What does a Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback look like? Five things people love and hate about Chevrolet Lacetti

The Chevrolet Lacetti five-door hatchback made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2004, and in 2009 model range company, it was replaced by the global Cruz. But even then the car did not retire, holding out on the assembly line until 2013. "Lacetti" was also presented at Russian market, where throughout life cycle was in constant demand.

The Koreans once made a very harmonious car. Not even Koreans, but Italians - after all, they worked on the design of the Lacetti hatchback in the ItalDesign studio located in Turin. The five-door looks very dynamic, but not outrageous. In any case, she does not collect surprised looks, and in the stream she practically does not catch the eye.

The front of the Lacetti looks quite calm due to the almond-shaped headlights, but immediately the car “shoots” with aggressive rear lights, beautiful multi-spoke wheels with a diameter of 15 inches (available versions have 14-inch “stamps”), as well as tilted forward rear pillars body. In expensive trim levels, the appearance is also emphasized by an elegant roof spoiler.

The length of the "golf" hatchback is 4295 mm, height - 1445 mm, width - 1725 mm. The wheelbase of the hatchback Chevrolet Lacetti "fully complies with the canons of the class - 2600 mm, and ground clearance also - 162 mm. In running order, the car weighs from 1170 to 1210 kg (it all depends on the engine and transmission type).

The interior of the five-door Chevrolet Lacetti to match appearance- it is dominated by smooth and smoothed lines, which speaks of its sports and youth orientation. Informative and well read dashboard, a well-arranged center console with logically located controls and generally high ergonomics made the hatchback a popular representative of its segment.

Regardless of the version, a standard CD-receiver is installed in the car, but the climate control unit can be represented by either three “twists” of the air conditioner, or a full-fledged climate control with a small display (monochrome).

In the interior of the five-door Lacetti, aluminum inserts are widely used, which dilute inexpensive, but rather pleasant plastic. The steering “steering wheel” and the gearshift lever are dressed in leather, and in the top trim levels there are also seats. All parts are precisely adjusted to each other, which indicates the quality level of the assembly.

The front seats of the hatchback are comfortable, but set up for a relaxed driving style due to the lack of lateral support, but the adjustment ranges are wide (there is even a height adjustment). The rear sofa is designed for two people, but there is enough space for three passengers, as evidenced by the corresponding number of head restraints.

By the standards of the C-class, the luggage compartment of Chevrolet hatchback Lacetti is modest - only 275 liters of usable volume, but it can be increased to 1045 liters by leveling the rear seat with the floor. "Hold" has convenient shape, the loading area is absolutely flat, the opening is moderate.

Specifications. Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback was equipped with three gasoline engines, each of which was combined with a 5-speed "mechanics", and the two most powerful units also with a 4-speed "automatic".
The younger motor with a working volume of 1.4 liters generates power 95 Horse power(131 Nm of torque) and provides the car with acceptable dynamics. So it takes him 11.6 seconds to conquer the mark of 100 km / h, and the speed increase will stop when it reaches 175 km / h.
The 1.6-liter engine plays the role of an intermediate one - its return has 109 forces and 150 Nm of ultimate thrust. If it is paired with “mechanics”, then the car picks up the first 100 km / h in 10.7 seconds and accelerates to 187 km / h, and if with an “automatic” - in 11.5 seconds and 175 km / h, respectively.
The top is a 1.8-liter "four" with a return of 121 forces (169 Nm of torque). Acceleration from standstill to the first hundred in a powerful hatchback takes 9.8-10.9 seconds, and the "maximum speed" is limited to 187-195 km/h.

A car with a 1.4-liter engine is content with 7.2 liters of gasoline per 100 km in combined mode, but a more productive unit requires 0.1 liters of fuel less in the case of a manual gearbox and 0.9 liters more in conjunction with an automatic transmission. The most powerful "Lacetti" consumes from 7.4 to 8.8 liters of fuel, depending on the gearbox (in favor of the "mechanics").

At the heart of the Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback is a "trolley" called the J200. The C-class model is equipped with a fully independent undercarriage. On the front axle, the suspension is represented by MacPherson struts, and on the rear axle - by a multi-link design (in both cases there are anti-roll bars). Brake system with disc mechanisms and ABS is responsible for slowing down the car.

