Volkswagen Passat b7 running characteristics. All owner reviews about Volkswagen Passat B7

25.06.2017

Volkswagen Passat) is the seventh generation of the legendary Volkswagen sedan. This car has an impressive history of over 40 years. More recently, the eighth generation of this model debuted on the market, thanks to which the previous generation has significantly fallen in price and has become accessible to a larger circle of motorists. The Passat is a car that is chosen with the mind, not the heart, but here are the problems that the future owners of the Volkswagen Passat B7 with mileage will have to face, now let's try to find out.

A bit of history:

The Volkswagen Passat first appeared on the market in 1973 and, in fact, it was an Audi 80 (in 1964, the rights to the Audi brand were bought by Volkswagen). Initially, the car was produced in three versions - station wagon, three- and five-door hatchback. In 1980, the second generation of the model appeared on the market, which, in fact, was an upgraded version of the first generation. And, here, the third generation was built on a completely new platform with a transverse engine and was produced only in the station wagon. Despite the new designation, the fourth generation of the model was a product of a deep restyling of its predecessor - with the same power body frame, roof and glazing, but with different exterior body panels and a modified interior design. Starting with this generation, a sedan version became available to customers.

Production of the fifth generation started in 1996. The novelty was radically different from its predecessors, as it was developed using the platform and units of the Audi A4. The sixth generation of the car appeared in showrooms in 2005. Unlike the previous version, this generation was designed on the . In 2008, on the basis of this model, the Passat SS coupe sedan was created. The new Volkswagen Passat B7, introduced in 2010, is essentially a deep restyling of the model with the B6 index. Outwardly, the novelty has changed almost completely, but the interior has remained the same, the only thing inside that distinguishes the seventh generation from the sixth is more expensive finishing materials. The car is assembled at factories in Germany (Emden) and Russia (Kaluga). The production of this generation lasted until 2015, in the same year the next generation of the model appeared on the market.

Weaknesses and shortcomings of the Volkswagen Passat B7 with mileage

Like most modern cars, the bodywork of the Volkswagen Passat B7 is not of the best quality, as a result of scratches and chips on cars older than three years old is a common occurrence. As for the corrosion resistance of the body, in general there are no complaints about it, but a couple of places on the body still require special attention - the front of the hood, the edges of the doors and the trunk lid (near the license plate). In most cases, rust spots (bugs) appear in these places - it is rare that a car in its “native” paint has rusty spots the size of a coin. An exception may be cars restored after an accident.

Engines

For buyers of the Volkswagen Passat B7, a huge selection of power units is available: gasoline - atmospheric V6 with a volume of 3.6 (300 hp), turbocharged (TSI) with direct injection 1.4 (122-150 hp), 1.8 (160 hp). ), 2.0 (210 hp); diesel TDI with common rail injection system - 1.6 (105 hp) and 2.0 (140, 170 and 177 hp).

Petrol

The most popular among motorists are turbocharged power units with a volume of 1.8 and 2.0. Both engines have good dynamics and moderate fuel consumption, among the shortcomings can be noted increased oil consumption, for a car with a mileage of more than 100,000 km, it can reach 2-2.5 liters per 10,000 km of run. Both engines are equipped with a timing chain drive, which, on specimens manufactured before 2011, in most cases requires replacement after 60,000 km. Later, the manufacturer fixed the problem by releasing better parts (chain, tensioners), which made it possible to increase the drive service lines to 200,000 km. For the replacement of the timing and pump in the service, you will have to pay about 300 USD.

According to the regulations, spark plugs must be changed every 80-100 thousand km, however, many experts recommend doing this much earlier (every 50-60 thousand km). The fact is that due to insufficiently high-quality fuel, the spark plug electrode quickly becomes dirty, and this can lead to a power surge, due to which the ignition coils can fail prematurely. Replacing one coil will cost about $50. Thanks to the electronics, which recognizes in which cylinder the incorrect combustion occurs and turns off the corresponding fuel injector, more serious troubles (heat load and catalytic converter destruction) can be avoided. Also, common disadvantages include: contamination of the crankcase ventilation system, leakage of gaskets and seals, coking of valves, as a result of which valve guides and their seals fail prematurely.

The 1.4 engine, unlike more powerful power units, does not have serious problems with increased oil consumption, but after 30,000 km of run it can surprise in the form of a failed pump with an electromagnetic clutch. If the problem is not corrected in time, this can lead to burnout of the pistons. Replacing the pump with a 150 hp version. will cost 500 USD, for a weaker version, the same part costs 50-100 USD. When operating a car with a 1.4 engine, you need to constantly monitor the condition of the timing chain, since it can present an unpleasant surprise on used cars (stretching and skew of the chain). Timing service lines with proper operation do not exceed 150,000 km.

Also, the disadvantages of this motor include poor tightness of the intake system, rapid contamination and leaks of the radiators of the cooling system. The engine resource in most cases is 150-200 thousand km, after which it is necessary to change the piston group, this fact pushes unscrupulous sellers to twist the real mileage. If you fill the car with 92-m gasoline, errors in the operation of the fuel equipment or failure of the turbine adjustment servo drive are possible. Due to the heavy weight of the machine during active operation, the turbine serves 40-60 thousand km.

