Specifications of Kia Optima. Kia Optima clearance, real ground clearance of Kia Optima Real Optima clearance figures

New Kia Optima 2016 model year by the time of the European premiere in Frankfurt this autumn, it had already been shown at the spring motor show in the USA. Photo Kia Optima in the new body do not create the impression of major changes. If you look at the sedan from the side, you might think that nothing has changed at all. However, it is not.

Appearance of the new Optima seriously changed enough to look at the optics, bumpers, foglights. Among other things, there was a charged KIA version Optima GT with other more aggressive bumpers, larger rims and upgraded suspension. Korean engineers tailored the power structure of the body in a new way, now the sedan has become more rigid and resistant to torsional overloads.

Dimensions Kia Optima increased slightly, although an increase in body length of 1 centimeter, and in width of 2.5 centimeters is unlikely to be noticeable. But an increase in the wheelbase to 2805 mm allows us to talk about an increase in the interior space of the business sedan, which is always good for passengers. Further we offer photos of Optima 2016 model year. You can appreciate all the changes in the exterior with your own eyes.

Salon Optima 2016 has undergone a significant change. A new three-spoke steering wheel appeared, the center console underwent a major restructuring. Naturally, the central place is occupied by a large touch screen monitor. The rows of climate control buttons and knobs are very reminiscent of the interior of the new Kia Sportage, which we already wrote about. In addition to the use of better finishing materials, the design of the cabin feels not at all Korean austerity. Apparently German designers have worked here as well. Photos of the salon Optima new generation below.

Trunk Kia Optima became more. According to the manufacturer, now the luggage compartment holds 510 liters of volume. Growth by 5 liters is not big, but still nice. Rear seats with backrests that fold in a ratio of 60 to 40 allow you to carry quite long things without any problems.

Judging by the prices, the segment leader on Russian market Toyota Camry has received a rather serious opponent in the face of Kia Optima.

(2016-2017), along with a number of other Kia-Hyundai models, is assembled at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad. The updated four-door seriously added body rigidity, increasing the proportion of high-strength steels from 20 to 51 percent. Along with this, the engine range of the car was revised, which in the new specification includes three gasoline engines.

The role of the base power plant assigned to the well-known 2.0 MPI unit with a capacity of 150 hp. (196 Nm). The Nu series engine with multiport fuel injection is combined with either a 6-speed mechanical box, or with a 6-speed "automatic". The first tandem accelerates the car faster (acceleration to 100 km / h - 9.6 seconds) and saves fuel a little better (average consumption - 7.7 liters).

Second in range Kia engines Optima is listed as a "four" 2.4 GDI with an aluminum block, direct injection and an intake phase change system. The return of the unit is 188 hp, torque - 241 Nm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

At the top of the engine line is the 2.0 T-GDI turbo unit of the Theta II series, which is registered under the hood of the most powerful car modification - the Kia Optima GT. Peak output 245 hp and a maximum torque of 350 Nm, maintained in the range of 1400-4000 rpm, allow the sports version of the sedan to sprint to “hundreds” in 7.6 seconds. Similar dynamics is also provided by a 6-speed automatic transmission, which differs from automatic transmissions designed for "aspirated" 2.0 and 2.4 liters. In this case, a box with a factory index A6LF2 is used, which better digests large traction.

Front Kia suspension Optima type MacPherson mount on a subframe, rear - independent on the levers with anti-roll bar. The steering is equipped with an electric power steering, which is mounted on the rail for the GT version (for other modifications, it is installed on the steering column).

Kia ground clearance Optima is one of the characteristics that buyers of this car are often interested in. And no wonder ground clearance largely determines the capabilities of the car. On country, bad, snowy roads, when passing obstacles and avoiding them on the side of the road, a tall car has the advantage of better cross-country ability and protection from damage. On smooth roads, on the contrary, low ground clearance is needed, it makes the center of gravity lower, which increases the stability and controllability of the car. The ride height of the Kia depends mainly on design features, incorporated during the design, but it can be changed independently using suspension tuning parts, rubber with a higher or lower profile, spacers and other elements.

