Xlamp XM-L vs. XM-L2 Cree Leds Datasheet Comparisons and Specifications. TangsFire C8 LED flashlight on the new CREE XM-L2 U3 LED Where XM-L T6 LEDs are used

Hello. My next review will be devoted to things that I am very partial to. Namely, we will talk about the TangsFire C8 LED flashlight on the new CREE XM-L2 U3 LED from the Tmart store.

This flashlight is provided by Tmart free of charge.

The design of this flashlight will be considered in great detail and of course you will see beam shots.

Briefly. The lantern is made of very high quality, gives a powerful, warm light. Only one point was found, which, in principle, is easy to fix. Well, in principle, you can leave it as it is. This is too insignificant.) To buy - I recommend.

If you are interested in this, then welcome under cat.

To begin with, not all flashlights are equally useful. Use better trusted stores. Because, while reading the reviews, and then, deciding to save money, I, a couple of times, bought flashlights not from the link from the review, but by finding cheaper ones on the Internet. As a result, I got lanterns with "stars" that touch the body only at the edges, well, there is no platform for heat removal under them. And also with a lot of other jambs, starting from crumbling buttons - ending ... But I will mention this in the review. Now I've become smarter.))) I can only say that this particular product can be safely purchased at Tmart. I cannot vouch for the quality of similar flashlights sold in other stores, given my bitter experience. So let's move on to the consideration of this product.

To get started, the specifications from the seller's website:

He came to me pretty quickly

Was packed in a standard yellow bag with pimples:

Package

And here is the lantern in front of me. There is no company name on the case, only the brand of the LED is applied:

Weigh:

Flashlight dimensions compared to a protected 18650 battery:

We proceed to the most interesting, to disassemble the lantern, in order to find out if everything is done normally.

We unscrew the tail in which the button is located. The button is not tactical:

Let's see what's inside her.

Everything is done perfectly. The parts fit together, no complaints.

We collect the button back and consider the body of the flashlight. And we will see a small flaw, which I spoke about at the very beginning. On the thread, on the side of the button, there is a rubber sealing ring of a slightly smaller diameter than it should be. This can be seen from the free space in the groove. When screwing the button, the sealing ring feels small:

And from the side of the “head” of the lantern, the sealing gum is already the same as it should be:

In principle, despite the insufficient thickness of the sealing ring, the lantern should not lose tightness, even in heavy rain. Today I got with him under this. Everything inside was dry. But if you, say, for example, drop a flashlight into the water, then I cannot guarantee that the water will not get inside, even if a little. But the gum is not difficult to replace, of course, maybe this is a feature of my flashlight instance. But I decided to leave it the way it is. Moreover, the house has a full-fledged underwater lamp. And the test of the downpour, as I already wrote, the flashlight withstood with dignity. From other stores, it used to come without o-rings at all, this is what I mentioned at the beginning, about the unequal usefulness of flashlights ...

Now let's move on to disassembling the "head".

We unscrew the "crown" and remove the glass. Glass is glass! Here is such a pun turned out. The glass is firmly sealed with a rubber seal in the crown.

We take out the reflector made of aluminum:

On the thread of the "head" of the lantern, where the "crown" is wound, there is also a rubber sealing ring:

Let's look inside the "head":

We unscrew the nut on the "pill":

And we get to the driver. I see this for the first time.)) The driver provides 5 modes of operation. Maximum, medium, minimum, fast strobe and SOS signal. Driver without memory, switching on starts from the maximum mode.

The "head" of the lantern is completely disassembled. There is absolutely nothing to complain about. The star with the LED is glued to the base with hot glue. Smooth and neat.
We collect the lantern back. At the same time, having missed the threads and rubber seals with silicone grease. Initially, she was absent.

However, it is not enough in any lanterns and is initially. So I don't see it as a disadvantage.

All carvings are made very carefully. Shavings and sharp edges do not have. All parts of the lantern are mated tightly and without backlash. This is a big plus.

Finished with disassembly of the lantern. Let's move on to measuring currents.

Maximum mode:

Medium mode:

Minimum mode:

Let's move on to testing the lights.

