Summer tires rating driving r18. The best summer tires

Tires of the dimension we have chosen are still the most in demand on the Russian market (although there has been a tendency to switch to 17- and even 18-inch wheels). The rather tall, 55 percent profile of the 16-inch wheels allows for a balance between good handling and tolerable ride on our far from the best roads.

This size has the widest range of models and brands. Among the bright premieres of our test - Pirelli tire Cinturato P7 in Blue, just on sale. And for the first time we are trying out the Bridgestone Ecopia EP200 and Toyo Proxes CF2 models.

A couple of test cars - Golfs with non-switchable stabilization system. The tires were tested at the end of last summer in order to have time to capture all the novelties of the upcoming 2015 season. The weather during the tests did not bake with heat: the thermometer showed 20-25 degrees Celsius.

Volkswagen Golf- the most massive test car of all tire companies, and for good reason. Its immediate responses and crisp, easy-to-understand handling make it easy for experts to assess tire performance.

The Golf has a fairly "transparent" suspension that does not hide road noise and vibrations - it is enough for our testers to evaluate both the smoothness of the ride and the contribution of the tires to the sound background. The stabilization system on this machine is not disabled, but this is more of a plus than a minus. We tried to remove this feature initially with our custom hardware and found that the Golf with ESP disabled became excessively fidgety. The car had to be brought out of the skid in the initial phase, instantly and with precise movements. A little delayed or overdone - and Volkswagen could turn 180 degrees in a second or fly far to the side. Scary!

We are currently testing tires without disabling ESP. The Golf's electronics are set up very loyally, in no hurry to take action at the slightest hint of drift or drift, as, for example, in Volvo. Our experts are able to evaluate and predict the behavior of the car and the initial phases of sliding.

There is an opinion that tires with a higher speed index are preferable for driving on bad roads. They, they say, are stronger than slow ones. This is not true. High indexes of speed and carrying capacity do not at all mean increased resistance of tires to impacts in pits and curb rubbing.

The design of high-speed tires is such that it does not allow centrifugal forces to break it apart at high speed. Often this is achieved by using an additional reinforcing tape between the breaker and the frame. As a rule, retribution for this is increased rigidity, and sometimes noise. But the sidewalls remain almost the same as those of less high-speed tires. Namely, they are damaged on impact.

No need to rely on tires with an increased load index (tires with an index of 90 can carry 600 kg, with an index of 91 - 615 kg, 92 - 630, 93 - 650, 94 - 670 kg), even when it is supplemented with the letters XL or the words Extra load. Yes, tires with a high index have reinforced sidewalls and carcass, they are more durable, but their task is to carry more weight, evenly distribute the load in the contact patch, and not keep the sidewalls intact during a powerful impact. As our experience shows, after a wheel gets into a hole with sharp edges, tires with different load-carrying capacity indexes are destroyed in the same way. The difference is only in the size of the damaged areas. A stronger tire has a smaller wound, but it will still have to be thrown away.

Sometimes, more often in the spring, when the pits are especially deep, we raise the tire pressure by 0.3-0.5 bar above the recommended one. This worsens the grip of the wheels with the road and the smoothness of the ride, but adds to the tires resistance to breakdown.

A serious struggle unfolded among the leaders. The milestone of 900 points, which we consider an indicator of excellent tires, was overcome by six models at once. Rare case. It is noteworthy that five of them boast the highest efficiency. The difference between the braking distances is measured in decimeters, and the speed at the rearrangement is measured in tenths of a kilometer per hour.

With 944 points, the updated Pirelli Cinturato P7 Blue rose above all, which on wet surfaces showed the best braking properties and the highest speed on the rearrangement. In addition, it provides clear handling and excellent directional stability. Cinturato also had the best price-quality ratio among the leading six - 3.81. Indeed, for an eminent tire, the price of 3600 rubles is quite modest.

Having lost 18 points to the leader, the Nokian Hakka Blue model is on the second position. This tire matched the Pirelli speed in the wet and set the record in the dry. Slightly saved in braking on dry pavement. Those who choose this tire will certainly appreciate its positive impact on the handling and road holding of the car. Price - 3650 rudders apiece.

Third place went to the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance tire (only one point behind Hakka). The experts gave her the palm in the "Comfort" nomination. Grip properties are high both on dry and wet roads. Goodyear let us down only in handling on dry roads: the difficult behavior of the Golf during extreme maneuvering limited the speed during a sharp lane change at a rearrangement. If you put EfficientGrip Performance on a car without ESP, then in such situations you need to be extremely careful. Price - 3700 rubles, value for money - 3.99 (average value among top tires).

The Michelin Primacy 3 tire scored 926 and took a high fourth place. Primacy has good grip properties; it provides clear handling and directional stability. But what Michelin has surpassed everyone in is the price: 4,000 rubles apiece. A well-known name is always expensive.

The fifth line in the ranking is occupied by the South Korean Hankook Ventus Prime 2. It was this model that broke through to the initial configuration of the Mercedes S-class, and quite deservedly - 921 points in our test. The Ventus Prime 2 delivers high traction and keeps you on course. Reaching the podium was prevented by not the best fuel efficiency indicators and small comments from experts regarding ride comfort and handling in extreme conditions. Hankook is offered for 3400 rubles.

The fifth generation Continental ContiPremiumContact tire is in sixth position with 913 points. Leading braking properties on dry roads and high fuel efficiency. The rest of the indicators are from good to excellent, but not record-breaking. Sold for 4000 rubles. The Germans, like Michelin, keep the mark.

In seventh place is the domestically produced Nordman SX with 890 points. Undershoot to the coveted mark "900" - only a dozen, less than two percent. Almost all indicators are above average, we did not encounter difficulties and surprises in driving a car on these tires. With such indicators - only 2800 rubles apiece. The value for money of 3.15 is the best in the test. Nordman deserves the title of crisis fighter.

Toyo Proxes CF2: 876 points and eighth place. The braking performance on dry pavement is equivalent to Nordman's, on wet pavement these tires are inferior to Nordman by about half a meter. A bit faster in the dry, a bit slower in the wet. It can boast of exemplary economy. But the level of ride comfort on Proxes CF2 tires is low. I guess not everyone is ready to put up with it. The price of 3500 rubles is considered too high.