Complete set and prices. On the secondary market Russian Chevrolet Lacetti in a five-door solution is available at prices ranging from 250,000 to 450,000 rubles (price at the beginning of 2015, strongly depends on the level of equipment and the installed engine-transmission link). But even the simplest hatchback cannot be called “empty” - there is air conditioning, four electric windows, airbags (for driver and passenger), ABS, radio, PTF and heated exterior mirrors with electric drive.

Chevrolet Lacetti is a middle-class car (class C according to the European classification). Production was carried out from 2003 to 2013 at the plants of the GM Daewoo concern in South Korea, Russia and Uzbekistan. The design of the car was developed by the Italian studio Pininfarina. The model replaced the Daewoo Nubira.

The presentation of the Chevrolet Lacetti, also known in other markets as Daewoo Lacetti, Buick Excelle/HRV, Chevrolet Nubira, Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet SRV, Holden Viva, Vauxhall Viva, Suzuki Forenza and Suzuki Reno, took place in the summer of 2003. In Russia, the car was offered in a full set of bodies: 4-door sedan, 5-door hatchback and station wagon. In 2008, a second Chevrolet generation Lacetti, which was called Lacetti Premiere, but in the markets of most countries is available under the name Chevrolet Cruze.

For Chevrolet hatchback Lacetti was provided with two trim levels: SE and SX. AT standard equipment SE trim levels include air conditioning, power steering, a height-adjustable driver's seat, and a CD radio. In addition to the SX package: climate control system, side airbags for front passengers, fog lights, a case for the driver's glasses, located on the ceiling panel above the door. The minimum volume of the hatchback trunk is 275 and 1045 liters (with the second row of seats folded down), but thanks to the presence of the fifth door, loading is more convenient here.

The Lacetti engine range includes modifications with engines of 1.4 liters and 1.6 liters in combination with a mechanical or automatic transmission gears. If we talk about power, then even the most modest 95-horsepower 1.4-liter engine will allow the owner of a Lacetti sedan or hatchback to feel quite confident not only in the city, but also on the highway. With a planned heavy load or in long trips, of course, the 1.6 engine would be more preferable - an additional 14 hp. will not seem redundant here.

The front suspension of the Lacetti hatchback is independent, McPherson type (telescopic strut and steering knuckle). The rear one distinguishes the car from most representatives of the class with its more complex design - completely independent, double-lever, includes a shock absorber strut, trailing arm, double wishbone, transverse stabilizer, coil spring, telescopic shock absorber. Plus, the car characterizes the "collected" behavior on the road with active driving. At the same time Lacetti Russian assembly adapted to domestic operating conditions: ground clearance increased to 165 mm, reinforced suspension elements, standard anti-gravel treatment.

All hatchback modifications are standardly equipped with two airbags, front and rear disc brakes (front ventilated), anti-lock brakes, belt tensioners, ISOFIX mounts. More expensive equipment may include side airbags. The actual safety of the Chevrolet Lacetti can be judged from the crash tests of the Holden Viva (hatchback) and Suzuki Forenza (sedan) twins conducted in 2005 and 2007 in Australia (ANCAP) and the USA (IIHS), where the cars showed good results.

Chevrolet Lacetti captivates with a good list basic equipment, comfortable interior and good-quality interior materials, and its dynamic character, designed, among other things, for an active driving style (except for the 1.4 engine). Disc "in a circle" brakes, hardy suspension, the ability to choose the type of body - unconditional pluses. Popular ratings highly appreciate the model. Of course, it also cannot do without minuses, and, perhaps, the suspension will seem harsh to someone, sometimes there are complaints about thin metal and the durability of the paintwork. On the other hand, affordable prices have always distinguished this car, which contributes to its strong position in the secondary market.

Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback is a golf-class car, according to the European classification it belongs to the "C" segment. Unlike the sedan and station wagon, the exterior of which was developed at the Pininfarina auto studio, the specialists of the Italian coachbuilding studio Giorgetto Giugiaro worked on the design of the 5-door hatchback. AT mass production Chevrolet Lacetti hatchback arrived in 2004.

