Kia rio 4 generations what kind of gasoline. Long test Kia Rio

The hatchback appeared in the Rio lineup in 2012, and now every fifth buyer chooses it. In technical terms, the five-door completely repeats the sedan. And the prices for both versions are the same. The difference is that the hatch does not have the cheapest configuration, and it is 250 mm shorter in length due to the reduced rear overhang. Therefore, according to dry figures, the trunk of the hatch is less spacious (389 liters versus 500). But this difference is more than paid off by the higher practicality of the five-door body. In addition, this modification gives the rear passengers more room in height.

Like it or not, but over the three years of production and life in Russia, Rio of the last, third generation, has built a good career. Today it is the most popular model Kia, which occupies the third place in the rating of sales in our market - right after Lada Granta and related Hyundai solaris. For example, from January to September 2014, Kia was able to sell a little more than 66,000 copies of the Rio. Moreover, despite the general drop in demand, there were only slightly fewer buyers for this compact car than a year ago!

Rio, unlike the platform Hyundai Solaris, does not yet have fashionable projector headlights and LED running lights. At the same time, the current head optics Rio illuminates the road very mediocrely: it hits close, it “burns” dimly ... Fog lights partially save the situation, but they are installed only on hatchbacks with a 1.6 liter engine performed by Luxe (from 585,900 rubles)

What's the secret? After all, it would seem that this car is best suited to illustrate the popular hit "What you were, remained so." Here, for example, the same Solaris has already received projector headlights, and fashionable LED running lights, and in general it has changed outwardly ... And Rio looks the same as it first got to the Auto Mail.Ru test in 2011 . At the same time, experts do not tire of repeating to us that the modern public buys cars, mainly with their eyes. For design, that is. But the Russians do not seem to care about all sorts of scientific and marketing theories. As well as the price issue. Do you remember how it all started? From the meager 399 thousand rubles that dealers once asked for the base Rio, albeit the previous generation. And now for Rio, albeit in full stuffing, the dealer will require ... almost 700 thousand! With such a sum on hand, it is quite possible to take a swing at a golf-class car like Opel Astra or Skoda Octavia.

Stylish exterior details like the black chrome grille are also mostly included in the category of options. For example, polished alloy wheels with tires 195 / 55R16 go only in maximum configuration Premium for 699,900 rubles. And streamlined wiper blades and fake "gills" on the front fenders are an attribute of Rio starting from the Prestige version for 619,900 rubles

But you can’t argue with the facts - the little Korean is still at odds well. And if you look, there is an explanation for this. Does the price seem high? So take into account inflation - there are VAZ models and they have crept up to the half-million mark. Moreover, no one forces the top version to choose. And, for example, the “average” version of Comfort with a 1.4 liter engine (107 forces) and an automatic for 567,900 rubles will already have the necessary minimum in the form of air conditioning, “music”, ABS, disc brakes “in a circle”, heated mirrors , seats and even the steering wheel (!). And the design from the German Peter Schreyer is not outdated. In addition, Rio was actually updated almost every year: the interior trim changed, the range of colors expanded, the list of equipment was replenished ... It’s just that the Koreans didn’t advertise this much.

  • With the new six-speed "automatic" (combined only with a 1.6-liter engine), Rio dropped a little in weight, became 0.1 s faster in acceleration to "hundreds" (11.2 s), increased the maximum speed by 7 km / h (up to 185 km / h) and reduced the fuel appetite by 0.1 l (up to 6.4 l / 100 km). The improvements are scanty, but the sensations say otherwise - the updated Rio rides more pleasantly than its predecessor with an archaic four-speed transmission
  • You can adjust the operation of the six-speed automatic transmission only by swinging the lever back and forth in pseudo-manual mode. There are no paddle shifters, Sport buttons too

Plus, two more important factors must be taken into account: since 2012, Rio has also been produced with a five-door hatchback body. And in the second half of 2014, new gearboxes appeared on older versions with a 1.6 liter engine (123 hp): six-speed manual and automatic. So in the compact class, not only the Volkswagen Polo or, for example, the Chevrolet Cobalt now have the privileges of modern transmissions.

In general, three years later, there were many reasons to invite the Kia Rio again to show itself in our long test. And Auto Mail.Ru took a car with a new one for two months. automatic transmission. And a little later we will comparative test sedan with competitors, but for now let's deal with the hatchback.

