Hunting rifles izh. Smooth-bore hunting rifles of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant TTX guns Izh

IZH-27 is a Soviet double-barreled hunting rifle designed for commercial and amateur hunting. IZH-27 was developed under the leadership of A. A. Klimov and has been mass-produced since 1973.

Starting with the development of two models - a single-barreled gun of the Kazansky (ZK) system and a double-barreled IZH-49, Izhmekh specialists created a full range of hunting weapons. Products at that time were marked with the designation "IZH" in combination with numbers that indicated the year of manufacture, for example, IZH-49, IZH-54, IZH-56, etc. Subsequently, in the 60s, the numbers in the marking of guns began to mean the project number, for example, IZH-18, IZH-25, IZH-27.

With the wider distribution of weapons in the foreign market, it became necessary to abandon the designation "IZH". This is due to the fact that the abbreviation "IZH" is inconvenient to transcribe. It was necessary to choose a designation containing the semantic content of product labeling, while the designation should have the same graphics and sound in Cyrillic and Latin.

In the 90s, when developing new weapon models, they decided to label products with the abbreviation MP in Latin, which means Mehanical Plant. Since that time, this marking has been assigned to all new weapons developments of Izhmekh. Until 2008, the previous models of weapons remained with the old designation "IZH". In order to establish a single model in the designations of weapons produced by the enterprise, the plant replaced the designation "IZH" with the marking MR, i.e., for example, on guns instead of IZH-18, IZH-27, IZH-43 there will be MP-18, MR -27, MP-43, etc. The digital designation on models produced before 1996 remained the same, and since September 2008, the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant switched to marking weapons with the designation "MR".

One of the most common types of weapons is the MP-27, a double-barreled hunting rifle with a vertical arrangement of trunks - the most popular gun of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant.

This model was preceded by the IZH-59 Sputnik and IZH-12 guns developed by Anatoly Andreevich Klimov.

IZH-12 is the first "vertical" that has become widespread in the Soviet Union and won the appreciation of hunters for its reliability and unpretentiousness. In the early 70s, a group of designers (N.V. Repin, A.A. Klimov, G.Ya. Protopopov) upgraded the IZH-12 gun. The following innovations were made to this model: they changed the shape of the stock and forearm; instead of the usual one, they made a ventilated aiming bar; the fuse was made automatic, adding for reliability interceptors (interceptors of triggers); installed an ejector; changed the shape of the box at the points of its connection with the box; a rubber recoil pad was installed on the butt.

The new model received the index IZH-27 (MR-27). The MP-27 over/under hunting rifle is available in various calibers and is a classic hunting weapon.

The series includes guns of the 12th, 16th and 20th calibers. The weight of the guns is from 3.1 to 3.65 kg, depending on the length of the barrel and caliber, the length of the barrels is 660-750 mm. Muzzle narrowing - permanent or replaceable. The barrels have a front sight and a ventilated aiming bar. The barrel channels and the chamber are chrome-plated, the outer surface is oxidized. The connection of the trunks with the block is carried out due to the underbarrel hooks and the hinge axis. Locking occurs with the help of a striker plate included in the groove of the rear grenade hook. When the barrels are opened, the hammers are cocked. The trigger mechanism allows the triggers to be smoothly released from the cocking when the barrels are closed. The automatic fuse has trigger interceptors and locks the sear. The sleeves are removed from the chamber by an extractor.

Modifications of the MP-27 gun

Over four decades of mass production of the MP-27, a whole family of models has grown on its basis: with an ejector and a single trigger mechanism (MP-27EM, MP-27M-1C, MP-27EM-1C), sporting guns (MP-39, MP-39E, MP-27EM-1S by Sporting), combined shotguns (MP-94 and MP-94 Sever), double-barreled rifled gun (IZH-94 by Express), MP-27M by Junior and etc.

The gun is produced in serial, including export, piece and souvenir versions in several different modifications:

MP-27M (previously called IZH-27M)- a gun without an ejector, with two triggers. MP-27M with an interchangeable block of barrels with oval screw drilling is a universal smoothbore gun.

