Toyota Mark X: specifications, photos and reviews. Toyota introduced the updated Mark X sedan All trim levels of Toyota Mark X

The full-size sedan, produced by Toyota since 2004, has become a truly legendary car in the Japanese market. However, the long history of the model, sporty character, interesting design, amazing reliability and relatively low price led to the fact that in some regions of Russia there were numerous fans of this car. Moreover, they are not stopped even by the fact that the car comes exclusively with a right-hand drive, which is why driving a car on our vast roads becomes not a very convenient task.

In 2009, the production and release of the second generation of Toyota Mark X began. The new car took the base of its predecessor, making only small design changes to it, which added even more sporty dynamics and sharpness when driving.

More:

A large number of Toyota Mark X owners do not stop praising the reliability, power and unpretentiousness of not only the Mark power units, but also all Japanese engines in general. However, the 3-liter unit from the machine in question has one weak spot. - the risk of loss of compression in the 5th cylinder due to factory miscalculations by Toyota engineers. But this problem concerns more car owners who do not really like to watch the oil level in the engine;

Another weakness of the machine is the premature failure of the starter brushes. Although this is not a serious and expensive breakdown, their frequent replacement causes some trouble for many owners due to the complexity of the location of the starter;

Oil consumption.

Like many "Japanese", this car loves to eat butter. In principle, this is not a big problem, because its normal consumption is only 0.5 liters per 1 thousand km. But, due to the fact that many owners forget about the need to monitor the oil level, a gradual decrease in its level negatively affects the general condition of the engine and, ultimately, can lead to serious consequences;

A frequent breakdown of machines of this model is the rapid wear and tear of the generator brushes. This is not to say that this is a big problem, but the unexpected loss of battery power on the road can greatly upset the owner. The problem is treated by simply replacing the node, since its cost is estimated at several hundred rubles;

Shock absorbers.

Constant oil leaks from under the oil seals of the shock absorber struts of the owner of the Toyota Mark X are no longer surprising. The design flaws of this node just need to be accepted and try not to subject it to heavy loads in order to extend the service life a little;

Many owners of a used car note that in trim levels for which a multifunction steering wheel is provided, it responds very poorly to commands, and sometimes refuses to work at all. The problem can only be cured by a complete replacement of the steering wheel, or by repairing the copper ring responsible for transmitting signals to the audio system;

Long warm-ups.

During the winter months, it can take up to half an hour for your car to warm up to idle at operating temperature, which is an annoyance for many owners. This disease is caused by the fact that the thermostat opens too early, and the volume of coolant (especially for versions with a 3.5 liter engine) is very large;

Oxygen sensors (lambda).

Another malfunction that can cause severe discomfort to the owner is the incorrect operation of the engine and increased fuel consumption due to the failure of the so-called lambda probes. This problem manifests itself on runs of more than 70 thousand km. and is solved by a complete replacement of the sensor;

Brake system.

The operating problems of Toyota Mark X can also include excessively weak brakes. This design defect was eliminated only on restyled versions of the 2nd generation of this model. The rest of the owners have to be content with what they have, or put brake calipers from other cars;

The main disadvantages of Toyota Mark X

  • Poor sound insulation of the wheel arches, which is why the rumble of the wheels is clearly heard in the cabin;
  • Right-hand drive;
  • Sufficiently high fuel consumption;
  • Low quality of materials and overall assembly of the cabin;
  • Rigid suspension;
  • Low clearance;
  • Low permeability;
  • High requirements for fuel quality;
  • Bad headlights;
  • Weak stove;
  • High tax due to powerful engine.

Conclusion.

What's wrong with a full-size sedan made specifically for the Japanese market? Everyone knows that the Japanese have always left only the best for internal use, and this car is no exception. And although the Toyota Mark X is not without flaws, its advantages over competitors far outweigh them. And if you still install a left-hand drive on it, as many domestic craftsmen do, this sedan will truly have no price.

P.S.: Dear car owners, if you have noticed systematic breakdowns of any parts, assemblies of this model, please report it in the comments below.

The main disadvantages and weaknesses of the Toyota Mark X with mileage was last modified: March 17th, 2019 by Administrator

The second incarnation of the Toyota Mark X mid-size sedan made its premiere in the fall of 2009 as part of the international show in Tokyo, inheriting the base from its predecessor with minimal changes, but having received an improved design and new functionality.

