    Lada Largus Cross: a lot of space for little money

    By present times a roomy station wagon with a price of 529,900 rubles looks like a very attractive offer. And even though the minimum declared price tag does not always have something to do with reality, Lada Largus has been one of the strongest offers on the Russian car market in the category of inexpensive but roomy carts for several years now.

    Buyers are offered two main options: an all-metal commercial van (from 469,900 rubles) and a passenger car with glazing (from 529,900 rubles). Each of them has several possible configurations.

    This time we tested the pseudo-crossover version of the Cross in the maximum degree of equipment with seven seats for 699,000 rubles. By the way, there is also a five-seater option. It is cheaper and costs 674,900 rubles.

    The car is based on the industry-famous B0 platform. Her first-born was the previous generation, although today a lot of other models are built on it:, and, of course, Largus. The cart is simple and unpretentious, but reliable. In fact, Largus is the first generation Logan station wagon. Moreover, this is not an invention of AvtoVAZ, passenger and commercial cars are also sold in Europe under the name of the Romanian brand Dacia Logan MCV. But the pseudo-crossover version of Cross was invented precisely in Togliatti at a time when Bo Andersson had just taken the helm of AvtoVAZ.

    Cross run cross

    Despite the Cross nameplate and plastic body kit around the perimeter, this Largus is not really a crossover.

    Lada Largus Cross does not have all-wheel drive, and the geometric cross-country ability is not ideal due to the extended wheelbase, even despite the increased ground clearance by 25 mm (170 instead of 145 mm).

    The suspension of the Cross is raised by 20 mm compared to the usual Largus, and larger wheels gave another 5 mm. Thus, the ground clearance has increased from 145 to 170 mm. Visually, this helped Largus.

    Built on an elongated Logan chassis, it stands out with an unexpected insertion between back door and arch. But the plastic body kit covered this absurdity and made the car more mature and proportional.

    Perhaps someday Largus Cross will also receive a stabilization system exchange rate stability. First, it can be useful in winter, when a fairly light station wagon can accidentally slip on a winding road. And, secondly, it could be an off-road assistant when the electronics simulate a front differential lock. Without it, it is enough for Largus to put one wheel on the ice, and he will not go further.

    In our experiment, Largus Cross did not even leave one platform, its rollers were spinning under one wheel at a speed of 60 km/h, while the other wheels were dead on the pavement. That's what the lack of a stability control system means (look at the video).

    Surprisingly, with a declared ground clearance of 170 mm, Largus Cross drove our experimental tire 200 mm high.

    Slippery surfaces or stones are not obstacles for Largus. He can walk through such areas.

    Active driving on a primer is easy for Cross. Thanks to the energy-intensive suspension with long travel. Another problem with a long wheelbase is the turning circle and maneuverability. To turn and, moreover, to turn around, Largus needs more free space around.

    Maneuvering on a narrow road, we simply got stuck, dipping our rear end into a ravine. Spinning wheels in such a situation is pointless.

    Loganovsky motor for Cross is small.

    The Logan 1.6 motor, even with a 16-valve head, seems completely weak in numbers, but with a quiet ride with an incomplete load, it is enough. Save those close to you gear ratios in a box and a short main pair. On an ordinary Largus, without the Cross prefix, the situation should be even better, since the wheels of a raised car are larger, and therefore heavier, and for a small motor this is a noticeable load.

    But it is worth leaving for the Moscow Ring Road and Largus can hardly keep up with the flow. At 120 km / h in the cabin it becomes noisy primarily from high speed motor. The hand reaches out to turn on the sixth gear, but, of course, it is not. Yes, the maximum speed of 165 km / h for this car is rather fantastic. I don’t want to drive it faster than 120-130 km / h, besides, the consumption grows catastrophically.

    With a quiet ride, Largus Cross can consume 8-9 liters per hundred.

