With the second car, Eugene was more fortunate - it was the original GTi, which was sold by an elderly couple.

“I understood that there could be a big difference between what is in the photos and what is in real life, so imagine my surprise when a well-maintained Golf GTi stood in front of me. The condition was as close as possible to the native, and his wife was selling it. The owner was in his 60s. His wife is a teacher in English, said that the car began to break down more often, and it’s hard for them, the old people, to go to the service station. According to the documents, the car has been in their hands since 1996.


During the inspection, it turned out that the bottom was in perfect condition, they noticed a slight blow from the front, rust accumulated near the towbar. The wing lining was welded in, the front passenger door was changed. But, surprisingly, when I was already removing the trim in the garage, I saw that the rear wing was all in black ground. For a whole month I was preparing the car for painting: I cleaned it with an eccentric sander, straightened all the dents, brought out the planes with a meter block.

Initially, Eugene wanted to repaint the car in the color "chameleon" from black to red, but the idea turned out to be too expensive. A can of paint cost $ 150, and the car needed 2-3. Considering the upcoming costs, this was a serious budget overrun.

- When I realized that the “chameleon” would not pull, and the soul wanted something unusual, I bought a special Candy powder “red apple”. First, the body was painted in a black base, then the purchased powder was mixed with the binder, after which, to be sure, I applied four layers of sikkens varnish. In the end, I think it turned out a little defiant, but my friends liked it.

— Of course, low ground clearance causes a lot of inconvenience, especially when traveling to Odessa, then I even had to raise the car a few turns. In Minsk, minor difficulties with the passage of speed bumps also happen. But this did not affect my decision to return the car to its original form. Over time, the low suspension began to seem like a foreign element on the Golf. Therefore, the plans to abandon it.

- I remember, looking through the ads, out of the corner of my eye I caught on the beaten life of the second Golf, which was sold by a resident of Chashnikov.