Real clearance figures for Optima

Optima belongs to the D-class sedans and its clearance is quite comparable with the models of this class. Data on the ground clearance of the Kia Optima varies even among dealers. Some claim a figure of 145 mm, while others indicate 155 mm in the documentation. In some sources, you can find a figure of 160 mm. So what is the reason for such discrepancies and what is the clearance of the Kia Optima in reality? To answer this question especially for the readers of the site, the author of this article was not too lazy to stock up on a tape measure and go to the nearest Kia dealer to conduct an experiment. When measuring the clearance of the Optima on 17 wheels (there were no others available), the ground clearance in the lowest places turned out to be approximately 155 mm. The same one was listed in the technical specifications section on the dealer's website. Where do the figures of 145 and 160 cm come from? The fact is that the height of the clearance depends on the height of the tires used. In addition to 17-inch wheels on the Kia Optima, 16 or 18 wheels are often installed. This gives a small difference in ground clearance.

Ground clearance of 155 mm can be called quite good for a sedan in this class, although this is unlikely to play a serious role in its cross-country ability. Due to the rather long base, Optima is afraid of high bumps and speed bumps. Curb rides are also not her forte, and large objects should not be passed between the wheels either. But in return for all this, the car offers excellent handling, stability on the road and the absence of rolls in corners.

Owner reviews

Great car! The car is 1.5 months old. Cute appearance, pleasant management. Even with a 2.0 liter engine, excellent dynamics. Good noise isolation at high speed. Very light steering wheel, cruise control in the simplest configuration, spacious salon especially at the back.

With my height (190 cm) it is comfortable on any of the seats and there is even a margin of adjustment behind the wheel! The truth is, I can't get used to it. large sizes auto (previous car was lower class). Gasoline consumption is about 7 liters per 100 km on the highway, about 11 liters per 100 km in the city.

Of the shortcomings, I note a small opening in the trunk and large loops. Ground clearance is 155 mm, but it seems to me that it is less. Very soft rear springs - there are two people on the seat, and the rear suspension drawdown is as if there were 500 kg of cargo in the trunk!

Vladimir, drives a Kia Optima 2.4 (150 hp) 2016

Has gained this car after the AUDI Q7 2007, which had an expensive repair. In addition, a car was needed mainly for the track. Of course, Audi rides better, but they are completely different cars.

Six months have passed since the purchase of the Kia Optima GT, we can draw the first conclusions. Rolled carefully. After 10,000 km, the car really became a very decent speaker. From a place it starts not like a hurricane (unpleasantly surprised), but from a speed of 30 km / h it is very brisk, from 50 km / h - with a slip. There are simply no problems with overtaking on the track, the dynamics are very decent at any speed. Definitely not enough all-wheel drive!

Automatic 6-speed, works perfectly. Consumption on the highway on a cruise at a speed of ~ 105 km / h - 6 liters. In the city, 11-12 liters, but with very active driving, you can bring it up to 16. There was a small, fast-moving “triple” of the engine during warm-up, I’ll pay attention to maintenance. Gasoline only 95 from a proven gas station. Doesn't eat oil.

The suspension is very comfortable, really adapts to pavement. On the primer rides like asphalt. A couple of times on the track, getting into deep and “sharp” pits, the suspension worked on breakdown, which was not very pleasant, but the pits were really big.

Strains a little not "sharp" steering, which practically does not change even depending on the inclusion of the "sport" mode, which cannot be said from the sensations in the dynamics of the car, which differs radically from the "eco" mode. The car does not feel the track.

Lateral seat support is designed, perhaps, only for a very voluminous driver and passenger. Lots of space in the car. The trunk is huge. Behind three passengers are placed very comfortably. Shumka is good, the insulation of the wheel arches fails. The music is great. The climate works great. The main beam is excellent, but the dipped beam, even after additional adjustment (raised a little up), suits only a four.

The owner drives a KIA Optima GT 2.0 (245 hp) 2016.

Car impressions. Everyone says about the 2.0 engine (150 hp) it doesn’t drive, it doesn’t overtake trucks. Well, I don't know, but I'm on my way. Of course, not a fighter, but enough for me. I am a family man, I have children, there is no hurry.

Consumption on the highway in sport mode at a speed of 130-140 km / h is approximately 7.5-9 liters of 95 gasoline, in the city in a calm manner 10-11 liters, in sport mode in the city with air conditioning - 15 liters, without air conditioning - 12-13 l. I have never ridden in eco-mode, they say the consumption will be even lower.

The automatic transmission does not kick in normal mode, you don’t even feel it when it switches, but in sport mode it kicks a little (from second to third). Many write that the box itself adapts to the driving style, so if you drive dynamically (aggressively) all the time in sport mode, then it does not kick.

