Advantages and disadvantages of Ravon Gentra 2017-2018 identified based on reviews real owners. More detailed pros and cons of Ravon Gentra 1.5 with mechanics and automatic can be found in the stories below:

Owner reviews

The equipment is not bad even by today's standards. There is a full power package, air conditioning, sunroof, heated wiper area. Unfortunately, the assembly is not of very high quality, or the body stamps have already worn out. The gaps between the body parts are uneven, all doors close with different forces. I tried to fix it myself, nothing worked.

At the same time, the interior is neatly assembled, although the plastic is hard everywhere. Ergonomics is not bad, the interior is spacious, even the three of us are not cramped in the back seat. Large trunk, back rear seats stacked separately.

Perhaps the only thing that betrays the solid age of the car is the multimedia system. Even in the top-end configuration, there is a simple radio tape recorder here, you don’t have any touchscreens, not even a USB connector. Analog gauges are easy to read, but at the same time the trip computer shows only the total and daily mileage.

In general, the Ravon Gentra is a good, roomy and quite comfortable car for its money, but it is already clear that he does not have long to live on the assembly line.

I don’t know whether to attribute this to pluses or minuses, but Ravon’s dealer network is weak. At the same time, the car is simple in design, there are many private workshops that specialize in the repair and maintenance of cars of this brand, and there are no problems with spare parts.

Vyacheslav, review of Ravon Gentra 1.5 (107 hp) AT 2015

Video test

The car is equipped in the style of cheap and cheerful, but there is a necessary minimum. These are air conditioning, electric drive and heated mirrors (without a pipe in winter), a full set of electric windows, central locking. However, there is no radio tape recorder, only preparation. But that's not a problem. In the “state” in such machines it often happens that then you yourself want to put on your music.

What else bribed: simple Gas engine with chain drive. The power is slightly more than that of the base Vesta - 107 hp. Feels like it rides about the same. Not fast, but pretty sure. True, during the break-in, the fuel zhor scared me quite a bit - up to 15 liters per hundred. Then everything returned to normal, now in the city (and I mostly drive like this) it takes about 10 liters. Lew AI-92. Fuel tank - 60 liters, norms.

The interior is good for the money. The assembly is wobbly in places, but I'm unassuming. That would still work. And so ... The contact in the mirror adjustment button was covered by about the fifth thousand kilometers (repaired under warranty). In addition, the air conditioner began to fail, it turned out that it was not refueled. The rest is ok for now.

Ivan, review of Ravon Gentra with a machine gun 2016

The design of the rear of the Chevrolet Lacetti sedan is quite satisfactory, although the Lacetti hatchback never liked, but here they successfully changed the face and began to look pretty decent.

The gaps of the body parts are normal, there are no large variations. Bumpers hang in their places, without distortions, tightly to the body. The front doors close easily with good sound. The rear ones need to be slammed harder, but the sound is also good.

Salon, as you know, is also from the Lacetti. The door panels in the upper part are soft, the dashboard panel is semi-soft (in the bright sun it is reflected in the windshield). The seats are well shaped and can be comfortably seated.

Someone else wrote in the reviews about Daewoo Gentra about the smell in the cabin - yes, there is a little smell (it seems that the seats smell), but there is practically no smell of plastic. But try to sit in any new Renault, two minutes and you want to jump out (now even Chinese cars they don't stink). In general, the interior is assembled soundly, everything is tightly fitted and looks pretty decent. Noise isolation in the car, of course, is not great, but better than in Largus or Sandero.

As for the automatic transmission: the gearbox shifts on time and quickly. At the same time, there are small jolts, and when the speed drops, the gearbox shifts down, which is also noticeable, but the correct gear is always on. And if you need to accelerate — shifts the gear down in accordance with pressing the gas pedal. A small blunt box happens after a dynamic ride. Holds downshift, apparently while the computer adapts. And yes — the box is a little audible.

About the motor: quiet, it does not start with a half kick, but it seems to be normal. It won’t be possible to say much more until the break-in, although the engine spins easily, without tension, and it doesn’t yell, like on Lada. It doesn't warm up quickly, but it's fine on the go.

