Comparative test Nissan Patrol, Toyota Land Cruiser - "Battle of the Titans". Comparison of Nissan Patrol and Toyota Land Cruiser What is better Kruzak 200 or Nissan Patrol

It may seem that SUVs Nissan Patrol and Toyota Cruiser are identical to each other. This is not true. Each crossover has its own characteristics. Let's figure out which is better, Patrol or Kruzak.

Features Nissan Patrol

The Japanese Patrol belongs to the sixth generation of Nissan SUVs. In Japanese domestic market it is produced under the name "Safari". For the first time, the public saw the car in 2010 at the international automobile exhibition in the UAE. External design and functionality immediately appealed to the public. After that, the crossover began to spread around the world.

The car attracts attention with its power, high ground clearance, which allows you to overcome difficult sections of the road. Good cross-country ability is complemented by comfortable driving.

Nissan Patrol was created in order to become an alternative to the popular Toyota models Land cruiser 200. The changes affected the ground clearance, wheelbase. The appearance has also changed - the overall dimensions have become larger, but fuel consumption is less than that of the LC. It is related to the volume fuel tank.

What makes Toyota different

Toyota Land Cruiser is not inferior to its competitor. The country of origin is Japan, which indicates the quality of the car. The famous Toyota 200 was released in 2007. Release expected in 2020 new Toyota Land Cruiser 300 series with an improved exterior and technical part.

LC belongs to the category of SUVs that overcome any obstacles. Engine displacement surpasses the Nissan Patrol (5663 cc), but is inferior in power and maximum torque. The volume of the fuel tank is smaller, but the trunk has become larger. The dimensions of the SUV have decreased.

The interior features seats and controls, but some monitors and other convenience details are missing.

Cross-country ability of SUVs

Crossovers must have good cross-country ability to overcome obstacles. Nissan Patrol and Toyota Land Cruiser cope with uneven road surface, sand. They automatically adjust to changes in surface coverage on which they drive. We should not forget about the differences in the technical component.

The Patrol crossover is more powerful power unit, more ride height, maximum torque and engine power. The increased wheelbase helps to overcome obstacles more easily. The car requires more fuel, which can cause some problems along the way.

Both cars can not cope with viscous mud and soil, they can get stuck.

Toyota is inferior to Nissan, but this does not prevent it from passing difficult obstacles.

Interior Features

The interior of the car is responsible for the comfort of the driver and passengers. This is important when long journeys on an SUV. Crossovers are often used for trips to nature and other cities. They have spacious salon, which accommodates passengers and things, but at TLC it is more compact. Both cars are designed for 8 seats.

The interior uses high-quality materials - leather, soft plastic and metal elements. The interior is similar to Infiniti models. LC has it easier.

There are some differences. The Nissan Patrol seats on the rear side of the driver are higher than the Toyota Land Cruiser seats, but more comfortable in a different car model. This is due to the bulging backs of the Patrol seats. But he has more legroom and the interior is suitable for tall passengers. The Land Cruiser has a lower roof, with the door panel closer to the passengers.

The Patrol's third row seats can be easily folded down. They do not occupy the trunk area, which is practical and convenient. In Kruzak, the situation is different with the rear seats. They can be moved to the side walls. Because of this, the trunk immediately decreases in size. In an SUV, when folding the seats, the floor is smoother than that of the Patrol. In addition, when transporting overall items, you can easily place them in the trunk. The LC features a hinged door and a drop-down bottom compartment.

Both models of cars have a refrigerator located between the front seats.

Nissan Patrol has an advantage - a cooling equipment cover that opens in several directions at once. Passengers in the rear seats can use the refrigerator.

In order not to be hot, Kruzak has seat ventilation in the front. In cold weather, the steering wheel is heated. Climate control in 4 zones inside the cabin will help you feel comfortable. Passengers in the rear seats can control it by changing the temperature and air flow.

Exterior

Both cars are large, like the entire crossover segment. If we compare the Japanese Patrol and Land Cruiser, it becomes clear that the first car is larger than its competitor:

  1. Body length - 5140 mm, the opponent's - 4950 mm.
  2. Wheelbase- 3075 mm, for another car - 2850 mm.
  3. Because of this, the mass of SUVs differs. Heavier than Nissan - 2750 kg, Toyota is less - 2415 kg.

There are also differences in appearance. The Land Cruiser uses chrome in the body. Installed LED headlights. There is a light grille on the bumper. The body is more inclined (height 1950 mm) than the Nissan (1934 mm). He is almost vertical. Tires vary by car. Land Cruiser has 285/60 R18. Patrol - 275/60 R20.

Features of power units

Nissan and Toyota have petrol engines instead of diesel, but they differ in some characteristics. For fast and powerful driving, the first crossover is suitable. V engine with 8 cylinders. Power - 405 liters. from. Volume - 5.6 l. Due to this, it accelerates in 6 seconds.

Toyota has a slightly weaker powertrain. The engine is the same - V8. The engine power is less - 381 hp. from. Because of this, the car accelerates more slowly. The difference is 2 seconds.

Before buying a car, you need to know the characteristics of the transmission in order to understand the power. Cars have it automatic. There is a manual mode. There are some differences. The Patrol has a seven-speed power unit, and the Land Cruiser has a six-speed. But at Toyota is better brake system. Nissan shakes to the side when stopped.

Multifunctionality of the device system

When choosing a Patrol or Land Cruiser model, you need to consider device systems with a set of functions. They make driving easier for the driver. At Kruzak, the multifunctional system is located on different panels, which complicates management. At Nissan, it is concentrated in one place, which is much more convenient when using all the functions.

Patrol is equipped with a monitor that allows you to see obstacles outside the car. They are transmitted to the display from the cameras. Parking won't be difficult.

The developers of Land Cruiser, in turn, have improved the Crawl Control system, which allows the car to control the speed without change. Nissan Patrol is distinguished by the presence of displays on the backs of the seats. Developed cruise control helps to control the speed of the car on the road and the distance from other cars. This makes the driving process more reliable.

Comparison of specifications

When choosing an SUV from Patrol or Kruzak model 105 cars, you need to know the characteristics of the technical component of the car, which will make it easier to choose one of the presented cars.

When comparing Patrol and Land Cruiser, it turns out that both Japanese crossovers gasoline power units, but with different power. Engine type - V8, drive - 4WD. The wading depth determines whether the vehicle can pass the obstacle. The ford of a river is taken as an example, through which a car is able to pass. For SUVs, this is 70 cm. The front and rear brakes are of the disc type.

