Nissan x trail engine problems. Nissan X-Trail problems

family crossover Nissan X-Trail is unlikely to become a real headache for its owner - most of the problems, as it turned out, if they occur, are more of a cosmetic nature and will only annoy a little. What troubles a potential X-Trail buyer may face, we found out from official dealers and already established owners of the model. In particular, the "ixtrail leader" Alexei, who "went on a promotion", replacing Qashqai latest generation on a brand new X-Trail.

Unadjusted parking sensors

Such a phenomenon can hardly be called a malfunction - rather, an annoying feature, which, moreover, is quickly eliminated. Nevertheless, if you believe the reviews, many owners have encountered this feature. Regular parking sensors on the Nissan X-Trail often turn out to be alarmists - they begin to squeal at too great a distance from the obstacle, only confusing the driver and forcing him to contact the officials with a request to calibrate the sensor.

Another feature of them is that in snowfall they can take sticking snow as an obstacle and start signaling right on the go if the car is crawling in a traffic jam at low speed at that time. There are few options for solving problems, and all of them are not the most convenient: either stop and clear the parking sensors from snow, or climb into the jungle before the trip on-board computer and turn off the sensors before the start of the movement. A similar problem, however, is typical not only for the Nissan X-Trail, which is also noted in the Russian office of the brand. However, X-Trail complains about sensitive sensors with particular consistency.

Fog lights not adjusted

"Yes, fog lights are tin. They shine so that they are not visible ...", writes MaxTitan user on the x-trail-club.ru forum. Another nuance that "does not affect the speed", but once again visit the station Maintenance will force. Many owners, including our interlocutor Alexei, noted poorly adjusted foglights that look down and do not particularly illuminate anything. And sometimes not only foglights, but also dipped beam are bored without proper adjustment. Official dealers, however, in the vast majority of cases bring the light back to normal under warranty.

"The dipped beam on the device is about 8-10 mm lower than the permitted norm, but the PTFs are much more inundated, by about 50 mm if not more. In general, everything was raised to normal. Everything was done quickly and free of charge. The master said that there were a lot of calls on this issue...", - says on the forum x-trail-club.ru user AlexRoz.

Creaks in the front suspension

A classic problem: the front suspension makes noticeably more unnecessary sounds than we would like - and it’s unpleasant to drive to such musical accompaniment, and similar sounds clearly indicate that somewhere something may soon become unusable. As usual, the owners describe a variety of sounds in different ways, and they appear under different circumstances. Something crunches, rings, rustles or "blooms" and, of course, falls silent as soon as the owner arrives at the service center. What is it - suspiciousness, or really a problem?

Official dealers say that the reasons for extraneous sounds the suspension has more than enough, and it was difficult to identify any one of them, which has become mass. However, several of our interlocutors immediately suggested that the sound is associated with rubber anthers, and indeed with rubber suspension elements, and it begins to appear in cold weather.

The same opinion is shared in the Russian office of Nissan: brand experts note that such complaints speak of the so-called "northern problems" caused by operation at low temperatures, and they cannot be called characteristic of a particular brand or model - this is a feature of many cars.

The owners of the X-Trail, however, are hardly comforted by such explanations. “It is necessary, apparently, to write to Nissan.ru. Maybe a collective complaint. Otherwise, it’s really like on a cart. It creaks specifically. The dealer generally told me that this is a feature of rubber bands - creaking in cold weather. Some kind of nonsense .. .", - writes alter_ego, forum x-trail-club.ru.

Cracks in taillights

This defect may not immediately catch your eye, but it has already been found in a fairly large number of owners - even on short runs, thin thread-like cracks form on the glass of the rear lights, which can subsequently begin to grow. And they appear with inside, that is, stones or some careless actions of the owner are not to blame for this.

According to various assumptions, either the rigidity of the body is to blame (although the X-Trail seems to have no problems in this regard - our interlocutor Alexei notes that the Qashqai noticeably loses to its older brother in terms of body rigidity), or a poorly adjusted trunk lid in the opening, which when closing, it hits the lantern on a tangent and eventually damages it, or the poor quality of the lanterns themselves - some owners were not too lazy to examine the inside of the lantern on their own and noted not very good quality plastic parts.

One way or another, the case is most often recognized as a warranty case and the flashlight is replaced under warranty without any problems. But what is the reason and what is the real extent of the problem, Nissan does not disclose, referring to the confidentiality of such statistics. The company only emphasized once again that they are constantly working with customers, systematizing their comments and improving the quality of products and services provided. When contacting the official dealership Nissan any of the problems is usually fixed.