    Very soon, Largus should switch to the VAZ engine 21129 - this is a 1.6-liter volume and a power of 106 hp. The motor is familiar to us primarily from Vesta. The box will remain French, but the gear ratios of the third, fourth and fifth gears have been changed in it. The main pair will also become noticeably longer. In Tolyatti they promise that at the same time acceleration dynamics will improve, fuel consumption will decrease and the cabin will become quieter. optimistic statements.

    Test Lada Largus Cross as a truck

    The distance between the axles of 2905 mm allows you to comfortably sit on the second row of seats or load bulky goods on the roof, since Largus Cross is equipped with powerful railings.

    Compared to the rear sofa is completely different. The increased base allowed it to be pushed forward and now the passengers are not squeezed between the wheel arches. And thanks to the high roof, there is really a lot of space above your head, and especially for rear passengers even a storage compartment is provided. So it is a pleasure to go on a long journey with a large company on such a car. Everyone will be spacious and there is enough space for luggage. The main thing is to be patient, as this trip will hardly be fast.

    In the test configuration, you can sit on the third row. Moreover, it is comfortable to sit even for an adult. There is enough space for the head and legs, there are cup holders, and in addition, the windows open slightly.

    But the 7-seater version seemed to us a mystery. Trunk volume is reduced to a ridiculous 136 liters, so this is an option only for city taxis or to drop colleagues to the subway.

    To get to the third row, you need to fold the second row of seats. This is done manually and in several steps. In addition, the reclined seat is not fixed. Secondly, if the average passenger is sitting on the second row sofa, his seat belt coming out of the roof puts pressure on the neck of the third row riders, which is not comfortable.

    Such an option is also possible, when some of the seats are folded, something long is riding in the cabin, for example, a windsurfing board, and passengers are sitting one after another in three rows.

    The trunk in the 5-seater version is simply huge - an honest 560 liters to the level of the windows. If you fold the second row of seats, its volume will increase to 2350 liters. It is also important that the luggage opening is designed for loading. The car received double-leaf doors to the compartment, opening both at 90 and 180 degrees, and the opening itself was of a regular, square shape. The test Largus even fit a huge windsurfing board 264 cm high.

    Swing doors are a real gift for those who like to load the car in full.

    And yet, our choice is the five-seater version. It is more practical, because it is able to take on board five people along with their luggage, a seven-seater car will make you travel light. It is interesting that you have to choose not between models, but between modifications. This once again proves that in the category of an inexpensive and roomy wagon, Largus, in fact, has no competitors.

    But excuse me, but what about Vesta station wagon, is it not a competitor, you ask. In our opinion, no, Vesta is more modern and dynamic, and Largus is much more practical and knows how to jump through puddles.

    Let me remind you, the video test of Lada Largus Cross is below, the technical specifications are at the end of the article.

    2. Five-speed mechanical box gears.
    3. For 100 km, a car consumes nine liters of gasoline.
    4. The car can accelerate to 165 km / h.

    Naturally, the Russian pseudo-crossover has its pros and cons, but a more objective opinion can be drawn from real reviews car owners.

    Reviews

    Most owners of Lada Largus Cross, whose reviews have already appeared on the network, indicate that the model has proven itself as a family car. Nevertheless, drivers also point to the disadvantages of Largus Cross.

    Reviewed by Evgeny Naumenko, Novosibirsk

    I recently purchased Largus Cross for the following reasons: I needed a roomy family car, it should be adapted to our road conditions, Toyota or Mitsubishi, I just can’t pull it financially. Promising were the guarantees of the manufacturer Largus Cross regarding the requests of the car, they say, it has only nine liters. in mixed mode. I can note that in practice this indicator is not exceeded, which for such big car pleasant enough.

    The Cross salon is comfortable, although the safety performance is worse than that of foreign counterparts. The disadvantages can be attributed to poor sound insulation, after about a hundred km there is some feeling of discomfort.

    If in general the Largus interior can be considered spacious and comfortable, then why didn’t the manufacturers equip the car with a cabin filter? when the air conditioner is running, road dust begins to enter the cabin, which is quite unpleasant. In vain I did not pay attention to this nuance when buying Largus.

