Fuel filter duster. We change the fuel filter for Renault Duster Renault Duster fuel filter cleaning

The Renault Duster engine is one of the most reliable and unpretentious in its class. This applies to both petrol and diesel units. At the same time, the car works equally well on fuel of any quality. This helps him fuel filter Renault Duster, which, due to its structure, has a great resource. The manufacturer does not regulate the period for replacing this element and it is believed that it will work properly throughout the entire operation of the car. But sometimes situations arise that can disable it ahead of schedule and require its replacement. In this case, having a minimum set of tools, each car owner can carry out repairs on their own.

The fuel system of the Duster is designed in such a way that there is one more place for installing a filter under it. But by default, there is nothing there from the factory. This can be verified by dismantling and cutting it.

As you can see in the figure, this is an ordinary dummy that imitates a filter. Manufacturers explain this by saying that, on average, fuel quality has improved and there is no need to create an additional load on the fuel pump. But due to the fact that in our country the quality of fuel in many regions leaves much to be desired, a regular seat is provided for installing a filter. It is recommended that all owners install a fuel filter on Renault Duster immediately after purchase.

Another one in the form of a grid is located on the Renault Duster fuel pump. It has a large-mesh structure and is able to protect only from small debris that can accidentally get into the filler neck of the gas tank.

Installing and replacing a Renault Duster fuel filter is necessary in two cases:

  • The filter is out of order and less fuel enters the combustion chamber
  • Factory plug installed.

In these two cases, it is better to immediately replace. This will improve engine performance, and getting rid of the plug, you can be calm about the condition of the injectors.

The replacement must be done with the car turned off so that there is no pressure in the fuel system. Instead of a blank, you can use a Bosch filter. To do this, the clamps of the pipes are loosened and, with the help of a spanner wrench, the bolt of fastening to the body is unscrewed. The pipes must be disconnected and a new filter installed. Then reassemble in reverse order.

In some cases, it may be necessary to install a filter in a niche located under the rear sofa. In this case, it leans back so that the protective hatch can be removed. In this case, the replacement is also not carried out on a running car. It is necessary to start it, but then turn off the power to the pump and wait until it stalls itself. This will ensure that there is no fuel left in the system. Then you need to carefully disconnect the body of the old element and drain the remaining fuel from it. Then a new element is installed and the assembly is carried out in the reverse order.

Which leads to filter clogging.

This problem can affect any car, regardless of what type of engine is installed on it. In some cases, one refueling with low-quality fuel is enough for the filter to become clogged with foreign particles and fail.

Main problem diesel engines– use of summer fuel in winter. This is due to the fact that, depending on seasonality, it contains various additives, and fuel for the summer period at sub-zero temperatures becomes thick, clogging the porous structure of the filter. Therefore, it is extremely important to use the recommended type of fuel.

Signs of part failure.

You can understand that it is necessary to replace the fuel filter with a Renault Duster by several signs:

  • floating turns on Idling, unstable operation when pressing the gas pedal.
  • Engine power reduction
  • The motor may stall after a while.
  • The car is difficult to start after a long period of inactivity or in the morning.

All of these reasons indicate that insufficient fuel is being supplied.

Replacing the filter with a Renault Duster is quite simple procedure. The main thing during its implementation is to carefully monitor your actions and collect everything in the same order as it was established by the manufacturer. And in order for the new part to last as long as possible, it is necessary to choose spare parts only from trusted manufacturers and fill in high-quality fuel.

Replacing the Renault Duster fuel filter is not a complicated procedure and is not often required. Today we will talk about all the features of the replacement using an example. Renault Duster with a 2 liter petrol engine. According to the manufacturer's regulations, replacement must be carried out every 120 thousand kilometers. The filter itself is not located under the bottom and not even in the gas tank, like most cars, but under the hood (marked with a red arrow in the photo). This arrangement is very convenient and does not require a pit or overpass to replace.

Naturally, before replacing the filter, it is necessary to relieve pressure. Otherwise, the entire engine compartment of your Duster will be splashed with gasoline. Therefore, we simply turn off the fuel pump located in the gas tank. To do this, set the rear seat cushion in a vertical position. Raise the hatch cover. Use a slotted screwdriver to pry out the wire block retainer. Disconnect the connector from the fuel module cover connector.

We start the engine and let it idle until it stops, due to the complete depletion of fuel. Then turn on the starter for 2-3 seconds. After that, the pressure in the fuel system will be completely relieved.

Now you can start replacing the filter itself. It is located under the hood right side on a prominent place. Press the screwdriver on the tube tip retainer. Remove the tip of the outlet tube from the filter fitting.

