Change the cabin filter on the Opel Astra j. If the cabin filter is clogged on the Opel Astra J: replacing the Astra Ji cleaning element with a service station

Some owners Opel Astra J don't know where is cabin filter sealing element and how to replace it. Meanwhile, the filter performs an important function, and its timely replacement will save you from many troubles.

Before wondering how to change the Opel Astra J cabin filter, you need to have at least minimal information about it. The cabin filter is a part of the heating / air conditioning system, which is designed to purify the air entering from the outside into the passenger compartment, while the flow enters through the blowers.

First of all, the filter element protects the lungs of the driver and passengers from exhaust gases. It has been proven that if there is no filter in the cabin, then the concentration of gases inside the cabin compared to the street is six times greater. In addition to harmful emissions from cars, the filter element also protects against windshield wiper fumes, road chemicals, soot, dust, smoke, and even viral bacteria. Therefore, this spare part of the air conditioning system is indispensable for urban use with heavy traffic and traffic jams, on roads with reagents or when driving on a dusty country surface.

Kinds

The Opel Astra J filter element can have several varieties:

  • Dust. The most common type. Applies to most modern cars even high price category. Air purification occurs by means of cellulose or synthetic fibers. It has the appearance of corrugated paper, which is folded in rows with cells - a general view in the form of a rectangular structure. Performs primitive but important features- protects against penetration of dust, grains of sand, soot particles, insects and plant pollen.
  • Carbonic. This variety can be found on cars of the executive class and premium segment, or you can purchase it yourself. Along with corrugated paper, there is an additional layer, which consists of activated carbon. This increases the filtration efficiency, as a result of which even the smallest particles of phenolic, benzene and oxide elements are captured. When a layer of coal becomes clogged and ceases to perform its functions, the filter becomes simply dusty. It has the appearance of a rectangular block with ribbed parts.
    Regulations

Replacing the cabin filter Opel Astra J is carried out in accordance with the regulations on maintenance- every 10,000-15,000 kilometers. However, when operating in difficult conditions, the filter element may become clogged earlier.

Signs of a clogged Opel Astra J filter

  • Bad smell inside the cabin. It does not fade and is permanent.
  • Weak flow of incoming air through the deflectors. A clogged filter element loses its capacity and a kind of plug is formed that prevents air from entering.
  • Increased fuel consumption. Due to the fact that air conditioner cannot provide the necessary air supply to the cabin, it has to be turned on at a higher power, which negatively affects fuel consumption.
  • Dust formation (when driving with the windows closed) on the interior panels. It may also indicate that the Opel Astra J cabin filter needs to be replaced.
  • Plaque and dirt on the cleaning filter. It may have a different origin (pollution is clearly visible on thematic photos and videos).

For work you will need:

Toyota Land The Cruiser 200 has been in production since 2007. This is a real old-timer of the market. And the point here is not that he has been on the assembly line for 12 years, but that he is at the same time the leader of the segment, because sales are only growing every year.

And all this is due to the fact that the brutal Japanese SUV is constantly being improved and modernized, as well as updated with new versions. And one of the last Land Cruiser 200 TRD. What is interesting this car? Maybe this new competitor GLS 63 AMG or X7M?

What is TRD? TRD stands for Toyota Racing Development. This is a special division of the brand, which is engaged in fine-tuning cars. It's like AMG or M Performance. But there are some differences.

Design first. What kind of body kits were not installed on Land cruiser 200. At first these were projects from famous tuning studios, but now Toyota periodically releases new versions on its own. And the latest version is the Land Cruiser 200 TRD.

First of all, the car differs from the civilian version in a sports body kit. Here and in front the bumper is very massive, and in the rear there are large overhangs. All this impairs permeability. All other body parts are exactly the same as in civilian versions. The body kit is similar in style to the Executive Lounge version, but has sharper edges and TRD badges. The TRD logo flaunts on the fifth door and grille.

Interior. In the cabin, only the engine start button has changed, there is nothing new here. The only thing that has become a little more items made of genuine leather. And in the rest of the plan, everything is identical to the standard versions. Inside Japanese frame SUV traditionally spacious, comfortable and cozy. Ergonomics at the highest level. Unless the level of multimedia is frustrating. For that kind of money, it could have been better. But on the other hand, there are all-round cameras here, so the visibility here is ideal. And the driving position is high due to the presence of the frame.

Engine and ride quality. In the special version, they did not change anything. The car is equipped with the same engines: 4.5 liters diesel, 249 hp, 4.6 liters petrol, 309 hp. And I must say that the car is going very cheerfully.

Comparing this SUV with a frame and a solid rear axle to Mercedes-Benz or BMW is simply pointless. But there is one but. For the TRD version, the car is equipped with an adaptive suspension by default. You can also set the value ground clearance. It is very comfortable. It is worth noting only one minus of all Land Cruiser 200 engines. They are very voracious. If you drive a car with a diesel engine, then you can easily reach a fuel consumption of 17-19 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers.