The testing involved 4 flashlights that came to my hand not from “zooms”:

1. TangsFire C8 on CREE XM-L2 U3 LED (the hero of our review from the Tmart store).
2. G20 Gryphon bright beam on CREE XM-L T6 LED
3. Fenix TK21 on CREE XM-L U2 LED
4. UltraFire S6 on CREE XP-E Q5 LED

All lights are powered by 1 18650 battery.

Beamshots were shot once, no takes. In the morning it drizzled lightly and did not want to wet the SLR. Therefore, as it is. They give a sufficient idea of the brightness of the glow of the lanterns. Although they look darker than in reality. If there was time, then it would be possible to play around with the aperture-exposure (for the "fifty kopecks" I shot beam shots for the first time), but after the first take it started to rain. But the flashlight will repeatedly participate in flashlights and the review will be supplemented in the future.

So, shooting parameters: ISO 200, shutter speed 1 second, aperture 8. The distance to the fence is about 30 meters:

Now let's evaluate the hotspots and side illumination of the lanterns. The camera parameters are the same, the distance from the lamp to the wall is 2 meters:

Well, the results. The TangsFire C8 flashlight provided by Tmart is the brightest flashlight in this review. And the brightest of the non-zooms I have. It also gives the warmest light available. Therefore, it does not distort the color reproduction at all. In the light of a lantern, all objects have a natural color.

I really liked the lantern. It will probably become my everyday flashlight. I love it when it shines brightly.))) Therefore, I sincerely recommend it! A well-made flashlight with a modern LED. Very good value for money. On this, let me say goodbye, to be continued ...

Cree, which produces the XM-L T6 LED, is one of the leading manufacturers of lighting products. Unfortunately, she does not have an official website in Russia, so there is little information about these products. The T6 LED has very good technical characteristics, therefore it is actively used by various manufacturers of lighting devices. In most cases, the following products are made on the basis of these diodes:

  • battery-powered flashlights;
  • lamps for vehicles;
  • LED beams for ambulances, police and other special equipment;
  • marker lights, headlights with dipped and main beam.

Main technical characteristics

A distinctive feature of Cree T6 LED branded diodes is a green heat-dissipating substrate, on which there is a 5 × 5 mm crystal. The body is hemispherical, made of transparent heat-resistant plastic, 3.2 mm in height provides an irradiation angle of 125 ̊, operating current 700 mA, voltage 2.9 V.

The end result in the design of any LED is to achieve the desired level of light output. According to experimental measurements carried out by Cree, at a current of 700 mA and a room temperature of 25 ̊С, the following results were obtained:

According to the company's standards, the entire emission spectrum of the LEDs produced by them is divided into nine intervals (groups), each of which is assigned a designation. The gradation of the spectrum intervals is carried out according to the temperature in degrees on the Kelvin scale. Consumers are more in demand diodes of the T6 group - this is a cold white light with a flow power of 280 lm at an operating current of 700 mA. All groups have a luminous flux from 164 lm (group S4) to 300 lm (group U2).

Ambient temperature has a great influence on the luminous flux, this is clearly seen from the graph of the dependence of the intensity of the luminous flux on temperature.

With an increase in the ambient temperature, the magnitude of the direct current decreases, respectively, and the brightness of the luminous flux.

During operation and numerous experimental measurements, it was noted that when the crystal is heated to 75°C, the radiation intensity decreases to 10% with respect to the brightness at an ambient temperature of 25°C.

Overview of individual lighting fixtures based on Cree XM-L T6 LEDs

One of the successful options for products based on the Cree XM-L T6 diode is the UltraFire E17 flashlight. Consider the positive aspects, as well as the disadvantages and ways to eliminate them.

The main advantage of the design of this flashlight is the presence of a powerful Cree XM-L T6 LED, a lens and a sliding housing design that allows for focusing (ZOOM) of the light flux. The case is aluminum, under the diverging lens there is a board, on the outer side of which there is an LED, and on the reverse side there is an electronic circuit that converts the parameters of the current and voltage of the power source.

AAA batteries are used for power, with an additional sleeve, 18650 batteries can be supplied. Chinese manufacturers claim a luminous flux of 2,000 lm for the flashlight. Based on the luminous flux power table given by the manufacturer Cree, these data are not credible even taking into account the focusing of the luminous flux through the lens.

