaust pipe, not occupied by the analyzer. If necessary, turn the adjustment screw as far as required. A special wrench is required to turn the screw, but a suitable tool can be used as an alternative. Keep in mind that during adjustment with the fixture installed, do not press or lift the screw and accelerate the engine. 9 Install the crankcase ventilation hose. If the CO content increases when the ventilation hose is connected, the engine oil is diluted with gasoline and must be replaced. In the event that an oil change is undesirable, a long drive at high speed will reduce the amount of gasoline in the oil. 10 Connect the plug and remove the measuring devices. Note that after connecting the wire plug, the idle speed stabilization system should return the engine speed to the required value.

All modifications of Volkswagen Jetta II

The meeting with the diesel Volkswagen Jetta turned into a test of feelings and the wording "I love you, but ...".

The intrigue ensued a long time ago - when I met the "fifth" Golf. He really liked driving performance. Assembled, almost rigid. Accurate, almost sharp. Confident, almost unmistakable. Fast... almost fast. At that time, a 1.6-liter 102-horsepower engine was on the “class standard”, and even paired with an “automatic”. I had to catch the buzz from "pure" handling - without dynamics.

And now it's time to run in Jetta. In addition to a new meeting with my favorite chassis, another pleasant event awaited me - a rendezvous with a 2-liter turbodiesel. This motor is also familiar to me. I remember how in comparative test two Passats converged - 2.0 FSI against 2.0 TDI. And how a diesel engine, despite a passport head start of a dozen horses, turned out to be head and shoulders more interesting and reckless than a boring gasoline engine. And why is everyone ignoring this in Russia?

Be that as it may, now the same motor came to life with distinctive sound under the hood of a lighter Golf sedan. Looking forward to enjoy...

By the way, I did not make a reservation - I called the Jetta a Golf sedan on purpose. Here is the previous Bora, which was rightfully positioned separately from hatchbacks. How much more solid his appearance was! And the current Jetta, although it does not hold the same solidity, how, apart from the trunk, does it differ from the Golf? What did you do to earn your own name?

But this is me, loving... I like Jetta. Indeed, along with the “face” and the interior, she adopted from her brother those habits, because of which I was imbued with warm feelings for him. I feel it right away, without even moving. By how low, in a sporty way, you can lower an elastic chair with a strict, comfortable profile. By the way a small three-spoke steering wheel with a puffy rim fits nicely in your hands. By how accurately and obediently the lever of the 6-speed "mechanics" dived into the nest of the first gear.

I raise the diesel speed closer to three thousand, because I want to start briskly: I know from experience that this diesel engine is not a fountain at the bottom. When you set off calmly, you should also be prepared for a treacherously long-stroke and uninformative clutch - a little mistake, and the Jetta stalls with a heartbreaking metallic knock. Need to get used to it.

This motor is designed to revel in momentary riding. Pickup after 2500 rpm is especially noticeable when accelerating from low revs. By 3000, the diesel is already gaining so many newton meters under the pedal that even in fifth gear it turns out to be a good shot without touching the transmission lever. And when you start to snap off the steps with the necessary dexterity, it turns out to be a good idea to wipe the nose of smart people on high-octane fuel. Take a closer look at the TDI nameplate! We are relatives of the Le Mans champions!

That's why I love you, Jetta. I love it, but… But why was a car that drives so recklessly in a straight line, stands so firmly in corners and responds so passionately to provocations, awarded such a cold appearance? I love Jetta, but I can’t put up with her burgher-like virtuous appearance, with her feigned solidity, with imitation of the big Passat, with the formal hugs of her salon, with the dispassionate mentoring tone of instruments ... Did the creators spend all their emotions on the chrome-plated radiator shield, floor the accelerator pedal and takeoff torque curve of a turbodiesel?

In general, even if I have $30,000, I am unlikely to spend it on a Jetta. I know that I will get for them a spacious rear sofa, and a roomy trunk, and exemplary quality, but the amount and other mentioned “buts” ... I will not be happy in a long life together with her - only in fleeting meetings like this now, when you can forget about the "but".