The difference lies elsewhere:

  1. Nissan surpasses Toyota in displacement. He has 5552 cm, while the competitor has 4608 cm.
  2. More engine output - 405, another car - 381.
  3. The maximum torque for Patrol is 560/4000, for LK it is 545/3600.
  4. The ride height is 274 mm, Toyota has only 225.
  5. Speed - 210, the other - 205.

Nissan consumes less fuel on the road - 14.5 l \ 100 km. The volume of the tank is 100 liters. Another Japanese has more consumption and a tank - 18.1 l / 100 km per 701 liters.

When Toyota released the Land Cruiser 200, someone at Nissan probably had a heart attack - there's nothing to cover! The former Infiniti QX 56 was not suitable for SUVs at all, and the Patrol Y61 all-terrain vehicle was floundering somewhere near the “eighties” (TLC 80) of the end of the last century in terms of comfort. Now the Toyota people are in disarray - they really want an independent suspension, but to lose an extensive clientele of wealthy jeepers, convinced that there are no SUVs without bridges and a frame - the toad is strangling. Should Toyota be in a hurry to burn bridges - let's try to find out through a comparative analysis.

Crying for a legend

Jeepers do not stray in packs for any reason, on the contrary, they roam the forests more and more, and organize joint events mainly of a competitive nature, only this, apparently, saved the Nissan representative office from unauthorized protests when the former Patrol was discontinued. However, on the forums, there was a nationwide cry - we already have almost no choice of new real SUVs with two continuous bridges, but here ...
The remaining after the departure of the "true Patrol" can be counted on the fingers: Land Rover Defender, Jeep Wrangler, UAZ Patriot and Hunter - one hand is enough. Moreover, none of them immediately corresponds to the three qualities that the Patrol Y61 possessed: comfort, spacious interior, high cross-country ability. It’s a lot to climb through the mud, but only the aristocrats of the spirit can appreciate the Defender (especially for that kind of money), the five-door Wrangler fits one shackle more than the three-door one (two in total), and the Patriot and Hunter are so rich in national characteristics that people with money, but without the desire to collect spare parts falling off along the way, they usually do not look in their direction.
In fact, today in the Nissan lineup, available from official dealers, there are no full-axle SUVs left, and there is only one car suitable for serious expeditions - the Nissan NP 300 pickup truck. Single-base Navara and Pathfinder do not count - these are purely suburban cars. New Patrol… It is possible to go to the Taimyr village of Karaul, like our author and popular TV presenter Andrey Leontiev, but, considering all the expenses, it is easier to hire a helicopter, and it is better not to meddle in the swamp for any money - the hippopotamus is heavy and huge. It’s a pity, of course, but it’s not jeepers that rule in the minds of Nissan traders, but various sheiks and oligarchs, and the new Patrol is a pure oil deflection to suit their desires.

WE SAY "TOYOTA", TLC IN THE MIND

Wake up any citizen in the middle of the night Russian Federation with the word "Toyota" - how to drink, it will plump out of bed on the floor and begin to beat the bows: "Control the dream, control the dream." And what could be the dream of a normal person besides the Land Cruiser? Unless you are a RAV 4, but if you are a woman, a man should want a Kruzak - many have absorbed this with their father's belt and mother's milk, and regardless of whether or not their ancestors have off-road passion. Interestingly, the Toyotars themselves believe in this, so they are terribly afraid to change the configuration of the “Main Dream”, although the passion is whatever you want, and this does not contradict the logic of a large comfortable SUV. But faith has no logic, and, having lost the last bridge (do not remember how long ago Land Cruisers were delivered to us only with independent front suspension), the “two hundredth” Kruzak will stand on a par with the new Patrol. It's a paradox, but in the case of the Land Cruiser 200, it turns out that the increase in comfort, handling and other advantages of a fully independent suspension add up to a decrease in the status of the car. Although "Toyota" should worry about it, with its close-knit ranks as a selection of strong, unkillable "rogues". Prado and HiLux, despite the terrible high cost, are practically out of competition, and it costs nothing to bring a 4Runner from the States, and if you launch the condo TLC 76 to us, the British can turn off Defender sales ahead of schedule.

TENSIONED PARITY

The modern Nissan Patrol Y62 is based on the platform of the equally new Infiniti QX 56. Or vice versa - it doesn’t matter, the main thing is that the QX 56 and Patrol finally became related, like the Land Cruiser 200 and Lexus LX 570. The new Patrol was built to defeat the “two hundred” , and therefore longer and wider than the LC 200, it has a longer wheelbase and even ground clearance.
The difference in size is obvious, besides, Patrol looks utterly monumental, but this does not affect convenience in any way, in both cars you can squat in the middle row, and the “small” Toyota inside is as spacious as the Patrol, except perhaps the second row seats here a little lower. The third row is full-fledged everywhere, it’s convenient to climb in, you can sit in the trunk for a couple of hundred kilometers absolutely painlessly, but the rear seats fold in different ways. In the TLC 200, they are pressed against the sides in the old fashioned way, reducing the area of the cargo compartment, and in the Patrol they are removed flush with the trunk floor. If Nissan's middle row also turned into a flat floor, it would win the interior transformation competition, but the sofa, divided in a ratio of 2: 1, stands vertically behind the front seats, opening a bottomless abyss into which you can throw the corpses of competitors .

But sleeping in the Patrol is not as comfortable as in the TLC 200 - there the floor with the second row folded down turns out to be even. In addition, the Toyota sofa is divided into three parts - having thrown back the middle one, it’s good to put skis or shove on the go in the trunk. And in general, if it occurs to some oil baron to take the boards to the dacha himself, it is more convenient to do it on the Cruiser - the tailgate is hinged there, and the lower part does not fall, as before, but smoothly lowers.
In the armrests between the front seats, both have huge refrigerators. "Patrol" boasts that six half-liter bottles of cola freely enter into its refrigerated box, but you can stuff the same amount into Toyota's, however, back to back. But such a convenient thing as a lid that opens in two directions - it can also be lifted from the second row - is not provided in the “dvuhsotka” refrigerator.
Kruzak recently went through a light upgrade and caught up with Patrol in such “chips” as front seat ventilation and a heated steering wheel, and, unlike Nissan, it has four-zone climate control with a full-featured control unit for middle row passengers. But there is no adaptive cruise control and monitors in the headrests.
In general, if you measure the coolness of the filling, the rivals will always have something to answer. Here there is a certain tense parity, as between the USSR and the USA during the period of the Cuban confrontation, but in terms of design, the conservatism of the TLC 200 seems more comfortable than the frilly lines and abundant wooden trim of the Patrol - in Kruzak you immediately feel at home. Patrol is too pompous and spacious from the driver's point of view due to the curved dash lines. Perhaps this feeling is due to the light beige finish, because color, as you know, affects the perception of space. The range of adjustment of the driver's seat is good for both, but in the Land Cruiser, with my height of 183 cm, I almost rested my eyes on the upper edge of the windshield, which at first I wanted to sit lower than the electric drives allow. Then I got used to it and stopped noticing it. Visibility is good, but the side mirrors of the Land Cruiser are more informative, and indeed, the dimensions of the Toyota feel better.