The resource of the LED is 100,000 hours, this can be trusted if we take into account the operation of the flashlight without overheating the LED crystal. But the design does not provide a good heatsink for heat dissipation. The LED is located on a textolite board. With prolonged use, the diode inside the case will inevitably heat up, which will cause a decrease in the intensity of the light flux. A diode mounted on an aluminum heat-removing substrate with its ends tightly attached to the case would heat up much less. This would improve the quality of the luminous flux and the life of the flashlight.

Consumers measured the illumination of the UltraFire E17 at a distance of 1 m and obtained the following results:

Luminous flux in various modes of the UltraFire E17 flashlight

At a distance of 10 cm, the luminous flux without a lens was 5,800 lm, through the lens 10,000 lm. In general, the flashlight is not bad, but as always, Chinese products have exaggerated technical characteristics and require some modifications for reliable, long-term operation.

Flashlight brand UltraFire XM-L T6 has more modes:

  • maximum light;
  • average;
  • weak;
  • stroboscope;

Slightly improved performance in UltraFire Cree with XM-L T6 - the board has a metal heatsink in close contact with the case. Sometimes these lamps are equipped with XML-U2 LED, it is more powerful, it only improves the characteristics of the luminous flux.

Finally got around to CREE LEDs. A task was received to test LEDs from the Xlamp XM-L and XM-L2 Cree families. The material is large, since there are too many LEDs of this family, I decided to stop at two copies - neutral white U2. Therefore, those who do not want to read a lot of letters should go straight to the end of the article and see how each of the tested samples of the CREE XM-L and XM-L2 family shines. Well, for those who want to look at the characteristics of CREE, you will have to be patient. Translated the main characteristics of the Datasheet CREE XM-L and XM-L2 into Russian. Perhaps someone will come in handy.

I do not rule out some erroneous points, so please treat this condescendingly and point out controversial points in the comments. Such questions will be studied and corrected as the truth is established.

Specifications of Xlamp CREE XM-L LEDs

The specifications of Xlamp CREE XM-L offer a unique combination of high efficiency at high current and small chip size. We can get about 1000 lumens with an efficiency of more than 100 lm / W at 3A and dimensions of 5mm * 5mm. When compared with the XP-G LED line, they are 20 percent stronger.

Most often, XM-L is used in the design of the main lighting of offices and shops, indoor illuminated advertising and roadway lighting (lanterns).

It is precisely due to the unique characteristics, in particular, high light output, that it is possible to significantly reduce the cost of the entire lighting structure, because we need a smaller number of LEDs and can save on optics.

According to the color characteristic, it can be divided into warm white, cold white and neutral tones. But with color rendering, it's not much worse. In particular, only warm whites are available from standard to CRI 90. Neutral and cool can only be purchased with a standard color rendering index.

All calculated data on light output at currents of 1000, 1500 or 3000mA are for reference only. The company cannot give any exact data. In my deep feeling, this is all from the fact that it is not worth "driving" these chips at such currents. The brightness can and will be good, but degradation will come quickly enough, due to excessive heating. And the use of large heatsinks for such chips is impractical, since the final cost of the light source design will increase.

The next sample that we will consider is the Xlamp XM-L2 Cree LED. From the name it is clear that this is an improved sample of the first performance.

Characteristics of light output at a thermal transition of the crystal up to 25 and up to 85 degrees. Flux Characteristics (TJ = 25 and 85 °C) datasheet

This table will allow us to understand how different the lighting characteristics of Xlamp XM-L and XM-L2 Cree are. According to official figures from Cree, second-generation LEDs are almost 20 percent brighter. Judging by the calculations, there is no smell of 20 percent. Maximum 12-15 percent. But even for this percentage - a good enough "forward movement".

Overall dimensions of Xlamp XM-L and XM-L2 Cree LED according to datasheet

I won't tell you anything new. I liked that, unlike the Chinese counterparts, here the sizes are really held in "hedgehogs" and it is impossible to find a deviation in any batch. Digging through the tyrnet, I realized that this was being monitored by a special OTK line in production. It is a pity that many Chinese do not have this)). But even with them you can find quite good specimens, but you can’t guess with the sizes.

Comparison of Xlamp XM-L and XM-L2 Cree LEDs

For a correct visual comparison, photographs of two identical Xlamp XM-L and XM-L2 Cree U2 LEDs were taken. With our eyes, we can only see the absence on the second generation - vertical "stripes". Instead, if you look closely, you can observe points. The connection also became two-wire instead of three-wire. Cree XM-L2 become 20 percent brighter. Which I highly doubt. And at the same temperature transition they give much more light.