In ninth place with 857 points is the Bridgestone Ecopia EP200. Good for fuel economy, but in our test, seven tire models gave the same result. In all other respects, far from being a leader. The EP200 has poor dry traction, but the Ecopia failed in the wet. In extreme conditions, the handling of the Golf with these tires kept our test riders on their toes. Driving on a winding highway will have to be done with extreme care. Usually Bridgestone brand tires are very expensive, but the price tag of this tire is relatively modest: 3550 rubles.

Tenth place and 849 points - the result of Cordiant Sport 3. Braking on wet pavement is above average, on dry pavement - second from the bottom. Handling on a dry surface is difficult, on a wet one it is problematic, so a sharp change of lane will be successful only at low speeds. Fuel consumption was the highest in the test. The directional stability on these tires is not the best: driving at high speed requires extreme concentration, you can not relax for a second. The price does not seem to be the highest - 3100 rubles, but there are better and cheaper tires.

At the eleventh position is Kama Euro 129. It has only 806 points in its piggy bank. Not enough for a modern tire. All measurement results, with the exception of the average fuel consumption, are the worst. In braking on dry pavement, it loses to the leader by almost six meters, on wet pavement - four and a half. Under no circumstances would I sharply maneuver on these tires: the car can break into a slip, and even ESP will not help. I am silent about the ride comfort, here it does not smell like that. The most pleasant indicator is the price, the lowest in the test: 2600 rubles.

Barum Bravuris 2:
with shark fins

This tire will look advantageous both on a family car and on a car retouched by tuning. It has a catchy asymmetric tread pattern with dense outer shoulder blocks that provide stable handling and safe braking on dry roads, and wildly curved inner zone blocks. Together with the shark fin lugs, they reduce the risk of hydroplaning and ensure reliable braking on wet roads. Add here four wide longitudinal channels - and it becomes clear that everything is in order with the water resistance of the tire. And how impressive one of the ribs of the central zone looks, as if lined with the letters “M”! The tire successfully resists wear thanks to an optimized profile and the latest rubber compound using silica.

The tire is presented in a wide range of sizes and prices. For the 185/55 R15 H (210 km/h) option, you need to pay about 3000 rubles, which is generally inexpensive for such a model, but if you have huge rollers, say 255/35 R20 Y (300 km/h), - do not be stingy with 11,900 rubles. (for one wheel, of course).

Sava Intensa UHP:
combination of incongruous

The very combination of the concepts of "budget" and "ultra-high-speed" (that is, UHP) is already unusual. But this model for sports and premium cars really combines an extraordinary (in its price category, of course) handling on dry and wet roads with a high level of comfort. The wide tread provides optimal pressure distribution and a large footprint, while the massive central rib and rigid shoulder tread blocks keep your back dry when cornering. Four wide longitudinal channels quickly remove water, and thanks to the special formula of the silica-based rubber compound, it adheres perfectly to wet roads. The tire carcass made of modern heavy-duty materials optimally distributes the load across the entire width of the tread and significantly reduces rolling resistance, which means that your car will ask to eat less.

All this pleasure is not so inaccessible. Let's say the popular size 225/55 R16 W (270 km/h) will cost about 4700-5000 rubles. More tires, for example 255/35 R18 Y (300 km / h), will cost about 7300 rubles.

Cordiant Sport 3:
drives on normal roads

The domestic brand, successfully operating in the B-segment, recently introduced another tire for active driving, which is stated in the name itself. Externally, the tire really has all the features of a sports model. This is for you and the outer shoulder area of massive blocks, and three solid central ribs, and the inner side, divided between them by transverse arcuate grooves. All this promises good cornering grip, reliable directional stability and precise steering responses. Dry-Cor technology eliminates directional fluctuations and does not allow the tire to deform in a turn, maintaining tire grip and contact patch stability, as well as preventing drifts and skids. Optimized carcass distributes load for better pressure distribution. The designers also worked on the composition of the rubber compound under the speaking name Sport-Mix. It was created on the basis of a combination of two rubbers - styrene-butadiene and diene, where the first is responsible for grip, and the second reduces tire heating. But, despite the abundance of beautiful terms in the description, this tire does not belong to the category of truly sports and is not suitable for track days, although it makes it possible to steer with pleasure on ordinary roads.

Tire prices are quite humane. Option 195/65 R15 V (240 km / h) can be found from 2000 rubles. Running size 225/55 R16 V will cost from 4800 rubles.

Tigar Syneris:
all contradictory

Of the inexpensive high-speed models, this is perhaps the most controversial. Let's start with the fact that she looks great. A symmetrical directional tread, two central ribs with checkers resembling an arrow plumage pattern, graceful shoulder blocks cut with curved grooves - all this will decorate any car. This concept is typical for "rain" tires, and this tire really grips well in the wet. On dry pavement, it will also please with a soft ride, moderate noise and good tenacity, and at high speed. But you have to pay for the pleasure, and this time not with money (everything is just right with the prices here). But tire resistance to wear, to put it mildly, is not the best. If you burn rubber at the start and squeal with it in corners, it's not guaranteed that it will last more than a couple of seasons.

The common size 205/55 R16 V can be found from about 2600 rubles, and the largest in the line, 245/45 R18 W (270 km / h), will cost about 11,000 rubles.

Kama Euro-129:
driver set of qualities

Popular domestic rubber, which combines several qualities so necessary for our drivers: strength, eye-catching pattern, relatively high speed limit, good handling and low price. The model debuted in 2009 and is still in stable demand. With an asymmetrical tread pattern, the outer side provides maximum grip in dry conditions, while the inner side provides maximum grip in the wet. The outer shoulder blocks are extra stiff to provide good lateral grip in corners. At the same time, strong sidewalls guarantee stability under lateral loads and at the same time protect the tire from deformation on the roads of the Russian outback. Three wide longitudinal grooves, as well as specially shaped blocks, help remove water from the contact patch. Another feature was the patented tire wear indicator, which allows you to determine the residual depth of the tread pattern, and is also able to detect camber/toe failure at the initial stage. We will not dare to call the tire a sports tire, but the fact that it allows you to drive quickly even on mediocre surfaces is for sure.

