SsangYong Kyron. Russian assembly

I managed to visit the assembly shop of the Sollers - Far East plant. I looked like, took pictures of how cars are assembled. The main purpose of the visit was this SsangYong New Actyon, a car put into serial production at the Primorsky plant.

There were quite a few people, foreign guests, the press, the plant authorities and many others gathered here.
In order not to lose anyone, everyone was divided into groups and assigned a personal guide.

JSC "Severstal-auto" - the official importer and manufacturer of SsangYong in Russia, announces the start of production of a new midsize SUV SsangYong Kyron. The car will appear in showrooms official dealers at the end of August 2007.

Thanks to new design solutions in the design of the front and rear, Kyron has almost completely changed its image. Updated body geometry, completely reshaped headlights and taillights, exquisite false radiator grille, new bumpers, as well as other exterior changes made the new SsangYong Kyron more elegant and endowed the car with an individual urban chic.

Initially in salons dealer centers the new Kyron will ship with gasoline engine 2.3 l (150 hp, produced under license from Mercedes-Benz), which can be aggregated with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The transmission of the SUV is equipped with a plug-in all-wheel drive system (Part-Time 4WD), which has an increased and reduced range of gears.

Equipped with modern systems active safety: anti-lock braking system - ABC, stabilization system and exchange rate stability- ESP (including a rollover prevention system - ARP and an auxiliary braking system - BAS), a hill descent assistance system - HDC, combined with an ultra-rigid steel frame, front and side airbags, precise steering, the new Kyron is the safest among mid-size SUVs.

What's more, the time-tested suspension, with an independent double-wishbone front setup and a rear axle with multi-link suspension provides new SsangYong Kyron reliable handling on all types pavement. This ratio represents the best compromise between cross-country ability, precise handling and high vehicle reliability.

There are not so many major changes in the interior - they can be compared with light strokes of the master, giving a finished look to the work of the student. With the help of small improvements, the car designers created a cozy and respectable atmosphere inside the SUV, while maintaining the well-balanced ergonomics of the cabin. Yes, the backlight color has been changed. dashboard and the screen of the climate control system - the green color has given way to a more pleasing amber. The overall tone of the interior trim has been updated, the neutral gray color has been replaced with a more strict black. Minor changes have affected the design of the center console.

With a rich package and excellent specifications, the cost of the basic version of the novelty is 802 thousand rubles, and in maximum configuration model 2.3 with an automatic transmission will cost 977,000 rubles. With attractive design, excellent value for money, large capacity and versatile nature of the new SUV, it is expected to become SsangYong's best seller in Russia. By the end of 2007, more than 80 authorized dealers will be engaged in its sale and service support.

In 1976, the company changes its name to Dong-A Motor. The development of new off-road vehicles designed to carry 4-6 people using diesel engines is underway.

The production of Sanyeng SUVs for Russian buyers is carried out at the Sollers factories in Naberezhnye Chelny and Vladivostok.

Today, in Russia and the CIS countries, Ssang Yong cars are in steady demand. The following models of the Korean-Indian manufacturer are available in Russian car dealerships: Actyon, Kyron, Rexton and the Actyon Sport pickup truck.
Korando (twin of the Russian Actyon), Actyon and Actyon Sports, New Actyon Sports, New Kyron and Rexton II are available to Ukrainian buyers. Perhaps in the near future, SsangYong executive sedans will be added to Korean SUVs sold in the post-Soviet space.

In Russia, SsangYong Kyron was received quite warmly. Against the background of competitors, it stood out for a very moderate cost. And the assembly at Sollers enterprises in Naberezhnye Chelny (since the end of 2006) and Vladivostok (since 2010) only consolidated its success in the market. Customers were impressed by the powerful off-road potential of the "Korean". Four-wheel drive implemented according to the Part Time system, without center differential. Under normal driving conditions, the torque results rear wheels(2H mode), and on off-road or slippery surfaces it is rigidly connected front axle(4H mode). It can be used at speeds up to 80 km/h. Russian Kyrons are generously equipped. In the basic version of the Original all-wheel drive SUV (there are also rear-wheel drive versions) comes with ABS and EBD, air conditioning, two airbags, fog lights and heated front seats, electric windows and mirrors, as well as alloy wheels by 16 inches. The Comfort version is complemented by climate control, a 2DIN audio system with a CD / MP3 player and roof rails. On the expensive versions of Comfort +, Elegance and Luxury, an ESP stabilization system and four airbags were installed. And the richest versions of Elegance and Luxury flaunt a leather interior and power front seats. Luxury still has a sunroof and rear sofa heating.

In the front spring suspension, both the upper and lower ball bearings (1300 rubles each) are weak, which sometimes did not nurse even 10 thousand km. Reinforced parts serve up to 50 thousand km. After two or three years, as a rule, the rear springs sag (2200 rubles each) - the front ones from Rexton or the rear ones from Chevy Niva are suitable. There have been breakdowns rear axle(68,000 rubles) after 50 thousand km. In the steering, the tips are short-lived (1300 rubles each). The rail itself is considered non-repairable. But unofficials can tighten the washers and replace the seals for 3000 rubles. - enough for 20–30 thousand km. And by 50 thousand km, the steering shaft cardan loosens up (from 3,500 rubles). refused vacuum booster brakes, but after 2009 a valve with a filter was installed in the system, and the problem went away.

From debut to facelift

Just two years after the model was released, in 2007, the Koreans upgraded the SsangYong Kyron. However, this is not surprising. The design of the debutant was too defiantly perceived. On the updated car, three horizontal slots under the headlights were eliminated, and the radiator grille was enlarged and designed in the style of Mercedes-Benz. Installed another bumper. Round foglights gave way to rectangular-oblong ones, and more traditional ones appeared instead of taillights in the form of knightly shields. The salon remained practically unchanged - only the center console was trimmed with carbon-look inserts.