In reality, whether this is true or not - let it remain on the conscience of the manufacturers, but what we have in fact - now let's see, supplying the diodes with the same voltage and current. Naturally, the modernized one will be brighter, but we'll see how much.

In this test, we see that the XM-L2 shines really brighter. At 700 mA we got 343 and 307 lumens. A big figure in favor of the upgraded LED. We did this test using a "dark room" and directly "naked" neutral white LED.

To fully understand what the difference is in real life, we will use flashlights of the same model in order to minimize the difference in visual perception. Both lights have the same lenses.

Conclusion after Xlamp XM-L vs XM-L2 Cree specifications comparison and comparison

I think everything is clear without words. Both in terms of characteristics and in fact - the second-generation diode shines an order of magnitude better. About 20 percent - overestimated, of course, but we win our 12-15 percent. On heating - there are also small improvements. Everything else needs to be looked into more carefully. But our task was to look at the characteristics and compare the Xlamp XM-L and XM-L2 Cree LED families.

Finally, we will publish a table for quickly determining the light output of one and the other type of chips.

Cree Xlamp XM-l and XM-L2 light output comparison tables

An American company with a thirty-year history produces the best semiconductor products. The Cree XM-L T6 LED is one of the most popular high-power LED models. From its inception in 2011 to the present, it has been the company's best-selling led. All this thanks to its performance and quality.

Advantages of XM-L T6

The cree xm-l chip has the shape of a square with sides of 5x5 mm, and is located on a green substrate. This distinguishes it from previous and new generations of LEDs, which have a gray substrate. From above, the LED is protected by a transparent one, with a radius of about 3 mm. The main advantage of the LED is its luminous flux, the values of which vary depending on the color temperature.

The thermal resistance value is about 2.5°C/W. The aluminum heat-removing substrate can be star-shaped with a diameter of 20 mm, as well as round with recesses, with a diameter of 16 mm. The thickness of the substrate is 2 mm.

Main settings

The dimensions of the LED are not very large, especially considering its glow parameters.

LED dimensions

The main parameter of Cree XM-L is the luminous flux. For the T6 model, the minimum luminous flux is 280 lm. In this case, the current is 0.7A. With an increase in current to 1 A, the minimum luminous flux will be 388 lm, respectively, at 1.5 A - 551 lm, at 2A - 692 lm.

These data are obtained theoretically, in practice, normal operation is guaranteed at a nominal current value of 700 mA.

The voltage drop in this case does not exceed 2.9 V. The scattering angle is 125°. The color rendering index is in the range from 80 to 90 Ra. The figure below shows the current-voltage characteristic at normal ambient temperature.

CVC of Cree XM-L T6 LED at normal temperature

The following graph shows the relative drop in luminous flux as the temperature rises to 150°C.

CVC LED Cree XM-L T6 at 150 degrees

Detailed specifications

The luminous flux cree t6 depends on the color temperature, for this a characteristic is introduced - the LED bin. If we consider this model, then there are 8 variants of bins. They are indicated by a number and a Latin letter, for example, 0D, 2A, 3B and so on. A bin corresponds to a specific color temperature with a tolerance. For example, Cree XM-L T6 4C will have a neutral white tint. The manufacturer provides delivery kits for sets with different bins, because it is technologically impossible to single out a specific one. There are 6 standard delivery kits, 5 of which are cold white, 1 is neutral. The original packaging always shows the kit code 50, 51, 53, E1, E2 or E3. In addition to cree t6 wc, there are 14 more groups in the XM-L series. The minimum luminous flux and the most yellow tint will be in the S4 group, and the maximum and, accordingly, the purple tint in the U2 group.

What driver is needed for this LED?

The maximum brightness of the led and the number of operating modes depend on the selected driver. A typical Cree XM-L T6 LED driver should meet the following parameters:

  • nominal input voltage - 4.2 V;
  • output current up to 3 A.

The task of the device is to ensure the stabilization of the output current within narrow limits. This guarantees a reliable glow and a long service life. Often the characteristics of the driver provide for 5 modes of operation of different capacities. But there are options. The video shows a diagram of how to assemble a driver with your own hands.