Even a small size 175/70 R13 starts with a speed index H (210 km/h), and you can buy it from 1500 rubles. Option 215/60 R16 V (240 km / h) will cost from 2700 rubles.

Kumho Solus HS51:
engineering above all else

This Korean tire looks like a classic sports tire: asymmetrical pattern, rounded, almost solid ribs, deliberately careless attitude to design - engineering is above all. Everything is school: the design of the central part of the tire is responsible for the stability of the tire on a straight line, and the impressive shoulder blocks serve for efficient cornering and resistance to car drift from a given trajectory. The tire is also durable: it is equipped with a steel belt and a seamless cord, as well as a reinforced carcass and a reliable bead cord. In the company's lineup, the Solus brand is worn by several tires of different quality, so pay attention to the alphanumeric index.

For all its merits, the model is moderately accessible. Its most compact size 195/50 R15 V starts from 2400 rubles, and the largest, 235/55 R17 W (270 km/h), costs from 6100 rubles.

Federal Super Steel 595:
sports without any reservations

A truly charismatic model that won the Taiwan Excellence award for quality, excelled in drifting and rally competitions, a sports tire without any qualifications. She is also simply beautiful - the directional V-shaped pattern looks powerful and bewitching. But it's not just about aesthetics. Tread blocks evenly distribute pressure over the entire surface of the contact patch, instantly remove water from it, ensure vehicle stability in a straight line and grip in corners. At the same time, the high quality of the tire is maintained even in the course of its wear. The steel cord is responsible for the strength. True, due to this, it weighs a little more than some analogues, and if someone is concerned about the characteristics of the unsprung masses, then there is reason to think. Otherwise, the tire can promise good acceleration and fast braking, stability on the autobahn and mountain serpentines, and good mileage.

The price tag starts from ridiculous for such a set of characteristics 2600 rubles. (you get the size 195/50 R15 V) and comes to about 8100 r. (for 275/30 R19 W).

Results

So, let's sum up. Most expect two qualities from summer tires: low price and tolerable driving properties. But if you are a supporter of gambling driving and like to get through with the breeze, it becomes more difficult to choose. However, you see: there are options. To make your choice even easier, we've put together a visual table that makes it clear what you can expect from each model.

Your personal mechanic. Puncture! And the nearest workshop is far away, it's nighttime... Have you ever been in such a situation?

Actual seasonal tire tests that appear in the media are usually carried out last season, in a place with suitable climatic parameters, after which they are published on the eve of the next season.

This year, the first publicly available materials were tests summer tires pairs of British editions, namely: "evo" and "Auto Express". A little later, materials from the European alliance ACE / GTU / ARBO and the South Korean consumer union Daejeon Consumer Union came out. They were followed by the tests of the German club ADAC

The consumer magazine AvtoDela, as always, will conduct a comparative test of summer tires, comparing the results of different testing schools and comparing them with what is promised in the description of specific tire models for cars. We will not compare all the test participants, but only those that have “lit up”, at least in two instances. But first, directly about the testing methodology in each of the expert communities.

Magazineevo

The British from the evo edition experienced summer tires size 225/45 R17. The race car was a hot hatchback Volkswagen Golf GTi, which at the same time embodies practicality with a sharp character. The choice of car was not accidental. All the tires covered by the evo magazine, one way or another, are positioned as tires with a sporty character, and some options claim the title of rubber for track days. The results of objective tests with the use of measuring equipment and mathematical calculations accounted for 60% of the final mark, and the remaining 40% fell on the subjective marks of pilots in disciplines that had different priorities. In each test, the best tire received 100%, and the scores for the others were based on the difference with the winner.

Test races took place in Italy - at the European Bridgestone training ground. The program included laps on wet and dry asphalt, braking on dry and wet surfaces, evaluation of economy and hydroplaning with a seven-millimeter layer of water on the asphalt, as well as tests for the level of comfort on the road with various flaws in the canvas (patches, hatches, speed bumps).

Auto Express magazine

Colleagues of the evo magazine, also British from the Auto Express publication, evaluated summer tires in nine parameters, also driving a seventh generation Golf, but not a GTi, but in a civilian version, which is why the test tire sets were of the popular size 205/55 R16. The measurements were carried out at the IDIADA test site in Spain with the support of the Korean tire brand Hankook.

All tires were purchased at the wholesale market, after the manufacturers named the current models that should be covered in the test. As in the "evo" test, the best tire in each discipline received 100%, while the results of the rest were determined depending on the gap from the leader. Wet handling was evaluated on a 1.5km IDIADA track covered in 1mm of water. The circle consisted of high-speed turns and a quick change of direction. After ten attempts on each tire, the average time was determined. Lateral stability was measured on a 27.5 meter diameter circular track where the car accelerated along the inside edge of the track until the nose began to veer off to the side. To calculate the braking distance, a series of decelerations was performed under the supervision of the equipment. Measurements of the level of resistance to hydroplaning were carried out on the canvas with a six-millimeter layer of water. In addition, IDIADA staff checked the noise level in the cabin, but the degree of rolling resistance was already calculated at the Hankook Technology Center in Korea. It is noteworthy that all tires were purchased at the wholesale market, after the manufacturers named the current models that are interesting to participate in the test.

ACE/GTU/ARBO Alliance

The European triad ACE / GTU / ARBO, consisting of the German Society for Technical Supervision (GTÜ), the Automobile Club of Europe (ACE) and the Austrian Automobile Club ARBÖ, “rolled out” 12 sets of summer tires of the same dimension as the Auto Express experts, that is 205/55R16. But if in the previous two tests the tire carrier was Golf, albeit in different modifications, then in the ACE / GTU / ARBO program, new Peugeot 308. Races were held at the training ground in France. The braking distance on a wet surface was considered when decelerating from 80 to 1 km/h, on a dry one - from 100 to 1 km/h. Lateral stability was calculated from the average lap time on a track with a diameter of 90 m. Handling on dry and wet surfaces - lap time plus subjective assessment of tire behavior. Noise - Noise at 80 km/h (dB). Rolling resistance - measurements on the stand at a load of 5,586 N and an air pressure of 2.1 bar. According to the results of the test, the tested tires were divided into three groups: “highly recommended”, “recommended” and “conditionally recommended”. The first group included four models, the second - six and the third - the remaining two.