Review of the new Ravon Gentra 1.5 (107 hp) automatic transmission 2017

I will take it as a plus spacious salon, low cost compared to competitors, good equipment for such a cost.

As for the minuses, short gears with a delay when switching between 1 and 2, as well as between 2 and 3 are frustrating - it's hard to get used to. This mechanical box is considered the main drawback.

Other cons - weak engine and sluggish dynamics. Big expense in the city - 12-15 liters, on the highway - 7-7.5 liters. Long warm-up in winter. thaws for a long time windshield with the engine already warm. The low beam does not illuminate enough.

Wipers first begin to rub on dry glass and then, after 1 second, pour water, it would be better to pour water first and then the wipers would turn on.

A small clearance, let's say a little less than average for such machines. Insufficient soundproofing. In winter, the interior cools down quickly, but when the stove is working, it is not cold, it was operated at minus 25.

Daewoo Gentra, from 399,000 rubles, CAR from 5.07 rubles / km

familiar stranger

That's what the hand of the master means! The whole thing is business - the eyes squinted a little, the radiator grille is now smaller, more elegant, from which a good portion of chrome has been removed, the hood has become a little more prominent, the lower lip of the bumper is capriciously bent and adorned with angry “foglights”, and the upper one was drawn with light strokes of stampings. But in general, Gentra looks much more modern.

However, the case was limited to a spectacular facelift. From any other angle, the novelty is unmistakably recognizable as none other than the Lacetti. The one that 11 years ago was painted for the South Korean "Daewoo" by the craftsmen of the Italian "Pininfarina". Even then it did not look trendy, quite successfully combining the smooth lines characteristic of the 90s and the new sharp edges of the 21st century, and now it does not look outdated at all. And the car was given a sonorous name: from the Latin Lacertus - young, energetic, strong. In mid-2003, we wrote about this car: a replacement for the Nexia is ready, in August the novelty will be put on the conveyor of the UzDaewooAvto plant.

Hello old man! Long time no see…

The interior of the Gentra is an exact copy of the Lacetti salon. You can unmistakably recognize him by the wonderful remote control for electric mirrors in the corner of the door.

Inside view

There are even fewer differences in the interior than in the exterior. We have written more than once about the well-decorated interior of the Lacetti - the dark soft plastic of the front panel, very decent seats upholstered in practical fabric (both the texture, their two-tone range, and the large cushion adjustment knobs remained the same), a comfortable armrest, simple, but completely understandable and quite efficient air conditioner.

Ten years ago, this salon was almost a record spacious. Now, as you understand, there are more spacious cars in the "golf" class. Nevertheless, "Gentra" is very hospitable to passengers - three of us can travel on the couch, the driver of 185 cm tall "by himself" sits down without problems. In the spacious trunk, the lid of which is still opened with a button on the driver's door, two large suitcases still fit - and there is still room. However, there are some minor changes as well. So, we used to praise the visibility of the Lacetti. And now the exterior mirrors have become even a little larger.

And in terms of driving, the Gentra is similar to the Lacetti in everything. The suspension, which is identical in design, swallows not only small, but also large road troubles remarkably - the front one is especially good in this regard. And, of course, increased comfort turns into significant rolls if you suddenly want to grab the Gentra along a winding path.

The central armrest with cup holders is a privilege of the top version. But any Gentra has a third head restraint

Something new

From the very beginning of our acquaintance, Daewoo pleasantly surprised me. Soundproofing almost tightly blocks the noise of the engine at idle - I even tried to start a running engine a couple of times! But just the engine of the new Uzbek car is completely different. If the "Lacetti" relied on as many as three - of different volume and power from 95 to 121 liters. s., then the “Gentre” from the entire “Chevrolet” variety got the only in-line 1.5-liter “four” with 105 forces.

By the way, this is the same motor that is installed on the Cobalt. True, with some changes - other ignition coil, the electronic unit management, catalytic converter. In addition, I had to put another clutch - after all, a 5-speed mechanical box gears also went to the car from the Lacetti. By the way, it was also installed on the 16-valve Nexia. And on the Gentra, as in the Lacetti, it annoys with long lever strokes.

In principle, this engine "Gentre" is enough. Six hundred miles through Moscow traffic jams and suburban highways with two passengers and luggage did not reveal any big problems. True, it immediately became clear that the Gentra was intended exclusively for law-abiding drivers. Up to 60 km / h in the city, its dynamics are enough, and then the one and a half liter engine quickly turns sour. And on the highway, you can comfortably move at permitted speeds, and after 110 km / h it becomes noisy in the cabin, and overtaking on the move is given to the Daewoo with great tension.

I especially clearly felt the unhurried nature of the Gentra, having transferred from it to a 2-liter Duster - the all-wheel drive Renault seemed like a real hurricane to me!

Perhaps the only drawback of a capacious and neatly trimmed trunk is uncovered hinges that can wrinkle luggage. Under the floor hides a full spare wheel- true, on a steel disc

Tasty

Nevertheless, for all five days of acquaintance with the car, no matter how hard I tried, I could not find any serious flaws in it. And the plastic pseudo-tree on the front panel did not irritate, and the confused hatch control could not piss me off. And all because from the very beginning, even before I got behind the wheel, I studied the price list. So, the base Gentra is 28 thousand cheaper than the 1.4-liter Lacetti three years ago! And better equipped. And for half a million you will get a car in a top-end configuration, except perhaps without leather, and an “automatic” for Gentre Elegant is a little expensive - as much as 52 thousand. Nevertheless, such a car will remain unambiguously the best offer in the “golf” class.

Of course, if you dig deep into the equipment list, you can find the total absence of ESP, side and window airbags and leather interior. And yet, I think, neither one nor the other, much less the third one, can cross out the main advantage of Gentra: UzDaewoo offered us a lot of car for very little money.

As for the replacement of the Nexia ... It seems that it will remain on the assembly line for the time being - after all, the old woman is still more than a hundred thousand cheaper.

richer and cheaper

The basic package "Comfort" can be called a living wage. Such a Gentra has a decent power accessories, height adjustment of the driver's seat, a folding sofa, central locking, an immobilizer, isofix mounts. Moreover, in terms of equipment, the car for 399 thousand is richer than the base Lacetti for air conditioning, a second airbag, eyeglass case, a central armrest in front, fog lights, and mirrors and door handles are painted in body color. AKP will add 50,000 rubles to the base, ABS (this equipment is called "Optimum") - 17 thousand, or only 5,000 rubles. with "automatic".

"Optimum Plus" includes heated front seats and "music", but costs 423 and 460 thousand - as you can see, automatic transmission is much cheaper in this case. Finally, the top-end "Elegant" for 490 thousand means a pseudo-wood trim, adjustable not only in tilt angle, but also in length, the steering wheel, rear center armrest, remote control with an audio system on the steering wheel and even a sunroof.

Chosen by the whole world

The Daewoo Lacetti debuted in the fall of 2002 at the Seoul Motor Show. Since then, the car has been sold under various names around the world. In Canada and Mexico, the car was called "Optra", in Europe - "Nubira", in India - SRV. Moreover, he changed his car and surnames: in China he was known as "Buick-Excel", in the USA - "Suzuki-Forenza", in Australia - "Holden-Viva".

The current name was chosen by marketers. After interviewing a certain number of our compatriots, they settled on the energetic Gentra. This name was approved by the majority of respondents.

Spacious interior with comfortable front seats; best in class price; good visibility; comfortable energy-intensive suspension

Very long and fuzzy moves of the manual gearbox lever; large rolls in corners; lack of ESP, side and window airbags

heirsChevroletLacetti - UGentra different motor! Well, almost ... - Weeds and bad taste - Excellent handling and dynamics - Not screwed up. Thanks.

Before becoming a Chevrolet, the Lacetti was sold under the Daewoo brand. In general, he, like Sabaoth, has many names (Chevrolet Optra and Nubira, Suzuki Forenza, Buick Excelle - depending on the markets), but among them there is no TagAZ Vega (peace be upon her), which is also the essence of Lacetti, though with modified design and rear suspension.

Chevrolet Lacetti and TagAZ Vega

Vega is a car almost entirely Chinese. Lacetti is Korean. Although these are not two poles of the global automotive industry, they are still extremely distant from each other. Uzbekistan, where Gentra is harvested, is on the sidelines, both geographically and technologically. It will be interesting to compare the three shades of gray of one car, don't you think? At least in absentia.

Giving me a car, the representative of Uz-Daewoo warned: just don’t write that the engine is from Cobalt on the Gentra! It's a different motor!

Well, like another ... The Gentle unit carries the J200 index, the Cobalt one - GSV. They have different control units, respectively, different calibrations.

The Cobalt ECU (left) is installed in the passenger compartment, while the Gentra ECU is installed in the engine compartment.

Gentra's engine is technically a little more powerful (107.4 hp versus 105), but this difference is within the natural range. Both motors are produced in Uzbekistan, at GM Powertrain Uzbekistan.

In addition to the motor power units The difference between the two machines is the clutch, flywheel, mounting brackets, ignition coils and catalytic converter.

Feelings in the cabin: Lacetti was not so "wooden".

It's not even about the tasteless overlays under the tree. The plastic itself leaves the impression of such an absolutely defiant "oak". And just don’t laugh: the lining on the “torpedo” and the upper parts of the door skins are soft to the touch. But visually - like in a prison shower room. Even more unpleasant is the hard plastic, the one from which all other panels are made.

Plastic conjugations are also far from ideal:

In the handles, uncovered heads of self-tapping screws are visible:

"Radio" (I write this word in quotation marks, because it's not a radio at all) - a frankly Chinese design that does not fit well with the general styling of the salon:

Let's put it this way: Lacetti is not the best example to copy. But not the worst either. With simple touches, Gentra could be made more interesting than Lacetti, as happened with the Tagazovites.

The Uzbeks, it seems to me, have done worse.

It’s good at least that they didn’t succumb to the Chinese fashion for blue light bulbs and left a light dashboard green:

The layout of the cabin, when adapted to the production capabilities of Uz-Daewoo, did not suffer. There is a solid space for the rear passengers by the standards of the class:

Normal 405 liter trunk

The trunk is opened with a button on the door:

There is even a drawer under the front passenger seat:

And a shelf under the "glove compartment":

Uzbeks seem to be very fond of business cards. In the Gentra, I found as many as three compartments for business cards: one each in the sun visors:

And two in the niche of the armrest. The latter have sharp edges, I even hurt myself by inadvertently sticking my fingers inside the glove box:

This configuration also had heated front seats:

The seats are decent

the driver even has three-stage lumbar support:

But there is not enough lateral support in the shoulders, where it is most needed.

The pillow is adjustable in inclination:

And it's cool: the front seat sled control mechanisms are different on the right and left!

More annoying little things: the "automatic" driver's window only works for opening, the engine temperature indicator shamelessly lies (after 15 minutes of driving it is still "at zero"), forcibly locked doors are not unlocked when opening, you need to press a special button.

There is no indication of the head light on, not at all, only by the frail illumination of the tidy and you can understand whether the headlights are on. This is a real joint. Like the horn buttons on the hubs.

And the rear left door does not close well (hello Lifan Solano!). The seal is set correctly, I looked. Apparently, the stamps are already worn out.

Handling Gentra, as they say, "clean": understandable and well-predictable slip in corners, moderate roll, no longitudinal buildup.

On a straight line, the car is stable, but after 140 km / h yaws begin, the dynamic corridor expands to frightening values. Have to steer. This is not so much the merit of the suspension as the rustic Serbian Tigar Sigura Stud 195/65R15 studded tires.

It seems that the plant belongs to Michelin, and the quality of tires is very mediocre. The sidewalls are excessively soft, which is why unpredictable slips occur. Although, in general, the decent handling of the Lacetti has not gone away, I think summer tires Gentra will behave much more noblely.

But with the feeling of the car - full order. The hydraulic booster and moderately sharp steering wheel (3.1 turns) give excellent feedback. Echoes and gear shifter, set up just exemplary. The only problem is that the lever is slightly shifted to the right and the third is where other cars have the fifth. Have to relearn.

TagAZ-Vega, I remember, had a complete and absolute seam with a sense of movement, the lightest steering wheel not only did not inform the driver, but even misinformed! Lacetti was also more restrained in the backlash.

The motor is a delight. I did not expect such a drive from such a modest volume! It spins up instantly and accelerates the Gentra very convincingly. It was wet weather and I did not measure the dynamics. But I am sure that the passport 11.9 seconds can be blocked.