    But in general, I am satisfied with the car, I do not plan to sell it yet.

    I bought at the end of 2015 pseudo-crossover Largus Cross from the salon. About 700 thousand had to be paid for the seven-seater version. But this is normal, given that the car is new. I didn’t want to take a used foreign car for the same money, although my friends convinced me that it was necessary to do so.

    With technical specifications Largus got acquainted in detail, the appearance and interior were quite satisfactory. Today I skated two thousand on Lada, and I can identify the following jambs of the manufacturer:

    • over time, the windows began to fog up terribly, so I had to remove the factory soundproofing that blocked the ventilation valves;
    • in winter, in severe frosts, two doors and the back row are hard to come off, it turned out that the upper seal sticks to the metal. The problem is solved with the use of silicone spray.

    The undoubted advantage of Cross is reliability and excellent cross-country ability. I am completely satisfied with the gearbox, especially since it is also given a manufacturer's warranty.

    In 2016, he purchased Largus Cross in a seven-seat configuration and with full equipment, that is, a suite, for 655 thousand rubles. Since then, the machine has traveled a little less than 200 thousand km. During this time, he made a clear opinion about the miracle of the domestic automotive industry Largus Cross.

    It is immediately felt that the manufacturer has put the indestructibility of the car as a priority, which is very important when taking into account the peculiarities of our roads. The gearbox is very reliable, the motor has never junk during all this time. The ride is quite soft even on our imperfect roads, although the car moves with some effort on the rut, while the steering wheel “walks”, so you have to hold it well.

    As a family car, Largus Cross fully justifies itself. The interior is spacious, the seats are comfortable in all three rows. Each chair has seat belts.

    I am also satisfied with the electronics, it seems to me that in the luxury version, the equipment may well compete with foreign medium-sized options. price category, for example - Renault or Skoda, when driving you feel like a white man, so I put respect to the manufacturer.

    Bought in 2016 Largus Cross maximum configuration. I work in the transportation industry. I think that as a taxi the car is very good, it looks respectable, the ergonomics of the cabin and the level of comfort are pleasantly pleasing. Among the positive characteristics I can note:

    • convenience and comfort in management;
    • economy compared to some foreign analogues, for example - Lacetti;
    • great suspension, one feels reliability and thoughtfulness;
    • ground clearance is completely satisfied, you can drive on almost any road;
    • I can’t say anything bad about the gearbox, it is perfectly rebuilt in urban traffic jams.

    And here are the cons:

    • inconvenient location of the power window buttons;
    • with the engine turned off, the headlights continue to work while the car was new, I constantly forgot to turn them off, the battery ran out a couple of times;
    • No cabin filter when the roads are dry, dust starts to get inside, you have to constantly clean;
    • downhill with a heavy load, the car rides with difficulty, this is in slippery road conditions. The problem disappeared when I changed the tires from demi-season to winter.

    Reviewed by Pavel Zakharchenko, Voronezh

    He was going to buy Lada Kalina Cross, but after a test drive, Largus Cross left his choice on this particular car, even though he had to pay about 100 thousand more for it. Among the distinguishing characteristics I can note:

    • reliable motor Renault, which is not on Kalina;
    • the interior is comfortable and very roomy, the same can be said about luggage compartment;
    • Due to the 17-inch wheels, the ground clearance increases, which automatically makes driving on our roads more comfortable.

    In general, the car creates the impression of a foreign car, but it costs much less. Happy fuel economy. Decided to borrow a car from official dealer, preferred the seven-seat option, since I have a large family and we like to travel long distances. To date, the car has driven a little more than two hundred thousand km, there were no serious breakdowns, only minor wiring problems, but they were quickly eliminated under warranty.