The suspension is normal on 17-inch wheels, it swallows small and medium bumps, but it is harsh for deep bumps. Handling is good, you don’t feel the speed, but sometimes it recognizes the track under the wheels. Shumka is not bad, but there is noise from the arches. Interior comfort at "five".

What I didn’t like about Optima was the slippery steering wheel, covered with very smooth leather (maybe leatherette). I don't know if it will last long. Also, the car has too wide sills, and the children get their pants dirty all the time.

What I lack in it is a circular view (although there are more expensive trim levels). The car is big, and the hood is wide, so I won’t get used to the dimensions when I drive into the garage.

Video review

I won't comment on the appearance. In my opinion, it looks solid with a touch of sportiness, but nothing more.

The interior is where it gets interesting. It reminds me of the interiors of German cars, especially Audi five or seven years ago. The console is turned towards the driver. All buttons are at hand. The quality of the materials is on par with the competition and certainly head and shoulders above anything I've ridden in the past.

The trunk is huge. In the underground there is a full-size spare wheel on an alloy wheel, but there are no additional niches and compartments, although on the same Rio there were convenient compartments for storing small items. In general, in terms of arranging the trunk, for some reason, the Koreans do not look at the same Germans who have a bunch of mesh hooks and other things in the trunk.

Engine and box. The fundamental point when transferring from Rio to new car was that the dynamics of the new car should be better, or the same as in Rio. Rio in manual transmission was very brisk for a cheap car, about 10 seconds to 100 km / h. Accordingly, I didn’t even look at the 2.0-liter Optima, since the power reserve for overtaking on the highway was important for me.

In principle, I did not expect anything supernatural from the 2.4 engine, given the huge mass of the car (1.7 tons, which is 200 kg heavier than the same "six"). In fact, it turned out that Optima is a little more dynamic than Rio. According to the passport, Optima is faster by 1.0 seconds, but this is somehow not felt on the go, perhaps due to much better sound insulation and dimensions.

Suspension. Here is just a breakthrough for the Koreans. I think it's no secret to anyone that the suspension is weak point all Korean cars, not in terms of reliability, but in terms of customization. In the review of Rio, I wrote in detail about this. Optima in this regard is a breakthrough for Korean cars: the suspension is energy-intensive, at the same time it does not sway. Smooth running at a very good level

The owner drives a Kia Optima 2.4 (188 HP) AT 2016.

Where could I buy?

About the salon: there are really a lot of places! For example, in the 2012 Accord, I couldn’t sit down by myself (height 182 cm), and here even my knees don’t reach front seat. The seats are very comfortable, the lower part is long (unlike the Japanese), and there part of the leg always “hangs” in the air.

About the engine: The engine is the #1 reason to buy this car. Under the hood is a 245-horsepower engine, which, with the economy of a conventional four-cylinder, rides no worse, and somewhere even better than six-cylinder ones. I will say in advance that I will not judge the resource, time will tell.

Consumption now does not rise above 10 liters per hundred. While I'm still rolling. Even if you drive actively, I don’t think it will be more than on the Accord, but the car drives in a completely different way.

The automatic machine works slowly, it switches slowly, it seems to me, but with such an engine you don’t notice this, since it pulls from any speed, nullifying the errors of the automatic machine.

The suspension is similar to the chord one, due to the 18-inch wheels it is harsh. With a car that had 16-inch wheels, a huge difference, but you have to pay for beauty with comfort!

Review of Kia Optima GT 2.4 (245 hp) on the machine in 2016

One of the most successful models Kia Optima survived the update in 2016, and we are not talking about another restyling, but about a generational change. Although you can’t tell from the outside, since the fourth-generation sedan at first glance is practically no different from its predecessor. When you look at the photos of the fourth Optima, you involuntarily wonder: well, why was it necessary to spend a lot of resources to cook the old, not yet forgotten, only with a new sauce? However, upon closer examination, you understand that this is still a really modernized model, the improvements of which are fully justified. Read about what it is in our review!

Design

Changes to the exterior of the Optima are minimal. Many details, proportions and silhouette have been preserved, but in rear pillars windows were cut through, and the parting lines of the cargo compartment door and hood were also changed. The originality of the four-door is emphasized by embossed sidewalls, narrow headlights and taillights, graceful door handles and a narrowed branded grille in the style of a “tiger smile” (or rather, it would be called a “smirk”), and fairly large exterior mirrors provide good visibility. During the modernization, the length, height and wheelbase of the car have increased by 10 mm, and the width has increased by 30 mm, which cannot be seen in the photo, but can be felt in the cabin - it has definitely become a little more spacious than before.

