Summer Battle Cup 2016 is a chance to take part in a single-elimination mini-tournament in Captains Mode. There will be 8 teams in each branch of the tournament. Players will have to fight in 3 rounds to win and get exclusive rewards.
Awards:
15 levels for the Battle Pass- each player from the team that receives the champion title will be awarded 15 levels for the Battle Pass. The Battle Pass is not required to enter the tournament, but you will need it to activate the levels.
Battle Cup Trophy- each champion will receive an in-game trophy that can be displayed on their profile and track the number of victories in the Battle Cup.

The special appearance and exclusive status will be visible to all players, wherever you are: in the chat, on the loading screen, in the game or in the main menu.

How to start looking for an opponent?
To start searching for an opponent, select the appropriate mode in the "Play" tab or go to the Battle Cup section in your battle pass.
Who can take part in the Battle Cup?
The only requirement is the account level in Dota 2. It should not be lower than 25th. You do not need to have a battle pass or play ranked calibration matches.
How much does the ticket cost?
Tickets are sold for $0.99 each in the game store, and each team must have 5 tickets to register. Team players can spend several tickets, giving the right to participate in the tournament to their teammates. All Battle Pass owners receive one ticket each and have the opportunity to get another one at level 137. Please note that tickets are not transferable or giftable.
On what basis is the selection of opponents?
Matchmaking is based on the geographical location of the participants and their tournament rank. This rank is calculated from your MMR when you first enter the tournament. After that, the system takes into account only this rank, which increases or decreases depending on how far you go each week. If team members have different tournament ranks, then matchmaking takes the highest one as a basis. In addition, a team can voluntarily enter a higher rank tournament to speed up progress.
What happens between matches?
After the victory, the team has some time to start looking for a new opponent. If the deadline is broken, but there is still an opportunity to find an opponent, then the team will be able to continue participating in the tournament. Otherwise, the late team will be removed from the tournament without ticket compensation.
How are compounds formed?
The system does not involve automatic matchmaking, which would collect individual players into teams. You need to join a group inside the game to take part in the tournament. If a team lacks players, it can use the regional chat (each rank has its own team) to complete the squad. Once five players have entered a tournament, the team's roster cannot be changed. If a team does not want to continue playing, then its captain can remove the team from the tournament.
What happens if a player has connection problems?
If problems appear at the start, then the game will start without the eliminated player, who will have the opportunity to join the game. Such players are not removed from the game and do not receive a penalty for leaving the match. In addition, the system for detecting inactive players does not work in tournament matches. If the server does not work well or has completely crashed, then the spent tickets are returned to the teams.

Tickets - how much does a ticket cost?

Match - how are opponents selected?

Each player has an individual tournament level indicator, which initially depends on your rating. After the initial level is set, your rating will not be taken into account in Battle Cup. Your tournament level will go up after a few wins and go down if you lose repeatedly. If the members of your team have different tournament levels, then the highest one will be taken into account in the selection. Moreover, each team has the right to take part in Battle Cup one level up to make it harder for yourself and increase your level of play faster.
After the match - what happens between rounds?
Between matches, each team must queue up for the next round at a certain time. If you missed your time, then the team will still have the opportunity to play in the tournament, but only if the system can find an opponent. If it is not possible to find an opponent within the specified time, the team will lose the pass to the tournament without a refund of the entry fee.
Availability of the opponent - what happens if the team has time to queue up at the designated time, but the opponent is still not found?
Occasionally it may happen that we will not be able to find an opponent corresponding to your level, despite the fact that you managed to get in line at the appointed time. If a team advances to the semi-finals and the only eligible opponent is already in the grand final, you may be awarded a technical victory. If an opponent is still not found, then the team will be returned its entry fee, and the team's statistics will be updated depending on the stage you have reached. Teams that do not queue up at the specified time will not receive any compensation if an opponent is not found.
Teams - how are the rosters determined?
There is no system that would automatically select allies for you to participate in the tournament - you will need to assemble a team yourself. For teams that could not assemble the full roster, there is a separate chat room for each region. In it you can find the missing players. The roster is fixed the moment you enter the tournament and you are not allowed to change players. If the team does not want to continue playing, the group leader will be able to leave the tournament on behalf of the team.
Connection problems - what to do if one of the players cannot join?
If one of the players experiences connection problems from the very beginning of the game, then the match will start without him. The player will be able to connect to the game at any time. Disconnected players are not removed from the game as time passes and are not marked as having left the game. The system that detects AFK players is not working. In the event of a server breakdown or poor connection from the valve all participants will be refunded their contributions, and team statistics will be updated.

Tournament points - what is the Battle Cup rating?
Everyone who took part in Battle Cup the player also earns a tournament rating, which depends on the place that the team can take in the tournament. Who can take part?
Every account with a profile icon level above 25. No Battle Pass required, no MMR calibration required.
How much does the ticket cost?

Each player is assigned a tournament division, which is initially determined based on MMR. After that, MMR does not count in any way in Battle Cup tournaments. The division goes up with multiple wins, goes down with multiple losses in the early stages of the bracket. If team members play in different divisions, only the highest division is taken into account when selecting an opponent. In addition, a team can choose a higher division (1 higher than the maximum in the team) to participate in the tournament, while individual divisions will increase faster (after wins).

How can I find teammates?
Matchmaking does not select teammates - to participate in the tournament, you must independently assemble a group of 5 people. There are two in-game mechanisms that will help you find comrades.
- New! Automatic search for teammates: searches for single players who are looking for a group. Search criteria: language, cup division, ping. As soon as a suitable player is found, he will be added to the group. If you need to have more players in a group, use this tool until you have a full group of players.
- You can also find teammates from the same cup division and geographic region in the dedicated chat.
The team's roster is fixed when the team registers for the tournament, substitutions are not allowed. If a team does not wish to continue participating in the tournament, the leader may withdraw his team from the tournament.
What are Battle Cup points and what are they for?
The Battle Cup points represent your progress throughout the season. Each week, the number of points will increase depending on how you performed in the tournament. Each player receives at least 10 points for participating in the tournament, 30 points for winning the first round and advancing to the second, 80 points for reaching the final, and 70 points for winning the tournament.
Points can be compared with your friends. Points can be used to unlock achievements and rewards in the Battle Pass. The players with the most points in each geographic region will be able to compete in an additional final cup of the season - the so-called. championship cup.
If during the season you visited different geographic regions, the scoring will be conducted separately for each region.
What is the championship cup?
New! The Champion Cup is a special Battle Cup tournament that takes place at the end of the season. Players can earn the right to participate in this exclusive tournament - the golden ticket - by accumulating enough Battle Cup points in their region (the exact numbers will be announced later). Players interested in participating in the Championship Cup can increase their chances of qualifying for it by entering each weekly tournament in the same geographic region. How to get to the Dota 2 Major tournament?
New! In addition to the open qualifiers, the Champions Cup allows any player to qualify for the Dota 2 Major. Starting from the spring season, one slot in each regional qualification will be reserved for the team that won the previous season's Division 8 Champions Cup. As soon as the 2016 Fall Season Champion Cup ends, each player who wins it will be able to join forces with other similar Division 8 Cup winners to participate in one of four special qualifiers (Spring Major Battle Cup Qualifiers) organized for the winners of the Battle cup. What if the player has problems with the Internet?