Behind the large, strongly inclined rear pillars, a neat spoiler is hung. The upper surface of the headlights is covered with rubber seals that do not let in engine compartment dust and dirt. We listen to the wishes of our readers and tell why they love and hate one of the cars, which can be called well-deserved. Chevrolet Lacetti deserved both love and hate, but the first, after all, is somewhat more.

It is difficult to remember at least one other car that has come such a long way in the Russian market and has so little tarnished its reputation. It's no joke, in Russia "lacetos" began to be sold in 2004, a couple of years after the world premiere.

Imagine, before the appearance of the VAZ Grants, which by now has also managed to live a whole life and get its reputation, there were about seven years left ...

The model is still alive today - in 2013, Uzbekistan organized the export of sedans to Russia, first under the Daewoo brand, and after 2015 as the Ravon Gentra - however, with a hatch face, a 1.5-liter engine developed in Korea and an optional 6-speed automatic as an alternative to the 5-speed manual. The “original” Lacetti had a 4-speed automatic transmission, but as many as three engines were offered - 1.4 (95 hp), 1.6 (109 hp) and 1.8 (122 hp) . Despite these differences, in fact the car remained the same, so we say "Lacetti" - we mean Ravon. But we will definitely dwell on the characteristic features of Ravon in the finale of our story.

HATE #5: POOR NOISE ISOLATION

Owners of many cheap cars complain about sound insulation, but in the case of the Lacetti, speaking objectively, it really needs to be improved - the engine is clearly audible in the cabin starting from 3,000 rpm, and the rumble through the wheel arches manifests itself even earlier. In front, it is muffled by engine noise and is not fixed by everyone, but rear passengers notice it quite often.

LOVE #5: TIMELESS DESIGN

As you know, the design of the front of the car for sedans and hatchbacks (by the way, there were also station wagons in our market) is different, and the “eternity” of the design refers to a two-volume model to a slightly greater extent: it’s just a hatch with calm and harmonious body lines, without any or fancy elements. Say it's boring? But those who buy this car still say that it is beautiful! And in this price niche, such praise is worth a lot.

HATE #4: WEAK ACCELERATING DYNAMICS

Scolding or praising the car, the dynamics are usually linked to fuel consumption - they say, it doesn’t drive, but it eats (it happens and vice versa) - and some Lacetti owners often describe the performance of their cars in just such terms. However, it cannot be reproached for some outstanding voracity: “according to the passport” in the urban cycle, it turns out 9.3 (engine 1.4), 9.1 (1.6) and 9.8 (1.8) liters per 100 km (yes, the 1.6-liter engine is the most economical) for versions with mechanics. For versions of 1.6 liters with automatic transmission, the real city consumption is 12-14 l / 100 km, but these are normal figures for old 4-band automatics, it’s a sin to complain. But the dynamics in the region of 11.6-10.7 seconds to “hundreds” is something that the owner of Lacetti will always miss a little, no matter how much you make discounts for “budget”. Only versions 1.8 more or less drive (9.5 seconds), but there are not so many such cars in Russia. And two-liter cars were not officially delivered to us at all.

LOVE #4: “ADVANCED” REAR SUSPENSION AND BRAKE SOLUTIONS

Independent rear suspension and rear disc brakes - none of the current cars in this price segment can boast of such (except for station wagons LADA Vesta brake drums will be replaced with discs), and this is not accidental: the operational advantages of such solutions, to put it mildly, are not obvious. But the status of the car, which, as it were, aims at the expense of these "chips" in a higher class, in the eyes of the Russian motorist, certainly adds.

HATE #3: SMALL UNDERCARRIAGE LIFE

Meanwhile, the properties of the Chevrolet Lacetti suspension are the subject of heated debate. Does the rear linkage make the car more fun to drive? But a semi-dependent beam would be much more reliable, easier and cheaper to maintain. Rigid and elastic front suspension does not break through and allows you to more accurately maneuver? But at speed, it still allows for fair rolls, and not everyone likes the rigidity itself. Be that as it may, “killing” some components of the chassis on the Lacetti is quite simple, especially for drivers who are not too careful. Most often, shock absorber struts and stabilizer struts fall under premature replacement. However, both "diseases" are inherent in a huge number of other cars that are lucky to drive on Russian asphalt.