By the way, the trunk of the novelty, like the previous version, is roomy - it holds 510 liters. put at least. Cover hinges luggage compartment now packaged in plastic. If we talk about the design in general, then the Optima 2016 has a very stylish and modern one - it’s not a shame to go to a fashion party with friends on such a car, especially since you don’t immediately recognize the “Asian” in it, except perhaps by nameplates. In the city, a Korean sedan is always appropriate and looks like its own, demonstrating quite urban habits.

Design

The platform of the fourth Optima is borrowed from the previous generation model and modified to improve handling. The MacPherson front suspension subframe is now attached to the body not through 2, but through 4 bushings, the rear trailing arms have slightly increased in length (as a result, the distance between the axles of the wheels has increased by 10 mm - up to 2.805 m), and their silent blocks have become more rigid. The attachment points of the subframes to the body were placed wider, the front hub bearings were strengthened, and alloy wheels the wheels were made stiffer by as much as 83%.

Adaptation to Russian conditions

In order to improve the position of Optima in the Russian market, not only was the suspension improved, but the ground clearance was also increased from 135 to 155 mm - thanks to the high ground clearance, the sedan became more confident to overcome various obstacles on the roads. In addition, the four-door received a rich "winter" package of options - it includes windshield heating in the wiper rest zone, all seats, side mirrors and steering wheel without exception. Kia also worked on sound insulation: the level of noise and vibration was reduced by a couple of percent due to new window seals and more efficient insulation under the floor and behind the dashboard.

Comfort

The interior of the new generation model is slightly more spacious than its predecessor, which is mainly due to the increase in dimensions. This is especially noticeable on the second row seats, where there is more legroom and headroom. knees rear passengers it will be convenient, even if you move the front seats all the way back. Glass in rear doors do not go down completely, manually pulled curtains rely only on the top trim levels GT Line and GT. In addition, air ducts, a 12-volt outlet and a USB charging port are provided at the back. mobile devices. At the front, wireless smartphone charging is possible on a special platform in the center console (prestige, GT Line and GT versions).

The first row seats have a rigid frame, too wide-set side support rollers, leather upholstery that is pleasant to the touch, as well as heating and ventilation functions. The driver's seat has a wide range of longitudinal adjustment, and the front passenger seat has electric control buttons on the side, thanks to which the person sitting in the back can, if necessary, move the empty seat away and thereby free up legroom. The quality of the seating and the interior as a whole does not raise questions. The center console is turned towards the driver and attracts attention with climate control units and media systems, made in the style of BMW. The selected temperature mode is displayed on the central display - you do not need to look for it next to the "climate" regulators. Next to the gearshift lever are buttons for heating the steering wheel, selecting driving modes (Sport and Normal) and a circular video review. The steering wheel on the Optima is excellent - with leather braid, manual shift paddles (on all 2-pedal models) and a rim truncated at the bottom (in GT Line and GT versions). The instrument cluster - no frills, but quite informative. In the center dashboard"registered" information display with a diagonal of 3.5 to 4.3 inches, depending on the configuration.

In terms of safety, the Optima 2016 outperforms many of its competitors, since already in the "base" it is equipped with front and side airbags, as well as various "smart assistants", including:

In the initial configuration, the sedan is equipped with a simple CD / MP3 audio system with six speakers, Bluetooth and AUX / USB connectors. The ten-speaker Harman/Kardon audio center (including a subwoofer with external amplifier) went to the most expensive versions. Starting with the Luxe version, a multimedia system with TomTom navigation, display of traffic jams and fixation cameras, a large touch screen and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto technologies is installed on the car. The touchscreen displays images from all-round cameras.

Kia Optima Specifications

In our country new Optima generation is sold with three 4-cylinder 16-valve gasoline engines. Its engine range includes a two-liter 150-horsepower MPI unit with multiport injection, a 2.4-liter 188-horsepower GDI engine of the Theta-II family with direct injection, as well as a two-liter "turbo-four" T-GDI (Theta-II) with recoil at 245 hp and direct injection. The first motor is paired with a six-speed “mechanics” or with an automatic transmission with the same number of steps, while the rest are combined exclusively with a 6-speed automatic transmission. All engines meet the Euro-5 eco-standard, have nothing against 92-octane gasoline and “according to the passport” consume an average of about 8 liters. fuel per 100 kilometers.