    In general, I am satisfied with the car, in the spring of 2016 I bought a seven-seater Largus Cross with a complete set. I travel a lot and far, I have to carry significant loads for such a car. Nevertheless, I can note the excellent build quality, the suspension and transmission are pleasing. I can compare the level of comfort while driving with the Chevrolet Lacetti. High ground clearance is an excellent solution for our roads.

    The disadvantages of Largus Cross are, first of all, the absence all-wheel drive, since front-wheel drive is sometimes not enough for an impressive pseudo crossover, especially on winter roads when fully loaded. AT hard frost The wipers don't do a good job.

    On the road, the car is stable, the box overeating perfectly adapts to various conditions, both on the highway and in the city. I think Largus Cross good analogue foreign analogues.

    In 2015, I purchased a five-seater version of the Lada Largus Cross in the minimum configuration. It suits me quite well, as it includes a full electronic package, fog lights, air conditioner, front airbags and many others. pleasant trifles. I took the five-seater Largus Cross because I think it is more convenient to drive, I think the seven-seater Lada is too long, which is not very convenient in urban conditions.

    I immediately liked the soft and obedient suspension, the automatic gearbox also pleases with its work, including in traffic jams. The car feels safe and good quality assemblies. I like that the car has a Renault engine. The parking sensors make life much easier, since I personally am not strong in parking.

    The disadvantages of Lada Argus Cross can be attributed to the fact that the car hardly starts in the cold. Sometimes there is a feeling that the engine is diesel. A little disappointing is the fact that the car is sold only in front-wheel drive.

    Feedback from Viktor Zadorozhny, St. Petersburg

    I recently bought a slightly used Largus Cross 2015 release, the mileage at the time of sale was a little more than 100,000 km. Seven-seater configuration, volume 1.6 liters, power - 105 horses. As a family car, Lada Largus Cross is completely satisfied, as it has a huge interior, a large roomy trunk, roof bars that allow you to mount an additional trunk.

    The build quality is excellent, there are enough high-quality materials in the cabin, which is unusual for Lada. Nevertheless, the manufacturer has tried, and there is a feeling of being inside a foreign car.

    Consumption - about 9 liters. for a hundred. Front-wheel drive Largus Cross does not always cope with driving over rough terrain and in snowy conditions. But the high ground clearance somewhat smoothes this shortcoming.

    Reviewed by Anatoly Gusev, Moscow

    I recommend Lada Largus Cross as a family car. First of all, because of the large cabin with comfortable seats and the reliability of the car. When traveling long distances, I do not worry that something will fail on the road.

    Pros: spaciousness, high power, soft suspension, fuel economy.

    Cons: slight roll in corners, lack of complete set with all-wheel drive and diesel unit The soundproofing of the cabin leaves much to be desired.

    We meet by clothes

    There are not so many external differences between the Largus. And only by looking closely, you can determine that the cross-version is slightly higher than the donor. She has unpainted bumpers with gray inserts on their lower part, as well as additional black lining of the wheel arches and sills. Regular Largus is equipped with 15-inch wheels, and 16-inch ones are put on. That's just spare wheel both have the same, 15-inch, so in the first case the spare tire is full-size, and in the second it is only in the status of a dokat. Both vehicles are in our maximum trim levels: Largus Cross by Luxe, and regular Largus by Luxe Prestige. Actually, the prefix Prestige means only alloy wheels instead of stamped. But the cross modification has alloy wheels installed by default.

    The interiors are identical, but the upholstery of the seats of the pseudo-crossover is animated by intersecting lines. On the center console of the Cross there are gray plastic inserts, the same on the doors. By the way, a design option is available with similar bright orange inserts. And without any extra charges.

    Pleasant discrepancies

    During the measurements, it turned out that the ground clearance of the Cross version is as much as 210 mm (under the protection of the engine crankcase). For a car that, according to the idea of the creators, should regularly move off the asphalt, this is not bad. The usual Largus had a clearance of 182 mm under a similar shield engine compartment. By the way, the manufacturer claims that when fully loaded, including passengers in the last, third row of seats, the ground clearance will be at least 170 and 145 mm, respectively.