Equipped with a 12/76 caliber barrel block and an interchangeable barrel block with oval helical drilling (Lancaster drilling), the gun is ideal for hunting big game. Due to the additional stabilization of the bullet by rotation, obtained due to oval-screw drilling, the gun provides a guaranteed bullet hit in the kill zone at distances up to 100 m with bullet cartridges (with bullets "Brenneke", "Gualandi"). This ensures acceptable characteristics of the scree when firing shots. The design of the interchangeable barrel block provides the ability to adjust the position of the dispersion centers of both barrels. The interchangeable barrel unit is equipped with an open sight, adjustable horizontally and vertically. It is possible to install an optical sight.

MP-27M "Junior"- light and compact modification of the basic model.

The gun is aimed at women and teenagers, so the main dimensions of the buttstock have been changed relative to the basic ones, taking into account the physical data of this group of users. A lightweight bolt box, the dimensions of which are adapted to small calibers, barrels of reduced length, and the presence of a shock absorber nape make the gun very comfortable in operation and during sea hunting.

MP-27EM (previously called IZH-27EM)- a shotgun with a selective type ejector - ejects only a spent cartridge case and, if necessary, can be turned off.

Has two triggers. The modification of the MP-27EM shotgun is equipped with an ejector that ejects only the spent cartridge case. If necessary, the owner of the gun can turn off the ejector in the field without disassembling it and without using a special tool. The gun is indispensable for various types of hunting that require quick reloading. In the photo - with interchangeable barrels 720 and 660 mm.

MR-27M-1S (previously called IZH-27M-1S)- a gun without an ejector.

The trigger mechanism with one trigger allows you to fire from both barrels in the desired sequence. The firing sequence is changed by pulling the trigger from behind.

In the MP-27E-1C model, an original solution is implemented: switching the sequence of shots from a constant “lower barrel - upper barrel” sequence to the reverse one by pressing the trigger forward. This ensures ease and speed of switching, logical manipulation.

MP-27EM-1C (previously called IZH-27EM-1C) - a shotgun with a selector-type ejector - ejects only a spent cartridge case and, if necessary, can be turned off. The trigger mechanism with one trigger allows you to fire from both barrels in the desired sequence. The firing sequence is changed by pulling the trigger from behind.

Piece guns MP-27

Along with mass-produced products, factory craftsmen manufacture guns according to individual orders of consumers, create excellent examples of highly artistic weapons: unique piece guns with artistic engraving of the Classic, Prestige, Deluxe, Exclusive, Collectible classes.

The build quality and fit of the guns are very high. They are practically devoid of the shortcomings of serial models. Excellent bluing of barrels, improved balance, improved locking mechanism with a carbide insert. Smoother fuse travel. The stock and forearm fit perfectly.

The assembly of each gun is carried out by one fitter, who carefully and accurately adjusts all the details, manually adjusts and laps, which ensures high reliability of the mechanisms.

Fitting the stock to the anthropometric parameters of any person (left, right stock, cheek protrusion, different stock lengths, etc.) is done manually. It is possible to arrange MP-27 guns with two pairs of barrels: - 1st pair - standard, length 720-750 mm, choke, pay. Muzzle narrowing 0.5; 1.0 mm. - 2nd pair - length 675 mm; cylinder barrels.

Separate guns MP-27 caliber 12x76 are equipped with an additional block of barrels with Lancaster drilling 20 caliber with a chamber length of 76 mm. On the guns, at the request of the customer, it is possible to perform any decoration or inscription using hand engraving, precious metals, artistic painting. Engraving compositions are performed in a wide variety of techniques - armor engraving, notching and notching of precious metals and their alloys, creating a unique range typical for the style of weapon engraving of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant.

The engraving is complemented by decorative carvings on the stock and fore-end. To cover metal parts, in addition to traditional oxidation, silver plating, nickel plating, titanium nitride coating can be used. Custom-made guns meet the requirements of the most sophisticated connoisseurs of fine weapons.

What to look for when buying IZH-27 (MR-27)

  1. Pay attention to the soldering of the trunks. If a white coating is visible from under the connecting bar, then it is better to leave such a gun in the store. Very soon the connecting bar will depart from him.
  2. Pay attention to the muzzle of the trunks. They should be perfectly round and the same thickness. There should be no difference in size and exhortations of sellers: “they are all like that” should not be.
  3. Pay attention to the chrome in the barrels - it should cover the barrels completely, and there should be no spots on it.
  4. The plank should be perfectly flat, there should not be any recesses or bulges.
  5. The fly should be exactly in the middle of the bar. The trunks must be perfectly straight, the rings in the trunks are even and completely coaxial. It happens that even by eye it can be seen that the barrel is taken to the side. This is especially worth paying attention to.
  6. When shaking the gun, nothing should hang or rattle in it.
  7. The gun should normally be assembled and disassembled. There are new guns that need to be closed almost on the knee.
  8. Among the available options, pay attention to the wood of the forearm and butt. Choose a gun with as close fitting wood and metal parts as possible.

The choice between TOZ-34 and IZH-27 (MR-27)

The choice between these guns is quite difficult, since both guns are completely popular and there are a lot of them on sale. The price range is about the same. Produced at the factories of our country for a very long time and successfully.

The first difference is the trunks. Traditionally, barrels in TOZ are considered better than in IZH-27. In Izhevka, the side bar often leaves, which indicates the initially worse soldering of the trunks.

The locking of the barrels on these two models is quite good and reliable, they have worked perfectly for many years. The helical mainsprings in IZH-27 (MR-27) practically do not break, but the curly springs in Tozovka are prone to failure, so it is advisable to have a spare set of springs at home. Also, the firing pin cocking levers often fail.

In the removable handguard IZH-27 (MR-27) there are breakages or cracks in the tree. The fixed handguard in the TOZ is devoid of these shortcomings.

In terms of manufacturability, we can unequivocally say that the quality of the barrels in the TOZ-34 is better, and the IZH-27 has a more reliable mechanism.

One of the main differences between guns is their different weight: the IZH-27 gun is heavier than its Tula counterpart. Therefore, TOZ is more applied, it is preferable for running hunts, where in the evening the gun begins to weigh a pood. The benefit of a heavy gun is the ability to fire powerful rounds and less recoil at the expense of weight. Shots from a heavy gun tire the shooter less. It's no secret that now many domestic guns are defective. When choosing Soviet-made guns, you should pay attention to the wear of the guns.

In TOZ systems, where for disassembly it was necessary to remove the lever and at the same time press the trigger, very often the mechanisms are already practically broken.

Conclusion: the guns are about the same in quality. You need to choose from hunting methods and applicability for you personally.

Storage and care of the gun IZH-27 (MR-27)

The gun must be stored in a dry place. When storing a gun, the hammers must be lowered, the barrels separated. The gun lock must also be released. To do this, click on the small dog inside the trunk landing nest. All parts must be lubricated: barrels, block, forearm and hinge pins. As planned, barrel chrome was supposed to make them easier to care for, but it often falls off after the first shots.

It is necessary to clean the barrels after each hunt in which at least one shot has been fired. This will save you from a rash in the trunks. With a large soot, the trunks can be washed in warm water, and then wiped dry with a rag. If there is a sheen of lead in the barrels, it is necessary to remove the lead with a soft copper brush. When a shat appears, it is necessary to tighten the clamping screw, which is located in the butt, from time to time. To do this, you must first remove the shock absorber by unscrewing the two screws. If, when falling, the strikers are detained on the interceptor, it is not necessary to press the triggers strongly, the removal of the strikers is carried out by fully opening and closing the barrels. You can not click idle, without the presence of cartridges in the barrels. This reduces the life of strikers, pins and springs. If it is necessary to release the triggers, already fired cartridges must be inserted. When disassembling the gun, trigger release can be achieved by retracting the lever to the side with the triggers clamped. Open and close the gun smoothly with both hands. This will protect the gun from shat.

The round bullet should be 0.2 or 0.3 millimeters smaller than the muzzle of the barrels.

The diameter of a bullet with a belt should be 0.8-1 mm smaller than the muzzle. The belts can be 0.5-1 mm larger than the muzzle. To check a bullet with belts, it is necessary to release it into vertically standing barrels. Under its own weight, it should stop at a distance of 1-2 centimeters from the muzzle. It is better not to shoot cartridges with higher weights of powder than recommended by the manufacturer. It is also better to avoid shooting with old cartridges, it is better to reload them.

Feedback from the owner IZH-27M (MR-27M)

  • The aiming bar on the gun is ventilated, in summer the phenomenon of a mirage from the heat is less pronounced.
  • The weight of the gun is generally greater than that of imported models, so the gun is less loosened, and because of this, recoil is more compensated.
  • The stock is quite thick, and thanks to this, when it falls on the weapon, it remains intact. Thin-bodied "foreigners" are more suitable for foreign "park" hunting.
  • The quality of the chrome plating is terrible, after every hunt, when it's wet, the gun is covered with rust even before you get home.
  • Fitting to each other of wooden and metal parts, to put it mildly, is weak. There are problems with the bed and the fact that it wipes off and begins to gain moisture. You can restore the stock yourself and make a water-repellent impregnation, after which the stock will look very good, and there will be no more problems.
  • The only thing with which there will be no problems is with the mechanics. Everything works like clockwork, with a minimum cleaning of the weapon after each hunt and a complete cleaning of smoothbore weapons after the end of the hunting season.
  • After firing charges with an increased amount of shot, a shat appears in a vertical plane. When you hold the gun by the butt, and sway the barrels. It is removed by banal tightening of the screw in the butt. But this is written in the passport that it is necessary to tighten the fixing screw from time to time. It is still necessary to use a standard sample of gunpowder and shot.

Conclusion

The weapon is good, but the manufacturers would be less likely to allow defects in the manufacture, which is growing and growing every year. If you have the opportunity to buy an IZH-27M with a release date before 1991, and it will be in excellent condition - buy it! Neither you nor your children, who will inherit it with proper care, will not regret it.

The quality of the guns produced by IZHmekh today is, to put it mildly, unsatisfactory. Sometimes you just want to come to the factory and buy a gun from them so that you can choose one gun out of hundreds.

Video: TOZ-34 vs IZH-27 (MR-27)

The mechanical plant, which enjoys great and well-deserved popularity among beginners and professional hunters, of course, is the IZH-27M. For more than thirty years of history of this gun, more than one and a half million copies have been mass-produced. Design developments have reached the highest degree of reliability. The IZH-27M shotgun has stable action and excellent balance, and is also distinguished by its simplicity and reliability among its competitors. In terms of operational characteristics and technical capabilities, this hunting rifle is not inferior to the best world models.

New modification

The mass production of the IZH-27M model gun was launched in the distant 70s of the last century. The main developer is Anatoly Andreevich Klimov, who, as a result of the modernization of the first vertical IZH-12, managed to create a completely new modernized model IZH-27M.

Innovative Solutions

The Izhevsk gunsmiths made the following changes to their novelty:

  • a rubber recoil pad was installed on the butt;
  • the usual sighting bar has become a ventilation one;
  • the new model has an ejector;
  • the shape of the forearm and stock was changed;
  • adjustments were made at the junction of the box with the stock;
  • the barrel is made of high quality steel;
  • increased corrosion resistance of gun channels and the chamber is ensured by reliable chrome plating;
  • the locking unit has become simpler and more reliable;
  • shockless descent of the triggers is provided.

However, the most innovative change is the fuse. The new one received an automatic fuse. For the reliability of the gun, an interceptor (interceptor of triggers) was added. Accuracy of fire is also provided, if necessary, by interchangeable muzzle nozzles. The fore-end and buttstock are made of walnut and beech, which gives the sporting hunting rifle a special aesthetic appeal.

The best in Russia

Despite the rather high cost of the IZH-27M gun, the price of weapons of the sample until 1991 today is more than 60 thousand rubles, it is very popular among hunters. Manufacturers are especially proud of its recognition on the Russian market. In 2003, the model of the IZH-27M hunting sporting rifle became the winner of the 100 Best Goods of Russia award.

Security measures

When handling the IZH-27M gun, you should follow the safety rules that must be remembered.

  1. Even an unloaded gun should never be pointed at people.
  2. When handing over the gun to another person, you must make sure that the chamber is empty.
  3. During shooting, the butt must be pressed tightly to the shoulder. Do not shoot from two barrels at once.
  4. Turn off the fuse only before the shot, when the target is determined.
  5. When selecting a target, the finger rests on the safety guard, not the trigger.
  6. For confident shooting, use cartridges of only proven factory brands. Moreover, their shelf life should not exceed four years.
  7. In case of a misfire, do not take the gun to the side. It is possible that a “protracted” shot occurs due to a malfunction of the cartridge primer. Wait 2 minutes and unload the gun by pointing the muzzle and chamber away from you.
  8. If a change in the sound of a shot is determined by ear, then it is worth stopping shooting and cleaning the barrel channels of the gun.
  9. Shooting from a faulty IZH-27M rifle is prohibited.
  10. It is necessary to constantly carry out preventive work.

Shotgun IZH-27M: storage and care

The gun must be stored in a completely dry place. Any penetration of moisture can lead to oxidation and rust of metal parts and assemblies. The barrel must be separated from the gun. The triggers and locking locks must be in the deflated state. All gun parts, such as fore-end, barrel, pads, pivot pin, must be well lubricated. This is a prerequisite, since even with high-quality chrome plating of the parts of the gun, after the very first shots, it begins to crumble. With intensive use of weapons, carbon deposits always form in the inner surface of the barrel.

Therefore, before lubricating this nodal part of a hunting rifle, special attention must be paid. The inside of the trunk is washed with warm water and wiped dry. Lead residues are removed with a soft brush. Experienced hunters know that the pinch screw must be constantly tightened. Even a small amount of play can affect the quality of shooting.

In order for the gun to serve its owner as long as possible, you should not click the trigger when there is no cartridge in the barrels. It would be more correct if the spent cartridge case is in the chamber, only in this case it is possible to guarantee a minimum erasure of the key parts of the gun.

Specifications

All structural changes that were made in subsequent years in the development of new models of hunting weapons, to one degree or another, repeated the innovative solutions of the IZH-27M. Characteristics, both technical and dynamic, do not have significant differences from the base model. For example, the combined shotgun "Sever", produced in 1993, combined a rifled upper barrel under and a lower smooth barrel of the 20th caliber.

As you can see, the main design idea of the basic IZH-27M shotgun was retained. The characteristics of subsequent samples also did not change much. In 1995, a novelty appeared on the shelves of hunting shops, the IZH-94 model, which repeated the main idea of the 27th model.

The upper smooth barrel is 12-gauge, the lower rifled for various cartridges such as "magnum" or "winchester". It is worth noting that a year later, IZH-94 still received separate sighting of the trunks. A trigger mechanism of a new type was installed on the gun, which made it possible to trigger the trigger of the lower barrel with a shneller. This greatly improved the quality of shooting.

Basic characteristics of IZH-27M:

  • Barrel caliber, mm - 12, 16, 20.
  • The mass of the gun, kg - 3.2-3.4.
  • Barrel length IZH-27M, mm - 675-750.
  • Barrel channel diameter 12 gauge, mm - 18.2.
  • Barrel channel diameter 16 gauge, mm - 17.0.
  • Barrel channel diameter 20 caliber, mm - 15.5.
  • Chamber length, mm - 70 and 76.
  • Pistol stock, wood - beech, walnut.
  • Muzzle narrowing of the lower barrel, mm - 0.5 (pay).
  • Muzzle narrowing of the upper barrel, mm - 1.0 (choke).

Old is sometimes better than new.

Shotguns with a release date before 1991 are especially popular with hunting professionals. It was during that period that manufacturers allowed the least amount of marriage and technical deviations in the IZH-27 M model range. The price of such a gun is still high. Modern models, unfortunately, are significantly inferior in quality to the old and proven samples of Izhevsk gunsmiths. Today there is a very high demand for the IZH-27M gun, the price of some exclusive (piece) samples reaches 2-3 thousand conventional units.

Expensive hunting rifles. Prices and types of models

Every amateur or professional hunter wants to have in his arsenal a special, exclusive gun that would fully satisfy his interests and wishes. Unfortunately, our needs do not always coincide with our desires. It is known that world brands are far superior to the domestic manufacturer in terms of the quality of hunting and sporting weapons. Some hunting enthusiasts specifically collect exclusive hunting rifles, the prices for which are sometimes amazing. Here are some examples:

When choosing a good hunting rifle, the hunter must first of all familiarize himself with its basic characteristics. And, publications in which we consider the characteristics of the most popular guns among hunters can help him in this (more on). And, today we invite you to talk about the features of the guns IZH 15

Hunting rifles made by gunsmiths from Izhevsk have always enjoyed good reputation both in our country and far beyond its borders. They have always been distinguished by good fighting qualities, accuracy and sharpness of combat (find out), high reliability of all mechanisms, attractive appearance and relatively low cost. Well, why not the optimal combination of all characteristics and indicators? And, today we would like to dwell on a brief overview of some of the characteristics and features of Izhevsk hunting rifles - IZH-12, IZH-17 and IZH-18.

Today we would like to tell you about Izhevsk hunting rifles, about the features of the history of their release, and the main characteristics and advantages of such weapons. Such a short digression into the history of weapons will allow us to not only better understand guns, but also allow us to make the right choice when it comes to what kind of gun you need to buy (by the way, you can read about the main types of guns for hunting) ...

In the 60s of the last century, the gunsmiths of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant released a new model of the IZH-59 gun called Sputnik (you can read about other hunting rifles of the Izhevsk Arms Plant). This gun really could become an indispensable companion of a hunter-athlete, as it had excellent combat, both in terms of sharpness and accuracy. And, vertically arranged trunks and an increased aiming bar created exceptional convenience for aiming when firing quickly at moving targets. However, along with its advantages, the gun had a significant drawback, which was especially noticeable when shooting at a hunting shooting range. True, this drawback could be easily eliminated by using a small addition to the factory trigger, and it is this device that we want to tell you today ...

The idea to create a double-barreled bullet shotgun, which would have twin vertical barrels, belongs to such engineers as V.A. Kazansky and A.Ya. Zelenkov. It is noteworthy that at the same time the designer A.A. Klimov created a similar bullet shotgun, which was named IZH-56. About the gun itself, how it looks, and how it differs from other models of such a gun - our publication, which continues the review of hunting weapons, is ready to tell you.

Let's start with the history of creation hunting rifle IZH-5. In 1884-1885, the Izhevsk plant began to manufacture hunting rifles. It all started with the organization of a special exemplary hunting workshop, for which the best gunsmiths were recruited. The purchase of Belgian and other samples of hunting rifles served as the foundation for the formation of the factory and the beginning of the production of hunting rifles. The guns of the Izhevsk plant immediately became popular among hunters. And in 1885, the plant was allowed to accept, in private, orders for the manufacture of various types of hunting weapons. At first there was a small-scale production of hunting rifles. So, for example, the price list of the factory in 1902 shows that at that time the factory produced guns of various models and calibers, single-barreled and double-barreled shotguns and rifled guns. Special orders were received for valuable guns, such as, for example, guns designed to reward the commanding staff of the army. Such guns were made with a notch of silver and gold, with engraving. During the years of the formation of Soviet power, the gunsmiths of the Izhevsk plant in most cases produced hunting rifles, which were converted from rifles. During the indicated period of time, hunters were supplied mainly with guns of caliber 28 and 32. This is due to the fact that it was impossible to make guns of a different caliber from the foreign rifles that came to the Izhevsk plant for processing.

In this article, today we will focus on the wonderful, in my opinion, IZH-57 hunting rifle, which, despite its rather old age, is still very popular with hunters. History of origin. Back in 1957, under the leadership and with the personal participation of L.I. Pugachev, the development team of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant upgraded the hunting rifle, which was named IZH-57. This model was produced at that time in a small circulation - only 20.5 thousand guns, but the improvements made in this gun influenced the further development of hunting rifle designs in the USSR.
Technical characteristics of the hunting rifle IZH-57:
Caliber - 16;
Arrangement of trunks - horizontal with a length of 750 mm;
Barrel channel - 17.3 mm (nominal), and actual no more than 17.45;
Chambers - chrome-plated 20.6 x 0.70 cm;
Chokes:
- right muzzle - pay has 0.5 mm (with accuracy up to 35 meters - 50%);
- left muzzle - choke has 1.0 mm (with accuracy up to 35 meters - 60%);
The weight of the trunks is around 1.5 kilograms;
Weapon weight in the region of 3.2 kilograms;
The stock of a pistol, rifle form, is made of beech or walnut with a mandatory waterproof impregnation.
Combat capability - from 7 to 10 thousand shots.

Okhotniche 16, developed on the basis of the IZH 12 gun, is the result of the work of designer A.A. Klimov on the modification of IZH 59. In serial production, the IZH 16 model entered in 1962 and ten years later, in 1972, was discontinued. Now it is made to order. This double-barreled shotgun has a vertical arrangement of 16-gauge barrels, which is used both for sports shooting and for various types of hunting. Detachable barrels with a length of 720 mm have choke and choke. The inner surface of the barrels and the chamber channel is coated with chrome. The trigger mechanism located in the tail of the chamber, between the trigger mask, the chamber shank and the connecting tee, is called a frame. It has internal rebound hammers as well as two regular action triggers. Mechanism hunting rifle IZH 16 located partly in the box itself, and partly on a base attached to the box. Strikers with a return mechanism, which after a shot returns the triggers to a special safety platoon, works separately from the triggers. The triggers are equipped with spoilers that protect the IZH 16 hunting rifle from an accidental shot. Speaking of safety devices, it should be noted that the main non-automatic fuse, which locks the sear only when the triggers are cocked. Also, this fuse allows you to pull the trigger without a shot. There is no ejector, spent cartridges are ejected from the chamber by a common extractor.

Due to the variety of types of hunting that the nature of Russia provides, hunters always need combined guns. There is no need to list expensive models of foreign manufacturers and look for exclusive and rare models of domestic production, because the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant made a gun that attracted the attention of many with a combination of calibers and an affordable price. We will talk about the IZH-94 gun. Completely equipped with a double barrel. The upper one has a 12 gauge, and the lower one is chambered for 7.62x39, 51 and 54 mm cartridges. Barrels that are designed for a cartridge with a non-protruding rim have a special rod on the extractor that enters the flow hole of the sleeve. Muzzle narrowing ranges from 0.25 to 1.25 mm, although in general, commercially available shotguns have a muzzle narrowing of 0.5 mm with a barrel length of 600 mm, which are connected by sleeves and interbarrel straps. The clutch has a pressed-in rear sight, horizontally adjustable, and a front sight located on the barrel, as well as adjustable in height. Also, the IZH-94 hunting rifle has a dovetail mount designed for mounting optical sighting devices.

Refers to those guns that have two barrels with a vertical arrangement. The beloved Izhevsk Mechanical Plant was engaged in the design and production of this model.

As a rule, such weapons are made for amateur shooting at the stand and for hunting. It cannot be said that this gun is heard by many hunters, but it still has its fans.

If you study a little the history of the development of the plant, you will notice that quite often some new weapon with improved performance is first created, and then a certain copy with slight differences appears on its basis.

Thus, hunting rifle IZH-16 it is safe to attribute the origin of the IZH-12 hunting rifle, since they have much in common.

Here we can even say that the above gun was the main base for creating a new hunting weapon. It doesn't always work out that new models are as good as their predecessors, but here it worked.

When did the IZH-16 hunting rifle appear in mass production?

The Soviet Union was rich in various inventions and novelties in the field of hunting weapons. Constantly conducted testing, research and development of new models.

Within the same decade, you could see several new hunting rifles, which for the most part were getting better.

Sometimes you can just get confused about the dates of their creation, since some of them were even released in the same year.

According to the factory documents, this double-barreled shotgun began mass production in 1962, and ended its journey back in 1972.

Thus, for ten years, the plant has been steadily producing this model, which indicates its good fighting qualities and durability.

Characteristics of a double-barreled shotgun

  • The barrel has a chrome coating inside the channel and in the chambers, which already adds value to it.
  • The chokes are nothing different from the standard, so the right barrel has a choke, and the left one is narrowed to a half choke.
  • The sighting device consists of an aiming bar and a front sight at the end of the muzzle. This is quite enough to shoot quickly and accurately.
  • The chamber is made for a 70 mm sleeve, so it has the same length.
  • There is no ejector in the design, but there is an extractor that helps to throw out the cartridge cases from the chamber.
  • The hammers are located inside the receiver and are separate from the strikers, which makes it easy to replace the striker if it breaks. In addition, the mechanism has interceptors. They prevent the occurrence of an accidental shot.
  • The non-automatic fuse performs the locking function. This happens while the hammers are cocked. In addition, such a fuse allows you to pull the trigger without firing a shot.
  • The stock is made of walnut or beech, and the neck is straight or pistol-shaped.
  • The forearm has a special design and consists of two parts. One of them is constantly on the trunk, and the other is removed separately.
  • The weight of the gun is in the range from 3.1 kg to 3.25 kg.

conclusions

If a smoothbore weapon has been produced for a whole decade, then this is already a confirmation of its popularity and demand.

A high degree of safety, reliability, durability and decent accuracy of battle allow it to be used on any hunt.

The simple design and ease of maintenance make it possible to put the IZH-16 on a par with other hunting rifles of Russian gunsmiths, which have gained their fame among hunters.