Of course, the owners of classmates-competitors can gloat and be completely sure that they definitely made the right choice and bought the most reliable and trouble-free car. But perfect cars does not exist, and the fact that your favorite model has not yet appeared in this section means only one thing: we just haven’t got to it yet.

(factory index T31) was created on a platform called Nissan C. The car turned out to be very popular, which is not surprising: for a little over a million mid-size SUV with a huge trunk. But is it worth looking for a "cunning", as the owners often call it, in the secondary market?

OFFICIAL VERSIONS

Most of those who appeared on Russian market X-Trails were imported official dealers. Until 2009, all cars sold by us were Japanese assembly. Later, they set up production at the Nissan plant in St. Petersburg. It is gratifying that absolutely all modifications, both diesel and gasoline, were officially sold with us. This is good, because there is a great chance of saving all service documentation. We also have right-hand drive versions, but - mainly beyond the Urals.

GENTLE SKIN

X‑Trail is endowed with a masculine appearance, but the paintwork of the body is surprisingly delicate. After a few years, the varnish begins to become cloudy and rubbed - like all external chrome. And chips on the paint remain even after light blows with small pebbles. Worst of all, if they appear on a non-galvanized roof: the places of "combat contacts" quickly rust.

The main source of unpleasant sounds from the outside is the rattling plastic panel under the wipers.

The interior is also not without "crickets". The main one settled in the cup holders of the lower part of the center console. Seat upholstery, whether it be fabric or leatherette, does not differ in durability and after two years it is rubbed off, losing its marketable appearance. Usually by this time the rim of the steering wheel also peels off. But the heater upsets even more. Three years later, his motor begins to whistle due to wear on the brush assembly and collector, which promises an early replacement of the assembly part (10,000 rubles).

Do not be surprised if at one “perfect” moment the audio system or cruise control stops responding to the buttons on the steering wheel, which means that the cable has failed. If it cannot be restored, a new one will cost 10,700 rubles.

For cars in expensive trim levels, it will not be superfluous to check the serviceability of the electric seats, especially the driver's one, otherwise you will have to fork out a couple of tens of thousands of rubles. The frame of the driver's seat creaks regardless of the configuration: the sounds of an old sofa are emitted by many copies older than three years.

The battery usually lasts no more than three or four years in our climate. There are no particular problems with the generator, and its breakdown is more an exception than a rule.

FOLLOW YOUR HEART

Range power units the "X-Trail" does not shine with variety - only in-line "fours". IN motor range gasoline engines The 2.0-liter MR20DE (140 hp) and the 2.5-liter QR25DE (169 hp) are paired with the two-liter M9R turbodiesel in two power options (150 or 173 hp).

More than half of the cars on the market are equipped with two-liter petrols - and they break down most often. Moreover, the owners of X-Trails of 2008 were in a worse situation: on some machines, the engines had a defect in the piston group and suffered from increased oil consumption. The piston was changed under warranty, so when choosing a car in 2008, it would be a good idea to check the service history.

In addition, after 140,000-150,000 kilometers, piston rings lie on some engines and oil consumption exceeds a liter per thousand kilometers. Decarbonizing does not always help, and then prepare 4,500 rubles for a set of piston rings and valve stem seals. Plus - what do you think? - five times more for work.

Be sure to inspect the engine underneath. After 60,000–70,000 kilometers, the sealant, which acts as a pan gasket, begins to leak lubricant. Re-pulling the pan bolts often helps, but sometimes the sealant needs to be re-applied.

Engine oil isn't the only fluid the X‑Trail is actively losing. If the antifreeze level drops regularly, check for leaks. expansion tank. A leak at the junction of the upper and lower parts is a signature feature of a two-liter unit. Less often, liquid oozes from under the thermostat gasket. If the antifreeze leaves, and no leaks are visible from the outside, things are bad. The MR20DE motor has thin-walled spark plug wells, and it is enough to overdo it a little when twisting so that the threads crack and antifreeze begins to enter the combustion chamber. Therefore, make it a rule to tighten the candles only with a torque wrench.

Otherwise, the two-liter unit is very similar to its older brother with the QR25DE index. If the car suddenly refused to start (this happens, as a rule, after 120,000-130,000 kilometers), then it's time to change the stretched timing chain (4,600 rubles).