The 3.6 atmospheric engine turns this car into a rocket, but you have to pay for such dynamics with indecently high fuel consumption of up to 17 liters per 100 km. As for reliability, here I would like to note the small resource of the timing chain, the fact that the engine will have to be removed to replace the chain adds trouble. Also, servicemen note a tendency to coking of valves and piston groups. It is worth noting the complexity of maintenance and repair, the high cost of operation and a considerable transport tax.

Diesel Volkswagen Passat B7

Diesel engines are generally reliable, but, as you know, buying cars with a diesel engine in the CIS is always a lottery, since most of them were brought to us from Europe with high mileage. Among the shortcomings of diesel power units, one can note the exactingness of the fuel system on fuel quality, and since there are problems with this in the CIS, owners often face the need to change injectors (once every 80-120 thousand km), injection pump and EGR valve. Unlike gasoline engines, diesel engines are equipped with a timing belt drive. Its declared resource is about 180,000 km, but many owners recommend changing it every 100-130 thousand km. On cars that are mainly operated in the city, closer to 100,000 km, problems with the PDF filter appear. The malfunction is manifested by a deterioration in dynamics and the appearance of an error on the instrument panel. If you do not pay attention to the problem, over time, the engine will go into emergency operation. After 200,000 km, the dual-mass flywheel needs to be replaced.

Transmission

The Volkswagen Passat B7 was equipped with three types of gearboxes - a six-speed manual and automatic transmission, as well as a DSG robotic transmission. The mechanics are the least of all troubles, in it even the clutch kit, with careful operation, lasts up to 200,000 km. There are no particular complaints about the automatic transmission, however, due to the complex design of the box, there is a risk that they will face costly repairs. Most often, troubles occur on cars whose owners did not bother with timely maintenance (oil and filter changes). On a run of 100-120 thousand km, twitching may appear due to contamination of the valve body. With proper maintenance, the transmission is able to please with a mileage of 300,000 km.

It is better to refuse to buy a used Volkswagen Passat B7 with a DSG box, since its resource during operation in a metropolis is 80-130 thousand km, after which an expensive repair or replacement of the transmission is required (from 1000 USD). There were cases of failure of the box and at 30,000 km (clutch replacement was required). Frequent oil changes (every 30-35 thousand km) can extend the service lines.

Reliability of running Volkswagen Passat B7

The Volkswagen Passat B7 uses an independent suspension: front - MacPherson strut, rear - multi-link. The chassis is generally reliable, but with the advent of cold weather, it is filled with various sounds when crossing tram tracks or driving on uneven roads. The cause of extraneous sounds is mainly the stabilizer struts and bushings (their resource rarely exceeds 10,000 km). Also, it does not please the service lines of silent blocks 40-60 thousand km. With an aggressive driving style, after 50,000 km, wheel bearings can hum, and large-diameter discs reduce the chances of survival of this unit. The front strut supports live a little longer up to 70,000 km, and shock absorbers rarely nurse more than 100,000 km. The rest of the suspension elements serve 100-150 thousand km.

As for the reliability of the steering, the electric power steering deserves special attention here. Most often, problems with the amplifier occur due to oxidation of the power contacts. Also, problems can arise in the mechanical part of the unit. The rail, as a rule, does not cause trouble for 120-150 thousand km. The braking system is reliable and does not cause much trouble for a long time.

Salon

The quality of finishing materials, like most cars of this class, is at a high level, despite this, on cars with a mileage of more than 100,000 km, the interior is not without signs of wear. Also, it is worth noting that over the years, crickets settle in the cabin. Most often, extraneous sounds come from the instrument panel, center console, rear shelf and brake light cover. As for the electrics, in general it is reliable, no problems that are often repeated have been identified. The car is equipped with a large number of different electronic systems, for which the control units are responsible - it is they who can eventually begin to make the “head”. In most cases, to fix a particular problem, it is enough to reflash the corresponding unit, but this requires time and money, so be sure to check the electronics for errors before buying a used car.

Outcome:

In general, a used Volkswagen Passat B7 is a good car for quite adequate money (10-14 thousand USD). When choosing a car of this model, it is better to focus on copies released after 2012, there are two reasons for this: the first is that in 2011 the manufacturer eliminated many shortcomings; the second - such instances will have a relatively low mileage.

If you are the owner of this car model, please describe the problems that you had to face during the operation of the car. Perhaps it is your review that will help readers of our site when choosing a car.

Sincerely, editorial Autoavenue

At the International Paris Motor Show 2010, which opened for journalists on September 30, Volkswagen introduced the new 7th generation Volkswagen Passat sedan and station wagon.

Externally, the new Volkswagen Passat B7 has not changed much: the front end now resembles a smaller copy of the flagship model, the overall length of the sedan has grown by 2 mm (up to 4,769), and the station wagon has grown by 4 mm (up to 4,771). At the same time, the width and height of the novelty remained the same as that of the previous generation car (1,820 and 1,470 millimeters, respectively).

The interior of the Volkswagen Passat B7 has new front seats and a modified center console with a clock on it, as well as a different instrument cluster, a new steering wheel and improved trim.

Under the hood for the new Passat B7, a wide range of power units of ten pieces is offered in the power range from 105 to 300 hp. and volume from 1.4 to 3.2 liters. On average, all engines are about 18 percent more fuel efficient thanks to the start/stop system and brake energy recovery.

For example, the most economical 1.6-liter turbodiesel (105 hp and 250 Nm) consumes only 4.2 liters of diesel fuel per hundred, and CO2 emissions into the atmosphere are some 109 grams per kilometer.