They gave me a new car, about a thousand kilometers:

I admit that after a thorough break-in, it will behave even better.

Gentra takes some getting used to. First impression of her: damn, another cheap shit. And it lasts for a long time, especially if it’s raining outside, the car “sweats” even with the air conditioner on, and cheap plastic creaks at every asphalt junction. As you get used to and adapt to the little things and nuances, you begin to see the main thing: the car is moving.

Gentra has a lot of localized parts.

Definitely, the car is better than the TagAZ one, but Lacetti still falls short of accuracy.

Daewoo Gentra is a car with a lot of flaws. Many of them copy those from Lacetti and I don't understand why they haven't been fixed. But in the main thing - in the chassis - the Uzbeks managed not to screw up.

Real owner reviews about Daewoo Gentra:
Daewoo Gentra

  • Summer bought Daewoo Gentra, car completely arranged. Holds the road, there is dynamics and a powerful engine, management is only pleasing, the interior lighting is excellent. I haven't calculated fuel consumption yet, but if I don't pay attention to how money disappears from my wallet, I would venture to assume that everything is in order here. The only negative is the low clearance when the car is loaded, and, probably, for many this can become a problem, especially when traveling to villages, but in my case everything suits me, since the car is constantly empty and only once it was necessary to transfer a few bags, because of which the deficiency was noticed.
  • I worked for a long time in a taxi, and also had a business class car, but this is so for the introduction to prove that I understand cars. I bought a Daewoo Gentra, and it's hard to say that Korean manufacturers differ in quality from Europe. I was pleased with the gearbox, which draws out the lack of engine power. The rear brakes respond well, and the car stops quietly even off-road. I am a fan of finding flaws and they are in this car. There are a lot of cons especially regarding the headlights. Manufacturers forgot to think over and put bi-lenses on the headlights, instead of xenon, which simply blinds everyone on the road. Here you will have to refine this problem for your own money and change xenon or halogen or figure out how to fix this minus, because there are few people who want to interfere with oncoming drivers and take risks themselves.
  • After buying Daewoo Gentra, I have sheer admiration and it's not just that. The car suits me even more than expected. I knew about the benefits long before the purchase, as I rode with a friend and while I was driving, I listened to everyone positive qualities. For those who do not know, the car is quite cheap and if you look at the excellent appearance, which is not inferior to the elite cars, then you can easily just not believe it. I liked and even surprised that, unlike other models and brands, Daewoo Gentra is economical only when consuming 92 gasoline, but already at 95 extra fuel consumption begins. Why so, I can’t even imagine, because usually everything turns out just the opposite, but fuel consumption still remains on average at the level of 10 liters, and when not powerful engine 1.5 is a lot. The gearbox reacts sharply to shifts, so it's better to flash it right away, but if you get used to it, you can drive with this little problem.
  • My wife got a job, and since the city is big enough, I had to buy a car. I don’t really want to spend too much money, since I myself drive, to put it mildly, in a middle-class car, so the choice fell on the Daewoo Gentra. The car, both in appearance and in characteristics, is more like a male version, but the wife wanted to, and there was nothing to do. I didn’t have to wish about it, since the purchase justified itself by 100%. Roomy, interior and road lighting, dynamics, comfort and appearance really work out every ruble spent on purchase. After driving more than a dozen kilometers, I realized that the engine is weak, fuel consumption is too high, the gearbox sometimes twitches, but for girls who drive at low speed, these things are almost invisible. The machine can be said golden mean between Chinese low-quality products and a domestic concern, that is, the quality and the price are completely satisfied.
  • Buying a Daewoo Gentra is only more expensive for yourself, and I felt it myself. Why many write about the advantages of this machine, I do not understand, but there is nothing good here. The clearance is so low that it seems that it will soon be possible to cling to the asphalt. In winter or on a bad road with such a clearance, there is simply nothing to do, so most of the time I have a car in the garage. The interior is roomy, yes, but this is still a car, not a truck, so it makes no sense to put this as the main advantage. Jerking the gearbox starts to bother you after a few days, and it gets on your nerves and you have to be constantly afraid and drive only at low speeds so as not to get into an accident. If you rate it from 0–10, it will score no more than 3 for me, and then only due to its low cost and spaciousness.