Korean Consumer Union Daejeon Consumer Union

Korean Consumer Union Daejeon Consumer Union - paid attention to six summer season eco-tires in size 205/55 R16. Ecotires are green tires with low rolling resistance and, as a result, lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. In particular, the tests involved: Bridgestone Ecopia EP100A, Goodyear GT-Eco Stage, Hankook enfren eco H433, Kumho Ecowing S, Michelin Energy Saver + and Nexen N "Blue ECO. At the same time, the Koreans did not indicate the place of each model, but simply talked about the merits and shortcomings of each of the tires.

Among other things, the Koreans conducted a strength test. The measurement was carried out according to the ECE-R30 standard, that is, the tires had to withstand as much time as possible at a certain load level, which depends on the speed index. Nexen turned out to be the most durable, and Goodyear and Kumho “surrendered” the fastest.

In an acoustic comfort test, Daejeon Consumer Union measured the noise level on an uneven surface. Low-, medium- and high-frequency noise were measured separately. As a result, the average the best tires became Bridgestone, which showed almost the same result as Nexen.

In the mechanical comfort tests, several parameters were evaluated, and in a very sophisticated way. The role was played by details such as horizontal and vertical vibrations of the steering wheel, as well as vibrations transmitted through the seat. Also defined average level noise (in dB). According to the results of the calculations, Hankook turned out to be the most comfortable. The shortest braking distance from 100 km / h on a wet surface was demonstrated by Michelin. It also used a system for determining the effectiveness of braking in accordance with the standards that are used in Korea to classify tires.

Of the six tires tested, Hankook was the most energy efficient. At the same time, experts noted that Michelin, although they have a slightly higher rolling resistance, is the fastest to stop a car on a wet road, as a result of which they provide the highest level of safety. At the same time, the average cost of Hankook tires in Korea is 124,000 won, which means that they are attractive not only for their fuel economy, but also for their relatively low price.

In addition, tests have shown that Kumho tires have a low degree of rolling resistance, affordable price and sufficiently high braking efficiency on wet roads, that is, the results of these tires can be considered worthy.

The Nexen had the best high-speed durability despite being the cheapest tires we tested. It was the price that let Michelin down, which, as already mentioned, are the best in terms of safety on wet roads.

ClubADAC

The German automobile club ADAC, albeit a little later than the rest of the testers, released its materials, but in total it covered 35 sets of summer tires, testing 16 tire options of the size 185/60 R14 and 19 tires of an extremely popular type - 205/55 R16. Moreover, the peculiarity of the last test was that it met several pairs of tire models of the same brand. In each pair, one tire belongs to the "green" category, and the second to the "comfort" class. The result is quite interesting: on wet surfaces, so-called eco-tyres consistently perform worse than conventional summer tires from the same brand, but the environmental and economic benefits of "green" tires can actually be subtle.

Comparative part of the 2015 summer tire test review
Bridgestone Ecopia EP100 summer tires test

OFFICIAL INFORMATION

Describing the Bridgestone Ecopia EP100A, the manufacturer claims that thanks to the company's advanced technologies, their tire has reduced rolling resistance and at the same time has excellent braking properties. ECOPIA is a tire that embodies the slogan - One team, one planet (One team, one planet). Comparative tests have shown that ECOPIA EP100A tires are 3.1% more fuel efficient than conventional tyres.

Optimum road contact. Uniform distribution of pressure over the entire surface of the tire, which made it possible to reduce energy losses in the upper layer of rubber. With the help of polymer and silicon additives with a modified structure in the composition of the rubber compound, it was possible to perfectly reduce rolling resistance, and thereby reduce emissions of harmful gases. It was possible to provide excellent driving performance of the car, as well as improve the resistance to aquaplaning with the help of a specially designed tread pattern.

TEST RESULTS

Ecopia EP100A - a new line of summer tires with "green" eco-performance in the model range Japanese company Bridgestone. In this year's tests, the Bridgestone Ecopia EP100 tire was tested by the Korean Daejeon Consumer Union and the German ADAC club. In both cases, in terms of the combination of properties, the new Bridgestone brand presented itself rather weakly. The Germans gave her 13 out of 19 possible positions, writing down “satisfactory” in the group. However, if you understand the nuances, it turns out that everything is not so bad. German experts praised Bridgestone Ecopia EP100 for low fuel consumption and good behavior on dry pavement. That is, in key disciplines, for the eco-segment model, the Japanese model performed confidently. ADAC chided the Bridgestone Ecopia EP100 tire for frivolous behavior on wet surfaces, as well as heavy wear. And this, by the way, is very serious. Is the game worth the candle? The Bridgestone Ecopia EP100 may require less fuel, but if the wear resistance of the tire is weak, then the economy task can close with negative efficiency. The Koreans from Daejeon Consumer Union, who are testing exactly “green” tires against the background of rivals, considered the Bridgestone Ecopia EP100 wasteful. In addition, the purchase price, relative to other tires, is not low.

Tested: ADAC, DaejeonConsumerUnion.

Bridgestone Turanza T001 – summer tires, test

OFFICIAL INFORMATION

Bridgestone is presenting its Turanza T001 as a premium travel tire that takes all the best from the previous ER300 and supposedly has become even more reliable and agile, especially when overcoming long distances and driving at high speeds. Tire Bridgestone Turanza T001, according to the Japanese, should provide a luxurious driving experience, combining the optimal balance between comfort and handling.