Regular "music" is devoid of a touch screen, but pleases with logical controls and surprisingly good sound for a budget system. By the way, it will already be on the second from the beginning of the price list of the configuration (527,900 rubles). Moreover, you won’t have to pay extra for CD / MP3 / USB and buttons on the steering wheel. In a car for 619,900 rubles there will already be six speakers, and in top version- Bluetooth protocol for cell phone connection

I’ll immediately close the issue with prices: Rio with four and five doors cost the same, a penny for a penny (the only difference is that the hatch is not offered in the cheapest configuration). So you need to choose here solely from the position which body you like best. We got a top-end five-door for 699,900 rubles. Very expensive! But this car has literally everything: climate control, parking sensors, keyless entry, Bluetooth protocol for connecting a mobile phone, and even a partially leather trim on the front panel. The Koreans (honor and praise for this!), unlike the Chinese, refused the thin leatherette on the seats, but such inclusions look appropriate on the “torpedo”. If only because it looks prestigious, but it will not be wiped quickly. Therefore, if the status and content of the car is more important for you than its size, the top-end Rio is quite suitable. Golf class for the money will be empty, like a tramp's pocket.

  • The interior of the top Rio is a cocktail of hard plastics of various textures, fabric and leather inserts. Surprisingly, such eclecticism looks organic. In my opinion, this is one of the most decent salons in the compact class. But there were some remarks. Three years have passed, and the Koreans have not made the steering wheel adjustment for reach. Chairs are also not the best: hard and flat, they do not provide the body with proper support. And plastic is easily scratched and quickly loses its neat appearance.
  • With the same wheelbase, the hatchback is somewhat more spacious than the sedan in the rear: the roof configuration has added a couple of centimeters in height. And there is also an almost flat floor, but there are no attributes of comfort, except for a cup holder and air supply to the legs.
  • Starting with the Prestige version for 619,900 rubles, the seats and door inserts are made of dirt-repellent Clean Tex fabric. Although, to be honest, we didn’t find any special advantages for her - she also gets dirty easily and is also difficult to clean, like ordinary upholstery. But you can’t refuse this option - all Rio’s configurations are fixed

And what did Rio give a five-door body? Here they will correct me - I didn’t give, but took it away. Indeed, at first glance it is noticeable that the tail was docked like a Doberman hatch. So it is - with the same wheelbase of 2570 mm, the length of the five-door is an impressive 250 mm less than that of the sedan (4120 mm versus 4370 mm). And only by shortening the rear overhang. Someone will consider this a blow to prestige, but I think comparisons in the spirit of “who has what is longer” for all normal people ended back in kindergarten. Say, the amount of luggage suffered? Formally, yes - it was 500 liters, it became 389. But it’s much more convenient to use the cargo compartment on the hatch. In addition, the backs of the rear sofa are folded in a ratio of 40:60 (by the way, you don’t have to pay extra for this opportunity). Yes, a sedan can also boast of this, but its access to the salon turns out to be narrow and low - body amplifiers interfere. And the hatchback turns into a miniature van during such an operation. Here is the proof: the very first attempt to load a children's electric motorcycle into a sedan failed: it did not fit either from behind or through the doors ... The five-door accepted it without problems, and there was still room for bags. In other words, this Rio is the most versatile. Still, the back of the rear sofa folded into a flat floor - it would be very good.

  • The trunk opens either remotely (button from the key), or a key on the door. The hatchback does not have a lever in the cabin.
  • Regular rear parking sensors are included in the top package, but, by and large, there is no need for it. Backdoor the hatch is almost vertical, with large glass, so even a beginner can easily feel the dimensions of the car

In addition, the hatch is somewhat more spacious for rear passengers. How so?! After all wheelbase the same?! This is true, but the five-door roof is not so sloping, which allowed the engineers to gain a couple of extra centimeters above the tops of people. True, it would be better if the developers thought about the microclimate. Our Rio caught the first frosts, and in the mornings the inhabitants of the second row often complained about the cold, although it was already warm in front. However, it is understandable: air is supplied to the legs of the rear riders through separate channels, and there is no other ventilation in the “gallery”. So it warms up more slowly and not so evenly.