WEAK!

Nissan Patrol beats the Land Cruiser 200 to smithereens in terms of volume and power of a gasoline engine. A V-shaped 5.6-liter eight with four hundred and five horses with a titanic 560 Newton meters of torque accelerates the Patrol to hundreds in 6.6 seconds - almost like a sports car. The eight-cylinder V-shaped Toyota is a liter smaller and almost a hundred forces weaker - it has only 309 “horses”, and the thrust compared to the Nissan is not God knows what - 439 Nm at 3400 rpm. Accordingly, acceleration to a hundred lasts 8.6 seconds - the “two hundred” is far behind in all dynamic characteristics, but in this case it can only be considered displacement and power for the purpose of moral superiority.

Subjectively, the acceleration dynamics in both cases is more than sufficient. True, Patrol crouches more noticeably on rear axle, if you push the slipper into the floor, and the sound of the engine - oh, for this frightening roar, it’s not a pity to give at least 20.6 liters per hundred in urban mode (in theory), but in fact all 30! "Kruzak" is a little more economical, but a difference of one and a half to two liters will not make the weather. Both have “automatic machines” with an honest manual mode, the “Patrol” has a seven-speed one, and the Cruiser received a 6-speed gearbox after modernization (previously, Toyota put a 5-speed automatic transmission on the “gasoline” cars). True, the seven steps in the Nissan box do not cancel the slight delay at the start and in the kick-down mode, and the shifts are only slightly less noticeable. The “automatic” TLC 200 also “slows down” at the start, and it doesn’t respond immediately to a sharp press of the accelerator pedal when overtaking, but Toyota’s brakes are more informative, but both monsters nod strongly during active braking, and the Patrol also noticeably leads away aside in the mix.
Giant suspension travels and extreme energy consumption make it possible not to think about the quality of the coating, but despite its “independence”, the Nissan Patrol as a whole is controlled no better than the Land Cruiser 200 - the Patrol’s steering wheel is empty in the near-zero zone and, surprisingly, it vibrates in order from small uneven asphalt. The "steering wheel" of the Land Cruiser is completely isolated from any vibrations, while the "collected", the feedback is better, and the directional stability is simply phenomenal, but the lateral rolls are more than "patrol" despite the improved KDSS - the kinetic suspension stabilization system. The Patrol also has additional stabilizing hydraulics under the abbreviation HBMC, the meaning of its work is about the same - to “clamp” the anti-roll bars with increasing speed, but it is sharper “sharpened” for asphalt. On a grader and a dry primer, Patrol behaves more restrained, managing in fast turns without sweeping, like a Toyota, rear axle drifts and deep rolls, and its dynamic stabilization system looks at your “smartness” through its fingers, stopping only outright hooliganism. Toyota's ESP is almost as tolerant, and the Kruzak's behavior in drifts does not hold any surprises, so if you are not afraid of big rolls, it's nice to light the Cruiser in its own way.

AND THERE IS NO SAND!

In Saudi Arabia and all sorts of Arab Emirates, sand is the main source of off-road pleasures, and there Patrol will definitely make a gasoline Land Cruiser 200, in the dunes, first of all, frenzied traction and power are valued. I remember how helpless, in comparison with diesel, the gasoline Kruzak seemed to me in the Caspian dunes. "Dvuhsotka" on heavy fuel with 615 Nm of thrust (more than "patrol" petrol 560 Nm) on the raised one went quietly where the petrol "Cruiser" could no longer turn the wheels without a lowering. In the sandy competition, the only 5.6-liter "patrol" engine kills both Toyota hares at once, but we have no sand! Off-road of the middle lane is mud, ruts, snow and swamps, and on the "patrol" controller of the off-road programs of the system all-wheel drive All Mode 4×4 "dirt" position is simply missing.

Asphalt, sand, snow or stones - it’s good that they didn’t forget about the winter. IN automatic mode Patrol uses a multi-plate clutch to connect the front wheels, off-road you can rigidly divide power flows in half by switching to 4H mode, and if it’s completely “locked in”, use a lowering. But the situation when the "Patrol" may really need a demultiplier is hard to imagine - it is more likely that an excess of traction is felt here than a lack of it. What can really come in handy is the locking of the rear cross-axle differential, in the event that you still manage to hang one of the wheels. The Patrol is “baptized” to the crunch of bumpers, the suspension moves are gigantic, but having specially “hung” Nissan in a ravine, I drove in reverse quite calmly. In principle, the back could not be blocked - the traction control works quite adequately. Off-road programs are also not surprising - in the "sand" position, the computer allows you to slip more than in the "snow", and the "stones" mode practically does not allow wheel slippage. But let's not forget that any, even "Land Rover" electronics are still no smarter than a person, in a difficult situation you should not rely on "cyber nannies", but the help on the descent and ascent is a really useful option and in both cars it works fine.

FROM "BELARUS" TO "KIROVETS"

Listing all the off-road systems of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 is as long as looking for where this economy is included. Unlike Patrol, in which everything related to off-road is collected on one two-story washer, the control of Toyota electronics is scattered throughout the geography and is multi-stage - remembering the necessary algorithms is oh so difficult, especially if you drive off the asphalt every six months and forgot the instructions at home . But what wealth! In addition to permanent all-wheel drive with a Torsen center differential that distributes 60% of traction to the rear axle and 40% to the front “in the machine”, center lock and low gear, Kruzak has Crawl Control to automatically maintain a set speed from 1 to 5 km /h and Multi-Terrain Select with a rich selection of modes. There are five of them: large stones, stones and mud, moguls, crushed stone, mud and sand.
Uh-uh, where is the snow? And what is "mogul"? In principle, it doesn’t matter, you just need to remember that the more “stony” the chosen program, the less slippage it allows. And “mogul” is hillocks, you know, there is such a skiing discipline where athletes compete in slalom between small hillocks. Taking care of maintaining the image of the coolest SUV in the world, Toyota will come up with something for every Kruzak update. This time we increased the number of fixed speeds of Crawl Control to five positions and tried to teach the TLC to maneuver like a tractor - blocking the inner rear wheel during a turn so that the car “spins” around it. We checked - it doesn’t work on asphalt, on the ground you can see how the car “drags” the blocked wheel, however, the turning radius does not decrease much from this.