    Volkswagen Jetta II, 1985

Let's start with the fact that the Volkswagen Jetta II is really an "indestructible" car. I understood this from the very moment when my father bought it, I was 12 years old, Jetta II was after the accident, so the previous owner sold it in the region of 40,000 rubles. And after the accident, only a dent remained on the right wing. As the owner said, a bus crashed into him, and at a fairly high speed. I was not surprised when I saw the thickness of the body iron. As for the engine, he skated 3,326,991 km, which is also something to be proud of. I stalled once, and then I ran out of gas. The engine of the Volkswagen Jetta II is quite powerful and very frisky, acceleration is simply amazing (especially considering that the car was made in 1985). The cooling system works great and has never let me down. My suspension was from a VW Passat B3, so I can’t say anything about the standard one. But I was pleased with the Passat, especially when I had to go through the industrial zone. Fuel consumption is not so great, in 5th gear about 6 l / 100 km. My father and I accelerated to 224 km / h (measured by electronic speedometer) after he boosted the engine to 115 hp. Volkswagen Jetta II can be safely called a "constructor". It always and everywhere has spare parts that cost "penny". It’s also easy to fit spare parts from other cars on the Volkswagen Jetta II, it’s not picky at all, given that I once poured cleaning fluid into the engine instead of oil and drove normally for a month, then I told my father that I mixed up the canisters. For all the time it has not rusted or rotted. As for the interior, there is German simplicity and quality. Nothing has torn or broken off since 1985. Although lovers of comfort and luxury have nothing to do in it.

Advantages : inexpensive operation, frisky character, fuel economy, driving pleasure.

disadvantages : uncomfortable and outdated interior.

    Volkswagen Jetta II, 1988

I am a professional driver of 26 years, a former truck driver, with a total experience since 1970. This is a working machine, never failed anywhere, not on a trip to hunt, fishing and recreation. Volkswagen Jetta II picks up speed easily, tested it as much as it can give. I was afraid of more than 200 km / h, because. it is light and almost takes off. For stability, I put wide tires on 14 - excellent. The fact that it is tough on the primer is true, but it goes like clockwork on asphalt. In winter, the plant with half a turn. The main spare parts for the Volkswagen Jetta II are cheap and always available, but almost never did repairs. There is a fuel supply control panel - excellent, there is no excess consumption, and the oil does not eat. I also had a Moskvich and a Zhiguli, in general, I drove almost all our cars and foreign cars. If someone wants to show off, then let them buy expensive devices, but they forget that they will lose a lot in repairs and on fuel too. And I have already said that this is a working machine, with a little maintenance, it will never let you down. If you bought a car, you will have to look more than after your wife. In general, I like it. And I’ll add that the Volkswagen Jetta II does not rust, because. galvanized body. I have the honor.

Advantages : Easy to repair. Unpretentiousness. Endurance.

    disadvantages : age.

    Volkswagen Jetta II, 1985

The car went as a gift from the father-in-law, so the year 85 was not particularly embarrassing. Avoiding tedious stories about the dating procedure, the first launch and other lyrics, I will immediately move on to the specifics. The engine is quite powerful, especially at 1-3 speeds, but the sharper it started, the lower the gas tank arrow fell. Volkswagen Jetta II does not cause much trouble, but there are obvious disadvantages: increased fuel consumption, I don’t know if this is old age or a malfunction, but refueling has become a ritual. The hydraulic lifters knock on the cold, but everything goes away with warming up, I fill in the oil with full synthetics, even in the severe frost that marked this winter. The stove did not heat well, especially in winter, steam came out of the mouth even after it was fully warmed up. I eliminated this drawback by installing an additional pump on the cooling system hose at the outlet of the stove. Now Tashkent. Suspension - hard. At first I thought that it was in the racks, indeed, the front ones broke through, I had to replace it, but the comfort didn’t increase much. In general, the car is noisy, you feel every bump, but perhaps age has made itself felt. Appearance. Even the spoiler does not add much charm, but the high ground clearance allows you to jump on different curbs and proudly park next to the jeeps where the “simple crawlers” won’t go. Pleased with the steering angle. In a limited space, you can leave in several steps. I'm 193 cm tall, but driving a Volkswagen Jetta II is very comfortable, I'm not embellishing it, it's really comfortable. There is also enough space in the back, but no more than two adult men. The trunk is huge, I just didn’t carry it there, now I’m driving a stroller. I recently changed tires, so two wheels were in the trunk, and I also stuffed the stroller there. All in all, the Volkswagen Jetta II is a workhorse.

Advantages : reliability. Maintainability. Roomy interior and trunk.

    disadvantages A: Probably age.
