The above system first appeared on legendary SUV Lexus GX number 470. The car itself was launched in mass production back in 2002, however, the new work of masters from Australia in the form of a kinetic control system and a number of innovative “goodies” forced the production to begin introducing this development into new cars from 2004.

Success was not long in coming, because the premium SUV is still incredibly popular on all continents. For 4 years, only buyers of the Lexus GX 470 could enjoy KDSS, but since 2008, Toyota decides to introduce this development into its Land Cruiser 200. And after another two years, everyone's favorite Toyota Prado gets it. The electronic system was so successful that it was even "stuck" in a supercar from McLaren. Since 2012, it has been installed in the MP 4 12C model.

What is KDSS and how does it work?

So, what is the KDSS system? KDSS stands for Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System, which translates as Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System. It was developed in a town called Dunsborough, based in Australia. The rights to this invention belong to the R&D company, which develops hydraulic cylinders and other elements useful for cars. The beginning of the year was marked by the end of the warranty for my restyled Prado. The day before, I did TO-60 with the replacement of stabilizer bushings in a circle. A week after the end of the warranty, a knock appeared and began to intensify rear suspension, after 10 days it became unbearable. Knowing about the problems in the reliability of KDSS (especially on restyling), in the hope that the shock absorber or some silent block has rattled, I drive the car into a pit, the assistants rock the car while standing on the steps, with horror I find that the rear cylinder of the KDSS is knocking. I’m going to the dealer for a bow, after inspection, the dealer declares that it is necessary to replace both cylinders even with a working front one, they have such a regulation. They announce the price for spare parts, replacement work, fluid injection and calibration ... the amount is about 150,000. I had to think. I know a person who changed cylinders under warranty for 5200 mileage for the first time, and then two more times during the warranty period. The fact that Toyota knows about this sore, reworked the cylinders three times, there were different part numbers of the cylinders, and without having overcome the problem, Toyota chose to remove this system from the new cars of the main line of equipment, leaving it only at maximum speeds. Therefore, I decided to remove this system. I have nothing against KDSS, the idea is good but its reliability, combined with the cost of replacement, put her to death.

The bolts for fastening the front clamps 91674G1028 can also be replaced with a bolt M10x35 thread pitch 1.25 with a coating and a flange. But these bolts are still better to order original ones, they are made of better quality, we will weld them with heads to the frame and in case of thread wear, it will be difficult and time consuming to replace these bolts.
I ordered all the components in Avtodok, the most expensive parts are stabilizers. Before including them in the order, I rummaged through Avito and found what I was looking for in a new condition, original and at half the price. A man mistakenly ordered stubs for a car with KDSS, but the usual ones came, he got rid of them with pleasure, I bought them with pleasure. The rest of the small fasteners - ordered.
Further, I wanted to see how everything assembled looks live on a factory-equipped machine with such stubs, I wanted to take measurements at the installation sites of welded brackets and clarify the dimensions of the brackets, the drawings of which were laid out by a person earlier.
