Honda civic eg8 maximum wheel diameter. Wheel alignment angles

Requires special tools
Wheel toe gauge, 64 x 60 mm (07MGK-0010100)

The suspension allows adjustment of the camber and toe of the front wheels and toe rear wheels. However, each of these adjustments is made in accordance with the others. For example, when adjusting the camber, the wheel alignment changes. Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the position of the front wheels every time you adjust the camber or toe.

Preliminary check

To properly control and correct camber/toe-in, perform the following checks:

Kingpin angle check

Checking the angle of inclination of the kingpin of the front suspension

Adjusting the angle of inclination of the kingpin of the front suspension

The front camber can be adjusted by replacing the shock absorber fork bolts with smaller diameter adjustment bolts. The gap between the diameter of the adjusting bolt and the diameter of the mounting bolt hole allows for slight adjustment.

Checking the camber angle of the rear wheels

Checking and adjusting the toe-in of the front wheels

Checking and adjusting the convergence of the rear wheels

Checking the ratio of the angles of rotation of the wheels

2. With the brake pedal depressed, turn steering wheel all the way to the left and right and check the steering angles of the wheels. If the steering angle is not within tolerance or there is a difference in the steering angle limits of the right and left inner wheels, go to .
Angle of rotation:
Internal:
15 inch wheel: 40°06"±2°
16 inch wheel: 38°46"±2°
Outdoor (example):
15 inch wheel: 31°55"
16 inch wheel: 31°14"

Sizes of disks (wheels) Civic

Hub Honda Civic EJ9 1996 (1998) has 4 studs at 100mm spacing. Seat 56.1mm. Departure from ET38 to ET45. This 4x100 size is also available on the EJ8 body. Attention! Wheels from VAZ 4x98 with center 58.6 set Absolutely forbidden, the centers of the axes of the disc and the hub do not match. For lovers of sports driving, I note the size of the stock Honda Vi-RS and EK4 rims - 195/55 R15 6J ET45 4x100.

Disc designation

  • 4x100 ET38 56.1mm.

Wheel and tire designations

  • 185/60/R14 - stock (factory) rubber values.
  • 205/45/R16 are rubber values as an example.
  • 205 is the width in millimeters.
  • 45 - thickness in percentage ratio to width.
  • 14 is the diameter in inches.
  • R is the designation of the radial section of the cord on the tire, there is also a diagonal D section.

For a comfortable ride Russian roads- 45 is not enough. For me, it’s better to take 55. It makes no sense to take wider than 205, when cornering downhill, the wheel touches the arch. I chose summer tires Yokohama S.Drive 195/55/15.

For some discs (for example, Phobos - VSMPO company) you need to purchase internal spacers, axle adapters from 56 to 72mm. Usually they are plastic - they crumple. It is advisable to turn to a turner to make metal ones. Spacer sizes 56-72 are in the articles.

Rubbing or not rubbing discs

A very relevant question for all seasons. What discs can be put on a vegetable Honda Civic EJ9 and EK3. Our bolt pattern is 4x100, with a 56.1mm seat. The ideal offset is from ET38 to ET45, if the offset is less then it rubs against the arch. Having collected a little statistics, now everyone can choose for themselves.
Marks XX mean that the parameter is unfortunately not known. If you can add, then you will help many to make a choice:

  • 6.0 ET38 R14 - OK!
  • 6.5 ET38 R14 205/60 — OK!
  • 6.5 ET38 R15 195/50 — OK!
  • 6.5 ET33 R15 195/55 - tert moon rover
  • 6.5 ET38 R15 195/50 — OK!
  • 6.5 ET38 R15 205/50 — OK!
  • 6.5 ET45 R15 195/55 - the best option
  • 6.5 ET45 R15 185/60 does not hurt anything.
  • 6.5 ET45 R15 195/50 springs -40 OK!
  • 205/45 R16 (Stock suspension, no tinder)
  • 205/50 R16 (Stock suspension, no tinder)
  • 205/40 R17 (Stock suspension, no tinder)
  • 7.0 ET25 R1x - Lunar rover with 20mm out
  • 7.0 ET37 R1x - rear camber-2, wheel arch gap 2mm
  • 7.0 ET42 R16 - OK!
  • 7.5 ETxx R17 205/40 - landing -30
  • 7.5 ETxx R16 205/50 - OK!