In August 2012, an updated version of the four-door was presented to the public, which changed externally, but remained without any technical metamorphosis.

And in November 2016, the “second Mark X” was overtaken by the second update - it, again, was refreshed in appearance and interior, and was also equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense P package (which includes systems: adaptive cruise control, frontal collision avoidance with the function of pedestrian detection, traffic sign recognition, traffic lane monitoring, as well as automatic headlight switching).

The body of the "second" Toyota Mark X with classic three-volume proportions flaunts a sophisticated, stylish and beautiful design. In the design of the front, attention is drawn to the original headlights and the X-shaped ornament on the grille, and the stern contains beautiful lights and a sculpted bumper with two “trunks” of the exhaust system. Yes, and in profile, the car is good thanks to a fairly dynamic shape with “pumped up” wheel arches.

The Japanese E-class sedan is 4750 mm long, which fits into a wheelbase of 2850 mm, 1795 mm wide and 1435 mm high. For rear-wheel drive versions, the ground clearance is 155 mm, and for all-wheel drive versions it is 5 mm less. The curb weight of the car ranges from 1510 to 1560 kg.

The interior of the second generation Toyota Marx X looks strict and solid, emphasizing the high status of the car with its appearance. An 8-inch “TV” of the multimedia center rises on the center console, and a little lower is the “remote control” of the air conditioner. The driver is directly responsible for a stylish steering wheel with controls and an elegant “toolkit” with two “wells” and a color display. Finishing materials inside the sedan as a selection - expensive plastics, genuine leather and decor "aluminum".

The front seats in the car “flaunt” an ergonomic profile with developed lateral support rollers and a decent set of adjustments, and the rear row of seats provides comfortable accommodation and sufficient space for two adult passengers (the third one will obviously be superfluous).

With practicality, the "second" Mark X is in full order - the luggage compartment has 479 liters in standard form. The back of the "gallery", divided into two parts, is transformed, significantly increasing the cargo capacity of the "hold".

Specifications. The Toyota Mark X power palette includes two gasoline units - these are atmospheric V-shaped “sixes” with multi-point fuel supply and a 24-valve DOHC timing belt. Both motors are installed in conjunction with a six-range automatic transmission and rear axle drive wheels, and an all-wheel drive transmission is also available for the “junior”.

  • Under the hood of the base sedans is a 2.5-liter engine (2499 cubic centimeters), producing 203 "horses" at 6400 rpm and 243 Nm of peak torque at 4800 rpm. Thanks to these characteristics, the car accelerates to the first "hundred" after 8 seconds, gains a maximum of 190-225 km / h and consumes an average of no more than 10.6-11.8 liters of fuel in the combined driving cycle.
  • Powerful versions are equipped with a 3.5-liter (3456 cubic centimeter) “aspirated” engine, producing a herd of 318 “heads” at 6400 rpm and 380 Nm of torque at 4800 rpm. After 7 seconds, "Mark X" with this "heart" exchanges 100 km / h and continues to accelerate up to 250 km / h. Passport "appetite" - 10 liters per "hundred" in the "city / highway" mode.

At the heart of the Toyota Mark X in the 130th body is the Toyota N platform, which implies a longitudinal engine. At the front, the car has an independent suspension on double wishbones, and at the rear - a multi-link design.
The steering system of the three-volume model is built according to the rack-and-pinion type with an integrated electric power steering, and disc mechanisms on all wheels with ABS, Brake Assist and EBD are responsible for its effective braking.

Options and prices. Official sales of the Toyota Mark X of the second incarnation are carried out only in the Japanese market (in China, its “twin brother” is sold under the name Reiz).
At home, a 2017 model year car is available at a price of 2,656,800 yen (~ 1,543 thousand rubles at the exchange rate at the end of 2016) for the simplest equipment. Standardly, a four-door is equipped with seven airbags, dual-zone “climate”, ABS, ESP, 16-inch steel wheel rims, power windows for all doors, standard audio system and other modern "chips".
The “top-end” version costs a minimum of 3,850,200 yen (~ 2,236 thousand rubles), and its signs are leather trim, 18-inch aluminum rollers, a multimedia system with an 8-inch screen, heated front seats with electric adjustments , bi-xenon head optics and much more.