  • A large opening makes it easier to load bulky things - in this, the hatchback unconditionally outplays the sedan. correct form the compartment is violated only by bulging wheel arches. The back of the rear sofa can be folded in parts, but a flat floor will not work
  • AT Kia equipment Rio includes a full-fledged “spare tire” and a set of tools – both of which will not be superfluous on a long journey. But, fortunately, all this did not come in handy for us - the Korean did not disappoint even in the Russian wilderness

On the move, both versions also differ, although this is not visible from the characteristics. Dry numbers tell us that the sedan and hatchback accelerate the same way, consume the same amount of fuel, etc. Is that the five-door options with 1.4 under the hood 5 kg heavier and maximum speed they are slightly lower. But these are nuances that in ordinary life you definitely won’t notice. And if I used Rio only in the city, something more important would have eluded me, too. However, at the beginning of September, we went to the Kia to the start of the Pskov rally. And after the race, I did not miss the opportunity to shake the hatchback on dirt tracks near the border with Estonia. From the point of view of reliability, the car passed the test successfully: except that a small "cricket" in the cabin started up, which soon subsided itself. The suspension also worked with dignity: the passengers were pretty shaken, the hatchback twitched up and down, left and right, but it came to breakdowns and hard hits only on the most extreme bumps. And the ground clearance increased to 160 mm contributed to the fact that the plastic protection power unit never touched the ground. In other words, the “Korean” is quite prepared for a good country road.

But for a novice driver - not really. My advice to those who choose the Rio hatch for the role of the first car - do not skimp on the stabilization system. It's a pity that it goes only in the top version for those same 700 thousand ... In regular "civilian" modes, the car behaves accommodatingly, but if bumps appear on the road (and even in a turn), the hatchback starts to jump off the path. In addition, the 1.6-liter engine makes the car quite frisky, but simple Tires on slippery surfaces (whether it be soil or wet asphalt) it is not always able to provide reliable grip. At first, everything is safe: when busting into a corner, the Rio begins to slide outward with the front axle. And if you slightly reduce the gas - the car will return to its previous course. But as soon as you throw the pedal sharply (this often happens when a beginner gets scared), the Rio immediately begins to turn across the road. To “catch” the car and return it to the correct trajectory, a certain skill is required (the sedan in such modes, by the way, is a little more accommodating). Learn it.

  • Since 2014 model year all Rio have illuminated power window buttons. Truth auto mode only the driver's window still has it. And the function of automatic locking of locks with the start of movement relies only on the Prestige version (619,900 rubles) and higher
  • A long trip of several thousand kilometers made it possible to conduct another experiment. What gasoline to fill in - 92nd or 95th? Almost the most popular topic is devoted to this issue on the Rio fan forum. After all, Kia officially allows both grades. So, in one direction we use the 95th fuel, in the opposite direction - the 92nd. The route is the same, the traffic is the same... The result was quite unexpected. The average consumption in the first case was 8.3 l / 100 km, and in the second - 8.1 l, even taking into account the fact that a rather weighty passenger joined us. At the same time, the 92nd gasoline is cheaper, but I did not notice any changes in the operation of the engine: there is no detonation, traction is confident, acceleration is even ... It turns out that the Koreans initially tuned their engine to budget fuel, and the use of expensive varieties will not give advantages to the owner.

The new "machine" is a very worthy thing! Let him still missing sports mode, which allows you to cheer up the transmission at the touch of a button, but now there is no such urgent need for this. Taken from the older Sportage and cee'd models, the six-speed unit is endowed with a wider and denser range of gears, which allows the electronics to quickly select the optimal algorithm to keep the engine in good shape. This is confirmed by the figures - the maximum speed increased from 178 to 185 km / h, acceleration to "hundreds" was reduced by one tenth of a second - to 11.2 s. Yes, and elasticity has become a little better - acceleration from 80 to 120 km / h for the updated Rio takes 8.4 s against 8.5 before. But, again, the difference seems to be more significant. Yes, a slight thoughtfulness during kickdown remained, but for an affordable model, this is rather the norm. True, the Koreans also promised a reduction in fuel consumption, but this is not particularly noticeable in the city. If you crawl through traffic jams, Rio easily eats 12-13 liters of fuel for every 100 km. Agree, a lot compact machine with a four-cylinder engine 1.6 liters.

    P. S. I have not forgotten that a long test involves a story, including about car malfunctions. It just wasn't there this time. At all. Moscow traffic jams, provincial primers, peripheral roads Kia Rio withstood five plus - not a single failure!

    P. P. S. Although no, one trouble did happen - the dealer forgot to adjust the headlights, and they blinded others even in low beam mode. So when buying new car we advise you to check the lighting on site so that you do not have to go to the service once again.

Today, motorists are more likely to use fuel that has an octane rating of 92 because it is cheaper. Recently, a lot of research has been done on how the octane number affects the operation of the engine and it is by this number that the quality of the fuel is determined.

You can forget about driving at high speeds using gasoline with a low octane rating. The lower the number, the lower the fuel consumption, but the car will not work at full power with such fuel.

    Advantages of AI-95

Drivers who have already tried both fuels can declare with full confidence that there is a difference and even an inexperienced driver can feel it. On 95 gasoline vehicle accelerates faster and this has already been confirmed by scientific data, the working units wear out less, the machine becomes more maneuverable.