TEST RESULTS

Summer tire Bridgestone Turanza T001 this year got into two tests: AutoExpress and tests of the ADAC club, despite the fact that the Turanza T001 model is no longer young. And we can say that in each of the tests, the Japanese tire performed above average. British journalists noted that they were able to perform on par with tires from premium brands Continental and Michelin, and they also praised for low rolling resistance, slightly scolded for braking dynamics. The German testers also gave the Japanese tire a "good" rating, placing it in sixth place. The Germans liked the balance and overall quality behavior on both wet and dry surfaces.

Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 - summer tires test

OFFICIAL INFORMATION

The Continental ContiPremiumContact5 is an excellent all-round tire that combines comfort and safety at the highest level. This is the flagship of the company's tire range, and therefore the manufacturer boasts of technology and high quality.

Continental ContiPremiumContact5 new premium tire for cars from compact models to full-size sedans. It has extremely short braking distances on dry and wet roads, low rolling resistance, excellent performance and comfortable handling.

The improved traction of the Continental Conti Premium Contact5 is achieved through the use of macroblocks, which provide a larger contact patch. 3D grooves help reduce stopping distances, while wide ribs on the inner and outer shoulder enhance wet grip.

The new geometry of the longitudinal grooves prevents hydroplaning even at high speeds. The flatter contour of the tire contributes to even wear and increased tire mileage, while the cross-shaped groove arrangement reduces noise.

The use of a solid rubber compound in the bead sidewall makes the tire stiffer and reduces deformation, while the shoulder remains more flexible and helps reduce rolling resistance. Thus, the movement becomes more comfortable.

TEST RESULTS

The German tires Continental ContiPremiumContact 5 passed in the British, both German and all-European test of summer tires. According to the results of the British races from AutoExpress, the ContiPremiumContact 5 tires were in fifth place, which is commensurate with failure for Continental tires, since before they had always been in the TOP-3. The journalists of the publication attributed the current result to the rapid progress of the entire industry, when yesterday modern tires, tomorrow younger rivals bypass. Auto Express magazine didn't like the braking. Compared to the winner (Dunlop Sport BluResponse), the braking distance was 1.5 meters longer in the wet and two meters in the dry. At the same time, according to the British, the Continental has relatively low rolling resistance, but good handling on wet surfaces, including when exiting slow corners. The same performance was also demonstrated on dry surfaces, where they provide pleasant stern control and high grip on the front axle. However, Continental were the noisiest tires in the magazine's test.

The European alliance ACE/GTU/ARBO does not share this categorical attitude. They have these tires became the second, deserving the rating of "highly recommended". And in home tests, ContiPremiumContact 5 were on the podium, although if in the 185/60 R14 size they became the best (first place), then in the 205/55 R16 tire tests they lost the victory to Michelin Primacy 3 and Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance silver. However, the comments, regardless of the position, are the same: “highly recommended”, extremely balanced tires, excellent behavior on wet and dry surfaces.

Dunlop Sport BluResponse summer tires test

OFFICIAL INFORMATION

Dunlop's Sport BluResponse lightweight summer tire has an almost perfect balance between excellent traction, fuel economy and durability. It was the provision of these indicators that was given great importance in the development of this model. Another of its characteristic features is its exceptionally wide applicability. This tire is offered in more than fifty different sizes for wheels with a bore diameter from 14 to 17 inches.

TEST RESULTS

Dunlop Sport BluResponse summer tires have passed all disciplines in four instances: ACE/GTU/ARBO, Auto Express magazine and both ADAC club sizes. In the test of the European alliance ACE / GTU / ARBO, these tires were awarded “bronze”, in the rating of the ACE / GTU / ARBO magazine they won at all, in the “small” test of the ADAC club they got silver, and in the circle of summer tires of a larger size - an honorable fourth place and nineteen possible. Despite such a difference in places, albeit a very slight one, the general summary of all experts turned out to be similar. The novelty of 2014 showed brilliant performance in each of the disciplines, together showing an excellent balance.

Tested: ADAC, Auto Express, ACE/GTU/ARBO.

Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance - summer tires test

OFFICIAL INFORMATION

Goodyear's EfficientGrip Performance boasts Category A wet grip (A1 wet grip is the highest rating under the EU regulation) and shorter stopping distances.

ActiveBraking technology improves tire contact with the road surface, resulting in a shorter braking distance of up to two meters (8%) when driving on wet roads2 and 3% when driving on dry roads3.

WearControl technology provides the best combination of wet grip and low resistance rolling for the entire life of the tire.

The new base component is based on FuelSaving technology, which reduces the tire's energy dissipation. An 18% reduction in rolling resistance4 means improved fuel efficiency and reduced customer costs.

TEST RESULTS

The Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance tyre, the Dunlop Sport BluResponse's sister tyre, also looks like a comparable strong tire. She also has consistently high places in each of the tests. And all on pedestals. First in the ACE/GTU/ARBO tests and second in the Auto Express measurements and both ADAC tests. And this is not new model and she has already become the best in some tests of previous years. Objectively, Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance is one of the best summer tires of 2015.

Tested: ADAC, Auto Express, ACE/GTU/ARBO.

Fulda EcoControl HP – summer tires test

OFFICIAL INFORMATION

The main advantage of Fulda EcoControl HP tires, which the manufacturer focuses on, is a good price / quality ratio. Fulda tires should provide safe handling and high mileage at a reasonable price. In addition, economical tires must guarantee short braking distances on wet and dry roads.

TEST RESULTS

Fulda EcoControl HP is a tire that is in high demand, even in rich Europe, in the segment of more affordable second-tier tires. The advantages and disadvantages of this tire were evaluated by ACE/GTU/ARBO and ADAC club testers in the dimension 205/55 R16. In the European combined ACE/GTU/ARBO test, these tires were in the second half of the list, yet received a “recommended” rating. The ADAC club considered their results satisfactory, giving these tires the seventh line of their rating. An indisputable plus, according to German experts, was increased wear resistance, and a weak point - properties on wet asphalt.