Similarly, remove the tip of the inlet pipe from the filter fitting. Using the “10” head, loosen the filter clamp bolt. Take the filter out of the clamp.

Since fuel remains in the filter, we drain it into a previously prepared container.

Install the new fuel filter in reverse order. The arrow on the filter housing must point in the direction of fuel flow (toward the rear of the vehicle).

After installing the filter, do not forget to connect the fuel pump. Turn on the ignition, and if you hear a characteristic hum under the rear seat, then the fuel pump is working. After creating the necessary pressure, the pump subsides. Look carefully at the connections of the fuel filter fittings, there should not be any leaks or drops of gasoline.

As for the fuel filter on the 1.6 liter engine, its official replacement is not provided. It is located in the fuel module inside the gas tank, complete with the fuel pump. In the event of a fuel pump failure, the entire fuel module is changed, in which the new filter will be located.

Renault Duster has a unique line of engines that feel like fish in water in harsh operating conditions and are extremely unpretentious to the quality of gasoline on which they have to work. At the same time, the fuel filter is installed by the manufacturer only once and, judging by the regulations, does not require intervention for the entire life of the machine, regardless of whether gasoline or diesel is the basis of the engine. However, it happens that it fails and needs to be replaced. How to conduct it yourself? This article, in addition to the video, will answer this question in detail.

When to change?

A problem such as a clogged fuel filter on a Duster is equally common on 1.6 and 2.0 engines, as well as a diesel engine. This may be due to the fact that the Duster was filled with extremely dirty fuel containing a large amount of foreign particles. At the same time, only one such filling is enough to completely clog the filter and render it unusable.

On a Duster diesel engine, using summer diesel fuel in winter can lead to a similar problem: the fuel can turn into a thick tar and damage the porous surface. To avoid this, use winter diesel or use special additives that prevent thickening.

There are a number of signs that indicate that it will not be possible to do without such a replacement on engines 1.6 and 2.0. The first of these is the unstable operation of the engine at idle or when the accelerator pedal is pressed sharply. On a Renault Duster with a clogged power system, there will be noticeable power drops and a feeling that the engine is about to stall.

Another sign that guarantees you the need to replace the filter is the poor start of the Renault Duster in the morning, in the cold. This is due to the fact that the fuel enters the injector in insufficient volume and, as a result, the engine receives less combustible mixture than needed.

Stage one

Each Renault Duster engine has its own characteristics. For example, if on a 1.6 engine and a diesel engine, the only filter is located under back seat and takes over all the functions of cleaning fuel from impurities, then in the 2.0 engine, in addition to this, another filter is installed in the engine compartment, which changes according to the regulations.

The only thing you need for work is a 10 wrench and a small sharp screwdriver.

If you strictly follow the instructions, the work will not take much time, so you should not expect difficulties that may suddenly arise in the process of work.

In the case of a Duster with a 1.6 and 2.0 engine, in which the cleaning element is located in the area of \u200b\u200bthe rear sofa, right under it, you need to fold its pillow and remove the protective hatch. There you can find a terminal with wires that fits the pump, and two pipes: inlet and outlet.

It is important to keep in mind that before you start removing the nozzles, you must release the pressure in the fuel system. To do this, unfasten the latch from the pump, remove the power terminal, start the engine and wait until it stalls on its own due to running out of gasoline. After that, the starter is scrolled again for several seconds, and only after that the pipes are disconnected, fixed with clamps.

Having unscrewed the housing with a key, they take it out and drain the gasoline in the filter. Installation new part done in reverse order. It is important not to confuse the direction of circulation: it will be indicated by an arrow drawn on the body.

Stage two

Unlike a diesel engine with a 1.6 engine, the 2.0 engine additionally has a filter in engine compartment. Its change is mandatory and is made every 120 thousand kilometers. However, if the filter pump fails, best solution will change it too.

Fortunately, with the help of the video and this article, you can learn this quickly enough.

Work on the 2.0 engine is carried out in a similar way, and before starting the operation, it is imperative to start by relieving pressure fuel system. Then proceed to the direct dismantling of the cleaning element. To do this, armed with a flat screwdriver, unscrew the clamps with which the inlet and outlet pipes are connected to the body. After that, the pipes are carefully removed and it remains only to dismantle the part itself.

To do this, unscrew the hex bolt that secures the filter housing to the engine. After unscrewing, turn the housing vertically to prevent fuel leakage. One of the ends is pressed with a finger, and then the fuel is drained into a previously prepared reservoir. Reassemble in reverse order, following the direction of the arrow.