It looks like Off-Road Turn Assist can be useful somewhere in narrow stone gutters littered with rubble, but mountains, like sand, are not often found in our middle lane - there is nowhere to evaluate. The biggest secret is that the Land Cruiser does not need any of these tricky programs! Traction in our realities is enough for him by the eyes and it is very convenient to manage it. Here is an example: on the Kruzak, before a steep climb or to start moving in the sand, you can turn on a lower gear, select any gear in manual automatic transmission mode (usually third or fourth is enough) and move off on it - the same can be done on a lower gear with any "mechanics". Patrol does not know how - its electronics do not allow you to turn on the desired gear on the spot, you have to be distracted by this, storming an obstacle, and even on the go, the question of whether it will work at the right moment remains open.
The Patrol's ground clearance is 275 mm, the Cruiser's has 225 mm (less, but also enough), and because of the long base, the Patrol's ramp angle is worse. Where the Toyota passes the relief fracture calmly, the Nissan slightly catches with its belly, but in order to tear something off, you need to try very hard - the units are above the frame level. The “Dvuhsotka” is also reluctant to hang the wheel on a diagonal, despite the solid rear axle, the suspension moves are such that it can really damage the plastic body kit without choosing the move completely. Taking into account the dimensions, the cross-country ability of our "behemoths" is so excessive that an ordinary owner will be able to use all the possibilities only by deliberately driving the car into the "hell". There is only one clear boundary that should not be crossed - there is nothing to do on soft soils with such a mass. With inept handling, choosing the ground clearance and sitting on your belly, you will have to call not the usual "Belarus", but at least "Kirovets". But any blown up asphalt and a grader plowed by the Urals is not a hindrance to you.

WHAT IS THE BRIDGE?

To be honest, having parted with the last bridge, the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 will not suffer any losses, except for moral ones. What is the use of an archaic, albeit 100% reliable, mechanical part, when any SUV is now crammed with electronics to the very roof. There is a bridge, but it is not - if the computer fails in the taiga or on the winter road, it will no longer matter. Fatal for the TLC 200 improvement in the habits of the "independent" Nissan Patrol is not visible. The new Patrol caught up rather than overtook the "two hundred". The same applies to comfort, but the absence of a diesel engine is clearly not in favor of Patrol - even the oligarchs now like to save money, and a diesel Kruzak is much better than a gasoline one. So Patrol did not become the “killer of the two hundredth”. TLC 200 in the minimum configuration is more expensive than the most packaged Patrol, but Land Cruiser is still bought more, and if so, then why change something.

CITY
Toyota LC 200 **** Nissan Patrol ****
Once, my colleague Georgy Belov was driving away in a Patrol from a store in a narrow alley. We turned around and stood, waiting for our turn to pass. And everyone around, and whose turn it is, and those approaching, stop and wait for the master to deign to go. So Gera arranged a quiet traffic jam - people do not honk, do not swear - they are waiting. Nevertheless, in order not to create obstacles to the movement and not to violate the "concepts", I had to climb without a queue. They also say that large SUVs are inconvenient in the city. "Patrol", by the way, is a little more convenient than the "Cruiser" - it can display a "top view" on the monitor, combining the image from four cameras - an indispensable option in the parking lot.

ROUTE
Toyota LC 200 ***** Nissan Patrol ******
Both monsters provide unlimited opportunities for quick maneuvers, but the Patrol has completely, completely unlimited - it accelerates faster than the Mini Cooper S, however, given the dimensions and rolls, it causes more emotions. Both have excellent directional stability, the brakes are also good, but the Patrol's steering wheel is empty in the near-zero zone and broadcasts a tremble from small irregularities. "Toyota" is more collected, but not so fast, and rolls are more than "patrol" ones.

GRADER
Toyota LC 200 ****** Nissan Patrol ******
Broken roads - that's their native element. It is possible to break through the suspension with such moves and energy intensity only on purpose, the smoothness of the ride is akin to a cruise ship. The Patrol finally gets intelligible feedback on the steering wheel in corners with large angles and steers without problems in a skid. "Cruiser" in the corners blows more, rolls more, but the behavior is the same predictable, and the stabilization systems in both cars allow you to "hooligan safely."

OFF-ROAD
Toyota LC 200 ****** Nissan Patrol ****
The Patrol loses to the Cruiser not because of the independent suspension - on the contrary, it saves it with huge moves, but in terms of dimensions, wheelbase length and the functionality of off-road electronics. Despite the lower ground clearance, the Kruzak feels more confident also because it is easier to deal with off-road conditions manually, without resorting to "cyber nannies".

COMFORT

The Patrol has such nice options as adaptive cruise control, a cooled box in the armrest that opens front and rear, and monitors in the headrests. But in the "Cruiser" climate control is four-zone, with a separate remote control for the second row, and the seats are heated there. In principle, "bash on bash", but "Kruzak" is a little softer and a little quieter.

SUMMARY
Toyota LC 200 ****** Nissan Patrol *****
Having made such a sharp breakthrough, the Nissan Patrol overtook the Toyota LC 200, probably only in dynamics, and in terms of comfort and handling it reached its level, but no more. Now our oligarchs have both a choice and the opportunity to save a little - the most expensive Patrol is almost a hundred thousand cheaper than the cheapest Land Cruiser 200.

Whose intelligence is cooler? Toyota Land Cruiser 200 or Nissan Patrol?

Toyota Land Cruiser 200
(235 hp) 4.5 l, 6AT, price: 3,252,000 rubles.
Nissan Patrol
(405 hp) 5.6 l, 7AT, price: 3,544,000 rubles.

IN automotive world everything is changing at an alarming rate. Often, models "jump" from one segment to another, at the same time gaining new competitors. However, among all this inconstancy, there are instances that not only maintain a firm position in the class, but also go hand in hand with the same rival for many years.

If we considered the heroes of our test from the standpoint of the American market, we could say that we are dealing with SUVs slightly above the average size class. However, given the realities of our Russian market both the Nissan Patrol and the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 can be safely called real heavyweights. And, I must say, their track record truly inspires respect, and even the competition between these two SUVs has been going on for decades. Destined for such a long rivalry, they, however, have not yet met face to face on a test in our magazine. And another reason for the “face-to-face confrontation” was the Nissan Patrol update this year.

led shuffle

What's new this year at Nissan Patrol? In fact, a slight restyling was carried out, and the car got a new front bumper with a slightly modified false radiator grille, which did not greatly affect the perception of the overall image. LED elements of a rather interesting configuration appeared in the headlights. By the way, its rival Land Cruiser 200 received similar additions to the front optics back in 2011, however, the Toyota SUV is unlikely to compare with the Patrol in the original design of the front lighting devices. Well, modern fashion has to be followed by everyone who wants to stay at the peak of popularity. However, the practicality of such solutions is also an important factor: the durability and cost-effectiveness of LEDs is well known. But from the rear lights in the updated Nissan Patrol, such elements were excluded, which, perhaps, is for the best. Such is the change of light scenery.