A cheap microcontroller, a MOSFET, a resistor and a capacitor are used.

Where XM-L T6 LEDs are used

This type of led is widely used in many areas, this applies to both outdoor and indoor decorative lighting. But the most popular product based on this semiconductor device is the UltraFire E17 handheld flashlight.

Flashlight UltraFire E7 with CREE XM-L T6 LEDs

Many indisputable advantages of the product are due to the fact that it uses a high-quality LED, which ensures operation of about 100 thousand hours. The design of the flashlight itself provides for focusing the light flux with the help of a sliding part of the body. Power comes from batteries or accumulators. The driver installed here is designed for just 5 operating modes: maximum power, medium, weak, strobe and SOS.

Summing up, we can say that the Cree XM-L T6 is one of the most sought after ultra-bright LEDs in the line. The design of the star substrate provides the best heat dissipation, which is an important parameter for powerful devices, because with overheating, the led loses its light output. The quality and service life is guaranteed by a well-known American brand.

Cree is one of the market leaders in the production of LEDs. Powerful diodes of the Xlamp series became one of the most popular. On the basis of CREE XM-L2, headlights for bicycles, compact powerful lights are made.

Cunning Chinese sellers are especially fond of putting the CREE mark on their products, the presence of such an inscription raises the level of sales many times over. After all, the majority of the buyer will not be able to distinguish a real Cree from a fake one, they simply will not be able to compare the luminous flux, the light is bright - already good. But if there was no KRII inscription, then it is more likely that you would buy something else that will justify the trust placed in it.

Main parameters of CREE XM-L2 U2 and U3

For those who do not particularly understand the technical documentation, I will compile a table of the main parameters. Also, do not confuse the Cree XM-L and XM-L2 series, they differ in color. XML is green, XML2 is silver. They can also slip you a very popular LED bin, it has slightly worse characteristics, but you won’t notice the difference visually.

How to distinguish original from fake

Super-bright LEDs are mainly used to assemble expensive multifunctional lights, such as Ultrafire. For some lanterns, for example, on Aliexpress, the Chinese indicate such a high brightness, as if they are using alien technology. To set the true brightness, you need to find out its nominal luminous flux by the brand of the LED. In addition to flashlights on the original ones, the Chinese sell a large number of flashlights on fake items. Fake in appearance may resemble the original, but there is no exact resemblance. Accordingly, its quality is lower, and the service life will be much shorter, because they may fail prematurely due to low quality.

One of the easiest ways to tell if a Chinese is cheating is to look at the original datasheet and compare the sizes. As a rule, fake ones are larger in size to provide the necessary luminous flux. Compared to the original, it has fewer Lumens per Watt. Having bought such a flashlight, you should not be upset, you just received a product that corresponds to the amount spent.

Regardless of the generation, this LED provides a very good luminous flux. If the seller asks for a considerable surcharge for the second generation, then you can safely kick him off, he is trying to cheat you for money, since they have the same price, and there is only a difference on paper.

Good day. I have such a dilemma that I no longer eat or sleep for the second week ... PETZL myo XP headlamp, which is already 7 years old. Powered by 3 AA batteries. It has a Seoul w42182 LED. The lamp is programmable. At the highest power, 600 mA comes to the LED and then, depending on the program number, the amperes decrease. I really want to change the LED to a more powerful and efficient one, but I can’t decide in the general ocean of LEDs. Help, pliz, advise what is better. Thanks in advance for your reply.

It depends on the driver parameters, you will have to increase the power on the LED.

Hello, dear Sergey. Please answer. Is there such an auto lamp for 6 and 12 volts with a CREE LED or with CREE LEDs, according to the characteristics that it should be very bright, but at the same time the lamp would consume the minimum number of watts. Please, if you decide to answer , be guided by such an indicator as the capacity of the battery, which is small, this is 5 ampere hours, the glow time of the “good” light is 24 hours. I hope for a friendly answer. Sincerely, Anton Ivanovich.

I did not understand what kind of lamp you need and where it is. Buy a Cree diode and driver.

  3. Vlad 16.01.2017

What a (Miracle) Cree XML UV 395 nm LED put in flashlights. Bailong Police UV Headlamp BL-6866 I understand the color warm white, white and cold white

    1. Expert Answer 23.01.2017

UV LED, but most likely fake LED, not original Cree.