Off-road driving. Here the SUV manifests itself in all its glory. There is also a hydropneumatic suspension, and KDSS system, and Crawl Control. You can also block the rear axle. Especially off-road cameras of all-round visibility help. And for greater safety, you can turn off the airbags. Off-road it's a must. In this one, the Land Cruiser 200 is the best. And everyone knows this.

Outcome. A new version Toyota Land Cruiser 200 TRD is a great addition for those who love dynamic driving and beautiful appearance. A car in this design costs about 6.5 million rubles. And this is an acceptable price for such a reliable, frame and spacious car.

Replacing the cabin filter is a fairly common procedure that should not be neglected. In my aster, I replace it every 15-20 thousand km, but if there is high humidity in the cabin (which, thank God, I don’t), it is recommended to change it more often. To replace it with an Opel Astra J 1.7CDTi, I used a carbon filter with the number 13271191 worth 2,000 rubles.

To replace the cabin filter, you will need to completely remove the glove compartment, since it is located behind it. And so, let's stop!

Remove the bottom cover of the glove compartment. To do this, unscrew one 7 mm torx screw and remove the cover, which is held on by 2 latches. There is a slight subtlety here, you need to pull the bottom cover towards you, instead of pushing it away from you, since the movable part of the latches is located closer to the passenger seat (see photo).

Now you need to remove the side panel located between the glove compartment and the door. To do this, move the door seal aside, and then move the side panel to the right. The panel is held with three latches and a hook, which is important not to break, otherwise it will subsequently rattle when driving.

Now you can remove the glove compartment. It is held on by four 7mm torx screws. When removing the glove compartment, be extremely careful not to damage the backlight wires. Therefore, we remove the glove box and as soon as the backlight wire becomes visible, turn it off, after which you can completely remove the glove box.

Behind the glove compartment are the main elements of the ventilation system. We find a black square "box", which is a compartment containing a cabin filter. In order to tilt the cover, it is necessary to disconnect the clip on each side (shown by arrows in the photo below).

To remove the cabin filter, you need to pull it towards you, with this I had some difficulties, since no protruding elements that could be grabbed on the cabin filter were found. In general, I used a screwdriver with a flat sting, insert it with the case and the filter so as to pick it up and "tear" it out of the compartment.

Next, we install a new filter to replace the old one, while making sure that the air flow direction arrow drawn on the filter is pointing down. Next, close the lid, make sure that it closes without cracks.

Install the previously removed glove box in place ( most importantly, do not forget to connect the backlight power!), that's basically all, the work is finished, everything about everything took about 15 minutes.

Finally, a couple of photos of the old and new filters, as they say, for comparison.

Good luck on the roads!

Good day everyone! If you are looking for information on how to replace the Opel Astra J cabin filter, then you have come to the right place. In the article you will find the most complete instructions to help you get the job done. A separate photo with a commentary will be added to each stage of the procedure, and a video will be added at the end of the article, in which everything is described and shown in detail. So let's go.

Why and when to change the cabin filter for Opel Astra J?

The cabin filter is designed to filter the air entering the interior of the car. In older cars, there was no such option and air entered the car interior along with dust, dirt, foliage and insects. Now cars have become more technologically advanced and almost every model provides for a cabin filter in the design.

It should be understood that during operation, the cabin filter, like any other filter element, becomes unusable. It is not difficult to determine a clogged filter if you simply remove it and evaluate the external condition. On most cars, this is done in just a couple of minutes and without any tools. The removed filter can be shaken or blown with a compressor, which will slightly extend its life. However, in some vehicles, more effort is required to reach the cabin air filter. In this case, in order not to do this work several times, it is more correct to immediately replace the cabin filter with a new one. And indirect signs will help determine whether the cabin filter is clogged.

Firstly, if in wet weather the windows in the car began to fog up very much, then the first thing to do is to replace the Opel Astra J cabin filter.

Secondly, if in the winter season the stove in the car began to blow worse, then the cause of the malfunction may be hiding in a clogged cabin filter.

Thirdly, if, when you turn on the heater or air conditioner, you begin to notice bad smell from the air ducts, the cabin filter needs to be replaced as soon as possible. The filter is clogged, and due to the accumulation of condensate, bacteria began to multiply on it.

These three signs will be enough to understand whether a salon is required on a car or not. And if you own a car for a long time, you should know that the Opel Astra J cabin filter changes every 30,000 km. If the machine is used in dusty conditions, then it is better to reduce the replacement interval to 15,000 km.

Instructions for replacing the Opel Astra J cabin filter with your own hands in 5 steps

Step 1. We move the door sealing gum from the front passenger side and disconnect the decorative plastic trim. The cover is fastened with latches, so there is no need to wrap anything. Just pull the cover to the side. This is required in order to get to the screws securing the glove box.

Step 2. Open the glove compartment and unscrew the four mounting screws with a 7 "head, as shown in the photo below:

We pull the glove box towards ourselves and put it on the floor. The ceiling wire can not be disconnected to save time. Its length is enough.

Step 3. We pinch the two latches along the edges of the cabin filter plug with our fingers and remove it to the side.

Step 4. We take out the old cabin filter and install a new one in its place. Observe the correct position of the filter element. If AIR FLOW is written, then the arrow on the filter should point down.