Kumho Solus HS51 summer tires test

OFFICIAL INFORMATION

With the Solus HS51, Korean manufacturer Kumho aims to take a place in the premium segment of the tire industry. The asymmetric tread design is designed to improve steering precision in aggressive driving situations. The safety of passing high-speed corners will provide a whole range of engineering solutions, some of which are hidden from view inside the tire. The new reinforced tire construction guarantees the stability of the tread contact patch with the road surface even when performing extreme manoeuvres. The latest generation rubber compound with a high content of silicon dioxide (silica) guarantees the most reliable grip on wet pavement. Powerful blocks on the outer side of the tire firmly hold the car in a high-speed arc. Kumho HS51's four annular bleed channels quickly and effectively remove water from the contact patch, preventing early loss of traction due to water wedges.

Thanks to additional jumpers between the segments of the shoulder outer blocks in the Kumho Solus HS51 tread, it was possible to improve the maneuverability of the car during braking (for example, bypassing an unexpected obstacle on the road). Two, almost integral, outer annular tread segments made it possible to increase the dynamic qualities of the car during powerful acceleration and sharp braking.

TEST RESULTS

The Korean tire Kumho Solus HS51 also passed the tests of the same authorities. In the ACE/GTU/ARBO tests, the Kumho tires were significantly better than the Fulda EcoControl HP - fifth place, up from eighth. But ADAC experts did not agree with them, honoring the Kumho Solus HS51 with only the seventeenth line. It is noteworthy that in comparison with the Fulda EcoControl HP, the key advantages and disadvantages turned out to be diametrically opposed. Kumho Solus HS51 was praised for its behavior on wet pavement, scolded for its short life cycle.

Tested: ADAC, ACE/GTU/ARBO.

Kumho Ecowing S - summer tires test

OFFICIAL INFORMATION

Kumho Ecowing S tires are manufactured in Kumho factories using electronic quality control of finished products. Kumho Ecowing S is a tire with a symmetrical tread pattern. It is designed for use on small and medium class cars. The central zone of the tread of the Kumho Ecowing es01 kh27 tire is made in the form of two longitudinal ribs, equipped with narrow grooves and notches. Thanks to them smoothness, softness of the course is provided, noise formation at rolling of a wheel decreases. This central area of the tread ensures good directional stability of the vehicle when driving on highways at high speeds. Diagonal cuts help the car to more clearly enter turns at higher speeds. This tire looks like the Hankook Kinergy eco tire. The shoulder area of the tread blocks provides straightness of movement, resistance to side slip, car drift, provides maximum grip with the road surface, thanks to a slightly increased block area. The alternating size of these side blocks helps to significantly reduce the generation of noise resonance when the vehicle is in motion.

TEST RESULTS

Another model of the same Korean manufacturer Kumho - Ecowing S is positioned as a summer tire with "green" properties, and therefore they were tested by the Korean Daejeon Consumer Union and the ADAC club. "In the home" test, Kumho was considered optimal. They are relatively cheap and save quite a lot in operation. At the same time, Asian experts noticed that the European competitor Michelin Energy Saver + is safer, but still more expensive and has more rolling resistance. But in the ADAC measurements, the Kumho Ecowing S tires earned only “mediocre” ratings, earning only the penultimate place. However, the German experts considered the Kumho Ecowing S to be really economical tires. They have the lowest fuel consumption among the tested models, as well as the most modest wear. A bonus is a decent ride. The picture is overshadowed only by weak achievements on wet pavement, which is characteristic of "green" tires, and Kumho Ecowing - especially.

Tested by: ADAC, Daejeon Consumer Union.

Hankook Ventus Prime2 K115 – summer tires test

OFFICIAL INFORMATION

The manufacturer says that Hankook's Ventus Prime 2 K115 is designed for those who constantly drive. This tire belongs to the category of "premium comfort" (sounds a little strange). It is ideal for comfortable cars, both in the middle and upper price range (that's right - they even put it on the new S-class W222).

When creating the Hankook Ventus Prime 2 K115, safety was a top priority. This made it possible to reduce the braking distance on wet surfaces by 20% (compared to the result of the previous model). New rubber mixing technologies and new materials were also used, and the tread pattern was borrowed from nature and is similar to the teeth of representatives of the predatory feline family.

Hankook K115 tire design

Specially designed block edges located on the outer shoulder sections have increased traction and stability when cornering on various surfaces (wet or dry). The tread is designed using MRT (Multi-Tread Radius) technology, which guarantees a balanced pressure distribution, thus ensuring maximum contact with the road surface in any weather.

The rubber compound, consisting of silica, nanoparticles and optimized molecular chain ends, has increased braking efficiency, reduced rolling resistance and, in general, improved performance. The special design of Quiet Ride Technology blocks has reduced rolling noise.

Technical features of the tire Hankook Ventus Prime 2 K115

Optimized pressure distribution improves traction on wet road surfaces. The use of Multi-Tread Radius Technology provides better road contact, creating optimal handling and efficient braking on wet road surfaces and on sharp turns at high speed.

Improved handling and increased wear resistance. The use of SCCT technology made it possible to achieve a more even distribution of the load, due to this, wear has decreased.

The predatory design and asymmetric tread pattern have created a combination of increased hydroplaning resistance with the best handling and excellent feedback.

The "hybrid" tread compound improves wet grip and reduces fuel consumption.

TEST RESULTS

Hankook Ventus Prime2 K115 is by far the most advanced Korean tire capable of competing on equal terms with the flagship representatives of the first echelon of eminent tire companies. It is significant that this rubber is approved for the original configuration of the Mercedes S-class. In the Auto Express test, Hankook Ventus Prime2 K115 has an honorable fourth place, but in the ADAC table it is only eighth (albeit out of 19 possible). The first instance praised this tire for everything except increased appetite. Among the minuses noticed by the ADAC club, this item is also present, but it is also diluted with not the most confident behavior on a wet road.

Tested: ADAC, Auto Express.

Michelin Primacy 3 summer tires test

OFFICIAL INFORMATION

The MICHELIN Primacy 3 tire is designed for a wide range of medium and high class cars. In comparison with the previous model, the novelty, according to the manufacturer, provides a higher level of safety, improved in three directions at once: on dry roads, on wet roads and when cornering. The improvements achieved in three aspects of safety at once are reflected in the name of the tire - Primacy 3. In addition to the unique grip properties, the tire is distinguished by the traditionally high Michelin performance in two more areas: mileage and fuel efficiency.