Check tires regularly for damage. Check tire pressure every two weeks or at least once a month. Don't forget to check the spare tire pressure.

Attention: when transporting heavy loads, the pressure in the rear tires should be increased by approximately 0.5 bar.

Note:

  1. The lower the tread height, the greater the risk of tire slip. The performance of snow tires is significantly reduced if the tread is worn to a height of less than 4 mm.
  2. Incorrect tire pressure can shorten tire life and make your vehicle less safe to drive.
  3. Underinflation leads to excessive tire wear, an increased chance of punctures from overheated tires, poor handling and increased fuel consumption.
  4. If the tire pressure is very low, the wheel may be deformed or the tire may have come loose.
  5. High tire pressure results in poor comfort, handling problems, and increased wear on the center tread of the tire tread.

Checking the pressure is only done when the tires are cold. If the car has been parked for at least three hours, the pressure gauge reading will be correct.

Attention:

1) Always use a pressure gauge. Appearance tires can be misleading.

2) Be sure to replace the tire valve cap, as dirt and moisture may enter the valve and cause air leakage.

Tire replacement.

  1. When replacing tires, use only tires of the same size and design as the original tires, and with the same or greater load capacity. The use of any other size or type of tire may seriously affect handling, comfort, speedometer/odometer accuracy, ground clearance, body to tire or chain clearance.
  2. It is recommended to change all four tires or at least both front or rear tires at the same time.
  3. After repairing a tire, the wheel must be balanced.
  4. Every 5 thousand kilometers, swap the tires according to the scheme shown in the figure.
  5. Pay attention to the tread pattern. On tires with a directional tread pattern, an arrow in the direction of rotation is applied to the side and the inscription "rotation" may also be present.

Features of the operation of aluminum wheels.

Attention: To avoid damage to the protective varnish layer, do not allow tire workers to clean the outer surface of the disc with a wire brush and, when replacing adhesive balance weights, remove them with a screwdriver.

  1. If rearrangement, replacement or repair of wheels was carried out, then after the first 1600 km. check that the nuts are secure.
  2. Use wheel nuts and a Honda wrench specifically designed for aluminum rims.
  3. When balancing wheels, use special weights for aluminum wheels, as well as a plastic or rubber mallet.
  4. Periodically check the aluminum rims for damage (cracks and chips.) If there is damage, replace the wheel immediately.
  5. When replacing tires with a directional tread pattern, check that they are installed correctly.

The landing size of disks on Civic Ferio 2001-2005 in.(disks)

1. Due attention should be paid to the replacement of wheel disks. Make sure to install discs with the same load capacity, diameter, rim width and offset.

2. Incorrect selection of rims and tires can adversely affect handling, wheel and bearing life, cooling brake mechanism, speedometer/odometer reading accuracy, value stopping distance, headlight direction, bumper height, ground clearance and the distance between the tire and the body.

Depending on the type of tires, the following disks are installed, indicated in the table "Correspondence of tire sizes with the parameters of wheel disks". For example, a possible marking is given:

6JJx14H4 - ET45 - PCD100 - DIA56

In the marking of disco wheels, the first digit is " 6 " indicates the width of the rim " H" expressed either in millimeters or inches. Letters in " JJ" indicate the shape of the rim. The following number " 16 "indicates the bore diameter of the wheel disk" D" in inches, which must correspond to the fit diameter of the tire being installed. Number " 45 "after letters" ET" stands for disc ejection ( ET) in mm. also in the markings there are the following designations: " H4" means the presence of 4 holes for mounting bolts or studs, the numbers after the designation " DIA"diameter central hole, "PCD"diameter of the location of the holes for mounting bolts or studs.