    Our Cross turned out to be 35 kg heavier than the usual Largus. But one plastic body kit that gives brutality and protects paintwork cars from scratches when driving over rough terrain, it cannot weigh so much. Some of these 35 kg can be attributed to the wheels bigger size. Perhaps there are other technical solutions that give the model additional mass?

    We drive the cars on lifts, remove the wheels and carry out an inspection with passion. Despite the seeming identity, differences were nevertheless found. Largus with the Cross prefix has original A-pillars. In particular, the cup for the spring is welded to the body 30 mm higher than the station wagon. Including due to this, increased ground clearance is provided. By the way, both models are equipped with Monroe racks at the factory. The rear gas-filled shock absorbers are also different. This is confirmed by identification numbers. The bodies and shock absorber rods of Largus Cross are longer, and the length of the rear suspension springs has also been increased.

    As I was told at VAZ, when working with the suspension of the cross-version, the engineers had the task of preserving the suspension settings of the usual Largus as much as possible, and they succeeded. In terms of handling and ride comfort, the cars are very similar. At least the average driver is unlikely to feel the difference in the behavior of the car on a good road. But when driving on a primer or broken asphalt, Largus Cross slightly wins in terms of smoothness due to the increased wheel rolling radius and wider tires.

    Cross economy

    It is unlikely that there will be conditions in which the geometric cross-country ability of cars will play a decisive role. Still, the difference in ground clearance is not so significant. More important, I think, are fuel consumption indicators. The “raised” Largus spends 1.4 liters more for every hundred kilometers in the city and 0.8 liters more when driving on the highway compared to a station wagon without the Cross prefix. At least that's what the manufacturer claims. But this is already a noticeable difference, especially over a long distance. What is it due to? Given that the gear ratios of the cross-modification gearbox have not changed, it remains to rely only on aerodynamics, wheel size and an additional 35 kg of curb weight.

    Summarize. If you want a little better ride and comfort, or if there is a need to regularly wade through fields and small bushes without damaging the body, take the Largus Cross. If every penny counts, a station wagon will do - it is both cheaper and a little more economical to operate. By the way, Largus without the Cross prefix is available with, which can be fed with 92nd gasoline. But the 102-horsepower sixteen-valve installed on test cars is designed for 95th gasoline.

    As for sales statistics, out of 26,460 Largus sold in 11 months of 2016, 50% of sales fell on the regular Largus. Another 30% of buyers preferred the Cross version, and the remaining 20% chose the van.

    Hello. I thought about buying a car and decided to stop at a domestic one, after all, at such prices a new foreign car difficult to buy, and in repair, if anything, ours is cheaper. I'm thinking about Lada Largus or Lada Largus Cross, I can't decide which is better?

    What is the main difference? I will ride mostly in the city, sometimes on federal highways. Can you help me decide?

    Since its appearance on automotive market Russian crossover Largus has undergone some changes. It also differs from the usual Largus. True, these differences are minimal, but they are still there.

    The car, as before, has front-wheel drive. A crossover was built on the platform of the usual Largus. The ground clearance of the Largus Cross is 2.5 centimeters higher base car. It is about 17.5 centimeters when fully loaded. clearance, of course, does not make the crossover an SUV, but at the same time it gives certain advantages when driving on domestic roads.

    The Largus Cross also has improved suspension.

    Namely: new shock absorbers and increased springs are installed in front. Also, wheel disks are used large (R16). Thanks to the wheels it was possible. The rest of the lift is a suspension upgrade.

    Engines

    The crossover has fog rails. The car can be produced in a five-seater and seven-seater body version. The Largus Cross has unpainted bumpers front and rear. In front, the bumper together with the radiator grille form a kind of mask, by which the crossover can be distinguished from the usual Largus. Also at the bottom there was a decorative overlay on the bumper, which imitates protection.

    The biggest difference can be seen from the side. Here you can note the plastic lining on the crossover. You can also tell a car by its nameplate.