As before, the new Volkswagen Passat B7 is offered to customers in three trim levels: Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. Among the options, a system was added that can detect driver fatigue while driving and issue an audio and text warning about it, adaptive cruise control, adaptive front optics, which first appeared on the new one, which does not dazzle drivers of oncoming cars.

Not without a tracking system for "dead" zones, multimedia navigation with the ability to recognize traffic signs and a cunning non-contact trunk opening system. With the car key in his pocket, the owner just needs to move his foot under the rear bumper without touching it, after which the trunk will automatically open.

Also, the Volkswagen Passat B7 was equipped with an electronic imitation of a differential lock, as on, working in tandem with a stabilization system and braking a slipping wheel, thereby helping the car to behave more reliably in corners.

Russian sales of the new VW Passat began in March 2011. In 2015, the cost of the basic version of the sedan in the Trendline configuration, equipped with a 1.4-liter 122-horsepower turbo engine and six-speed mechanics, started from 1,118,000 rubles.

The Volkswagen Passat B7 is equipped with six airbags, ESP, air conditioning, an immobilizer, an MP3 audio system with four speakers, an on-board computer, and full power accessories.

For a sedan in the Comfortline configuration with a more powerful 152-horsepower 1.8-liter TSI gasoline engine and mechanics at the time of sale, they asked from 1,285,000 rubles, and the surcharge for the version with a 7-band DSG robotic gearbox was 89,000 rubles.

Volkswagen Passat B7 has practically got rid of the reputation of being unreliable, which was deserved by the predecessor of the sixth generation. A number of technical innovations in the V6 caused outrage not only among the owners, but even among representatives of the official service. Today, the Passat B6 is part of a group of "elite" cars that help service providers and auto parts dealers make money.

With the advent of the Volkswagen Passat B7, some of the "puzzles" disappeared. It was the result of deep work on the bugs. For example, the parking brake. One of the technical innovations of the past B6 is a small parking brake button instead of the traditional lever between the seats. Already one of her place, to the left of the steering wheel, was not very successful. But this is a trifle against the background of regular malfunctions of the parking brake mechanism. The problem was both in the control program and in the design of the rear brake mechanism. In V7, the location of the button has changed. Now it is at hand - to the left of the gear selector. In addition, the control unit for the entire system was replaced, as well as the rear caliper mechanism itself.

Engines

From the very beginning, the 122-horsepower 1.4 TSI acted as the base unit. This is a simplified version that only uses turbocharging. Although this modification is considered more reliable than the option with a turbine and a mechanical compressor, it is not worthy of recommendations. This variation does not have the proper power reserve.

The stronger, turbocharged, mechanically supercharged Roots-type variant is much livelier, but also not worth the effort. And the point is not at all in the compressor, but in a pump with an electromagnetic clutch worth about 30,000 rubles. In practice, it often starts to flow, or loses performance. For comparison, a water cooling pump for a 122-horsepower version of the engine costs 10 times cheaper - only about 3,000 rubles.

Of particular concern are timing chain problems that are found en masse in small Volkswagen models with exactly the same engine (for example, in the Golf). In Passat with 1.4 TSI, there are cases of chain stretching and even jumping several links, but nothing is known about serious consequences.

As a rule, buyers' choice is focused on more powerful petrol versions of the Passat - 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TSI. Both units are representatives of the third generation of engines of the EA888 series. In technical terms, these are quite complex motors.

Unfortunately, they are not without drawbacks. Earlier copies are prone to high oil consumption - up to 1 liter per 1000 km. The reason is the design of the rings. The disease manifested itself after 50-100 thousand km. Since February 2012, the manufacturer began to install thicker rings, which required changes in the piston design. It was possible to almost completely get rid of the disease, although in some fresh copies the problem was still observed. To eliminate the oil burner, you will need from 50 to 150 thousand rubles - to replace the piston.

The EA888 timing chain drive often has a shorter service life than a belt drive. Until 2011, the replacement of the timing drive was sometimes required already at 60,000 km. In 2013, the B7 began to be equipped with a more reliable modified timing drive. A complete timing kit with a pump will cost about 17,000 rubles. The condition of the timing chain and the output of the tensioner rod can be checked through a special window. In the case of the 1.4 TSI, this can only be done by removing the timing cover.

For 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TSI engines, the manufacturer prescribes the replacement of spark plugs at least once every 100,000 km. It is better to reduce the interval to 50-60 thousand km. Due to contamination of the electrode, the likelihood of voltage surges increases. This leads to the failure of the ignition coil, which is located directly on the candle. The cost of one coil is about 2,000 rubles. Fortunately, the electronics recognizes which cylinder has the wrong combustion, and immediately turns off the corresponding nozzle. This prevents the destruction of the catalyst due to increased thermal load.

Many owners note the unstable operation of 1.8 TSI at idle. The disease is most often observed after 50,000 km of run. No "magic pill" found. Someone helps change the place of refueling, and someone - the replacement of injectors or ignition coils.

After 50-100 thousand km, the fuel pump control unit can also fail (from 2,000 rubles): the engine stalls and does not start.

In the arsenal of the model, they retained the old 6-cylinder 3.6 FSI, which develops 300 hp. With such an engine, the Volkswagen Passat turns into a “rocket”, which can only be kept on the road with the help of the mandatory 4Motion all-wheel drive system. However, you have to pay for the excellent dynamics with high maintenance costs and fuel consumption - in the region of 12-13 liters per 100 km.