Otherwise, the Nissan Patrol remained the same, as evidenced by the interior space. In general, the 2010 Nissan Patrol took on a more refined image compared to the uncompromising Patrol that we still remember well. And in this they conceptually differ from the second participant in our test. The Toyota Land Cruiser 200 is still a brutal SUV with a rugged exterior and interior - a kind of workhorse in the world of automotive elite. As for the Patrol model, Nissan decided to “pull up” the image component of its offspring to the level of the Infiniti brand. There is nothing surprising here, because in the model range of the premium American-Japanese brand there is a close relative of the current Patrol - Infiniti QX80. The similarity is especially noticeable in the interior of the Nissan SUV, and the first thing that catches your eye is the center console, made exactly in the style Infiniti cars. Quite a large area of the dashboard and door panels is finished with wood with a wavy texture - such veneer is used in the decoration of elite musical instruments. Literally shiny leather was selected for the upholstery of the seats, armrests and other parts of the cabin. In a word, an unambiguous hint of luxury.

Severe does not mean poor

But if you take the Toyota Land Cruiser 200, almost the same thing can be found in it. Here and wooden lacquered inserts, and leather trim, and in general the quality of the materials is excellent. However, it looks somehow everyday, without causing any special emotions. Expensive, high quality, soundly, but somehow boring. In comparison with Patrol, the luxury is somehow harsh. Yes, and in terms of equipment, Nissan, although not by much, but bypassed the opponent. Basically, the level of equipment is similar. Both cars have a set of options that are necessary and sufficient for representatives of the premium segment. All driving adjustments are electrically driven. The climate control system has separate adjustments not only for the driver and front passenger, but also for those sitting in the back. Multimedia systems with built-in navigation, rear, side and front cameras with a display on the center console ... Stop. But the Nissan Patrol has three displays. There are two more screens built into the front seat headrests. They, unlike the multi-functional screen in the front panel, are intended only for entertainment, so that rear passengers do not get bored.

However, Nissan's off-roader still lacks flexibility. It is offered in three equipment levels - Base, High and Top. They differ, for the most part, in the presence or absence of numerous on- and off-road electronic assistance systems. But the Toyota Land Cruiser may also change the configuration of the cabin. If the Patrol interior can only be seven-seater, then the Land Cruiser 200 has versions with and without a third row of seats. The seats of the third row at the “two hundred” recline to the side walls, which is very significant in terms of additional space in the trunk. The third row of seats on the Nissan Patrol folds down to the floor, taking up a fair amount of liters that could be useful for luggage.

Nissan Patrol

The Nissan Patrol power unit is placed longitudinally in front. The bridges are equipped with simple symmetrical differentials (D). The torque-on-demand (T) system is responsible for taking power to the front axle. The transmission control panel is located on the central tunnel. In Auto mode, when driving on a flat, dry road, all power is transferred to the rear wheels, and if one of them slips, a multi-plate friction clutch is engaged. There are modes "sand", "snow" and "stones". When working in these modes, the electronics controls not only the transfer case, but also the automatic transmission and the stabilization system, which can be turned off. The transfer case is provided with a reduction gear (PP). The rear axle differential can be forcibly locked (P).

Choice is the key to success

Does not offer Patrol to its potential owners and choice power plants. After the update, the technical stuffing has not changed, and only 5.6-liter is installed on this car. Gas engine power 405 hp And no diesel compromises, just a gas guzzler! As for the Land Cruiser 200, as you know, it has options - both gasoline and diesel. The latter just participated in our test. And, I must say, efficiency suits everyone, even expensive SUVs. The diesel "two hundredth" proved to be excellent in the city, not forcing you to look at the fuel reserve indicator every minute - is it time to refuel. Of course, it cannot be compared in dynamics with the Nissan Patrol, which beats its rival in the test for more than two seconds in acceleration to 100 km / h. But the payment for such agility will not be long in coming: you will have to “feed” the 405-horsepower monster very often. In a word, for those who are accustomed not to deny themselves either speed or spending.

Nevertheless, the Land Cruiser 200 cannot be called slow. To manage the dynamics on this car is enough of a mission. Firstly, the impressive thrust of the 4.5-liter diesel unit does not require frequent gear changes while driving, since the engine perfectly “pulls” from the most low speed and without kick-down mode. Well, and secondly, if there is still a need to accelerate more sharply, the transition to one or two “down” gears occurs quite quickly, the machine is quite responsive to the actions of the gas pedal.

Toyota LC200

Free bevel differentials (D) are installed in the front and rear axles of the LC 200, their blocking is simulated by the operation of the brake mechanisms (TM) when the slipping wheel is braked. Between the axles, the traction force is distributed by an asymmetric Torsen limited-slip differential (NSD) in a ratio of 40:60 (in favor of the rear wheels). With straight, uniform movement on a dry road, the differential is in a free state. In the event of deterioration of conditions for wheel adhesion to the ground, up to 50% of the torque can be realized through the front axle of the off-road vehicle, and up to 70% through the rear axle. Among other things, there is a complex of Multi-terrain Select systems that allows you to adapt the on-board electronics to one of five types of coverage (mud and sand, crushed stone, mogul, stones and dirt, large stones).

Intelligence for different roads

One of the main advantages of the Nissan Patrol as an SUV is its behavior on the pavement. Yes, yes, this is not a reservation. Indeed, after the transition in 2010 to the “club of independent suspensions”, Patrol significantly improved its asphalt capabilities. But, as you know, cross-country vehicles on flat roads do not shine with filigree handling. This statement, however, is true for both test participants. But still, on the Land Cruiser 200, when performing test exercises, you do not feel very confident. The long steering wheel, soft, blurred reactions do not allow you to clearly perform the "rearrangement". The car slides with the front axle, straightening the trajectory. At the same time, you understand that with such slightly even frightening rolls, a more “sharp” behavior could turn into a rollover. Nissan Patrol also has decent rolls. But its more distinct trajectory and course stability gives a little more confidence. So the habits of Patrol can be considered more passenger than those of the opponent.

In addition, the Nissan SUV is equipped with a hydraulic system for limiting body vibrations, which also does its job during sharp maneuvers. In general, Patrol is equipped with many "prevention" systems. For the most part, they relate to driving on flat roads. Thanks to them, the car is able to control the distance when cruise control is on, monitor traffic within the markings, warn of the risk of a collision, “monitor” blind spots on the sides, and also prevent a collision when reversing.