LOVE #3: GREAT SALON

A lot of owners of this car are transplanted to it from domestic products, and first of all with LADA Priora, Granta and Kalina. Compared to these cars, the Lacetti really spacious salon, and this is especially felt by the passengers in the back row. The case when a couple of extra centimeters can give completely new sensations.

HATE #2: LOW ROAD CLEARANCE

Pictured: Chevrolet Lacetti Hatchback CDX ‘2004–13

Cars with a clearance in the region of 140 mm feel uncomfortable in Russia - remember how many complaints there were about the previous Ford Focus, as a result of which the ground clearance on late cars was nevertheless increased. The Lacetti still has a clearance of 145 mm, which, combined with a rather impressive front overhang, creates a problem for the owners and makes them scribble angry reviews on the Internet. Whatever you say, but on Duster or Niva on Russian roads you feel much more comfortable. By the way, the Ravon Gentra sedan, the current incarnation of the Lacetti, has maintained its ground clearance at the same value.

LOVE #2: CHEAP CONSUMABLES

Another comparison of our today's well-deserved "old man" with Lada cannot be avoided, and if, according to the previous paragraph domestic brand wins Chevrolet by one gate, then the Lacetti takes revenge on the cost of spare parts. In the sense that most of the components cost exactly the same money (plus or minus hundreds of rubles) as in Lada. Thus, the Lacetti is the perfect dream of a huge number of domestic motorists: a real foreign car, and in the service staff - like a VAZ.

HATE #1: OIL LEAKING FROM UNDER THE VALVE COVER

Literally every Lacetti owner who has looked under the hood of his car at least once has seen this: oil smudges from under the valve covers. Even a GM branded gasket can sometimes leak, and a solid one, letting oil "paths" to the candle wells. The disease is chronic and manifests itself at different times: sometimes the cover “sweats” for 20,000 kilometers, and sometimes for 2,000 ... But sometimes leaks become noticeable only in the region of 120,000 km and at the same time are the only cause for concern for the Lacetti owner.

LOVE #1: HIGH RELIABILITY

And those owners who know how not to jump on the potholes spend their life together with the Lacetti in almost complete calm. The car pleases warm stove, comfortable seat, good handling (whatever you say) and most importantly - high engine life (based on Opel licenses) and reliability of chassis components (again, whatever you say). The design is verified to the smallest detail, which made it so tenacious.

***

In addition to the above complaints (in fact, it’s impossible to call them reasons for hatred, it’s just the format) the owners sometimes complain about the “soft” body metal, the gluttony of the “automatic” versions, the long strokes of the mechanics lever, fogging of the windows, the uncomfortable climate unit, “too modest » interior… Have you already read this somewhere, right? That's right, in the reviews Lada cars. For a rare "state employee", the list of complaints boils down to the fact that the car is simply too budgetary, isn't it?

Very often you have to read something like “it’s a pity that they don’t make them anymore”, and the alternative in the form of Ravon Gentra is not suitable for everyone: for some, the hatchback seems to be more practical and harmonious in appearance, but it’s just not in the Ravon range , sedan only. Its pros and cons remained the same as those of the Lacetti, only now the paintwork of the bumpers of some cars begins to peel off almost at the first thousand kilometers.

But this happened with the "real" Lacetti, but otherwise ... It's good that there is Ravon Gentra - someone will find this version of the "state employee" optimal. And he will be right in many respects.

It is false to recall at least one other car that has come such a long way in the Russian market and has so little tarnished its reputation. It's no joke, in Russia "lacetos" began to be sold in 2004, a couple of years after the world premiere.

Hate #4: Weak Acceleration

Scolding or praising the car, the dynamics are usually linked to fuel consumption - they say, it doesn’t drive, but it eats (it happens and vice versa) - and some Lacetti owners often describe the performance of their cars in just such terms. However, it cannot be reproached for some outstanding voracity: “according to the passport” in the urban cycle, it turns out 9.3 (engine 1.4), 9.1 (1.6) and 9.8 (1.8) liters per 100 km (yes, the 1.6-liter engine is the most economical) for versions with mechanics.