VW Passat B7 was equipped with diesel engines. The smaller one had a volume of 1.6 liters, and the larger one - 2.0 liters. The latter existed in three versions. The CFFB variant offered 140 hp and the CFGB 170 hp. Later came the 177 hp CFGC. All of them differed in the injection system. The younger one used Siemens injectors, and the 2-liter used Bosch. The resource of piezoelectric injectors directly depends on the quality of the fuel. The cost of a Bosch injector is about 25,000 rubles. As for the 140-horsepower 2.0 TDI, the manufacturer has finally got rid of the annoying "kick" when boost pressure increases.

The 1.6 TDI and 2.0 TDI have the same exhaust gas recirculation system EGR (sometimes the German abbreviation AGR is used). It consists of a radiator and a pair of valves. The one that allows exhaust gases to enter the cooler is pneumatically controlled. The second, the main one, which sends exhaust gases to the intake, has an electric drive. Problems are only with the electric drive of the main damper. It wedges, which leads to failure of the stepper electric motor for controlling the damper. The cost of an exhaust gas recirculation solenoid valve is from 2000 rubles.

Both diesel engines comply with Euro 5 emission standards, which means they cannot do without a particulate filter. It is integral with the catalytic converter. Ultimately, the diesel engines of the Volkswagen Passat B7 bring fewer problems than in the B6.

Unlike gasoline counterparts with a timing chain drive, diesels use a toothed belt. Despite the claimed timing belt resource of 180,000 km, it should be changed at a range of 90-120 thousand km. For a complete set with a pomp, you will have to pay at least 15,000 rubles.

Gearboxes

The Passat B7 was equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and a robotic DSG: 7 and 6-speed. DSG 6 was paired only with 2.0 TSI and 2.0 TDI engines. There are practically no claims to it.

The DSG7 was not without surprises. Complaints appeared after 40-100 thousand km. Most often, the clutch was changed: there were vibrations and jerks. If you pull with the replacement of the clutch, then the mechatronics could also fail (from 60,000 rubles). The replacement was carried out under the warranty, which was 5 years or 150,000 km.

The manufacturer upgraded the clutch at the end of 2013 and announced that as of January 1, 2014, the clutch warranty is only 2 years. In practice, after installing the upgraded clutch, there were really fewer calls to the service. For reference, the cost of a new clutch kit is about 33,000 rubles, and replacement work is 10-15 thousand rubles.

Chassis

During the transition from generation B6 to B7, the suspension has also undergone a certain modernization. It has become more durable. If earlier lower arms made of aluminum were used on the front axle, then in the new Volkswagen Passat they began to be made of steel. But more importantly, the design now provides for the replacement of silent blocks and a ball joint separately from the lever. The cost of the lever assembly is from 10,000 rubles. A repair kit of a ball joint, a bushing and a bracket with a silent block will cost about 3,000 rubles.

A weak point in the front suspension is the rear silent block of the lower arm (after 50-100 thousand km). When it wears out, a knock or creak appears. It changes in assembly with a bracket - from 1,000 rubles.

In some cases, the bushings of the front anti-roll bar may also knock. The manufacturer provides for replacement only complete with a stabilizer - from 10,000 rubles. Fortunately, bushings can be picked up from cars of other brands (in particular, from Opel Astra H) and replaced after a series of simple manipulations.

The rear axle uses a multi-link suspension, which has also undergone some changes. In particular, the upper transverse arm was modified. Through his fault, in the B6, the axle geometry was often violated, which caused premature wear of the rear tires.

Wheel bearings (usually front ones) can hum after 100-150 thousand km. Shock absorbers serve more than 150-200 thousand km.

After 150,000 km there are problems with the steering rack. And in winter, sometimes the electromechanical power steering fails. The reason lies in the software. When contacting the official service, the malfunction, as a rule, got rid of the software update. As a last resort, I had to change the steering rack (under warranty).

Other problems and malfunctions

In winter, after visiting car washes, door locks often freeze through. In this case, the front doors stop closing (do not slam) until the car warms up. When you try to open the rear doors, the lock cable may come off.

Conclusion

The reliability of the Volkswagen Passat B7, compared to its predecessor, has grown significantly. You will appreciate the high level of comfort and excellent driving performance, finishing materials, perfect ergonomics and powerful engines. Only the technically complex and capricious 1.4 TSI with dual supercharging, the quality of some plastics in the cabin, high prices for used copies and dishonest sellers twisting the mileage are alarming.

It's time to change cars, because. on Octavia http://avtomarket.ru/opinions/Skoda/Octavia/33668/ mileage exceeded 100 t.km. I follow the car very carefully, I just wanted to update. The choice was between Passat B7 and Audi A4. Leaned towards the Passat. Previously, I owned a Passat B6 from 2008 to 2011, I bought it new and, in principle, I was satisfied with the car.

So, Passat B7 1.8 DSG Highline 12g.v. mileage 45 t.km - good equipment (leather interior + alcantara, aluminum inserts + xenon + LED rear lights, wheels 17 "(Assembly Germany)).

Looking ahead, I will say that I sold the car after a month of ownership. Well, everything is in order.

Strengths:

  • Appearance
  • lighting technology
  • Salon - beautiful and very comfortable seats - alcantara + leather
  • Big trunk

Weak sides:

  • Disgusting soundproofing
  • Women's suspension
  • DSG chatter

Part 2

Greetings local readers and writer!

In memory of a reliable friend and to help buyers of B7 trade winds, I want to tell you about the car with which we lived together for 3.5 years and 126,000 km.

I'll start with reasons for replacement. Despite the high mileage, I was not going to change the car for at least another year, but the frantic currency fluctuations and ownerless money made their adjustments. It was decided to replace the trade wind with a new car, because. cars at the old ruble prices still remained, but by 2016 their cost would have increased by 1.5-2 times. As a result, I bought an A4 Quattro with a 2-liter engine, it felt like downshifting in some positions, for a full replacement it was necessary to take the A6, but the Tiguan, for example, was not taken seriously at all. So the trade wind is a very worthy car, despite the “budget package” which included:

Strengths:

reliability,

low cost of ownership.

Weak sides:

Falling prices on the secondary.

Review of Volkswagen Passat 2.0 TDI (140 HP / 2.0 L. / 6MKPP) (Volkswagen Passat) 2013

Many who followed the cars that I owned before the Volkswagen Passat know that every year I “tally” the results of the car’s operation for this period. November 27, 2014 It's been exactly one year since United Airlines left the dealership, so it's time to post your opinion on this car. As usual, I will try to make the review as unbiased and objective as possible. By tradition, let's start the "debriefing" with the shortcomings. As you know, any car has flaws and Passat B7, of course, is no exception.

Flaws

1. Wheezing of columns at negative temperature Known problem Passat B6 / B7, which I encountered almost a month after buying a car, as soon as the first frost hit. When the temperature outside is below -10 degrees, the driver's door speaker refused to work. Naturally, after driving around the city for some time, the speaker began to wheeze at first, and then worked completely properly. This is a warranty case, but it is quite difficult to prove this to the dealer, because. after the temperature rises, the wheezing disappears. Plus, I do not really trust the officials, so I postponed the solution to this problem until the installation of acoustics from DynAudio.

Strengths:

  • Quick interior warm-up
  • Excellent soundproofing
  • Turning light in foglights
  • Quality audio training
  • Clearance
  • Heated windshield
  • Huge trunk
  • Reliability
  • Prestige
  • Tuning options
  • Controllability
  • Engine

Weak sides:

  • Wheezing of columns at a negative temperature
  • Engine vibrations in severe frosts
  • Rear windows won't roll down all the way
  • Hatchback ergonomics are still better
  • crickets
  • Not Audi

Review of Volkswagen Passat 2.0 TDI (140 HP / 2.0 L. / 6MKPP) (Volkswagen Passat) 2013 Part 2

It is always a pity to part with good things. It is especially a pity if this thing has never let you down and has always served faithfully. That's what my United Airlines was like. The liner that always took me and my passengers to the right place. He never asked for any special attention to himself. It delightfully combined reliability, beauty and excellent driving performance. Let many say that this car is for "pensioners", but I loved my Passat. Just like that: strict, restrained and confident, I will remember him.

Reason for sale

Strengths:

  • seat fabric

Review of Volkswagen Passat 1.8 TSI (Volkswagen Passat) 2014

Background.

Departure 4 years and 90,000 km. on a car skoda Octavia A5 Fl 1.8 tsi 6mt began to think about changing it to something more recent. Initially (late 2014) I considered the new Octavia a7, preferably in a station wagon body, and even better with all-wheel drive (scout). But while he was going, the dollar jumped sharply up, and with it the prices of cars. And such a coveted car began to cost no small 1.6 million rubles. I didn't have that kind of money, so this option was dropped. However, I continued to monitor the market and travel / call salons in search of some interesting offer. And now at the end of March I went to test the restyled vw jetta. However, a few days later the manager from the vw salon called me and offered me a vw passat b7 in a good configuration for a very interesting price. Went, felt, looked and decided to take. For a week I sold skoda and went with the money to the salon for a new car.

Strengths:

  • Dynamics
  • Controllability
  • Excellent suspension and steering

Weak sides:

  • Gas pedal
  • Rain sensor
  • Relatively narrow trunk opening

Review of Volkswagen Passat 1.4 TSI BlueMotion (Volkswagen Passat) 2012

1.4 TSI with DSG, basic equipment, mileage when buying 58, now 62, serviced only at the dealer (which is in Volgograd). I took it for 680, plus the owner left 900 numbers as a gift :) I'm not a fan, but let them be, don't change it).

I compare it with the b6 that I had in 2010 and the bmw 316 f30 that I drove in September-October (in the database it is like a trade wind, the class is the same, I can compare it). Before that, there was a mercedes ML (there is a review) and much more, who are interested — everything is indicated in the garage.

Due to certain circumstances, 700 thousand money was allocated for the car, the main criteria: no older than 2 years, under warranty (the seller bought an additional warranty for 3 years), automatic, d or e class, good handling, therefore only German. Well, I didn’t really have to choose, especially since there was already such a car (b6), I left only positive impressions.

Strengths:

  • Fast and smooth gear changes
  • Economical
  • Spacious
  • Big trunk
  • Solid appearance
  • Inexpensive Casco

Weak sides:

  • Hard
  • Doesn't know how to turn a little more fun than in a pensioner way
  • Noisy
  • creaky
  • Trembling and trembling when driving at idle, incl. in reverse

Review of Volkswagen Passat 1.8 TSI (Volkswagen Passat) 2012

Good day everyone!