At the Tokyo International Auto Show in the fall of 2004, Toyota organized an official demonstration of a completely new sedan called the Mark X with the in-house code “X120”, a direct successor to the legendary Mark II model, which not only changed its image, but also changed noticeably in technical terms.

In 2006, the car was slightly updated, having received minor improvements to the exterior and interior, after which it was produced until 2009.

The Toyota Mark X of the first generation looks attractive and very solid, and it “does not smell” of sportiness in its appearance. An assertive front end with “complex” optics and a chrome-plated “shield” of the radiator grille, a classic three-volume silhouette and a embossed stern with nice lamps and a massive bumper into which trapezoidal exhaust pipes are integrated - the car is harmonious, from whatever angle you look.

"Mark X" of the first generation is the "player" of the E-class according to European standards with the corresponding body dimensions: 4730 mm long, 1435 mm high and 1775 mm wide. Between the axles of the four-door there is a 2850 mm gap, and its ground clearance is 155 mm. In the "combat" state, the machine weighs from 1500 to 1570 kg, depending on the version.

The interior of the "first" Toyota Mark X meets riders with a nice and interesting design, emphasized by good-quality finishing materials and high build quality. Behind the weighty multifunctional steering wheel is a concise and informative instrument panel, and in the center of the dashboard there is a wide console with a color screen of a multimedia complex and an air conditioning unit.

Inside the "Mark X" of the first incarnation is comfortable and roomy. The front seats demonstrate a well-thought-out profile with well-developed sidewalls and have a wide range of adjustments, and the rear sofa is hospitably molded (although it is more suitable for two passengers due to the high floor tunnel).

In the "marching" form, the cargo compartment of the Toyota Mark X holds 437 liters of luggage. The backrests of the rear seats are individually thrown forward, which allows you to transport large or oblong objects in the "hold". A compact spare tire and a tool kit are hidden in the underground niche of the trunk.

Specifications. For the first generation "Mark X" there are two gasoline six-cylinder "aspirated" with a V-shaped configuration, 24-valve DOHC timing and direct fuel injection into the combustion chamber.

  • The "younger" unit is a 2.5-liter "six" (2499 cubic centimeters), which develops 215 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 260 Nm of torque at 3800 rpm. A 6-band "automatic" in tandem with a rear-wheel drive transmission, or a 5-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system work with him, providing the car with an average fuel consumption of 7.9-9 liters per "hundred" in combined conditions.
  • The “senior” version is a 3.0-liter engine (2994 cubic centimeters), in the arsenal of which there are 256 “mares” at 6200 rpm and 314 Nm of torque at 3600 rpm. A 6-speed automatic transmission with manual operation is responsible for delivering power to the rear wheels, resulting in a sedan requiring 8.4 liters of gasoline in mixed mode per 100 km.

The Toyota Mark X of the first generation is based on the Toyota N platform with a power unit located in the longitudinal plane and an independent chassis design on both axles. The front wheels of the car are suspended by means of a double-lever architecture, and a multi-link scheme is used in the rear part (stabilizers are installed “in a circle”).
As standard, the sedan is equipped with a rack and pinion steering system, in which a hydraulic control booster is implanted. The “Japanese” has disc brakes on all wheels, supplemented by ventilation in the front, with a set of modern “assistants” - ABS, EBD and Brake Assist.

Powerful engines, balanced driving characteristics, a high level of comfort and a reliable design - these are the main advantages of the Japanese "classic".
But the sedan also has disadvantages - expensive maintenance, sensitivity to the quality of gasoline and high fuel consumption.

Options and prices. In the Russian secondary market, Toyota Mark X is quite common, and its prices start at 300 thousand rubles. All vehicle configurations, without exception, “flaunt” frontal airbags, power windows for all doors, dual-zone “climate”, audio system, ABS, EBD, BA, multifunctional steering wheel and much more.