But the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 focuses on off-road equipment. The Multi Terrain Select and Crawl Control systems, each of which has five modes, are not just marketing "chips", but really useful features. Multi terrain Select lets you choose from five types of terrain, and with Crawl Control you can set one of five levels of off-road speed limits. The same system also controls the descent from the mountain, applying the brakes, but at the same time preventing skidding. Of course, almost everything that electronics does, an experienced driver can do himself by turning on the lower row and the corresponding locks, but that's the beauty of the "two hundred" that here everyone can choose whether to rely on the intelligence of the car or minimize its influence and act on your own, using the necessary transfers and locks. There is another mode, which, perhaps, can be classified as entertainment. This is Turn Assist - off-road turning assistance. The bottom line is to reduce the turning radius on loose and slippery soils by blocking one rear wheel. Performing such a reversal is quite funny, but the usefulness of this function is clearly not great.

Nissan Patrol does not provide the driver with such freedom and diversity. Unlike the Land Cruiser 200 all-wheel drive system with a center differential, the Patrol's axle torque distribution is carried out using an electronic multi-plate clutch. And the driver can choose one of four modes - sand, asphalt, snow or stones. Each of them implements its own algorithm for the operation of the interaxle assembly, as well as brake mechanisms that limit the slippage of each wheel individually. The driver, of course, has the opportunity to downshift and lock the rear differential, but the center lock is completely under the control of the car. Hill Descent Assist (HSA) and Hill Descent Assist (HDC) systems are also part of the Patrol's arsenal.

Focusing on the premium nature of its model, Nissan, perhaps, somewhat confused the maps with a related brand Infiniti. What is the place of the luxurious Patrol now, if for almost the same money there is an equally luxurious, but more prestigious Infiniti QX80? Perhaps this option is closer to the American market. And for domestic realities, the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 is more understandable, remaining in its niche, thanks to which it maintains its stable position.

Toyota Land Cruiser and Nissan Patrol are perhaps one of the most bitter rivals for class leadership. large SUVs. Will Toyota's recent restyling help beat a competitor?

Nissan Patrol latest generation it was created, one might say, with one goal: engineers and designers were tasked with surpassing the Toyota Land Cruiser in all respects. As a result, Patrol is much longer and wider than the rival, although slightly lower. In addition, it is 160 kg heavier, and the engine is 96 hp more powerful. In a word, the Land Cruiser seems small against the backdrop of Patrol! Can you imagine this? With a recent facelift, the Land Cruiser has received a refined appearance - new bumpers and grille, turn signal repeaters in the rear-view mirrors, a little more chrome in the body trim, as well as LEDs in the headlights and taillights. But in general, the SUV has remained the same, so that the owners of pre-styling versions will not feel like they are driving an old car.

Another important change for the Land Cruiser is a new petrol powertrain. To replace the old 4.7-liter engine with 288 hp. came a little less voluminous (4.6 l), but more modern engine, developing 309 hp Appeared and new transmission- 6-band "automatic" instead of the old 5-band. Updates have reduced the acceleration time to 100 km / h from 9.2 to 8.6 s. At the same time, the maximum speed increased from 200 to 205 km / h, and the average fuel consumption decreased from 14.4 to 13.9 liters. Turbodiesel version with a 4.5-liter unit with 235 hp. remained unchanged.

Off-road equipment has also improved: Land Cruiser received an upgraded Crawl Control system that allows you to maintain a constant speed without driver intervention. Now it has five speed modes - from 1 to 7 km / h. All-round cameras have appeared, which is convenient not only on the roads, but also in the parking lot. The turbodiesel version is sold at a price of 3,181,000 rubles, and the initial cost of the gasoline version is 3,325,000 rubles.

As for the Nissan Patrol, it has not yet lived up to restyling and has exactly the same design as in 2010, when the current generation model saw the light of day. He has only one engine, but what! The atmospheric “eight” with a volume of 5.6 liters produces 405 hp, thanks to which the almost 3-ton “mammoth” gains the first “hundred” in just 6.6 seconds and accelerates to 210 km / h. Average fuel consumption is 14.5 liters, which is not much more than the competitor. At the same time, Patrol is cheaper than Land Cruiser - prices for an SUV start at 2,995,000 rubles.

vast expanses

If you think that the Toyota Land Cruiser is a huge car, then you have never been inside the Nissan Patrol, whose interior seems like a bottomless cavern. For example, it is impossible to reach the opposite door without getting up from the driver's seat. The interior is very richly furnished: a lot of leather, shiny “metal” and soft plastic. In general, it is practically no different from the interior of the Infiniti QX56 premium SUV, on the basis of which the Patrol is built. The style is the same as that of the “younger” Infiniti models, only most of the details are increased by one and a half times.

After Patrol, the interior of the Land Cruiser seems almost compact. The roof is lower and the door panel is very close to the shoulder. However, there is plenty of space here, especially in width. The center armrest seems even wider than in the Patrol, and the opposite door is also out of reach. The quality of finishing materials is noticeably simpler, although there is also leather and soft plastic, although not in such quantities as Nissan. The design is brutal, masculine, in contrast to the “refined” Patrol interior. Here, the controls are so large that they can be used with thick gloves. Powerful interior door handles alone are worth something!

The driving position in both cars is royal. I sit high - I look far away. But the Nissan driver is still a little higher. But the seats are more comfortable in Toyota - their profile is much better. Traditionally, Patrol seats for Nissan brand cars have a strongly convex back, which at first pushes out until you “sit down”. But the landing geometry is good - the ranges of adjustments allow drivers of a very different build to get comfortable. But in Toyota, some of us had to move closer than usual due to insufficient adjustment of the steering column in the longitudinal direction.

On the second row of seats, Nissan's advantage becomes overwhelming. Legroom is at least twice that of the Toyota. In addition, the Land Cruiser's sofa is low, which is why tall passengers will sit with their knees up. However, all this is noticeable only against the background of Patrol, and there is plenty of space in Toyota. Both rivals offer reclining backrests, a separate climate system for the rear, and ceiling vents.

Our competitors also have a third row of seats. In Nissan, a 180 cm tall person sits down without problems - with a small margin, he has enough space for his knees, and for his feet, and above his head. But in Toyota, with the second-row sofa pushed back to the stop, there is no legroom at all for a passenger of this height. The only way out is to move the front sofa forward.

The luggage compartment is also larger in volume at Nissan. Moreover, Toyota's third-row seats fold sideways, which eats up a lot of usable space. But it is more convenient to load things in the Land Cruiser due to the lower loading height. However, there are nuances here. The fact is that the rear door of Toyota is double-leaf - the upper and lower parts open separately. The lower folding “board” is convenient for loading, but it is difficult to get a thing lying deep because of this.