Almost a year ago, in August '12, I bought a Volkswagen Passat 1.8 turbo with a DSG automatic transmission. Before him, I drove a Ford Focus 1.6 automatic for almost three years - the most positive impressions, given its low cost, never failed, worked like clockwork in summer and winter, took me and my family twice to Finland, and I had to travel around Russia. Yes, it's not about him, however. I will not compare the Passat with it, it is incorrect - they are in different categories.

So — Passat. When I was financially ready to buy a large sedan, I didn’t particularly experience the torment of choice, I went to test the Toyota Camry 2.5 and, accordingly, the Passat, they were both about the same price plus or minus 50 thousand. Toyota had an aura of reliability, super-liquidity in the subsequent sale, a new body that seemed interesting to me - and I went to test it first. I went to the Moscow Ring Road, drowned the sneaker - it rides well, the machine is clearly on friendly terms with the engine, it accelerates cheerfully, but this steering wheel ... ... spoiled the whole impression - empty to disgrace. Yes, and the noise isolation was unpleasantly surprised, although, probably, part of the fault is on the poor factory tires - very noisy. Then he immediately rushed to the Volkswagen salon in order to get a new impression and compare the cars freshly. I took shape, listened to the briefing, got behind the wheel, drove to the Moscow Ring Road - and began to enjoy it. From how it rulitsya, how to sit in a comfortable chair, from excellent dynamics — in sport mode, the box is generally a hurricane! I asked the manager about the survivability of the DSG, since there are a lot of whining reviews on the Internet about it, to which the answer was received that, they say, the Germans finalized it in 2012, and there were complaints about previous models. And in any case, the guarantee for it is 5 years, regardless of mileage. I didn’t think for a long time - I chose from the stock - the color is beige, the interior is black - the seats are trimmed with combined leather, aluminum inserts on the front panel - it looks good, I like it to this day. In terms of driving, the Passat is quite self-sufficient - there are enough dynamics always and everywhere, of course, taking into account the sport mode, the suspension is assembled, elastic, someone will call it harsh, but it suits me - the wheels are 17th, you have to sacrifice something for beauty, in this In this case, you pay with a somewhat tough passage of deep potholes or, conversely, convex parts of asphalt after the repair of these same potholes by hand-assed repairmen. He does not like transverse cracks under two wheels at once, but who loves them ... .. The noise is decent, but it depends very much on the rubber. For the winter, I put a non-studded Nokia Hakkapelita R — so there was such silence in the cabin — a song, I went and purred with pleasure! But as soon as the summer factory Continental was put back in the spring, it got used to acoustic discomfort for several days, it was so unpleasant. For 50,000 mileage, there is nothing to complain about - everything works, everything turns, delivers me from point A to point B quickly and with pleasure for me. Native music suits me quite well - of course, I'm not a music lover, but I listen to both radio and CDs - an excellent juicy sound on my own radio tape recorder. When buying, I installed Webaster in the cabin - from October to March I used it every day - what a cool thing for our climate - in the morning you get into a warm car and life appears in bright colors! When I bought a car, my wife asked me to install a navigation system - this is the head unit, it is installed instead of the head unit - there is navigation, music, telephone. First, the phone turned up - the microphone frankly did not work, then this very head unit went out and did not turn on anymore ... I took the poor fellow to the service, handed it over for repair, put the head unit back and did not take it off again. And honestly, her sound is an order of magnitude better than in that very head unit. Of course, they fixed it for me, so I drive it in a box in the trunk.

Strengths:

  • Excellent dynamics of the turbocharged engine
  • Nimble gearbox
  • Very spacious interior
  • Big trunk

Weak sides:

  • Harsh suspension work on poor asphalt pavement
  • Lack of cruise control

Part 2

So, the second part of the review is exactly one year later.

Of course, I did not drive as much as some, but I can already summarize my operating experience. I still like the Passat. Only the emotions that raged immediately after the purchase subsided. The appearance of the car is recognizable, strict, noble. You won’t believe it, but even though a dozen of 2 new Tradewinds have already appeared in our city, they still pay attention and turn around. It's definitely flattering. You look at other new crafts of the automotive industry: what a design!, what a style!, what a salon!, and then you approach your car and forget about others. Why am I writing about this? Yes, because this is an important thing - so that the appearance of the car does not stop liking during operation. And vice versa happens...

I do not know where to start, so I'll start with the first MOT. I arrived at it when there were only 6 thousand km on the odometer. But a year has passed and I decided not to risk it and go through it according to the rules. At TO1, they changed the oil, added coolant ~ 200 ml, changed the oil and cabin filters, eliminated the problems I described (more on them below), updated the control unit program (removed the maximum speed limit, which was at 185 km / h - now 225-230 subjectively). Paid incomplete 7 thousand rubles. It was a pity for the dough, because I could do it all myself, but I didn’t want problems with the guarantee. I have never topped up the oil. The level has always been good. The servicemen were very surprised at the complete absence of a glass washer in the tank (they said that I had a cobweb there), but I really never poured it. Rainy summer, then winter, then again rainy spring / summer - in general, I used natural precipitation. I wanted to pour it many times, and then I completely forgot about it - the rain sensor and wipers worked properly and did not require intervention.