TEST RESULTS

The Michelin Primacy 3 took the lead in the ADAC club test, beating out eighteen other tires, but only finished seventh out of ten in the British AutoExpress rankings. How to explain such a scatter is a mystery. Anyway, the German experts did not reveal any flaws in the Michelin Primacy 3, praising their excellent balance, excellent results on dry pavement and friendly attitude towards the environment and the owner's wallet, despite the fact that they do not carry the status of "green" tires. It is all the more surprising that Auto Express journalists began to justify the relatively low position primarily by the lower efficiency of the tire. french brand. They noted that these Michelin tires consumes 2% more fuel than the best Dunlop Sport BluResponse. At the same time, the British did not have any other claims to the Michelin Primacy 3. Summing up their comment, they said: "Michelins are also very quiet, and in general we can say that these are worthy tires, which gradually lost to competitors in almost all disciplines, which is why they took only seventh place."

Tested: ADAC, Auto Express.

Nokian Line - summer tires, test

OFFICIAL INFORMATION

The Nokian Line tire series is designed to provide the driver with the greatest comfort and safety on the road. The tire easily adapts to sudden changes in weather conditions and maintains excellent grip on wet roads. To obtain the most complete amount of data, the Nokian developers used fast cameras, on which they were able to see the interaction of the tire and the roadway in all details. Cross-shaped lamellas and wavy grooves contribute to good performance. New lamellas act in 2 directions. Those closer to the outer and stiffer edge maintain control stability. The sipes located closer to the inner shoulder area lie on top of each other, providing a smooth change of blocks to reduce operating noise and rolling resistance. The wavy structure of the grooves allows water to flow freely into the main drainage grooves.

TEST RESULTS

We are all used to what is in the tests winter tires tires under the banner of Nokian are in the lead. Last resort - on a pedestal. And summer tires of the Finnish brand have always performed well. But this year, things turned out differently. True, another model, Nokian Line, also participated in the tests. In Russia, it is not officially represented, but it is present in the European sales line. Having driven on French soil (ACE/GTU/ARBO test) and German soil (ADAC test), Nokian Line tires brought mediocre results: 6th place in ACE/GTU/ARBO (very middle) and twelfth in ADAC results with a “satisfactory” comment. On dry pavement, they performed well, on dry - worse. In addition, this tire showed increased wear. At the same time, in a smaller size - 185/60 R14, the ADAC test brought Nokian Line "bronze", thanks to its balance and durability, as well as on wet pavement.

Tested: ADAC, ACE/GTU/ARBO.

In the pan-European ACE/GTU/ARBO measurements, this tire opened the group of non-pedestal places, finishing fourth. In Auto Express, achieving a tire one line higher is third place. In ADAC, the tire achieved the fifth line. The Germans called the Pirelli a very balanced tyre, with excellent wet performance, good dry handling and relative durability. The only downside was the loud noise.

Tested: ADAC, AutoExpress, ACE/GTU/ARBO.

Toyo Proxes T1 Sport – summer tires test

OFFICIAL INFORMATION

The manufacturer says that summer toyo tires Proxes T1 Sport are ideal for sports sedans and coupes. Providing extremely precise control of the machine on both wet and dry surfaces, the tires have excellent stability, especially at high speed.

Durable grooved inner rib improves braking performance and reduces uneven tire wear. The center rib gives the car stability at high speed and improves its response. The powerful shoulder block of the tire increases the contact patch with the road and improves handling and steering response. Wide central grooves and water channels reduce the risk of hydroplaning.

The very rigid top layer of the breaker gives the wheel stability at high speed. Solid sidewall provides good handling on the track. The rigid viscose layer gives stability in turns at high speed, and the inflexible bead filler provides a quick response to the steering wheel when driving straight ahead.

The two-component tread compound (not available in all sizes) meets the different needs of the inside and outside of the tire for superior handling and braking performance. Inner tread compound improves handling. The outer side compound is designed to improve cornering stability (allowing you to enter corners at higher speeds).

Depending on the width of the tire, two different profiles have been developed. A tire with a width of 285 mm or more has a wide center rib for improved cornering control and traction.

TEST RESULTS

Tires Toyo Proxes T1 Sport were rated only by the British - from evo magazine and Auto Express. In both editions, this tire was not a pleasant discovery. Average. They have high rolling resistance. Tires failed to stand out in any discipline. Wet handling scores were slightly better than dry handling, but the latter was, curiously, better.

Tested: Auto Express, evo

Vredestein Sportrac 5 - summer tires test

OFFICIAL INFORMATION

The new Vredestein summer tires are an updated version of the Sportrac 3 tires that performed well in testing. The company deliberately “missed” the number 4 in the name of the novelty in order to avoid possible confusion with the name of the Vredestein all-season tires. The Sportrac 5 is an absolutely silent and extremely comfortable summer tire with excellent stability and a sporty profile that guarantees excellent handling both in dry and dry conditions. on wet road surfaces. The Sportrac 5 size range allows these tires to be fitted to more prestigious mid-range vehicles.

Tires of the dimension we have chosen are still the most in demand on the Russian market (although there has been a tendency to switch to 17- and even 18-inch wheels). Pretty high, 55 percent profile of 16-inch wheels allows you to balance between good handling and tolerable ride on our far from the best roads.

This size has the widest range of models and brands. Among the highlights of our test is the Pirelli Cinturato P7 in Blue, which has just gone on sale. And for the first time we are trying out the Bridgestone Ecopia EP200 and Toyo Proxes CF2 models.

A couple of test cars - Golfs with non-switchable stabilization system. Tires were tested at the end of last summer in order to have time to capture all the novelties of the upcoming 2015 season. The weather during the tests did not bake with heat: the thermometer showed 20-25 degrees Celsius.

Higher speed - less holes

There is no need to rely on tires with an increased load index (tires with an index of 90 can carry 600 kg, with an index of 91 - 615 kg, 92 - 630, 93 - 650, 94 - 670 kg), even when it is supplemented with the letters XL or the words Extra load.