Regardless of the type of engine, the fuel gauge is lying. Fortunately, the clogged and, as a result, sticky fuel level sensor is replaced separately (5600 rubles). And here fuel filter can be changed exclusively assembled with a gasoline pump (10,900 rubles). In order not to spend money on an expensive unit, for prevention, clean the filter mesh every 30,000-35,000 kilometers.

After 100,000–110,000 kilometers, the valves will have to be adjusted. You heard right: the gaps for all engines are set in the old fashioned way, by selecting the thickness of the pushers (adjusting washers are not provided). Not the most resistant engine mounts require replacement even up to 100,000 kilometers (6,500 rubles for the front and 2,400 rubles for the rear).

There are few diesel cars on our market - about 5% of the total. It's a pity! After all, the two-liter M9R turbodiesel has almost no weaknesses. Is it the return line? fuel system… Its tubes often burst (5400 rubles), and the sealing rings begin to let diesel fuel through.

GIVE THE BELT

On the X‑Trail installed "mechanics", "automatic" (6-speed) or CVT.

The traditional manual transmission is very tenacious. Perhaps her only ailment is that in cars of 2010, the clutch had to be changed for 30,000-40,000 kilometers due to a defective disc.

The six-speed "automatic" Jatco JF613E is found exclusively in tandem with a diesel engine, and this unit is an infrequent guest in our market - although six out of ten diesel vehicles equipped with an automatic. But in terms of reliability, Japanese hydromechanics is almost as good as conventional “mechanics” - provided that the oil is changed every 50,000–60,000 kilometers. Of course, the solenoids in the valve body are not as reliable as those of Jim's "automatic" GA6l45R (it is familiar not only to owners of American cars, but also to BMW lovers). However, thanks to a competent management program, they live no less, like the whole box as a whole.

Modifications with the Jatco JF011E variator must be recognized as the most expensive in operation. Not only repairs cost a pretty penny, but also maintenance work. For example, replacing an expensive Nissan oils CVT Fluid NS‑2 (every four years or every 60,000 kilometers) and oil filter will cost about 16,000 rubles with work. And the push belt, which requires replacement every 150,000 kilometers, will cost 20,000 rubles. But the cost savings can be even more expensive. If you miss an oil change, the wear products will jam the oil pump pressure relief valve (13,000 rubles) and the unit will be oil-starved. The belt will pull the cones of the variator (52,000 rubles). Together with the cones, the valve block will suffer (45,000 rubles) and stepper motor(6800 rubles). The failure of the last failure is usually accompanied by a hang in one gear.

hinges cardan shaft and CV joints are reliable, just be sure to monitor the condition of the anthers (5600 rubles per set). And do not forget that X‑Trail is an SUV, not an all-terrain vehicle. Long outings on serious off-road and frequent slippage can sentence the electromagnetic coupling. rear wheels(43,000 rubles).

LIGAMENT RUPTURE

The X-Trail suspension is similar to the Qashqai suspension in both design and problems. The weakest link is thrust bearings (1000 rubles each). Dirt and sand entering the bearing wear it out over 20,000–30,000 kilometers. But this applies to cars of the first three years of production. Later, the assembly was finalized, extending the life of the bearings to 100,000 kilometers.

Racks (2000 rubles per set) and stabilizer bushings serve a little longer than 40,000 kilometers roll stability(1100 rubles). To replace the latter, you will have to remove the subframe, on which it would be nice to change the silent blocks at the same time. For versions with a 2.5‑liter engine, they are not sold separately, but similar parts from a two-liter modification will do. Silent blocks and ball joints of the front lower arms(6400 rubles each) last up to 80,000–100,000 kilometers. On this run, the turn of wheel bearings comes up, which are changed only together with the hub (6400 rubles each).

In the rear suspension, the most hassle is with the lower shock absorber bushings, especially in cars of the first years of production. After restyling in 2010, the bushings were finalized, and the sore was left behind. Knocking on the supports and plastic casings of the front shock absorbers? This feature is easier to put up with than trying to eliminate it.

The steering rack is quite reliable and does not start knocking before 140,000-150,000 kilometers. When turning the steering wheel, the steering shaft cardan shafts (4400 rubles) often make a sound and its rubber seals creak. Silicone lubrication has already become a ritual for X-Trail owners.

Reliable and brake system. For some cars, the ABS block failed - most often after storming fords and other mud baths.

Despite childhood illnesses, the X‑Trail T31 series has become a real bestseller among crossovers. It is very tempting to get a lot of car for relatively little money.