Review of Volkswagen Passat 1.8 TSI (Volkswagen Passat) 2011

A little about choice. In fact, after Honda, I wanted a crossover that was high, all-wheel drive, a powerful engine, no less bells and whistles than in the Accord, with a budget of up to 1.4-1.5 million and not our assembly !!! Perhaps it is surprising, but I did not find a suitable candidate for myself. That is expensive - Honda Crosstour, Toyota Highlander, for example, and it is empty for this money. That is collected from us - Nissan Murano, FV Tiguan. That engines are rather weak - RAV 4, Grand Vitara. That equipment is too small - Outlander XL, even at maximum speed with a 3 liter engine, does not have elementary things. That is not in our county Of. dealer, and I'm lazy. Probably snickering, bastard. Don't consider me a racist, but I didn't consider Koreans on principle. I would take a Honda CRV, but in a year it will be updated and the toad will crush you to drive a new, but obsolete car. By the end, my Honda had already been deregistered, and it was necessary to be determined faster. As a result, the Passat won, which I am quite happy about.

Now about the FV Passat itself. I took it because I liked the quality of materials, assembly, a sufficient number of options, the price was less than I expected, and it was available. The manager assured that the assembly was German, I believed it, but immediately checked it for fault - it was really German. Before that, I did not own the Passat and did not consider it. But as soon as I sat inside, I immediately felt that the car was mine. Feelings of good quality, solidity of a certain gloss in the finish - something that I lacked in other applicants. Outwardly, the Accord is more stylish and sporty, but the Passat is more important and solid. at low speed (useful). System without key access to the interior and trunk and engine plant with a button (conveniently). Blinds on the rear doors and electric blinds on the rear window (cool). Heated rear seats (relevant). An electric handbrake (not to press a bastard with a finger) and a recoil system. Tire pressure sensors (clear). I will not list a large number of small bells and whistles, which in total give a feeling of greater sophistication and high cost. I really liked the combined finish of the seats - suede with "leather". Suede does not burn so much in the heat and does not become a stake in cold weather. And the seats themselves in the Accord, for me, are more convenient! Either Volz's seats are short, or my legs are long, but I did not immediately find a comfortable position behind the wheel. The Passat is higher than the Accord, definitely. And the clearance is greater (165mm versus 145mm) and the landing is higher. Moreover, the space above your head, with the seats raised to the maximum, is also a couple of cm larger. Where I drove with great care on the Honda, on the Passat - calmly and faster. We put the Passat for this fat +. Salon FV is narrower, a portable DVD does not fit between the seats on the armrest, and there is much more legroom for rear passengers. From here, landing in the rear seats is more convenient. By the way, the heating of the front and rear seats on the Passat is a functional thing, as the seats are heated even without the presence of a rider. In the Honda, the skin warmed up badly until someone's butt put pressure on him. The trunk in the Accord is also rather big, but in the Passat it is better equipped. There are side niches with a partition. There are 4 bag hooks.

Strengths:

  • Comfortable, dynamic, good German

Weak sides:

  • Zhor oil

Review of Volkswagen Passat 1.8 TSI (Volkswagen Passat) 2011

Volkswagen Passat 1.8 TSI MT Comfort "Iceland" + Technic package

So, why exactly Volkswagen and exactly Passat? To do this, tell the background of the purchase. Before that, I had a Nissan Primera 1.6 109 hp. MT 2006 onwards sedan kopl. elegance. Machine was basically satisfied. Drove her for 5 years. For all this time, not a single breakdown related to the quality and reliability of the car. But 2 times they drove into me, then in front, then behind, and the last time they set fire to the neighbor's Infiniti FH35 standing in the yard next to me, and I also suffered from fire. Here my patience snapped (to be guilty without guilt and get on expensive body repairs). Maybe an evil fate hung over my Nissan? Sold without regret, but the memories of the car were positive.

The question of choice became acute as soon as I was left without wheels. I forgot myself for two weeks and continued to look for the signaling key fob in my pockets. He quarreled with greedy taxi drivers and jostled in crowded minibuses. And he killed all night long, sitting at the computer and reading tons of information about cars. After sitting like this for a month and a half or two, I realized that I must definitely touch, feel, sit, press, go ... But still, thanks to the one who invented the Internet - I have not digested such a quantity of information for a long time in such a time frame. Special thanks to those who invented auto-forums - there is where to laugh and think at the same time.

Strengths:

  • Breed
  • Character
  • Drive
  • Quality

Review of Volkswagen Passat 1.4 TSI BlueMotion (Volkswagen Passat) 2011

Greetings to all. At the request of the members of the forum, I post a review about VW Passat B 7 1.4 TSI . Sorry, the mileage is small, I can’t evaluate the operating costs and reliability yet.

Well, let's start. On March 20, 2011, a Discovery 3 land rover with a trailer and a security driver drove into my golf5, the blow was not strong, but the driver's stand had to be cut out, and therefore it was decided to sell a friend and buy a replacement for him.