I bought a Gentra Daewoo in the summer of 2016, and have been driving it ever since. Mileage is now 39900 km.

What to say about the car? Well, experience, as everyone knows, is actually a comparison. The ability to compare, so to speak. I had one Nexia before Gentra - a six-year-old on which I drove for 3.5 years, up to a run of 153,000 km, then there was already a 16-valve, not an 8-valve Nexia, also used, but with less mileage, - not 72,000, as on the first, but only 40,000 km. I traveled on it for 1.5 years and sold it - it was worse in electrical terms than the first one, although it seems to be newer. Then I had a Polo Folks, new, which I drove for almost two years and 44,000 km of run. Polo was VERY pleased after both Nexia. Then my Gentra, which I have been driving for almost 1.5 years. Now the mileage is about 40,000 km.

Well, for breakdowns, the most important thing, I guess. No breakdowns, except for what happened with a glitch with the car radio - it hung - turn off and turn on the battery terminals. And all? Well, that's all for now!

Yes, by the way, I have maximum equipment on the mechanics with a hatch. Luke, however, in this weather in St. Petersburg, the hell is not needed. Anyway. Already bought. A hatch is generally not needed in Russia. Needed in Miami, but not in Russia. Further. First impressions. One word - the first two weeks in Gentra compared to Polo are indescribable. Polo is a stool where the back constantly hurts. Gentra in this sense is a class higher. Well, she is already a class above!

Very soft. Smooth. But, of course, not as maneuverable and sharp as the Polo. Polo is much more like a wurt. So Gentra is for those who do not like sharpness and love comfortable and calm movement.

Minuses. They are. The first is the box. I am already moving at a speed of 60-65 km / h ALWAYS in the last - 5th gear. ALWAYS! It's nonsense, but it's true. And at a speed of 110 km / h I have not 3.3 thousand revolutions, as in Polo or Nexia, but not less than 4 thousand. Well, at a speed of 80 km / h, not 2,000, but 3,000 revolutions. It's not entirely clear to me. Some say that the box is some kind of old one. By the way, I poured it into the box immediately after purchase good synthetics. I read the reviews - they say something terrible floats there, instead of oil and it is black. I don’t know, I didn’t see it, but I was reinsured.

The second minus is the lacquer coating. Weak. Two beetles on the roof have already been removed. There are chips and not one, two. They say that all Daewoos have trouble with this.

On the other hand, my first Nexia was already covered with rust at the bottom of the first front doors, but nothing - I drove it for 3.5 years, although it was already 6 years old. Ugly, of course, but a reliable car.

What are the other downsides? No USB? Yes, but I bought an FM modulator for 440 rubles on aliexpress. And in general, there is no problem.

Everything else I'm happy with. On KADE I can sometimes reach speeds of up to 160 km / h, but I don’t feel it, although in POLO, of course, the sound insulation is better. But I'm not particularly worried, although I made a locker on the rear ear out of liquid rubber - it became a little better with soundproofing.

The steering is hard on the GENTRA and I love it. Here the force is needed to turn it, unlike the Polo. I like it. Some consider this a minus, but I have my own cockroaches here - and this is a plus for me, psychologically - especially when the speed is over 120 km / h.

I plan to travel on it at least 150,000 km. If it was possible in Nexia, then it will be even more successful in Gentra. Maybe.

Eats more than Polo, but Polo poured 95th gasoline, and here 92nd. An average of 7.8-8.0 liters. On the highway - less than 7.0 liters. In traffic jams - up to 12 liters. I write as is. Good or bad, this is how it is.

It is impossible to blame the negro is that he is black. A Negro is a Negro, and Gentra is Gentra.

The resume is such that I dreamed of Octavia, but ... as long as there is Gentra in such a normal state, I don’t dream. Moreover, in Octavia there are only more bells and whistles connected with electrics, and everything else is similar, except for the cost. By the way, I bought mine for 489,000 rubles. Let me remind you, in the FULL package, but on the mechanics - I don’t like the machine. How much does a new Octavia cost? No, well, if there is loot, I would buy an apartment. You won't surprise anyone with a wheelbarrow now.