Summary

Replacement of cleaning elements gasoline engines Renault Duster is a simple job that, when familiarized with the video and literature, does not require the use of a special tool and a lot of time. If you strictly follow the instructions and choose original and high-quality consumables, then such problems should not be expected soon, and timely service will guarantee the trouble-free operation of Renault Duster even at high mileage.

On a vehicle with a 1.6L engine, the fuel filter is installed in the fuel module.

And in the configuration of a car with an F4R 2.0 liter engine, an additional fuel filter is also installed.

An additional fuel filter is installed in the engine compartment near the right support of the power plant.

According to the regulations Maintenance It is supposed to change the additional fuel filter after 120 thousand km.

Of course, this figure depends on the quality of the fuel poured into the car.

We prepare the car for the task.

We reduce the fuel pressure in the engine power system, for this:

Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Opening the hood

Opening the lid mounting block engine compartment

Removing the fuel pump relay

We connect the negative terminal of the battery and start the engine, let the engine run until it stops.

We turn off the ignition.

Engine stalled as a result of running out of fuel and depressurizing.

Insert the fuel pump relay into place.

Press a screwdriver on the latch of the tube tip

Remove the tip of the outlet tube from the filter fitting

We also remove the tip of the inlet pipe from the filter fitting.

Using a 10 head, loosen the filter clamp bolt

Removing the filter from the clamp

The arrow on the filter must point in the direction of fuel flow (toward the rear of the vehicle).

Installing a new filter. We start the engine and check the tightness of the filter connections with the fuel pipes.

The absence of impurities in the fuel is a guarantee normal operation engine power systems and reducing the likelihood of failure of components of this system. But the fuel sold at gas stations is "far from ideal", so car power systems are necessarily equipped with several filter elements with varying degrees of purification. This applies to both petrol and diesel engines.

Replacement frequency

The main cleaning element in the engine power system is a fine filter (FTO), designed to remove small impurities. They are consumables and require periodic replacement.

At Renault Duster, the frequency of replacing FTO fuel depends on the type of power unit.

On gasoline engines with a volume of 1.6 and 2.0 liters, this operation is performed quite rarely - every 120 thousand kilometers (but it is recommended to reduce the replacement frequency to 80-90 thousand km).

On a diesel, it should be changed much more often. The first time the fine fuel filter needs to be replaced after 10 thousand kilometers, and then this operation should be performed every 30 thousand kilometers (but here it is also recommended to reduce the replacement frequency to 20 thousand kilometers).

Design features of different modifications of the crossover

With the frequency of replacing the fuel filter with Reno Duster, everything is clear, but as for the products themselves, the situation here is quite interesting.

Petrol versions

On petrol 1.6 and 2.0 versions, an integrated fine filter is used, and it is part of the fuel module, which also includes a fuel pump and a coarse mesh element.

According to technical documentation, replacement of only one PTF is not possible, it is necessary to change the fuel module assembly (catalogue number - 172025090R).

But since the fuel module is much more expensive than a conventional filter, and it is not advisable to change the entire assembly because of one component, motorists have found a way out of the situation.

Nipparts (N1331054) and Zekkert (KF-5463) fine fuel filters are quite suitable as a replacement product for the original one, but with one amendment. Producers: the first is the Netherlands, the second is Germany.

These devices are slightly smaller in size, so when installing them in the fuel module housing and fitting the pump into the filter, seals must be used (for example, strips of plastic ties).

The Reno Duster with 2-liter engines has one feature regarding the fuel system. Many owners of this version of the crossover engine compartment near the right wing, a tank is found connected to the fuel lines, in shape and size very much reminiscent of an external fine filter.

But the indicated reservoir is not a filter, since there is no filler in it - it is empty. Because of this, motorists call the part a “dummy” and complain that the automaker decided to save money on installing a normal consumable.

According to the official version of the manufacturer, the specified tank is not a filter at all, but a receiver designed to smooth out fuel pulsations, but cleaning element located in the fuel module.

Video is an invisibility filter.

One of the options for explaining the use of an essentially unnecessary receiver is to make changes to the design of the car to unify parts.

That is, it was originally supposed to install a remote filter under the hood, but after that it was abandoned, preferring fuel modules. A “dummy” was simply installed in the seat (called it a receiver) so that the fuel lines did not have to be replaced.

Car owners are outraged by the presence of a "dummy", but it can be of significant benefit, because no one bothers to replace it with a PTO. And although there is no external filter in the catalog of original spare parts, it is quite possible to pick up analogues.

Thanks to the installation of an additional remote element, the level of fuel purification increases (but at the same time the load on the pump increases).

