I dashed off almost 5 thousand kilometers on the BMW M3. There are a lot of positive impressions, but there are also negative ones. The main plus of the new "emka" is, of course, how it rides. The car knocks down just fantastically, it seems that under the hood is not 430, but all 500-550 horses, it presses very hard into the seat. Also, the car has incredible body rigidity and a fairly low weight, and, as a result, the car steers perfectly, there are no rolls. I would like to note the high-quality work of the robot box and the motor in combat mode: the gears snap off with lightning speed, the box does not blunt and really feels the driver. This is the first assault rifle in my life that does not piss me off in "combat" mode. Design: angry, bright, bold, looks fantastic, turns heads. In my opinion, the best design in the class. I was very pleased with NBT in every sense: it works smartly, nice graphics, the largest screen size in the class, everything is very convenient and thoughtful. Carbon ceramic is a thing. I strongly advise everyone who is going to take M-ku. The car is stopped just phenomenally, they “get tired” much longer than conventional brakes.

Surprisingly for myself, I found a lot of minuses. I am not the type of person who will meticulously check the thickness of the adhesive under the rubber gasket somewhere in the trunk, but the flaws are very hard not to notice. Despite a fairly high-quality road surface in Europe, the noise level from the road is very high, the sound insulation in the BMW M3 is almost completely absent. Traveling at high speeds (160 km/h) is tiring, you can only speak in a raised tone. Only the lazy did not write about the sound of an in-line 6-ki. Since the legendary M5 E60 and its fantastic V10, there hasn't been a decent-sounding M-ok, but the new M3 and M4 sound like a failure. Reminds me of a lawn mower, no kidding. Another interesting observation: of the three engine modes Efficient, Sport and Sport Plus, Sport seemed to be the most interesting in terms of sound. Many people wrote about the jerkiness and sharpness of the M-robot, I was aware of it before buying, it was confirmed in practice. The robot “blunts” in the city, even in quiet mode it tries to keep the arrow in the region of 2.5-3 thousand, it is often supported at low speeds. In the interior of the BMW M3, there is frankly cheap plastic of disgusting quality in the niches for the door handles (from the inside). The handbrake is also of absolutely poor quality and it is inconvenient to use it: it does not fit in the hand, it is an unpleasant move, it is not clear when it is fixed. The left footrest is made of aluminum, but BMW obviously saved on the pedals and did not bother to install aluminum lining.

Adaptive M suspension.

The fifth generation BMW M3 F80 (2017-2018) was first shown to the public at the North American Auto Show in 2014. The car began to be sold in Europe in the spring of 2014, and it arrived in Russia only in the summer of the same year. The model is currently produced only in the sedan body, and the manufacturers put the coupe and convertible into a separate model and named it, but we will talk about it in another review.

This is a new series and therefore it differs radically from the previous one, the model has become completely different, but it is still recognizable in the stream. We will start the review by tradition with design.

Exterior

As we have already said, the appearance of the car has changed a lot, its muzzle has received a long hood with a lot of bumps. Optics corresponds to the civilian version this car, it is narrow, its filling is LED and of course there are branded angel eyes.


Between the headlights is a branded grille with a chrome trim, which, in turn, is connected to the headlights. A rather massive, aerodynamic and aggressive bumper is installed, which has two huge air intakes in the lower part. The bumper looks really menacing.


Also, the side part of the BMW M3 2017-2018 model has undergone drastic changes. Here, after the front arch, there is a gill with chrome decoration, from which the upper line of the body goes through the door opening handles, it looks cool. The wheel arches are quite swollen, and there is also a small stamping in the lower part, which in turn visually connects the arches to each other. The design of the rear-view mirrors has changed, at first glance it seems that they have two racks, but this is not so, there is only one rack.


The rear of the car has also undergone major changes, it received a large trunk lid, which has a small but still noticeable spoiler in the upper part. Aggressive proprietary optics are installed at the back, allowing you to recognize the manufacturer by its style. rear bumper is also quite massive, it has reflectors that look menacing. Also under the bumper are four pipes of the exhaust system with a chic sound.

The dimensions of the model have also changed:

  • wheelbase - 2812 mm.

The manufacturer also changed the filling of the model. It has a 3 liter inline six-cylinder engine. This motor is equipped with a turbine and it produces 431 horsepower and 550 units of torque. The unit is paired with a robotic seven-speed gearbox, but a six-speed manual is also offered.

The model will always have rear drive, the manufacturer does not offer all-wheel drive versions. All this gave good dynamics in 4 seconds to the first hundred and 250 kilometers per hour top speed, limited by electronics. Also, with a quiet ride, in principle, it is not so voracious, you will have 11 liters of 98th gasoline in the city and 7 liters on the highway. Of course, if you drive, these numbers will be much higher.


The manufacturer took the suspension from the civilian version, but slightly changed it. The rear and front subframes have changed almost completely, most of the elements in the chassis were made of aluminum. And so it's a classic MacPherson strut in front and a multi-link system in the back. In addition, the model has excellent disc brakes with ventilation, 4-piston brakes are installed in front and 2-piston rear brakes. For extra money, a ceramic system is also offered, which is much better than the base one. The model is well controlled, and there are also driving modes, which affects the rigidity and ease of control.

As we have already said, the model has rear-wheel drive, but an active differential with electronic control wheel locks, and also installed a carbon fiber cardan shaft, thus making it lighter than on the civilian version.

Also, the interior of the model has undergone a significant change compared to the previous generation. Very high quality materials are used, such as good leather, alcantara and many carbon bets. In addition, at a high level and build quality.

Front passenger and driver get excellent leather sports seats with chic lateral support and power adjustment. In addition, seat heating may also be present. The back row is a sofa designed for three passengers, it has leather lining, and can also be heated. There is not so much free space there, but in principle it is enough. For rear passengers there are two air deflectors and a 12V socket.


The pilot of the BMW M3 F80 (2017-2018) will get a thin leather 3-spoke steering wheel, which is decorated with aluminum inserts, and also has 10 buttons to control the multimedia system. In addition, there are gearshift paddles on the steering wheel if the box is robotic. Driving we see dashboard, which has four analog sensors with chrome trim. The speedometer and tachometer sensors are large in size and therefore displays are placed in their lower part, which are essentially an on-board computer.


The center console immediately at the top meets us with a large display of the multimedia system. Below it we see a classic picture for this manufacturer - these are two air deflectors, between which there are buttons alarm and power window locks. Under this we already meet the volume control selector and switching radio stations, also in that area there is a slot for CDs. Under these selectors there is a separate climate control unit, it consists of two twists that are familiar to many, a display in the middle that displays all the information and a bunch of buttons, in principle everything is clear, but at first glance you get a little scared.


The tunnel, located between the driver and front passenger, has at the very beginning a pair of boxes for small things. After it, we see the gearbox selector, to the left of which there are buttons for enabling / disabling ESP and other things. On the right is a carbon fiber insert, on which there is a washer and several buttons for controlling the multimedia system, and to the left of all this is the parking brake handbrake. It is unlikely that anyone will use the trunk in this car. But still, if there are such people, then it will please you, since its volume is 480 liters.

BMW M3 price

As we have already said, the model began to be sold almost after the very start of sales, around the world a little later. Basic equipment models cost 3,222,000 rubles, for this money you received the following:
