Hunting rifles izh. Review of models of Izhevsk hunting rifles: characteristics and comparison Izh 1996 firearms

The hunting smoothbore gun IZH-43, which was produced by the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant, was developed as an alternative replacement for the IZH-58 gun, which was already very outdated in the 80s of the 20th century, as it had been produced for 30 years.

The history of the appearance of the hunting rifle IZH-43

Although hunting does not require the latest developments in the field of weapons, progress does not stand still, therefore, in the 80s, the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant began developing a new model of a smoothbore gun, which was supposed to replace the popular IZH-58 model. As a basis for creating a new double-barreled shotgun, the designers took the IZH-58MA. For the new model of the gun, the designers decided to globally improve the mechanism for automatic ejection of spent cartridges.

The first models of the IZH-43 series were:

  • IZH-43M;
  • IZH-43EM.

Serial production of these models began in 1986.

During the creation of a new model of a smoothbore gun, the designers focused on the following things:

  • Improving the quality of the safety mechanism of weapons;
  • Improving the fit of the receiver to the barrels themselves, which should have increased the reliability of the model (although looking at some of the IZH-43 guns that were released in the 90s, you begin to strongly doubt whether the designers succeeded in this item).

Unlike the IZH-58M model, in which the barrels are locked with a striker plate using 3 locking grenade hooks, in the IZH-43M, the designers decided to get by with two hooks. The practice of using IZH-58M showed that 2 hooks would be enough. On the IZH-43 gun, the protrusion on the barrel muff was removed, which helped to make the fit of the breech cut of the barrels to the receiver tighter.

Modification IZH-43, which received an ejector mechanism for extracting spent cartridges, is called IZH-43EM. Although there was previously an IZH-58MAE model, which also had an ejector, this model received many complaints from hunters during operation. IZH-43EM received the following design features:

  • Significantly increased the girth of the sleeve flange;
  • Instead of one ejector spring, two autonomous ones were introduced, which coped much better with their duties;
  • Cartridges that were not used in the hunting process began to advance 6 mm further than the IZH-58MAE.

In general, all these improvements have significantly increased the overall reliability of the ejector mechanism, which had a lot of complaints in the previous model.

Technical characteristics of the hunting rifle IZH-43

TTX smoothbore gun IZH-43 is as follows:

  • IZH-43 is available in 12 and 16 gauges;
  • The length of the chamber can be either 70 or 76 mm;
  • Barrel length is 660, 720 and 750 mm;
  • The mass of the gun is about 3.6 kg.

The horizontally located removable barrels of weapons are connected to each other by means of the aiming and lower bars, and in the breech, the barrels are connected by a coupling, where they are pressed in and locked with a pin. Spent cartridges are removed due to the work of the ejector, which is affected by the feeder when the gun is opened. Complete removal of spent cartridges occurs manually (in the case of the IZH-43M model).

If we compare the IH-43 with the IZH-58, then in general it can be seen that it has become much more convenient to load and remove cartridges from a gun. The reliability of the IZH-43 has increased significantly, now it has fired at least 15,000 rounds.

The detachable forearm is attached to the hinge post by using a lever-type latch. Both the latch and the hinge are fastened in the grooves of the forearm by screws. Since the IZH-43 does not have a groove on the upper plane of the forend, the contact area of the cutout to the hinge post increases.

Double locking of the barrel occurs due to the extension of the striker plate on two grenade hooks. The locking lever itself is screwed onto the head of the striker lever. A special spring acts on this bar through the cam. Turning the lock lever to the right unlocks the gun barrel.

The trigger mechanism IZH-43 is of the trigger type with an internal location of the triggers, which have a rebound mechanism and safety cocks. Both the strikers and the rebound springs are inseparably connected to the triggers. Helical mainsprings and emphasis are assembled in a separate block, which is fixed with a pin and is removable. The trigger mechanism itself is located on a separate larva. It is equipped with two triggers that are autonomous. A trigger guard is attached below the hooks. Since the triggers are spring-loaded to the heels of the sear, they have no backlash. There are protrusions on the triggers that do not allow a shot to be fired when the barrels are not fully closed, which makes the use of IZH-43 safer.

An automatic safety locks the triggers and sears. In order to perform a shockless descent of the triggers on the safety platoons, you need to perform the following manipulations:

  1. Fully open trunks;
  2. The safety button must be moved to the forward position;
  3. Press two triggers simultaneously with two fingers;
  4. Smoothly close the gun.

The fuse itself is a flat-shaped part that is mounted on the shank of the receiver. It is spring-loaded and fixed on the box due to the axis. If we compare the fuse button IZH-43 with the fuse button IZH-58, then on model 43 the fuse button is fixed with a ball in the upper position.

Since the IZH-58 stock was not ergonomic enough, it was decided to modernize it a little in the new model. The radius butt end of the IZH-58 was replaced by a new contour end, which had a right angle and an inner radius. Thanks to this change in the shape of the butt, the pitching of the weapon during firing has noticeably decreased.

Various modifications of the IZH-43 gun

Using the base model IZH-43, the designers based on it developed several more modifications that differed from the base model in various improvements:

  • The first model that was released on the basis of IZH-43 is IZH-43EM. This model differs from the basic one by the presence of an automatic device for removing spent cartridges. It is the spent cartridge case that is ejected from the barrel from which the shot was fired. The whole cartridge is not ejected, but only slightly protrudes from the barrel, which helps to remove it and replace it with another one if necessary. The new ejector mechanism, which was significantly improved compared to the IZH-58MAE ejector, began to work much more efficiently;
  • After 2 years, two more IZH-43 models were put into production. These were modifications of IZH-43 and IZH-43E. These models are distinguished by the presence of a universal trigger mechanism, which allows you to fire from both barrels by using one trigger. In addition, this mechanism can also fire in standard mode, that is, by pressing one trigger we will get a shot from the right barrel, and by pressing the other - from the left. Similar models of IZH-43 are extremely rare, so if you come across a used double-barreled shotgun of this modification for sale, try to purchase it;
  • Sometimes in the CIS you can find an extremely rare modification of the trigger IZH-43. Its main feature is the presence of external cocking internal triggers. This modification is called IZH-43K (trigger). It is suitable for those who are attracted to hunting weapons with external triggers.

Pros and cons of the IZH-43 hunting rifle

Like any weapon, IZH-43 has a lot of advantages and, unfortunately, disadvantages. The advantages of this model are as follows:

  • Excellent value for money. There are a lot of these guns on the market today that are no longer needed by their previous owners. If you take the time to search, you can find a gun in excellent condition for 6-9 thousand rubles;
  • IZH-43 has excellent combat, sharpness and accuracy both when firing shots and bullets;
  • The gun is safe enough to handle and reliable even with inaccurate operation (within reasonable limits);
  • The gun has excellent balance;
  • The design of the USM eliminates the possibility of an accidental shot, since it can only occur when the trigger is pressed.

The disadvantages of the IZH-43 hunting shotgun are floating, since the build quality of inexpensive domestic shotguns is a real lottery. The easiest way to choose the best example is to choose it from several identical guns. If you want exactly the old version of IZH-43, and not MP-43, then you will have to choose from the copies that are in the hands of hunters. Sometimes in the selection process you have to “wind” more than one hundred kilometers. In some cases, design flaws can be eliminated with your own hands using a simple set of tools. On specialized hunting forums, many topics are devoted to this.

Most of the most common IZH-43 problems are as follows:

  • The wooden parts of the gun are often distinguished not only by terrible impregnation, but also by frankly sloppy processing. This problem is eliminated by removing wooden parts, their careful grinding and subsequent impregnation. Some hunters adapt the stock to their anatomical features;
  • Sometimes the ejector mechanism refuses to work. This problem is treated by disassembly and "piling";
  • Sometimes the trigger guard can injure the finger, so that this does not happen, at the slightest sign of discomfort when shooting, the guard should be filed or covered with a thick protective coating;
  • The anti-corrosion coating on almost all guns of this series is extremely imperfect. In order to avoid problems associated with the appearance of rust, experienced hunters recommend rubbing the metal surfaces of the gun with gun oil during hunting.

As can be seen from the list presented, most of the shortcomings of IZH-43 can be eliminated with your own hands.

IZH-43 yesterday and today

Modern modifications of the IZH-43 are called MP-43, but there is still a tendency to buy guns of the IZH-43 model. IZH-43 of the "pre-perestroika" period, which were produced in the USSR, are especially popular. No matter how they scolded the Soviet industry, weapons in the USSR were of fairly stable quality.

The most frankly unsuccessful are the divisions of the 90s of production, when the enterprise was chasing an increase in the number of products, to the detriment of quality. Be that as it may, the main problems with such guns are sloppy processing of wooden and metal parts.

Despite the nondescript appearance, even the guns of the 90s are reliable and effective hunting weapons. In their price category, domestic guns are unmatched in quality, as they are made in accordance with the canons of the Soviet gun school. Unlike inexpensive European or Turkish hunting rifles, the resource and maintainability of domestic weapons are pleasantly striking.

If the Kalashnikov concern paid more attention to the aesthetic component of inexpensive hunting rifles, then they would be in great demand abroad. If now we compare a hunting rifle of the 60-70s of the 20th century with a modern “remake”, which should surpass it in all respects, the comparison will clearly not be in favor of the latter.

With the old school designers retired, gun factories are now run by managers who are looking for how to get the most value for the least amount of money. Only in the last few years has it become noticeable that the processing quality of MP-43, which is a direct descendant of IZH-43, is beginning to gradually increase.

Since the Kalashnikov concern annually develops various interchangeable nozzles and improves the design of the MP-43 (IZH-43) trigger mechanism, one can hope that in the end it will come down to the quality of processing weapon parts. Many hunters throughout Russia and the CIS are ready to pay 20-30 percent extra and get an excellent hunting weapon that will not need serious “peeling”.

The mechanical plant, which enjoys great and well-deserved popularity among beginners and professional hunters, of course, is the IZH-27M. For more than thirty years of history of this gun, more than one and a half million copies have been mass-produced. Design developments have reached the highest degree of reliability. The IZH-27M shotgun has stable action and excellent balance, and is also distinguished by its simplicity and reliability among its competitors. In terms of operational characteristics and technical capabilities, this hunting rifle is not inferior to the best world models.

New modification

The mass production of the IZH-27M model gun was launched in the distant 70s of the last century. The main developer is Anatoly Andreevich Klimov, who, as a result of the modernization of the first vertical IZH-12, managed to create a completely new modernized model IZH-27M.

Innovative Solutions

The Izhevsk gunsmiths made the following changes to their novelty:

  • a rubber recoil pad was installed on the butt;
  • the usual sighting bar has become a ventilation one;
  • the new model has an ejector;
  • the shape of the forearm and stock was changed;
  • adjustments were made at the junction of the box with the stock;
  • the barrel is made of high quality steel;
  • increased corrosion resistance of gun channels and the chamber is ensured by reliable chrome plating;
  • the locking unit has become simpler and more reliable;
  • shockless descent of the triggers is provided.

However, the most innovative change is the fuse. The new one received an automatic fuse. For the reliability of the gun, an interceptor (interceptor of triggers) was added. Accuracy of fire is also ensured, if necessary, by interchangeable muzzle nozzles. The fore-end and buttstock are made of walnut and beech, which gives the sporting hunting rifle a special aesthetic appeal.

The best in Russia

Despite the rather high cost of the IZH-27M gun, the price of weapons of the sample until 1991 today is more than 60 thousand rubles, it is very popular among hunters. Manufacturers are especially proud of its recognition on the Russian market. In 2003, the model of the IZH-27M hunting sporting rifle became the winner of the 100 Best Goods of Russia award.

Security measures

When handling the IZH-27M gun, you should follow the safety rules that must be remembered.

  1. Even an unloaded gun should never be pointed at people.
  2. When handing over the gun to another person, you must make sure that the chamber is empty.
  3. During shooting, the butt must be pressed tightly to the shoulder. Do not shoot from two barrels at once.
  4. Turn off the fuse only before the shot, when the target is determined.
  5. When selecting a target, the finger rests on the safety guard, not the trigger.
  6. For confident shooting, use cartridges of only proven factory brands. Moreover, their shelf life should not exceed four years.
  7. In case of a misfire, do not take the gun to the side. It is possible that a “protracted” shot occurs due to a malfunction of the cartridge primer. Wait 2 minutes and unload the gun by pointing the muzzle and chamber away from you.
  8. If a change in the sound of a shot is determined by ear, then it is worth stopping the shooting and cleaning the barrel channels of the gun.
  9. Shooting from a faulty IZH-27M rifle is prohibited.
  10. It is necessary to constantly carry out preventive work.

Shotgun IZH-27M: storage and care

The gun must be stored in a completely dry place. Any penetration of moisture can lead to oxidation and rust of metal parts and assemblies. The barrel must be separated from the gun. The triggers and locking locks must be in the deflated state. All gun parts, such as fore-end, barrel, pads, pivot pin, must be well lubricated. This is a prerequisite, since even with high-quality chrome plating of the parts of the gun, after the very first shots, it begins to crumble. With intensive use of weapons, carbon deposits always form in the inner surface of the barrel.

Therefore, before lubricating this nodal part of a hunting rifle, special attention must be paid. The inside of the trunk is washed with warm water and wiped dry. Lead residues are removed with a soft brush. Experienced hunters know that the pinch screw must be constantly tightened. Even a small amount of play can affect the quality of shooting.

In order for the gun to serve its owner as long as possible, you should not click the trigger when there is no cartridge in the barrels. It would be more correct if the spent cartridge case is in the chamber, only in this case it is possible to guarantee a minimum erasure of the key parts of the gun.

Specifications

All structural changes that were made in subsequent years in the development of new models of hunting weapons, to one degree or another, repeated the innovative solutions of the IZH-27M. Characteristics, both technical and dynamic, do not have significant differences from the base model. For example, the combined shotgun "Sever", produced in 1993, combined a rifled upper barrel under and a lower smooth barrel of the 20th caliber.

As you can see, the main design idea of the basic IZH-27M shotgun was retained. The characteristics of subsequent samples also did not change much. In 1995, a novelty appeared on the shelves of hunting shops, the IZH-94 model, which repeated the main idea of the 27th model.

The upper smooth barrel is 12-gauge, the lower rifled for various cartridges such as "magnum" or "winchester". It is worth noting that a year later, IZH-94 still received separate sighting of the trunks. A trigger mechanism of a new type was installed on the gun, which made it possible to trigger the trigger of the lower barrel with a shneller. This greatly improved the quality of shooting.

Basic characteristics of IZH-27M:

  • Barrel caliber, mm - 12, 16, 20.
  • The mass of the gun, kg - 3.2-3.4.
  • Barrel length IZH-27M, mm - 675-750.
  • Barrel channel diameter 12 gauge, mm - 18.2.
  • Barrel channel diameter 16 gauge, mm - 17.0.
  • Barrel channel diameter 20 caliber, mm - 15.5.
  • Chamber length, mm - 70 and 76.
  • Pistol stock, wood - beech, walnut.
  • Muzzle narrowing of the lower barrel, mm - 0.5 (pay).
  • Muzzle narrowing of the upper barrel, mm - 1.0 (choke).

Old is sometimes better than new.

Shotguns with a release date before 1991 are especially popular with hunting professionals. It was during that period that manufacturers allowed the least amount of marriage and technical deviations in the IZH-27 M model range. The price of such a gun is still high. Modern models, unfortunately, are significantly inferior in quality to the old and proven samples of Izhevsk gunsmiths. Today there is a very high demand for the IZH-27M gun, the price of some exclusive (piece) samples reaches 2-3 thousand conventional units.

Expensive hunting rifles. Prices and types of models

Every amateur or professional hunter wants to have in his arsenal a special, exclusive gun that would fully satisfy his interests and wishes. Unfortunately, our needs do not always coincide with our desires. It is known that world brands are far superior to the domestic manufacturer in terms of the quality of hunting and sporting weapons. Some hunting enthusiasts specifically collect exclusive hunting rifles, the prices for which are sometimes amazing. Here are some examples:

piece guns

Today, the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant offers all lovers of hunting weapons piece production aimed at the discerning buyer. The most popular model is IZH-27M 12 gauge. Improved engraving is done in silver. The build quality of the proposed models is very high, the fitting of the gun is made according to the individual wishes of the customer.

Other features of the exclusive production of weapons at IzhMEKh include:

  • bluing trunks;
  • improved balance;
  • the barrel locking mechanism has a carbide insert;
  • the fuse runs smoothly;
  • individual adjustment of the stock and forearm.

Naturally, the cost of such an individual gun is several times higher than serial samples. Photo of IZH-27M piece assembly, see below.

Shotguns of the IZH brand are produced at the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Izhevsk Mechanical Plant" - this is the largest diversified enterprise in Russia.

The main share in commodity production is occupied by the manufacture of sporting and hunting rifles and pistols. The enterprise has no equal both in terms of production volumes and in the variety of models of sports and hunting, pneumatic and service weapons that have gained worldwide fame. The volume of production of civilian weapons Baikal is 750 thousand pieces per year.

Double-barreled shotgun with vertically coupled barrels of 12 and 16 gauges. The old model (1962-1974) was produced in large series. Unlike the basic model IZH-59, the barrels of the IZH-12 are soldered, their length is reduced to 720-730 mm, the bore diameter is reduced to the standard 18.2 mm. Interceptors installed. Shotguns manufactured in the late 1960s have an automatic safety.

2.

A double-barreled shotgun with horizontally arranged barrels of the 16th, to a lesser extent 12th and 20th calibers. An old model based on a Sauer double-barreled shotgun, mass-produced from 1950 to 1954 in ordinary and piece versions. The gun had too much weight and unsatisfactory balance. So, the vast majority of 16-gauge guns weighed 3.25 kg, but there were specimens weighing up to 3.5 kg. Shotguns of the 12th caliber weighed 3.5-3.75 kg, the 20th - 3-3.25 kg.

3. IZH-59 "Sputnik"

Double-barreled shotgun with vertically coupled 12-gauge barrels designed by A. Klimov. Old model. It was mass-produced in 1960-1964. It was intended mainly for amateur hunting, as well as for sports shooting on a trench stand.

IZH-26 is a double-barreled shotgun of 12-gauge with a horizontal arrangement of trunks based on IZH-54. Designed for amateur and commercial hunting. Allows firing with smokeless and smoky powders; undergoes special tests with enhanced charges of smokeless powder, developing in the barrel channels with a block of unassembled guns 900 kg/cm2 and with an assembled gun 850 kg/cm2. Produced in 1970-1975. Old model. Shotguns IZH-26 and IZH-26E were produced in ordinary and piece versions. In terms of most performance indicators, they were not inferior to the best foreign models of their class. It was in great demand in the domestic and foreign markets.

The most popular classic gun of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant enjoys well-deserved fame among professional and amateur hunters. Over 30 years of mass production, more than 1.5 million guns have been produced, design solutions have been worked out to the highest level of reliability. Possessing an excellent balance, stable action, simple and reliable design, IZH-27M, in terms of its technical features and operational characteristics, corresponds to guns of higher price classes.

IZH-43 is a double-barreled shotgun with horizontally arranged barrels of 12 and 16 gauges for a hunting cartridge with a sleeve 70 mm long based on IZH-58MA and IZH-58MAE. (Shotguns of 20 caliber chambered for "Magnum" are produced only for export). Developed by designer A.N. Kalinin.

IZH-54 is a double-barreled shotgun with horizontally arranged 12-gauge barrels. The old model, designed by A.A. Klimov, was produced from 1954 to 1970 in large series and individually. The base model is the IZH-49 gun, significantly revised and improved by L.I. Pugachev.

Double-barreled shotgun with a horizontal arrangement of trunks 12, 16, 20, and 28 calibers. Developed under the leadership of L.I. Pugachev. It has been produced for more than 30 years in large batches since 1958 and still in some modifications. The vast majority of guns were made in 12 and 16 gauges, but at one time this model was conceived as a fishing weapon of small calibers - 20 and 28. Serially shotguns of the 28th caliber were not produced. Since 1987, the model has been replaced by IZH-43.

The IZH-81 smoothbore gun is designed for law enforcement, self-defense and hunting. Produced since 1993 at the State Enterprise "Izhevsk Mechanical Plant". The barrel bore is locked by a longitudinally sliding bolt, coupled with the barrel by a swinging wedge, which enters the groove of the receiver sleeve. At the same time, at the time of the shot, the pressure force of the powder gases is perceived by the clutch rigidly connected to the barrel. Thus, when fired, the receiver is unloaded, which made it possible to make it from aluminum alloy. The movement of the wedge during locking and unlocking, as well as the movement of the shutter, is carried out by a slider kinematically connected to the forearm using a link located on the left side of the receiver. The fore-end during reloading moves along the outer surface of the magazine tube, which is fixedly connected to the receiver.

10. IZH-94 (combined)

The model was developed on the basis of the popular IZH-27M over/under shotgun. The lower location of the rifled barrel allows the use of powerful bullet cartridges. The barless connection of the barrels guarantees the stability of the barrel block to dynamic loads when fired. The trigger mechanism is mounted in the gun box, which simplifies the design and, accordingly, increases the reliability of the gun as a whole.

IZH-27- a double-barreled hunting rifle designed for commercial and amateur hunting. The gun barrels are detachable, located in a vertical plane. Since September 2008, the gun has been produced under the name MP-27.

Double-barreled hunting guns IZH-27M, IZH-27EM and IZH-27M-1S, IZH-27EM-1C are designed for various types of hunting with hunting cartridges according to GOST 7840-78 or GOST 23565-79. Shotguns with a chamber of 76.2 mm (M-M, EM-M, M-1S-M, EM-1S-M) are also designed to fire Magnum cartridges. Shotguns IZH-27EM (EM-M) differ from the basic model IZH-27M by the presence of a mechanism for automatic ejection of cartridge cases. Shotguns IZH-27M-1S and IZH-27EM-1S (M-1S-M, EM-1S-M) differ from the corresponding models IZH-27M(EM) by the presence of a single-trigger mechanism.

The history of the hunting rifle IZH-27 (MR-27)

The IZH-27 gun is the result of a deep modernization of the IZH-12 gun, developed under the leadership of Anatoly Andreevich Klimov. It has been mass-produced since 1973. More than 1.5 million IZH-27 rifles (all modifications) have been produced. IZH-12 - the first "vertical", which became widespread in the Soviet Union and won the appreciation of hunters for its reliability and unpretentiousness, was modernized in the early 70s. The following innovations have been made to this model:

  • changed the shape of the stock and forearm;
  • instead of the usual one, they made a ventilation aiming bar;
  • the fuse was made automatic, adding interceptors (hammer interceptors) for reliability;
  • installed an ejector;
  • changed the shape of the box at the points of its connection with the box;
  • a rubber recoil pad was installed on the butt.

The new model received the index IZH-27. The gun is still being produced, both in serial and in piece and souvenir versions. The series includes shotguns of 12 and 16 gauges. The weight of guns of the 12th caliber is not more than 3.4 kg, the 16th - 3.3 kg. Barrel length 720 - 730 mm, chambers - 70 mm. Choke - 0.5 mm for the lower barrel (pay) and 1 mm for the upper (choke). The barrels have a front sight, a regular or ventilated aiming bar. The barrel channels are chrome-plated, the outer surface is oxidized or coated with black chrome. The connection of the trunks with the block is carried out by underbarrel hooks and a hinge. Locking occurs with the help of a locking frame, which is included in the groove of the rear grenade hook. When the barrels are opened, the hammers are cocked.

The trigger mechanism allows the triggers to be smoothly released from the cocking when the barrels are closed. The automatic fuse has trigger interceptors (interceptors) and locks the sear. The sleeves are removed from the chamber by an extractor. The modification of the IZH-27E gun is equipped with an ejector that ejects only the spent cartridge case and can, if necessary, be turned off.

Modifications of the base model under the indices IZH-27-1S and IZH-27E-1S have one trigger, which allows you to fire from both barrels in the desired sequence. In Soviet times, a batch of IZH-27 rifles with two pairs of barrels was produced. One pair had a barrel length of 750 - 760 mm with a strong choke, the other had short barrels of 660 - 670 mm with cylindrical drilling or a special muzzle expansion. In small quantities, modifications of the 12-gauge IZH-27 shotgun for clay target shooting were also produced. In particular, for a trench stand - IZH-27ST weighing 3.3 - 3.4 kg and a barrel length of 760 mm (lower - full choke, upper - reinforced choke). For a round stand - IZH-27SK weighing 3.2 - 3.3 kg with a barrel length of 660 mm (lower - cylinder, upper - cylinder with a socket).

The IZH-27ST gun can be used for hare and fox hunting, as well as for shooting ducks and geese in flight at maximum distances of up to 50 meters. IZH-27SK is convenient in the forest when hunting with a cop, subject to shooting up to 25 meters. The IZH-27 gun is used in all types of hunting for birds and animals using shot, buckshot and bullets. It is equally good for shooting ungulates, bears, exterminating wolves, hunting foxes, hares, upland game and waterfowl.

At the same time, many connoisseurs and connoisseurs of hunting weapons believe that the shape of shotguns with a vertical arrangement of barrels has not yet been brought to the classical simplicity and lightness, like piece double-barreled shotguns with a horizontal arrangement of trunks and a straight stock.

Modifications of the hunting rifle MP-27 (IZH-27)

Until recently, the following modifications of the MP-27 (IZH-27) hunting rifle were produced:

  • MR-27M(previously called IZH-27M) - a gun without an ejector, with two triggers.
  • MP-27EM(previously called IZH-27EM) - a shotgun with a selective type ejector - ejects only a spent cartridge case and, if necessary, can be turned off. Has two triggers.
  • MR-27M-1S(previously called IZH-27M-1S) - a gun without an ejector. The trigger mechanism with one trigger allows you to fire from both barrels in the desired sequence. The firing sequence is changed by pulling the trigger from behind.
  • MP-27EM-1C(previously called IZH-27EM-1S) - a shotgun with a selector-type ejector - ejects only a spent cartridge case and, if necessary, can be turned off. The trigger mechanism with one trigger allows you to fire from both barrels in the desired sequence. The firing sequence is changed by pulling the trigger from behind.

Professional opinion

Anatoly Azarov, member of the Arsenal Association of Weapons Researchers: Structurally (precisely constructively) IZH-27 is a gun more than many imported analogues! Domestic designers-gunsmiths know their business. A word for the manufacturers. Marriages would be allowed less, and our IZH-27 guns, however, like the best models of other factories, are able to meet all the requirements of sports, fishing and ordinary hunting! It is also important that our IZH-27 and other models are several times cheaper. We must also take into account the great differences in hunting in our country and abroad. In Europe, mostly "park" hunting. We have difficult climatic conditions. The gun is operated both in heat and in frost ... It is delivered to the hunting place in difficult road conditions (off-road), sometimes in some kind of tractor trailer ... Cartridges are sometimes (forced) equipped with not quite suitable components, in previously used sleeves. Gunpowder is sometimes measured with a measure, since it is stupid to look for scales in any winter hut ... It is difficult to achieve a monotonous effort to seal the sleeve by hand.

Any gun goes to our hunting vast expanses, in difficult swamps or cluttered taiga. Many times you will thank the designers of IZH-27, unsuccessfully falling on a gun, tripping over the intertwining of roots or slipping on the icy slope of a ravine ... You get up, inspect the gun, shake it in the neck - “Thank God, everything is intact!” The neck did not break, saving a thick reliable coupling screw of the butt ... Delicate "foreign cars" can not stand it. Often, at the request of comrades, you have to cut butts that are new to them.

Hence the most important conclusion: not everything foreign is better. Not all. We must understand this and appreciate our own, domestic. So that it doesn’t work out according to the proverb: “We don’t store what we have, if we lose, we cry.”

Feedback from the owner IZH-27m (MR-27m)

I will long remember how my father cursed when the ejector did not grab the sleeve by the skirt, and it remained between the barrel and the ejector, how he cut the sleeve and then knocked it out with a ramrod. Needless to say, this happened at a wild boar hunt, when a large herd came out and went along the shooting line. The gun was saved from breaking on a tree trunk only by a miracle. Therefore, I will not exchange my 27m for any other model. Time has passed since the writing of this post, but after the discovery of duck hunting, the ejector spring in his IZH-27EM-1s flew out from his father. I had to remove the ejector bar (press on it and pick up the back part with a knife), buy a hardened spring separately and grind a pin that abuts against the ejector.

The device of the hunting rifle IZH-27M - MP-27M - The scheme increases when pressed. Further increase after the first one occurs by clicking the symbol in the corner of the image

The aiming bar on the gun is ventilated, in summer the phenomenon of a mirage from the heat is less pronounced. The weight of the gun is generally greater than that of imported models, so the gun is less loosened, and because of this, recoil is more compensated. The stock is quite thick, and thanks to this, when it fell on the weapon, I left it intact. Thin-bodied "foreigners" are more suitable for foreign "park" hunting.

And now a little tar. The quality of the chrome plating is terrible, after every hunt, when it's wet, the gun is covered with rust even before you get home. Therefore, he completely removed everything with VDeshka and covered it with his bluing. Helped a little. Internal chrome fell off completely after the first season on the duck. Fitting to each other of wooden and metal parts, to put it mildly, is weak. There were problems with the bed and the fact that it was wiped off and began to gain moisture. I restored the stock myself and did a water-repellent impregnation, after which the stock began to look very good, and there were no more problems. The only thing that did not arise and I hope there will be no problems — it's with the mechanics. Everything works like clockwork, with a minimum cleaning of the weapon after each hunt and a complete cleaning of smoothbore weapons after the end of the hunting season.

After a weekend and heavy firing with charges with an increased amount of shot (got on a pigeon hunt in a field of sunflowers), a shat appeared in a vertical plane. When you hold a gun by the butt, and sway the barrels. It was removed by banal tightening of the screw in the butt. I decided to still use the standard weight of gunpowder and shot. The weapon is good, but the manufacturers would be less likely to allow defects in the manufacture, which is growing and growing every year. If you have the opportunity to buy IZH-27M with a release date before 1991, and it will be in excellent condition - buy it! Neither you nor your children, who will inherit it with proper care, will not regret it. The quality of the guns that Izhmash produces today is, to put it mildly, unsatisfactory. Sometimes you just want to come to the factory and buy a gun from them so that you can choose one gun out of hundreds.

The opinion of an experienced hunter with experience:

Anatoly Gulyaev: Having acquired a gun, I began to look at it more meticulously and realized that how well its metal part was made, how poorly it was made of wood. Apparently, the manufacturers have forgotten the proverb: "The barrels shoot, but the stock hits."

How is the applicability of a gun determined? Closing his eyes, the hunter raises his gun, as if shooting, then opens them. And so several times. The gun is applied if the aiming bar is neither open nor closed, but is a narrow horizontal line with a clearly visible front sight.

For me, every time the gun was pulled up, which means that the withdrawal of the butt down was small. Further. Two side protrusions running along the top of the neck of the butt were clearly superfluous, increasing its thickness and making it difficult to reach the trigger. I carefully cut them off, the neck became oval, like in TOZ-34.

The forearm was of incredible thickness: if a person’s fingers are not long, then they can’t wrap around him. On the grinder, I removed a good centimeter of excess wood.

But what was to be done with the butt? I removed some wood from its crest, then began to insert linings under the butt plate, thereby changing the angle between it and the end of the butt. Having found what he needed personally for himself, making the gun fit, carefully, with a hacksaw for metal, trimmed the butt. Now the gun in my hands has become like a toy. However, I rejoiced...

I won’t talk about how difficult the transition from “horizontal” to “vertical” turned out to be, but I passed it. But the automatic fuse has let me down more than once. A wounded duck swims into the reeds, I, reloading the gun, press the trigger, but there is no shot. By the time I remember the reason, the duck is already in the reeds. But okay, the duck is not a big prey. What about fox hunting? What about a boar?

The godfather, who has a TOZ-34, did not have such a problem, the safety of the gun is not automatic. What to do? He took off the butt, began to study the mechanism of "automation". All the “fault” turned out to be a small engine, which, when the gun is closed, puts it on the fuse.

Of course, if I started hunting with IZH-27, I would get used to taking the safety off before firing with the thumb of my right hand. But is it easy to readjust after more than ten years of hunting practice? And I removed the engine. The hunt got better. But I was waiting for the opening of the season for foxes, hoping that now with such a gun I would significantly reduce their numbers.

The November day was beautiful: a slight frost, a light haze with a dim sun, and wind. While plowing in the remaining pile of straw, I noticed a sleeping fox and soon got close enough, even too close. Thirty meters to her, her heart is pounding in her chest, her hands are trembling. From this distance, it's not even worth raising her head, I decide, and I shoot the ball from the top barrel.

But, apparently, at the last moment, the hand trembled and strong accuracy played a negative role. The wounded fox rolled down from the shock and began to do such things ... Somehow I aim it again and press on the second descent. But instead of a shot, I hear a quiet click. Misfire! I break the gun and ... Misfire again. And the fox, recovering his senses and getting to his feet, at first slowly, then faster and faster began to leave.

I make a third attempt - and again a misfire. Seeing her with a wistful glance to a nearby log, I opened the gun and took out the cartridge. There is a slight dent on the capsule. I put a cartridge in the upper barrel, I press the trigger - a shot rumbles. What's the matter?

Returning home, I take off the butt and begin to study the operation of the percussion mechanism. It turns out that if the trigger of the upper barrel hits the striker with its top, then the lower one - in the middle. Hence, the impact force is less. In the cold, apparently, the oil froze and the impact was very weak. I cock the trigger and try to tighten the spring even more. There is free play, three millimeters.

I make a ring out of the wire of the required diameter, I press the spring with it. Then I remove the existing lubricant, using a more liquid one. Since then, for a quarter of a century, the gun has not misfired. Maybe the developers should have provided a stronger spring for this trigger?

The weight of my "Izhevka" is 3.4 kilograms. Of course, a bit too much for sea hunting. In search of foxes, bypassing fields, logs, you will sometimes catch a hare, which is why I carry a gun in my hands to be always ready to shoot. And by the end of the day it pulls on the "pood". It happens that in the evening you pick up a little mermaid, throw up a gun and from fatigue you cannot catch up with his trunks.

But, on the other hand, I understand that a heavy gun is a plus, it allows the use of reinforced charges, which is important when shooting from a long distance. And most often you have to shoot foxes in the fields in this way. Therefore, I am not going to change to a lighter one.

And a few critical words about the workers of Izhmash. As a quarter of a century ago, and now the butts on the guns do not stand up to criticism. My friend recently acquired an IZH-43 of the twentieth caliber;

I think that at home I would make it more beautiful and practical. Why not adopt the experience of the same Tula or foreign gunsmiths to the Izhevsk people and work on the shape of the butt?

Video of disassembly and assembly of MP-27M. There is nothing complicated about this, but for beginners and even for experienced hunters it will be useful to find out why all the little things in the gun were invented.

5.1. Removable trunks are located in a vertical plane, connected by means of a coupling and interbarrel straps. Muzzle constrictions provide stable accuracy of fire. The barrels of the gun are securely locked in the box by a locking bar. The locking unit is controlled using a lever located on top of the box. When the trunks are open, the locking lever is held by a delay of the locking bar, which automatically releases the lever when the trunks are closed.
5.2. The detachable forearm is secured with a lever-type latch.
5.3. In the IZH-27M gun, the cartridge cases are pulled out of the chambers by the ejector when the barrels are opened.
The IZH-27EM shotgun has an ejection mechanism that automatically ejects the spent cartridge case. The cartridge case is ejected from the barrel from which the shot was fired. If there was no shot, then the cartridge extends smoothly. If necessary, the ejection mechanism can be easily disabled by turning the uncoupler 32 (Fig. 5) by 90°, in which case the sleeves will slide out smoothly.
5.8. The trigger mechanism has an additional safety device (interceptors-interceptors of the triggers) to prevent a shot in the event of an accidental release of the triggers from the combat platoons without pressing the triggers.
5.9. Shotguns IZH-27M-1S and IZH-27EM-1S (Fig. 6), in contrast to the guns IZH-27M and IZH-27EM, have one trigger for firing in the sequence: lower barrel - upper barrel. If it is necessary to change the sequence of shots, push the trigger forward until it clicks: only two shots will change the order. Subsequent opening of the lock lever will restore the original sequence: lower barrel - upper barrel.
5.10. In connection with the constant work to improve the gun, which increases its reliability and improves operational properties, changes may be made to the design that are not reflected in this passport.

6. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

6.1. Any firearm, despite the presence of various safety devices in it, poses a known danger to the life and health of people if it is carelessly handled. Therefore, even if there are trigger interceptors in the gun, take all precautions and remember that neglecting safety rules can lead to tragic consequences.
6.2. Always consider the gun loaded and ready to fire.
6.3. Before doing anything with the gun (smooth triggering, cleaning, disassembling and screwing in and out of choke tubes, etc.), ALWAYS make sure that the gun is unloaded.
6.4. For shotguns with interchangeable choke tubes, follow these guidelines:
- make the final screwing of the nozzle with a special key applied to the gun. A correctly installed nozzle should be flush or slightly recessed relative to the muzzle of the barrel;
- inspect the bore. In this case, a ring should be visible in the place where the surface of the bore protrudes above the surface of the nozzle. Violation of the integrity of the ring indicates mechanical damage to the nozzle (bruising, bending of the edges) or the seat in the barrel. In this case, when shooting, the nozzle or gun may be damaged;
- remember that nozzles and seats for them require careful handling in order to prevent accidental deformation of thin-walled sections. Unnecessarily, do not leave the barrels without screwed nozzles.
6.5. Do not fire shotgun cartridges with loads larger than those recommended on the factory powder packaging, or a mixture of smoke and smokeless powder.
6.6. Do not fire cartridges and gunpowder that have been stored for more than 4 years.
6.7. It is strictly forbidden to use any non-hunting powders, as this can lead to swelling or rupture of the barrels.
6.8. It is forbidden to compress a charge of smokeless hunting powder.
6.9. Do not fire a bullet whose body diameter is larger than the diameter of the bore in the choke area.
The diameter of a round bullet should be 0.2-0.3 mm less than the diameter of the choke.
The diameter of a bullet with external ribs should be 0.1-0.2 mm less than the diameter of the barrel bore, and the diameter of the body of such a bullet should be 0.8-1.0 mm less than the diameter of the channel at the exit (choke).
6.10. Do not put much effort on the trigger to avoid breakages, but cock the hammers again with a full opening of the barrels if, as a result of the fall of the gun, the cocked hammer lingered on the interceptor.
6.11. Inspect the barrels of the gun before loading: are they clogged with snow, mud, forest debris. Shooting a gun with clogged bores can cause the barrels to swell and even burst.
6-12. Keep an eye on the quality of your ammo load to avoid getting local, so-called "pea-shaped" blow-ups. Fasten carefully the cardboard lining of the shot shell when using metal shells, use paper shells only once, do not reload
finished cartridges so as not to soften the ends of the cartridge cases. It is recommended that after firing from the lower barrel (if no shot was fired from the upper barrel), the cartridge that was in the upper barrel should be placed in the lower barrel, and the next cartridge - in the upper barrel.

7. MAINTENANCE

7.1. Proper handling and timely maintenance increases the service life and guarantees its reliable operation. You should not, if not necessary, completely disassemble the gun.
7.2. To ensure the necessary care (cleaning, lubrication, inspection), the shotgun is not completely disassembled: the barrels, the forend with a hinge and the box with the butt are separated.
7.3. When completely disassembling and assembling the gun, it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions of this passport.
7.4. Disassembly order:
7.4.1. To separate the butt, you must:
1) unscrew the screws and remove the back of the butt;
2) unscrew the screw securing the safety bracket to the butt, and turning the bracket counterclockwise, separate it from the larva;
3) unscrew the screw passing through the buttstock to the back of the buttstock, with light blows of the box on a wooden object, slightly loosen the connection between the buttstock and the box and then carefully remove the buttstock. After separation of the butt, the mechanisms become available for inspection, cleaning and lubrication. In guns with overhead decorative boards, separate the butt from the box after removing the boards, for which it is necessary to unscrew the screws that fasten the boards to the box and the butt.
7.4.2. To disassemble the trigger mechanism, you must:
1) cock the hammers, insert pieces of wire or nails with a diameter of 1-1.5 mm into the hole on each rod of the mainspring (the hole on the rod with the cocked hammers is aligned with the notch on the jumper connecting the shanks of the box and the larva), pull the triggers and remove the combat rods springs with springs;
2) knock out the axis of the triggers and sear using a drift, remove the triggers and sear;
3) remove the parts of the fuse, for which knock out the pin that supports the spring;
4) unscrew the lower screw of the larva and the rear tail screw, remove the jumper. Separate the larva with light hammer blows on the brass or copper rod inserted into the hole for the safety bracket, while the larva must be moved back.
7.4.3. To disassemble the locking mechanism, you must:
1) knock out the striker pins, remove the strikers with springs and unscrew the screw connecting the locking lever to the axle;
2) knock down the axis of the locking lever with a return spring with hammer blows using a copper or brass rod and remove the locking plate.
7.4.4. To disassemble the ejection mechanism, you must:
1) knock out the cocking axles and remove the cocking cranks, remove the uncoupler, for which purpose install them with splines at an angle of 45 ° to the gun axis, insert a screwdriver or punch into the hole for the pusher and push the uncoupler up; remove the spring retainer. If necessary, the disconnector can be removed without disassembling the box. To do this, install the slot of the disconnector at an angle of 45 ° to the axis of the gun, cock and then pull the trigger, while the pusher will push the disconnector out of the box;
2) separate the ejector by pressing its front end from the barrels, after which it will come out of the groove under the action of the spring. To prevent loss of the ejector, it must be held.
7.5. Further disassembly of the mechanisms is simple and does not require much explanation. When disassembling, do not confuse the parts of the right and left sides.
7.6. The gun is assembled in the reverse order:
7.6.1. The connection of the butt with the box must be strong, without the slightest pitching. To ensure the correct fit of the butt, it is recommended, after tightening the screw, with light blows of the screwdriver handle on the side surfaces of the butt head, to settle them against the corresponding surfaces of the box and then tighten the screw to failure.
7.6.2. Before setting the forearm, it is recommended to lower both cockers down (if they turned out to be raised), then, holding the gun with the left hand by the barrels, put the forearm on the lower barrel with your right hand and bring the cylindrical part of the hinge to full contact with the corresponding surface of the box. In a new gun, the forearm latch under the action of the spring may not reach its original position, bring it by hand.

8. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE AND CARE OF THE GUN

8.1. The service life and trouble-free operation of the gun largely depend on the skillful and careful handling of it.
8.2. The gun should always be cleaned and lightly oiled. Particular attention should be paid to the cleanliness and lubrication of the barrels, the junction of the hinge with the box, the hinge axis and the corresponding socket on the barrel coupling, the rubbing points of the barrel and the box, and the parts of the firing mechanism.
8.3. Chrome-plated bores and barrel chambers make it much easier to care for them, but this does not preclude regular and thorough cleaning.
8.4. Use soft clean rags, tow, linen tow, cotton ends for cleaning.
8.5. The wiping material must be free of sand and dust. Clean immediately after shooting, and in winter, the gun should be indoors for several hours before cleaning. When cleaning the gun, disassemble, remove the barrels, wipe the barrel channels from the side of the chamber.
8.6. Separate the barrels from the box and pull the triggers to avoid replanting the ejector springs and mainsprings. Store your gun in a dry place.
8.7. Do not shoot from a gun with primers alone without powder, as the products of combustion of the explosive mixture of primers spoil the bores.
8.8. Do not use cartridges that are tight in the chambers: they require a lot of effort when closing and opening the gun.
8.9. Open and close the gun smoothly with both hands. Rapid opening and closing of the barrels can lead to premature loosening of the barrels with the box.
8.10. Do not idle the triggers, this reduces the survivability of the strikers, their springs and pins, which fasten the strikers, as well as parts of the ejection mechanism. If you need to simulate a shot, insert cartridge cases with used primers into the chambers.
8.11. Do not hit the barrels of the gun - this can lead to dents.
8.12. If sparkles of lead are noticed during the last tight rubbing, then there is lead in the barrel. You can remove it with a brush made of soft steel or copper wire, screwed onto a ramrod and thickly lubricated with gun grease.
8.13. The screw that secures the butt to the box during the shooting process, especially during the initial period of operation of the gun, periodically tighten so that there is no pitching of the butt.
8.14. The separation of the forearm in guns with an ejection mechanism, in order to avoid deformation of the sear of the ejectors, should be done smoothly by turning it around the radius part of the box adjacent to the hinge.

9. ACCEPTANCE CERTIFICATE

The double-barreled hunting gun IZH-27M of c_______________ caliber complies with TU 3-3.663-80, GOST R 50529-93, the methodology of the ECC of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, the forensic requirements of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and is recognized as fit for operation.

The double-barreled hunting gun IZH-27M is certified for compliance with safety requirements.

Earlier on this topic:

The domestic Izhevsk Mechanical Plant throughout its history has produced many different models of guns. They are enjoyed by hunters, athletes and just gun lovers.

Among all the variety, the IZH-27 model stands out, which rightfully bears the name of the people. This gun and its modifications became the best-selling first in the USSR, and then in Russia. What is the popularity of this vertical?

History of creation and design features of the model

At the end of the 60s, the specialists of the IMZ (Izhevsk Mechanical Plant) decided on the need for modernization, which was then produced, due to the presence of certain shortcomings.

This task was entrusted to a group of designers led by the famous gunsmith Anatoly Andreevich Klimov.

The result of this was, provided by him in 1971, a modified model, which later received the designation IZH-27 (in the modern classification MP-27). Production of the gun on a serial basis began in 1973.

The location of the trunks in the vertical plane remained unchanged. The first to be affected by the changes were the stock with the forearm. Their shape has become more comfortable and ergonomic.

The aiming bar received ventilation holes, which reduced the difficulty in aiming after a shot, especially in hot weather, due to more efficient cooling. The manual safety was replaced with an automatic one. In addition, the designers installed spoilers (devices for intercepting triggers).

For the first time in the history of the plant, the gun received an ejector for cartridge cases. For ease of use and maintenance, the box has also undergone a change - the place of its connection with the stock has undergone modifications. The butt plate, made of rubber and mounted on the butt, made the gun even more comfortable.

Description and performance characteristics

The number of IZH-27 units produced to date since the beginning of its production is more than 1.6 million.

There are both serial models and souvenir ones, executed in a single copy. Among the first are guns of common calibers - 12 and 16. The weight of such models is up to 3.4 kg and 3.3 kg, respectively.

Limited edition, custom or souvenir shotguns, in addition to the numbers listed, may be 20 gauge or use the .410 cartridge. The rest of the options are listed below:

  • Barrel length - from 675mm to 750mm;
  • The length of the chambers - 76mm or 70mm;
  • Chock (narrowing) - 0.5mm and 1mm, lower and upper trunk, respectively.

The inside of the barrels is covered with ordinary chrome, the outside is black (oxidation is also used).

The barrels themselves began to be made from gun steel. The fastening of the barrels to the body of the gun is organized using a hinged mechanism and special hooks.

The increased length of the strikers allows the use of hunting ammunition with a recessed primer.

The locking frame enters a special groove, which is how the locking itself is carried out. When the barrels are opened, the triggers self-cock.
The design features of the trigger mechanism, after closing the trunks, provide a smooth and soft descent of the triggers.

The automatic fuse installed in the IZH-27 prevents the possibility of an unplanned shot by blocking the sear.
This is especially important in the event of a weapon being dropped or, for example, strongly shaking. The gun is equipped with a standard cartridge case extractor.

In some of the models, it is replaced by a selective type ejector, that is, only spent cartridges are ejected, and if only one barrel is fired, the whole cartridge remains in place.

Such a system has a positive effect on the speed of reloading the gun. If desired, the ejector is turned off.
Initially, the design of the IZH-27 provided for the presence of two triggers.

4 years after the start of production of the standard model, a modification was released with one. Shots in this case are fired in turn, and the gun is equipped with a switch that changes the sequence of barrels. Leaving the factory, such a weapon provides for the use of the lower barrel first, then the upper one.

However, using the switch takes a certain amount of time and creates an unnecessary noise (click) that can frighten away the beast. For these reasons, hunters have an ambiguous attitude to the system of changing the order of trunks.

The material for the stock is either beech or walnut.

Any of the models supports the use of Magnum cartridges (case length 76 mm, versus 70 for the usual one) of the corresponding caliber. Given the power of these ammunition, the IZH-27 design has an increased margin of safety.

Recently, all produced variations of the 12-gauge and 20-gauge guns are designed specifically for the use of powerful cartridges.

The version under .410 was originally designed to be reinforced. This model is very rare - it can be found mainly only among collectors and special hunters.

Varieties of IZH-27

The gun has several modifications. Of these, the series included:

  • MP-27 "Baikal" - under this designation, the original version of the gun has been released since 2009. The changes affected the materials of manufacture and the quality of the parts;
  • IZH-27M (modern designation MP-27M) - the weapon is equipped with a conventional cartridge case extractor and a pair of triggers;
  • IZH-27EM (modern designation MP-27EM) - in this case, the extractor was replaced with a selective ejector, a device that ejects spent cartridges when the barrels are opened. There is an option to turn it off if not needed. Like the previous model, the gun has two triggers;
  • IZH-27M-1S (modern designation MP-27M-1S) - a shotgun with a conventional cartridge case extractor. Equipped with only one trigger, allowing sequential fire from different barrels. The sequence is switched by pressing the trigger from the back;
  • IZH-27EM-1S (modern designation MP27-EM-1C) - the weapon is equipped with both a selective ejector and one trigger. The change in the order of the trunks used is identical to the model described above;
  • IZH-27M "Junior" (modern designation MP-27M "Junior") is a light version of the first modification. Reduced caliber, reduced barrel and butt length. At the same time, the model has all the advantages of a "senior comrade". Designed for use by short hunters, women and inexperienced hunters;
  • IZH-27ST is a modification of the original shotgun, designed for sports trap shooting (trench). It was distinguished by the design of the barrels - full and reinforced chokes (upper and lower barrels, respectively). The model had the longest barrels in the series - 760mm. Not currently in production;
  • IZH-27SK is another sports modification, this time for a round stand. The length of the barrels in this model is 660mm (cylinder and cylinder with a bell - upper and lower choke respectively);
  • IZH-27 "Sporting" is one of the latest models of IZH-27. Its use is not limited to one type of activity. It can be used both for hunting and for sports.

In addition to these modifications, there are also exclusive models, such as "Rus".

They are made by hand, which, of course, is reflected in their quality and price. The cost of such guns is about 3 times more expensive than serial models.

Exclusive IZH-27 or its modification can be recognized by the silver finish and engraving.

Burning of barrels is carried out according to a special technique, which seriously increases both the aesthetic appearance of the gun and its operational life.

In addition, more durable materials are used for the manufacture of the mechanism. One of the happy owners of "Rus" is Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, who was given this weapon when visiting the factory.

The use of IZH-27 and its modifications

The main application of the IZH-27 family of rifles is hunting. Depending on the caliber used and the type of cartridges (bullets, shot, buckshot), it is effective against almost any animal or bird.

Hunters use the 27th IL when hunting artiodactyls, fox, hare, waterfowl. It is also effective against bears or wolves.

Even sports modifications are often used as the main weapon. For example, IZH-27-ST is effective against foxes or hares, when lifting ducks or geese.

In the latter case, it is desirable that the distance does not exceed 50m. But with the SK model, the game will need to be approached at least 25 meters away, which imposes some inconvenience.

The advantages of IZH-27 over foreign analogues are its unpretentiousness.

The gun is ideally adapted to the Russian climatic conditions and, importantly, the roads - shaking and transportation in an improper form have practically no effect on the weapon.

It is also tolerant to cartridges, which is especially important in their manufacture (stuffing) in field conditions (use of used cartridge cases, inappropriate amount of gunpowder, homemade shot or buckshot).

Among hunters, there are practically no complaints about the manufacture of metal parts. Problems happen mainly with wooden parts. Therefore, when buying, you should carefully inspect the weapon and pay attention to these details.

Influence on other weapons

In addition to the fact that the IZH-27 is the most purchased hunting weapon in the country, it still managed to influence other developments of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant. The first were shotguns for sports shooting IZH-25 and IZH-29 (now no longer produced). They were developed on the basis of the 25th model.

In addition, the design solutions used in the design and modification of the 27th were used to create the MP-221 Artemis rifle-fitting rifle.

Also on the basis of Baikal, the MP-94 Taiga gun was created, which is a hammerless vertical shotgun with smooth and rifled barrels in the kit.

The latter weapon is considered universal due to the possibility of using a variety of barrels (smoothbore, rifled) for various types of cartridges from 12 rifle caliber to rifle 7.62 * 54mm.

Outcome

The domestic double-barreled shotgun with a vertical arrangement of trunks IZH-27 is not in vain the most purchased gun.

Its impressive reliability and ease of use have made it a favorite among hunters.

In addition, the weapon has excellent indicators of accuracy and accuracy when firing shot and buckshot. Its versatility allows you to use the 27th when hunting a wide variety of animals.

The vertical, of course, has certain disadvantages, however, proper care and compliance with safety regulations will allow this gun to serve its owner for many years.