SIX OF THE BEST

A serious struggle unfolded among the leaders. The milestone of 900 points, which we consider an indicator of excellent tires, was overcome by six models at once. Rare case. It is noteworthy that five of them boast the highest efficiency. The difference between the braking distances is measured in decimeters, and the speed at the rearrangement is measured in tenths of a kilometer per hour.

With 944 points, the updated model rose above all Pirelli Cinturato P7 Blue, which on wet surfaces showed the best braking properties and the highest speed on the rearrangement. In addition, it provides clear handling and excellent directional stability.

Cinturato also had the best price-quality ratio among the top six - 3.81. Indeed, for an eminent tire, the price of 3600 rubles is quite modest.

Yielding to the leader by 18 points, the second position is taken by the model Nokian Hakka Blue. This tire matched the Pirelli speed in the wet and set the record in the dry. Slightly saved in braking on dry pavement. Those who choose this tire will certainly appreciate its positive impact on the handling and road holding of the car. Price - 3650 rubles apiece.

Tire took third place Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance(conceded to Hakka only one point).

Tire Michelin Primacy 3 scored 926 points and took a high fourth place.

It was this model that broke through to the initial equipment of the Mercedes S‑class, and quite deservedly - 921 points in our test.

The Ventus Prime 2 delivers high traction and keeps you on course. Reaching the podium was prevented by not the best fuel efficiency indicators and small comments from experts regarding ride comfort and handling in extreme conditions. Hankook is offered for 3400 rubles.

Tire is in sixth position with 913 points Continental ContiPremiumContact fifth generation. Leading braking properties on dry roads and high fuel efficiency. Other indicators are from good to excellent, but not record-breaking. Sold for 4000 rubles. The Germans, like Michelin, keep the mark.

LET'S BE Humble

In seventh place - Nordman SX domestic production with 890 points.

In ninth place with 857 points - Bridgestone Ecopia EP200.

Tenth place and 849 points - result Cordiant Sport 3. Braking on wet pavement is above average, on dry pavement - second from the end.

The price does not seem to be the highest - 3100 rubles, but there are better and cheaper tires.

in the eleventh position Kama Euro 129. She has only 806 points in her piggy bank. Not enough for a modern tire. All measurement results, with the exception of the average fuel consumption, are the worst. In braking on dry pavement, it loses almost six meters to the leader, on wet pavement - four and a half. Under no circumstances would I sharply maneuver on these tires: the car can break into a slip, and even ESP will not help. I am silent about the ride comfort, here it does not smell like that. The most pleasant indicator is the price, the lowest in the test: 2600 rubles.

Your boyfriend

The Volkswagen Golf is the most massive test car of all tire companies, and for good reason.

Modern tires Cooper Discoverer A/T3 for cars off-road have excellent characteristics for driving both on roads and off-road. The tread pattern uses a combination of properties that provide reliable tire performance on any surface, excellent grip in all seasons, excellent stability, confident handling and even tread wear. Broken center rib improves grip on loose surfaces. Double-walled tread elements reduce the chance of stone penetration and increase resistance to cuts and chips. The zigzag projections of the transverse grooves in the intermediate zone also reduce the chance of stones getting into the tread. The tread elements in the central and intermediate zones have a unique paired design, which provides excellent stability and confident handling.

2.Cooper Discoverer STT

The Discoverer STT Off-Road Tire is made up of two radial polyester plies and one angled polyester ply and features a three-ply Armor-Tek3 carcass construction for high protection against tearing and impact damage. Efficient lateral lugs are an aggressive new design that lowers the tread far down the sidewall of the tire, improving traction in soft ground and providing additional "cut-in" when driving in mountainous terrain. An integrated stone deflector rib extends from the center to the side lugs, preventing stones from being trapped between the tread lugs. At the bottom of the sidewall is a disc bead protector that helps protect the wheel and tire from damage in off-road conditions.

3.Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac

These all-round tires are designed for off-road enthusiasts, and their main characteristics, in addition to confident movement on rough terrain, are comfort, reliability and durability. Designed for utilitarian use as a workhorse, the Wrangler DuraTrac tire delivers off-road performance with acoustic comfort and on-road handling. TractiveGroove micro lugs provide improved traction and flotation in both deep mud and snow. At the same time, the Wrangler DuraTrac has a special rubber compound that not only improves the resistance of the tread blocks to chips and tears, but guarantees the tire's ability to work all year round, confirmed by the presence of the Snowflake marking (Mountain Snowflake Symbol).

4.Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar

The new tires for 2015 offer impressive off-road capability and optimum handling and comfort on paved roads. Reinforced tire sidewalls using DuPont(TM) Kevlar, which under equal conditions is five times stronger than steel, massive tread blocks and an aggressive sawtooth sidewall design combined to improve the tire's level of puncture protection and aggressive traction on difficult surfaces. In turn, the unique asymmetric tread pattern and a special rubber compound with silica guarantee a confident and safe behavior of the car on the road.

5.Michelin Latitude Sport 3

This novelty with a sporty character is designed for a wide range of off-road vehicles. Its recognition by leading automakers is due to the improvement of several important characteristics at once: a reduction in wet braking distance of 2.7 m compared to the previous generation Michelin Latitude Sport tire, as well as a significant increase in tire mileage, durability and handling. 10% wider wicking channels provide effective moisture evacuation for confident wet traction. The use of a double carcass provides additional durability when driving on poor roads. The innovative tread compound, which combines the latest generation of elastomers and silica, guarantees a high level of wear resistance without sacrificing traction or fuel efficiency.

6.Michelin Primacy 3

The novelty of the French tire brand is designed for passenger cars of medium and business class, as well as for small crossovers. It provides an excellent level of safety and the best level of grip in all circumstances, whether the road is dry or wet, straight or winding. In addition, the tire demonstrates high mileage and is fuel efficient. The balanced combination of the main qualities of modern tires in the Primecy 3 model, characteristic of all Michelin products, has been achieved through the introduction of many technological innovations.