  4. Igor 02.01.2017

Hello, Sergey, Happy New Year to you, I wish you good health, success, new knowledge, acquaintances.
I want to ask you what kind of color temperature is 15000K. Here on Ali a set of LEDs for spreading is sold and in the description there is a line wavelength: 10 pcs. 380nm~840nm/7pcs 660nm 3 pcs. 475nm/5pcs 15000 K 5 pcs. 460nm With Google search, I find a lamp with CreeXLamp® XT-E and XP-E diodes with a temperature of 16000K (and even saw it somewhere with the same 15000K), BUT CreeXLamp® XT-E and XP-E do not have a color temperature of 15000,16000K h . What do you think the Chinese mean by a color temperature of 15000K

    1. Expert Answer 10.01.2017

15000 K is purple, blue. These are ordinary Chinese LEDs, there are no Cree there.

  6. mateo 16.11.2016

There is an MTE sf23 flashlight on the ancient P7
I want to change the driver and the diode to a modern and warmer one. I use it mostly on the bike.
What do you advise? Thank you.

    1. Expert Answer 16.11.2016

      Put Cree suitable.

  7. Dmitriy 01.09.2016

Sergey, help with this problem. I bought a flashlight XGlow series E6, after the next charge I reversed the polarity as a result the LED burned out (it rings in both directions with a resistance of 10 ohms, a characteristic smell appeared), max. light output 625 lumens. The question is where can I buy such an LED, and what brand is it?

    1. Expert Answer 01.09.2016

Usually this is Cree XML T6. You can buy in any online store, this is the most common LED.

  8. Alexey 15.08.2016

Hello. 3 years worked krii xm-l t6 in the fog lamp of a car and died the other day. checked with a tester. I think the reason is the shortcomings of the thermal paste.
question: 1 . Is it possible to change the chip yourself or take it with a radiator and collective farm.
    2. where to buy (except alli)
    3. how long will XM-L 2 U2 work on an old radiator from T6 at a current of 3A

    1. Expert Answer 17.08.2016

      1. The chip can be changed, but you need good equipment.
      2. You can buy in domestic online stores.
      3. Depends on the size of the radiator and heating. Long is a relative concept, someone even 1000 hours long in this mode.

  9. Nicholas 12.08.2016

Tell me how to prove that the seller sent a fake? I bought a bicycle lamp on Ali in which, according to the text of the ad, 2 x cree xml u3. When I unpacked and turned it on, it shines like a children's handheld flashlight, I took it apart - there is no cree inscription on the substrate, and in general they are somehow nameless and doubled ... two substrates together and only two contacts for two LEDs, i.e. the second one is soldered somehow from inside the substrate, unfortunately I can’t insert a photo of this miracle here, but on Ali I opened a dispute with the seller, help him how to correctly prove that the bastard is cheating.

    1. Expert Answer 12.08.2016

I am an expert in this, after my expertise, manufacturers usually begin to deal with Chinese factories. Send me an email, it's in the "About Me" section.

Sergey, please read more about bins and don't confuse people with your delusions.

    1. Expert Answer 01.06.2016

      Write what you don't like.

  12. Igor 25.04.2016

Sergey, please answer. What is the difference between Cree XM-L2 and Cree XM-L2 U2 LEDs? I want to order a Nightcore HC-50 headlamp. The 2015 version has the Cree XM-L2, the new 2016 version has the Cree XM-L2 U2. Which is better to take? Thank you in advance.

    1. Expert Answer 26.04.2016

U2 is the Cree XM-L2 LED bin. Another popular bin of this diode is "T6". They differ by 20 lumens. It turns out T6 300 lumens, U2 320 lumens. The difference is insignificant and imperceptible.

  13. Maxim Popovich 01.04.2016

Dear! You are a specialist. I have reviewed many reviews. Nobody understands. There are no specific tests for LEDs. I want to buy a flashlight, but I don't know which LED is better because there are no specific comparisons.
    Dear! What do you recommend from your experience - C8 CREE XM-L2 U3 with a current of 3500 mA, or C8 CREE XP-L V5 with a current of 3000 mA. Or Convoy XM-L2 U2 1A 2800 mA.
Which one is brighter, more powerful? long-range? What's yours? Please write to my email: [email protected]

    1. Expert Answer 01.04.2016

Compare the nominal luminous flux and find out the difference. In terms of parameters, they are similar, so the range of the rechargeable LED flashlight will depend on the optics of the flashlight.