An interesting option is to install and use an external filter as the main one, after the element located in the fuel module is completely clogged and ceases to perform its functions (in this case, the cleaner in the module does not even have to be changed, it is enough to ensure that gasoline is supplied to the pump bypassing PTO).

Diesel options

The diesel Reno Duster uses an external type fuel filter. Moreover, on pre-styling and restyled models, they differ.

The first Duster uses a non-separable metal fuel filter element. The original spare part is in the catalog under the index 8200813237.

But this product is installed on the car from the factory and it is impossible to buy it. For replacement, you can use analogues - Delphi HDF954 and ASAM 30519.

When selecting a PTO for a diesel engine, the presence of a water sensor should also be taken into account. On some filters there is no mounting hole for it, on others it is.

On restyled versions, a collapsible filter with a replaceable cleaning cassette is already used. In this design, only the cassette itself is subject to replacement. In the catalog of original spare parts, it goes under the index 164037803R.

In addition to the original replacement, you can pick up analogues - Knecht-Mahle (KX 338 / 26D, aka - 164039594R), BOSCH (F026402825) MANN-FILTER (PU9011 Z KITT).

Filter replacement

As already noted, in different versions of the crossover, different types of filters are used: on gasoline - built-in, on diesel - remote. Therefore, the replacement technology is different.

1.5 liter diesel engines

On pre-styling and restyled diesel Reno Duster due to different types filters have certain differences when replacing, although a number of steps are the same for them due to the fact that the installation site is identical.

It is located on diesel engines under the right wing (in the direction of the car), in the space between the wing locker and the transverse power beam of the body, hidden under the bumper. Thanks to this, there are two ways to get to the filter - by removing the locker or by dismantling the bumper.

Consider the option of removing the locker. To get to the FTO, do this:

Further actions depend on the version of the car.

On the pre-styling Duster (three tubes fit the filter):

  • Disconnect the water sensor wiring harness;
  • Unscrew and remove the bracket that secures the filter;
  • Having unscrewed the water sensor, we drain the fuel from the filter element;
  • We mark the location of the nozzles connected to the FTO;
  • Disconnect the pipes (press the latches and pull them up);
  • Before installing a new fuel filter, we screw a water sensor into it and fill it with diesel fuel through the supply fitting (it will be easier to bleed the system after);
  • We connect the nozzles, fix the product with a bracket;
  • We put the locker, wheel in place;
  • Bleed the system to remove air.

On restyled versions, the fuel filter is replaced in a slightly different way (two tubes fit the filter):

  • Disconnect the water sensor block;
  • Unscrew the protective bracket of the filter;
  • Disconnect the pipes (be sure to mark them);
  • Drain diesel fuel from the removed product;
  • We unscrew the bolts with which the cover and the body of the FTO are tied together;
  • We separate the cover and the body (after removing the aluminum mounting ring). Mark with a marker how everything stood;
  • With the help of the device (included with the filter cassette), we push out the cleaning fuel element;
  • If necessary, flush the body;
  • We put a new cassette (together with o-rings). We collect everything in the reverse order;
  • Before installing the product, fill it with diesel fuel through the supply fitting;
  • Installing everything back
  • We pump the system using the built-in pump;
  • Release the air through the special valve.

In general, replacing the Reno Duster fuel fine filter with diesel power unit- the operation is simple and does not require special skills or devices, which allows you to perform it yourself in a garage environment.

Petrol units 1.6 and 2.0 liters

Let's move on to the petrol versions of the crossover. With where the real fuel filter is installed and what kind of dummy tank is installed under the hood of 2-liter models (there is no “dummy” receiver in the 1.6-liter versions) - figured it out. Now about how and what to change.

The “dummy” receiver available on the 2-liter Duster is identical in all dimensions to the remote filters, so it is not difficult to choose a replacement and replace it with a real element that will act as an additional fuel purifier.

The technology of work is as follows:

On gasoline versions with a 1.6-liter engine, there is no such “dummy”, but an additional filter will not be superfluous. You can simply cut it into the fuel lines in one of the sections - for example, near the same right wing, where you can fix it or place it immediately at the outlet of the tank.

But we note right away that an additional filter will increase the load on the pump, which will lead to its faster wear.

As for the main cleaning elements included in the design of the fuel module (applies to 1.6 and 2.0 liter gasoline engines), it will not be possible to find an original replacement product and you will have to select analogues. And then dismantle the module, disassemble it and install a new FTO.

Or do as mentioned above - supply gasoline bypassing the "native" filter (without changing it), and use the installed additional cleaning element as the main one.

This solution has a significant advantage - the filter will be located separately in an accessible place, and to replace it, you do not have to remove the entire fuel module each time.