Comparable only for the price Mitsubishi Outlander. Korean competitors Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe is completely more expensive by 40,000-50,000 rubles.

X‑Trail loses less than 9% in price per year. And if you decide to buy it, it's better to aim for the version with "mechanics" and a 2.5-liter engine.

The ideal option is a diesel engine with a classic "automatic", but you will not find such cars during the day with fire. And a more affordable automatic version with a CVT, even in good condition, can require considerable operating costs.

WORD TO THE SELLER

Artem MELNICHUK, director of used car sales salon

Sales are not clear. I can’t say that the X‑Trail is a slow car. Buyers love it for its large trunk, spacious salon and good crossover patency. The fastest sold cars with "mechanics". The electromagnetic clutch and especially the variator are alarming for many: possible repair will cost a tidy sum (although the variator does not necessarily require repair).

Another great advantage machine is that over the years its resale value decreases very slowly, if not at all. But if the car has an opaque service history, it is almost impossible to sell it at an affordable price.

WORD TO THE OWNER

Lev TIKHON, owner of the Nissan X‑Trail crossover (2011, 2.0 L, manual, mileage 46,000 km)

This is my second X‑Trail. The main criteria for choosing a car were a spacious interior, high ground clearance and low price.

The first X‑Trail, produced in 2007, lived with me for four years, during which I wound 200,000 kilometers. The biggest trouble happened on the 63rd thousand, when it crumbled rear gear. It was replaced under warranty, but the dealer had to drive 250 kilometers. The rest of the car was very reliable. In addition to the gearbox, I only changed the thrust bearings and the stabilizer struts. And the clutch at the mechanical box did leave 200 thousand!

When it came time to change the car, there were no questions - only X‑Trail! Therefore, in 2011, I became the owner of an updated "cunning". Like the previous one, a two-liter engine and a manual gearbox. Yes, and the package is the same. But the assembly is already Russian, and, in my opinion, it is worse than the Japanese one: they obviously saved on materials and some little things. But I still think that the car is good, especially on long trips. The voyage to Greece only strengthened me in this opinion.

THE WORD TO THE TECHNICAL SPECIALIST

Stanislav OLYUSHIN, master-acceptor of the technical center "Flagman-Avto"

Like most crossovers, the Nissan X‑Trail is a complex car and requires a lot of maintenance. The biggest problem with a two-liter gasoline engine is the short resource of the timing chain. I recommend changing it every 100,000 kilometers. For work, excluding the cost of spare parts, you will have to pay about 12,000 rubles.

The diesel engine has problems with the rear circuit of the vacuum pump and the injection pump pressure reducing valve.

The suspension is too stiff, which affects its reliability. Stabilizer struts and ball bearings run an average of 30,000-40,000 kilometers. But you won't be charged much for suspension repairs. For example, a complete overhaul rear suspension will cost 7000 rubles (excluding the cost of spare parts). Maintenance also cannot be called very expensive - an average of 5000–7000 rubles, including all consumables.

CVT is Nissan's most vulnerable unit to criticism X-Trail Second generation, produced in 2007-2014. This is evidenced by a variety of sources. Let the reliability of some of them be in doubt, but there is no smoke without fire, especially since the very principle of operation of the variator, which makes it possible for the chain to slip along the sliding halves of the driving and driven pulleys, does not inspire confidence in the durability of such a gearbox.

However, the world did not converge on the variator like a wedge. In addition to it, the X-Trail of the production years in question was equipped with mechanical box and hydromechanical "automatic". So there is an alternative to the CVT, which does not turn it into an insurmountable obstacle that makes buying an X-Trail a guaranteed risky one.

But what other troubles are expected during the operation of this model? We will have to find out during the examination of the technical condition of the X-Trail, carried out jointly with the specialists of Bosch Service Titan-Motors, which is part of the Belarusian Bosch Service network.

The object of verification was released in 2011. The car, by the way, is just equipped with a variator. Actually, the desire of the owner to change the oil in the gearbox was the reason for the appearance of the X-Trail at the service station, since in the district center where the owner lives, there were no services that would agree to take on the maintenance of the variator, which forced him to go to the capital.

So we will return to the box, but while the car is in the parking lot in front of the service station, we will inspect it appearance. Given that the declared mileage of the car is 100.158 km, comments on the condition paintwork no - small abrasions on the bumpers only indicate that the car was not idle in the garage.