  14. Andrey 27.03.2016

Hello, please tell me which LED lamps for high and low beams are suitable for me. The headlight I have is from two compartments Chevrolet Lumina APV model 1992 issue Everyone complains that they initially have poor factory light

    1. Expert Answer 27.03.2016

Look in the "Autoshop" section on my website, there are good low and high beam lamps.

  15. Igor 18.03.2016

“... Then each diode will give 600 Lumens. In total, 2 T6 LEDs will give 1200 lumens.
It seems to me that (from a physics course) that the light fluxes from various sources are not summed up, but is calculated as the square root of the sum of the squares of each source. Those. not 1200 will be, but 848. (Light still has corpuscular-wave dualism. And as you know, the waves should not be summed up, because even if the waves are with the same frequency, but out of phase, we get 0 on the exhaust). But if the waves were coherent (with the same frequency and phase), then it would be mono to summarize

    1. Expert Answer 19.03.2016

Here the waves do not need to be summarized, this is a stream of photons. For example, 1 diode gives 40 lumens. We turn on 2 diodes, it turns out 80 lumens.

  16. Dima 28.02.2016

Hello, is the driver from t6 to l2 u2 suitable?? if not, please advise the required power!!

    1. Expert Answer 29.02.2016

      Will do.

  17. Sergey 23.12.2015

Hello, what can you say about these bulbs?

    1. Expert Answer 23.12.2015

Like a copy of old Japs, the seller is lying about the luminous flux. One bulb only 1200-1300 Lumens. Outdated for a long time.

  18. Anonymous 04.11.2015

Didn't expect to find the answer to my question, (number 1), in this thread. Thanks Sergey!
The Fenix headlights have a very good beam shape, as far as you can judge from YouTube videos.
Another such headlight and close to see up to $ 200.

    1. Expert Answer 04.11.2015

In fact, everything is standard if you know the specifications.

  19. Dmitriy 17.10.2015

    Hello Sergey!

I also dug around on the Cree website.
If you follow the specifications table and believe that Cree is not lying, it turns out that, for example, U2 LEDs at 0.7 amps will give out 300 lumens of illumination. Then what we get. Eminent firms, for example Fenix in the BT30 model, either lie with 1200 (1800) lumens, or does the driver increase the current to more than 2 amperes (728 + 728 lumens)? We all know that there are two Panasonic 2900 (3100) mAh batteries inside. That is, if two LEDs work for 1 hour and 50 minutes, as Fenix points out, then at best, each LED will have 1690 mAh, which is more than half the capacity of native batteries. The question is, where does the extra hour of work come from?

    1. Expert Answer 17.10.2015

These diodes are described on my website. Everything is simple here.
The Fenix BT30 has two Cree XML-T6 diodes. It is rated at 300 Lumens. With good cooling, the current can be increased up to 2 times. Then each diode will give 600 Lumens. In total, 2 T6 LEDs will give 1200 lumens.
If the current is increased further, then there will be a decent degradation. In Turbo mode 1800 lm. The LED will work 10 times less. In nominal terms, it works 30,000 hours. On dual current 20.000 hours. In turbo mode 2.000 hours. Question about an extra hour of work, ask the manufacturer of flashlights Fenix.

  20. Andrey 03.10.2015

Good day, Sergey. I have a big problem with the ThruNite TN30 flashlight. During disassembly, I accidentally turned the reflector and broke two TN30 LEDs - (LEDs 3 x Cree XM-L U2, 2630 ANSI Lumens.). I “climbed” all the expanses of the Internet, and did not find where one could buy such a board with LEDs. Help advice what to do? Where can I buy such a board or buy LEDs separately? If you buy them separately from the board, the question arises - how to solder them. I am not an expert in this matter, but I will not find specially trained people in our city. I can send a photo of the board with LEDs to your mail. Help me please. With all respect, Andrew.

    1. Expert Answer 06.10.2015

This question is best asked on the Fonarevka forum, they specialize in flashlights.
