Of the malfunctions of the 2.4-liter unit, we note the loss of tightness of the front crankshaft oil seal. Any other typical problems in Mitsubishi units Outlander XL has not been identified during operation.

The timing of the 3.0-liter engine is equipped with a belt that must be changed along with the rollers every 80 thousand km. All other engines use a durable metal chain that lasts the entire life of the unit. Peculiarity fuel system, which increases the cost of servicing all engines, is that the fine fuel filter is made together with a submersible flask, so it is not cheap (the original spare part will cost 1700 UAH). According to factory recommendations, the filter should be changed every 60 thousand km. "Pompa" will last about 150 thousand km.

The interval for changing the lubricant in the variator is every 80 thousand km.

The main difference between the all-wheel drive transmission of this car is the ability to operate only on front wheel drive(for the predecessor, all-wheel drive was always connected automatically when the front wheels slipped). The Outlander XL has three modes: 2WD (only front-wheel drive), 4WD (full is automatically connected using an interaxle electromagnetic clutch capable of changing the distribution of torque along the axes from 85:15 to 40:60 depending on the adhesion of the wheels to the road) and Lock (coupling is rigidly locked). By the way, the cheapest 2.0-liter versions with manual gearboxes are mono-drive, although such cars are very rare. In the rear "multi-link" the least (about 100 thousand km) are the lower silent blocks of the transverse levers. The "elastic bands" of the remaining levers "hold" 150-200 thousand km. During operation, it is necessary to check and adjust the installation angles of not only the front, but also rear wheels. Otherwise, after 60 thousand km, the bolts of the eccentric bushings of the rear breakup levers “boil”, as a result of which, if adjustment is necessary, they have to be cut off with a “grinder” and new levers installed. According to operating experience, the front shock absorbers serve less than the rear ones, and most often the front left one becomes unusable by 100 thousand km.

Reechnoe steering Outlander XL is equipped with hydraulic booster. Weakness this unit - hoses, which after 100 thousand km sometimes begin to "sweat" at the junction of rubber parts and aluminum tips. Not for long (60-70 thousand km) steering tips serve on our roads, but the traction can withstand about 150 thousand km.

The brake system of the Outlander XL needs to be serviced regularly: lubricate the guides of the calipers at each maintenance, otherwise they can jam, which causes uneven wear pads.