Off-road Land Cruiser is one of the best

On the roads…

The Land Cruiser engine starts with a powerful sound, as if a gigantic vacuum cleaner has started working under the hood - impressive. At Patrol, the motor wakes up more casually. In terms of acceleration dynamics, Nissan, of course, surpasses its rival, but, according to the sensations, it is by no means 96 hp. And even a sharper adjustment of the accelerator pedal does not help - you can’t hide the extra weight. Yes, and the “automatic” of the Patrol, despite the extra gear, works slower than the Toyota one and, moreover, does not have a sports mode.

The Land Cruiser is distinguished by a damped “gas” pedal when starting off, but it reacts more vividly at speed, especially if you turn the “automatic” gearbox into sports mode. Although in this case, sports sharpness is not observed. And the brakes at Toyota “grab” more energetically, although both of them have a remarkable mass.

The Land Cruiser's steering is sharper than its rival (3.1 turns lock-to-lock versus 3.6 for the Patrol) and has better feedback. The turning radius is also smaller for Toyota - one meter. Add here better visibility, especially in the central rear-view mirror (Nissan has a small rear window obscured by three high head restraints), and a better sense of dimensions.

As a result, in cramped urban conditions, moving around in a Land Cruiser is much more convenient than in a Patrol, the driver of which feels like an elephant in a china shop - you can’t say otherwise.

On the expressway, the off-road experience changes. The Patrol driver can finally relax and enjoy locomotive directional stability that even the deepest ruts cannot shake. The Land Cruiser does not react to rutting either - it just “floats” slightly left and right along the road, even on a perfectly flat surface. And gusts of side wind in Toyota are felt noticeably stronger. And at the speed prohibited by the rules, the difference in the power of our rivals becomes noticeable. Where the Land Cruiser is already straining, the Patrol continues to pick up speed with ease.

In terms of fuel consumption, by the way, there is also a difference. Both have fuel gauge needles rapidly moving to zero, but the Nissan needle does it faster.

If you turn off the Russian “autobahn” onto a secondary country path, replete with humps and dips, both of our “mastodons” begin to sway. Toyota is especially guilty of this. So if passengers suffer from seasickness, it is better to slow down in advance and move slowly.

Our rivals do not inspire confidence on a winding track either, but there are differences here. So, Land Cruiser, thanks to its smaller dimensions and more informative steering, seems more agile, but it rolls a lot. Patrol, on the contrary, does not shine with feedback and is in no hurry to change direction, but it has much less roll. Thanks to a proprietary system called Hydraulic Body Motion Control, which pumps fluid between hydraulic cylinders mounted on shock absorbers.

For driving comfort, it is preferable to Nissan. Surprisingly, its huge 20-inch "rollers" bounce much less on bumps than the rival's 18-inch wheels, although they are slightly more responsive to the microprofile of the road surface. Body Toyota shudders noticeably stronger on potholes and asphalt cracks. And the buildup on a wavy road, as we said, is felt more in the Land Cruiser. But in general, the ride is good for both. And there is nothing to say about the “tank” energy intensity. In addition, Toyota has louder airflow noise at high speeds, and at low speeds, you can hear the clatter of spikes and the sound of pebbles on the wheel arches. Silence reigns inside the Nissan - no tires, no stones, no motor, only the wind begins to hiss weakly when the speed approaches the one and a half hundred mark.

Patrol has become a real aristocrat

…and without them

Although, according to statistics, 95% of SUVs never leave the asphalt in their lives, we could not deny ourselves the pleasure of “swimming in the mud”, for which we went to the sand pit. Loose sand, of course, is not the best habitat for heavy SUVs, but the work of all-wheel drive and other “off-road” systems, as they say, is visible to the naked eye.

Speaking briefly about the equipment of our rivals, both are equipped with a reduction gear and are able to electronically adapt to the type of coverage. At the same time, the center differential is blocked for the Land Cruiser, and the rear wheel differential for the Patrol. In addition, Toyota is able to open anti-roll bars off-road and is equipped with a Crawl Control constant speed system, and can also turn on loose surfaces by braking the rear inner wheel relative to the turn.

Where the sand was dense, it was easier to move around in a Nissan, which also has noticeably higher ground clearance (274 mm versus 225 for Toyota). But the looser the ground became, the more abilities opened up for the Land Cruiser, besides, the shorter wheelbase of Toyota partially compensated for the lack of ground clearance. Yes, and the extra one and a half centners of Patrol have not gone away. And how great the Toyota Crawl Control works! I turned on the system, chose the speed and ... took my feet off the pedals. The car inevitably creeps, “crunching” with the brakes at the slightest attempt to slip and turns around literally on a patch. Nissan can't do that. However, both SUVs got out of the quarry on their own, although Nissan had to worry a couple of times.

When driving on a dirt road, Nissan took the lead. Like on broken pavement, Toyota showed large unsprung masses that make the car tremble with the whole body. And on the “comb”, the driver of the Land Cruiser suddenly felt a vibration on the steering wheel, while Patrol did not experience this.

Which of these two SUVs to choose is a difficult question, and it is hardly possible to give an unambiguous answer to it. If one of them wins on one indicator, the second one immediately responds with a “counterstrike” on another parameter. And so it is in almost everything. Therefore, everyone will determine the winner for himself, based on personal preferences.

Choosing a crossover is an important matter, if you take into account the cost of such a car. Moreover, now they offer a large number of different vehicles. Among such a variety it is difficult to give preference to a particular model, but somehow it is necessary to decide.

If you want to understand what will be better: Patrol or Land Cruiser 200, our article will help you make the final decision.

If you want to compare Nissan Patrol and Land Cruiser 200, then you should start with the most important thing - the technical features of the models. It is worth noting that the technical indicators here are not too different. Both vehicles are equipped with a V8 engine, as a result, fords up to 70 centimeters deep do not cause any difficulties in overcoming. In addition, the standard equipment both there and there involves front and rear disc brakes. True, Nissan has more ground clearance (27.5 centimeters compared to 22.5 cm).

But to be objective when choosing a Nissan Patrol or Land Cruiser 200, it is worth noting that the first car somewhat outperforms the first. First of all, here it is worth dwelling on the size of the engine. At Nissan, it is as much as 5.5 liters, while at Kruzak it is 4.6 (which is also quite powerful). The transmission is also different.

The dynamics of both cars is simply excellent (with their dimensions!), but even here Nissan overtook its Japanese competitor. Patrol takes a hundred in 6.6 seconds, while Toyota can develop a similar speed in only 8.6 seconds. And the maximum acceleration is 210 and 205 kilometers, respectively.