Not only the acceleration time on 95 gasoline is reduced, but the car can also pick up speed more.

    Disadvantages of AI-95

The cost of AI - 95 does not allow some car owners to constantly use this fuel. Kia Rio is a budget car, it is loved because it does not require a lot of costs, including maintenance. In any case, which type of gasoline 92 or 95 will be used on the Kia Rio depends on your budget. To increase the life of the car, 95th gasoline is still recommended.

I began to fill in 95, the difference in price from 92 is scanty, and we don’t have the most gasoline best quality although in the cabin they told me it’s possible and 92, but the main thing is not to alternate and fill in one thing. And I decided to refuel only on the nest, I heard so many stories about low-quality gasoline, how people got repaired because of low-quality fuel .....

What gasoline to fill 92 or 95 in HYUNDAI Solaris Kio Rio Spectra VAZ.

What kind of gasoline to refuel and what kind of gasoline is better to fill in? 92nd or 95th, or maybe 98th? What gas stations? These questions are of concern to both beginners and quite experienced motorists who have seen and felt the difference in the behavior of a car on different gasoline from different gas stations.

good gasoline It's real gasoline! Unfortunately, we don’t have enough of it ... According to statistics, most of the time an ordinary motorist spends on city roads and country roads within 100 km. from the city, which makes it possible to refuel at one or two proven gas stations. This is very important point and immediately after purchasing a car, we recommend that you look for such gas stations in your city and its environs. Of course, the Internet will help you with this. Read reviews, ask on the forums and you will definitely find good gas station. Be doubly vigilant in case your car eats diesel fuel. With the quality of diesel in our country, the situation is even worse than with gasoline, and flying into expensive repairs is as easy as shelling pears.

So, the gas station is selected, reviews on the Internet say that it is good and the gasoline (diesel) on it is of high quality. Now let's decide what kind of gasoline it is better to fill a car with a diesel engine, and so it's clear - the choice is small. Well, here is gasoline: 92nd, 95th, or maybe 98th right away? There is an opinion that it is better to refuel with the 92nd, because it has fewer additives and it is cleaner, and after the 95th carbon deposits appear, candles turn red and other unpleasant consequences. But supporters of this point of view, as a rule, do not take into account the fact that often our 92nd is nothing but the 80th ... You can tear your shirt for a long time and try to prove something, but the fact remains. This can be confirmed by numerous examinations of fuel from various gas stations throughout Russia, the results of which indicate that the octane number does not in all cases correspond to the declared brand of gasoline. It's hard to argue with this.

So all the same, what kind of gasoline to pour? First of all, study the instructions for your car on this topic or just open the gas tank flap, maybe the brand of gasoline that you need to fill is written there. If only 95 is written, then there is nothing to think about and you should not try to deceive the designers, deciding to save money by filling in the 92nd. If the instruction allows the use of the 92nd, then it's up to you. There will be no harm from the fact that you will pour the 95th instead of the 92nd. The consumption will be less, the dynamics may noticeably change for the better, when the engine is running in extreme modes (driving on high revs, sudden accelerations, etc.) its wear will be less. In terms of money, that’s about what it will come out with, except for engine repairs ... You also need to take into account the fact that 92nd gasoline in Russia is currently the most common, respectively, the likelihood of it, as they say, “debossing” is also higher than that of 95th.

Some motorists have a question, maybe it’s worth filling in the 98th and the car will drive even better? No, it's redundant. This is where the harm can be more than good. 98th gasoline is designed for high-powered engines with a high compression ratio, so leave it to athletes and racing enthusiasts. The only time when it makes sense to fill in the 98th gasoline is if instead of the 92nd or 95th you don’t know what and the car categorically refuses to drive normally, it’s stupid, it twitches. In this case, you can fill the tank with 5-10 liters of 98th, so that the car should feel a little better. If this happened and got into the gas tank low-quality gasoline, we strongly recommend visiting a service station and diagnosing the engine and fuel system. That is why try to always keep receipts from gas stations.

Let's summarize and once again list the actions that will help ensure your car quality fuel, thereby saving you nerve cells:
    1. We read reviews, look for information about gas stations, and choose convenient locations.
    2. We make a choice in favor of the 95th gasoline. If interested, then we experiment with both, drive in different modes and check on our own skin
    3. We always try to refuel at one or two proven gas stations.
    4. If it so happened that gasoline of dubious quality got into the tank and the car began to behave strangely, then we dilute it with 5-10 liters of 98 and try to visit the service station.
    Good luck on the roads!