Has begun search for suitable options, the requirements were as follows: so that the car was no worse than the previous one, it was NOT made in Russia, there would be 6 speeds in the box, there would also be 6 airbags, well, at a price of 800-850 thousand. As a result, I came back to golf, only already in the 6th generation and in the highline configuration (it differs from the 5th in slightly modified optics, tidy and the presence of an airbag in the driver's knees). Went to order while driving, his wife was different — I want a machine! It’s worth making a digression here, about the box, I really didn’t want to buy an automatic machine, especially the VAGovsky DSZH (it works fine, but there are questions about reliability), especially since there are no traffic jams in our town, and 80% of my mileage is the Kiev highway, one of the best in the country. Also, when buying for a machine, you have to pay extra (for VAG it’s about 65-70k), well, during operation you regularly pay more fuel consumption, although the manufacturer convinces you of the opposite. In general, the wife whined, whined and whined that she would pay for the breakdowns and bear the costs associated with the breakdowns. The price of the car from 850 turned into 920!!! Not a few times for golf class something, but competitors are not asleep and are comparable. Considering that I bought the 3rd car from the same dealer, it was agreed that when buying in cash 4% discount, when buying on credit 3% (standard loan program of the largest bank in the country) + carpets as a gift. The order is made, the delivery time of the car is 3.5 months, which means that 2 out of 3 summer months I will be a pedestrian, but what to do, "c" est la vie "

Strengths:

  • Made in Germany
  • Clear and understandable in management
  • Comfortable in the cabin
  • Nice appearance
  • fuel consumption
  • Low purchase price
  • Insurance has no special requirements
  • I hope that it is as reliable as previous VAG products

Weak sides:

  • Turning radius larger than golf
  • Can't see trunk in rearview mirror
  • From the depths of the trunk, what the hell can you get without climbing up to your waist

Review of Volkswagen Passat 1.4 TSI BlueMotion (Volkswagen Passat) 2011 Part 3

Please excuse me. Instead of continuing the operating experience, I want to briefly answer the main opinions and judgments of the forumists.

The purpose of buying a car — minimizing costs — I think achieved. Approximately 20.0 thousand rubles savings on transport tax, reduced costs for current maintenance - about 30.0% compared to Camry 3.5. MOT after 15 t.km instead of 10.0 t.km.

Will the Passat be just as reliable? This can only be confirmed by time, or rather km under the wheels. I have had many different cars. From the premium class — there was no Merc. It is in youth that everything is needed - both prestige and the power of a car, as an external attribute. I don't need all this now. A car is just a means of transportation for me. And the movement should be economical and comfortable.

Strengths:

  • Good quality car

Weak sides:

  • There is none of them. Unless to complete the car - for an additional fee

Second review. Drove 1100 km in a decade. In the early days, I was unhappy that I did not give up on 1.4 TSI. Reasons: for everyday driving only for personal purposes, it is expensive to have a car of more than 800.0 thousand rubles. But I exceeded my spending limit on the purchase of a car by 15.0%. A purchase with a 1.8 engine would increase the price by another 110.0 thousand rubles. Now I have calmed down, we will not rush, I will drive slowly. For a leisurely ride, the car is completely suitable. The average consumption of gasoline is 7.3 liters. Approximately 40.0% city, the rest suburbs and outside the city.

The engine is rough at idle. The reason is direct injection. The car pulls confidently from 1500 rpm. The computer can suggest a shift to a higher gear and the speed may drop to 1200. You can still drive in 4th gear at such speeds, but the car accelerates slowly, and if it is 5th or 6th gear, you can feel how difficult it becomes for the engine. Therefore, accelerate to the desired speed in 4th gear, and then shift to 6. (This is out of town). I use the transfer switch. Consistently switching does not make sense, only time to lose and burn gasoline.

For a confident ride, especially in the city, it makes no sense to release speed below 1500-1700. The car pulls confidently on the bottoms and at medium speeds, and this can deceive the driver - you can add gas and overtake. But the car is in no hurry to accelerate. Traction does not mean that the car is capable of sharp accelerations. For sharp acceleration, “horses” are needed, and there are only 122 hp of them. Sharp overtaking is not possible. I have to unlearn my Camry 3.5 style of driving. Surprisingly, while you do not want to go fast. Slow driving - speed in the range of 90-110 km / h, short accelerations up to 140 km / h. It's outside the city. On overtaking, you have to be careful - either have a high speed in advance, or a margin of freedom in the oncoming lane. Impressions from the engine - it seems to me that in terms of its characteristics it can be compared with a 1.8 liter atmospheric.

Strengths:

  • After the Camry, the car seems like a toy

Weak sides:

  • The car has no obvious flaws, only the price is higher than that of classmates. But there is something

Review of Volkswagen Passat 1.4 TSI BlueMotion (Volkswagen Passat) 2011

I searched for reviews of the Passat with a 1.4 TSI engine with MT (122 hp), but did not find acceptable answers from the reviews of the owners. I have a Passat model 2011. Sales start in Russia on May 14, 2011. First of all, I looked in the answers as far as the 1.4 engine can move the car. I had major doubts about this. Because I have always traveled in powerful cars. There was no weak power. The last car is a 3.5L Camry. 2007 onwards For three years and 8 months, I drove 140 thousand km and sold it. Now, in retirement, it has become expensive to maintain such a car. Transport tax - more than 23,000 rubles, gasoline consumption is an average of 10.5 liters in the summer, 11-11.5 liters in the 95th in winter. The car justified itself completely and did not demand from me a single ruble of repair costs during this period. Having bought the Passat for 913.0 thousand rubles. three days getting used — manual box. I got used to it, began to apply the old tricks - to switch through the transmission. Surprisingly, the engine pulls, can easily argue with cars of 1.6 and 1.8 liters (atmospheric).