Toyota Mark X, 2010

This is my third car, and the third "Mark". The first was "Mark" in 100 body 2.5 grande. He probably predetermined my next choice of car. I fell in love with this car before I even owned it. After the purchase, I thought that this was the best of the Marks that the Japanese produced, because I didn’t like 90 and 110 bodies at all, I had no idea about the existence of Xs, and I was not lucky enough to ride on previous bodies. Driving the Toyota Mark X home after buying it, I felt all its charms (in comparison with the 100 and 110 "Marks"), relatively stiff suspension, combined with 18 molding, and low-profile tires. The car reacted to the slightest movement of the steering wheel accurately and sharply. A 6-speed automatic, tuned for an aggressive driving style, with a little more pressure on the pedal, immediately hurried to drop the speed and the car took off. Even at a speed of 170, when the pedal was pressed to the floor, a sharp acceleration was felt, the arrow was already lying, and he continued to pick up speed, and without waiting for the engine to turn off, he released the gas pedal. The speeds on the go with a quiet ride are not noticeable at all, you can only see how the speeds are switched by the tachometer needle. There is also a manual switch, but I have not used it yet, just see it this way. But the Japanese made a mistake with the soundproofing of the arches and the bottom, everything that flies off the wheels and hits the bottom of the Toyota Mark X is very well audible, and the noise of the wheels is clearly audible.

About the interior of Toyota Mark X, of course, a double impression. On the one hand, these are seats with good lateral support, moderately hard, with a lot of settings for the driver, a lot of legroom, reclining and folding rear seats, stove outlets for rear passengers, a glasses compartment in the ceiling, a large armrest glove compartment. On the other hand, the on-board computer is not very well located, which shows the temperature overboard, instantaneous and average consumption, as it is located at the top between the speedometer and tachometer and is not visible from behind the wheel, and you have to look in. The steering wheel adjustment lever is inconveniently located, for me it was more convenient on the side as it was on 110, the interior trim in the photo looked richer than it actually turned out, too much plastic on the doors, again cheaply forged wood, the rag of which the doors are sheathed looks very cheap and fast gets dirty. Of the innovations, this is a place for jars or 0.5 bottles in all doors. All in all, Toyota is still skimping on trim quality.

Advantages : manageability. Dynamics. Design. Equipment.

disadvantages : soundproofing. Interior ergonomics. Finish quality.

Toyota Mark X, 2010

Prior to the Toyota Mark X, he owned a 2004 Honda Legend. Bought "Mark" used from Japan. Since there are less than 50 thousand km on the odometer and the car drove along perfectly smooth roads, we can assume that the car is almost new. I want to note right away that the Toyota Mark X is softer than the Legend, I can immediately say about the interior that it is without frills, there is everything you need, but no more, for normal use and the user will go. It does not pull on the executive class, no matter how they pull. In the cabin, I can put “3+” no more, regardless of the configuration. For the “Mark” in the S configuration, they ask for a million, I think this is a clear bust, all the “twists” do not cost 300 thousand rubles, about the same difference between the usual configuration and the more “fat” one. This comparison is for cars with 2.5 engines. I would like to note that the Toyota Mark X is rear-wheel drive, it was a little scary when buying, but as they say, if you liked something, it is difficult to convince yourself. Consumption for this car is optimal, 12 liters in the city with maximum traffic jams, with air conditioning 13, at the moment it shows 7.3 km / l, it’s not difficult to calculate. 1000 rubles is enough for a week or 250 km. Legend 2000 thousand requested per week. Outside the city, the minimum consumption that I recorded was in the region of 6.8 per 100 km, these indicators were checked on a computer and in an old-fashioned way. The data is given with the 95th gasoline, I don’t pour anything else. I did not go in the winter, I can not say anything about the consumption.

Let's move on to dynamic performance: 203 "horses", V6, Toyota Mark X, rear-wheel drive is enough. Feelings, of course, are completely different compared to 4vd or front-wheel drive, and you just want to enter the turn sideways. They say that when you turn on the sport mode in the car, another 12 “horses” appear from somewhere and a total of 215, as a person with a higher education, I think that this statement is complete nonsense, if 203 “horses” are declared from the factory, then they and there is, but 215 is out of the question. The Toyota Mark X has a multi-link suspension, everything new didn’t climb much, everything is dry and clean, there’s not much to say about repair and cost, but I think there won’t be any particular difficulties. The running gear is identical to the Crown. The passage of bumps and small pits on a solid “4+” wheels are native at 16, if you put them on 18, it will be tougher, but at the same time, beauty requires sacrifice. Noise isolation on "4-", not a representative class, of course, needs to be improved.

Advantages : rear drive. Powerful motor. Reliability.

disadvantages : not really like the salon. Noise isolation.