Video test drive and comparison of Nissan Patrol and Toyota Land Cruiser 200:

As a result, this also affected the fuel consumption figures. The 200 Land Cruiser model is somewhat more economical. In mixed mode, it will need 13.6 liters, while for the analogue from the Nissan brand, it needs as much as 14.6 liters under the same driving conditions.

What makes Toyota different

Before you find out which is better: Nissan Patrol or Land Cruiser 200, it is worth evaluating the features of each vehicle. And we will begin our description with a representative of the Toyota concern. We can say with confidence that almost everyone has a dream to buy just such a car. Especially when it comes to a presentable Land Cruiser 200, well, or at least RAV4.

Until now, manufacturers are proud of their offspring, and for good reason. After all, both the exterior and interior of the car are just perfect, any changes can damage the decor.

This car model is in the halo of mysticism - probably, if improved vehicle, adding a bit of handling and comfort, as well as equipping it with independent suspension and a number of other fashionable elements, it may lose its charm.

On the other hand, even now the car behaves just fine. The car turned out to be strong, reliable, it can easily overcome almost any impassability. This is also confirmed by the mass of ratings, where Toyota has practically no worthy competitors among other SUVs.

A few words about Nissan

But strengths in the battle of Nissan Patrol against the Land Cruiser 200, not only the second car has it. In general, the very process of creating the model is most likely due to the fact that the automaker did not have a worthy competitor to the LC 200.

As a result, the new Patrol came out larger and more massive than previous counterparts. The car is distinguished by its monumental interior. At the same time, all design decisions related to the design of the body are not reflected in any way on the spaciousness of the cabin.

Interior Features

It is difficult to choose between the Nissan Patrol or the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 in terms of roominess and spaciousness inside. At first glance, it may seem that the LC 200 is smaller, as it is more compact in appearance. At the same time, both according to experts and owners, the driver and passengers feel comfortable in both cars.

In the Nissan Patrol, the rear seats are slightly higher than those of the Cruiser. At the same time, there is a full-fledged third row that can be folded, which significantly increases capacity. At the same time, in Kruzak, the chairs move to the sides. In fact, the LC 200 lags behind in terms of trunk. But he overlaps this card with the fact that it is better to sleep in Toyota. This is especially true for fishermen and hunters. During sleep, you don’t have to curl up there, there is enough space. In addition, the Cruiser's trunk is equipped with a hinged door, which allows you to carry long items, like skis.

Whatever model the future car owner chooses, the vehicle will be equipped with a spacious refrigerator between the front seats. But in Nissan, the lid of the device is bidirectional, so even passengers who are located behind can use the refrigerator.

Continuing to choose: Nissan Patrol or Toyota Land Cruiser 200, it is worth emphasizing that the latter car is equipped with a number of newfangled features, including:

  • ventilation of the front seats;
  • steering wheel heating;
  • four-zone climate control.

At the same time, passengers can also control such climate control. Competing Nissan is not far behind. Among the advantages of the model are adaptive cruise control, as well as monitors built into the headrests.

In fact, it is impossible to objectively assess which is better: Patrol or Land Cruiser. True, lovers of conservatism will suit the second car, and there is more comfort and coziness. But Nissan, on the other hand, is distinguished by its artsy curves and massive trim, which adds originality to it.

Features of power units

We have already compared: Nissan Patrol or Land Cruiser 100 technical specifications, but now let's dwell on this in more detail. Powerful engines allow you to put Nissan along with modern sports cars, because even they do not always gain a hundred in 6.6 seconds.

In principle, you can not want more from such an engine. In the case of the Cruiser, everything is somewhat simpler, because the engine volume is almost a liter less, and the power in horses is a whole hundred behind. On the other hand, we have two options:

  • Nissan is more powerful, faster, faster;
  • The LC 200 is more economical (for example, to feed the Patrol you need about 25-30 liters of gasoline when driving around the city).

Paired with the engine is an exclusively automatic gearbox, while the transmission also has a manual mode.

True, it is important to say that Toyota is equipped with a much more efficient braking system. Despite this, during braking, the car leans forward, in the case of Patrol, it also leads to the side.

For many motorists, the choice between Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol is obvious, since the latter option has an independent suspension. But in practice, driving both vehicles is not so easy, although you can completely forget about various bumps in the road - even large pits and potholes are easily absorbed by the suspension.

Several outperforms Toyota and steering. It completely allows you to forget about all the vibrations, and the feedback with directional stability is on the level here. Nissan Patrol, on the other hand, has its own trump card - it has practically no lateral rolls, even on fairly sharp turns.

Permeability level

If we were talking about the conditions of Africa, where everything is covered with sand, then there could be no doubt about the leader - Nissan would have bypassed its competitor in 10 minutes. At the same time, in Russia it is hardly possible to find a track completely made of sand. Basically, the problem is mud, swampy terrain, as well as snow marks. However, the Patrol does not have a “dirt” program, although there are many others designed for off-road driving.

Multifunctionality of the device system

And here it is easy to compare cars. Although the Land Cruiser 200 has great functionality that allows you to overcome off-road, it is not so easy for the driver to reach the control system. Switching buttons quickly is difficult, especially if you rarely have to do this. But Nissan's two-stage washer, which is responsible for all the off-road systems present, is very convenient to use.

Even though Toyota has less ground clearance, it handles road breaks better. On the other hand, even if the bottom of Patrol crosses out pavement, it is almost impossible to damage the car in this way, since all systems are hidden and are located much higher than the frame.

Of the main disadvantages of vehicles, it is worth noting the poor patency on soft ground. Cars are massive, so they sag easily. An inexperienced driver can drive the vehicle in such a way that it will have to be pulled out with a powerful tractor.

Small technical tricks

As a rule, people who purchase such crossovers use them not only off-road, but also in urban areas.

For Patrol owners, it is important to know about one feature of the car, with which you can observe the street from above.

Thanks to the display of all four cameras on the screen, it will be possible to comprehensively assess the situation on the road and make the right decision during parking and other maneuvers.

What do we get as a result

So, if you want to choose Patrol or Land Cruiser 100 (or the two hundredth model), then it is difficult to knock out an unambiguous result. After a thorough assessment of cars, we can say that Patrol is the spiritual heirs of Toyota, but it surpasses its counterpart solely in terms of dynamics and cross-country ability. But in terms of comfort and handling, the cars are on the same level.

As a rule, Toyota LC 200 is preferred by people who are bigger and smoother, but Nissan is a great choice for those who like fast driving, fast acceleration and original decor. At the same time, it should be borne in mind that Kruzak will cost an order of magnitude more expensive - the most expensive Nissan is cheaper by 100 thousand of the basic Toyota equipment.