One of the main claims against X-Trail body, consists in the possibility of corrosion in the area of the decorative lining on back door above the license plate as a result of paint abrasion due to lining vibrations. "Suffered" by this mainly cars of the first years of production. On the tested X-Trail, this problem is not observed. What is the situation with the rusting of the body from below - we will find out when we drive the car onto the lift, where we are heading.

In general, not bad. Corrosion affected mainly the suspension parts, driveshaft and fasteners, but as for the surfaces of the bottom visible to the eye, then applied to them protective covering copes with its functions so far.

It’s a pity you can’t smear the muffler with mastic, but it is by no means at its last gasp yet.

In the back multi-link suspension It is noteworthy that both trailing arms have definitely changed recently. In fact, according to experts, the failure of their hinges before a run of 100 thousand km is not typical for the X-Trail. The estimated cost of the original lever assembly is 260-390 USD. It is doubtful that manufacturers of non-genuine suspension parts have already mastered the production of this item.

If there is something up to the specified mileage behind and is obliged to remind of itself, then only the stabilizer struts and bushings of the lower shock absorber mount. The rest usually last longer.

The front suspension is single-link. And in it, except for the struts and bushings of the stabilizer, up to 100 thousand km, nothing else should bother. True, on machines until 2010, the reliability of the shock absorber support bearings was not flawless, but after refinement, their service life increased markedly, they should nurse a "hundred". But the resource of wheel bearings, front and rear, as it was, remained unpredictable. Therefore, it is better not to fly into the pits at speed.

The X-Trail was equipped with 2.0 and 2.5 liter petrol engines, as well as two 2.0-liter turbodiesels. According to the workers of the station, gasoline engines are very reliable, they did not have to deal with malfunctions. Experts did not dare to repeat the same about diesel engines, so their opinion is as follows: you can buy a gasoline X-Trail without hesitation, diesel - if the runs are such that fuel savings will cover the costs of possible repairs.

There is an explanation for the mess going on under the hood of our ward: the car was recently imported from Russia, with the onset of fine days, the engine compartment will be given the proper look.

But what about the Jatco variator that was equipped with the X-Trail? Indirectly, problems with it can be judged by the behavior of the unit while driving, but the owner has no complaints about it. The second sign is the condition of the oil. It is it that is the carrier of the wear products that appear due to the chain slipping along the pulleys. The oil drained from the variator was transparent, had a completely transmission smell.

According to the specialists of the station, provided that the car will not be used off-road, X-Trail variators reliable enough. It is important to prevent slipping, and off-road this is a common thing. Despite the increased ground clearance, four-wheel drive and the appearance of a real jeep, the CVT X-Trail is not an SUV, but an urban crossover. The owner must be aware of what kind of car he drives.

I agree with the specialists of the service station in one thing - the operating conditions really affect the reliability of the variator. Besides the fact that it is desirable to refrain from off-road driving, abrupt changes in driving patterns that are characteristic of an aggressive driving style should also be avoided. However, even with this, the aggregate cannot be called a resource unit. By careful driving, maintenance no later than 60 thousand km, you can achieve trouble-free operation of the variator up to a mileage of 200 thousand km, but then the likelihood of a repair, which is very unpleasant due to the high cost, increases dramatically.

By the way, more than 4 liters of fresh oil entered the variator, the cost of 5 liters of oil at the service station amounted to 726 thousand rubles.

In what we were unanimous - in the high reliability of auxiliary electrical equipment. My colleagues did not encounter his problems at all, and the cases of malfunction of the passenger compartment fan electric motors and the power window drive that I knew from other sources did not have a regular character.

What is more gratifying, our ward did not confirm the rumors that the upholstery and steering wheel trim materials are not resistant to abrasion and lose their marketable appearance after several years of operation. We did not see anything like this in the checked X-Trail.

Owner's opinion:

"We bought a car in January of this year in Russia. We followed in the footsteps of my friend - he was the first to buy an X-Trail. The same year of manufacture, the same engine. I looked at his car - I liked it. True, he has a car on the "mechanics" ", and we bought it with a CVT. The X-Trail rides great with it, I like it. And then time will tell whether this is the right choice or it was necessary to look for the "mechanics" option more persistently."

Our verdict

The overall reliability of the second generation X-Trail is no reason not to recommend this vehicle to individuals who consider the minimum possible breakdowns main advantage vehicle. Doubtful only buying a version with a variator. Such an X-Trail had to be bought new, and not with a mileage of 100 thousand km and a lack of clarity on how the previous owner operated and serviced the car. And what kind of SUV is it that off-road driving should be avoided?
