Four-door coupe VW Passat CC

At the international North American auto show in early 2008, the German company Volkswagen pleased the world community with a model called the Passat CC ("Comfort Coupe") - a new "four-door coupe" with sports body contours, a German-style solid interior and driver's character. In the same year, the car began to develop the world's leading markets, including the Russian one.

In November 2011, an updated version of the four-door debuted on the catwalks of the Los Angeles Auto Show, which gained independence, having lost the word "Passat" in the name (although for Russia the "German" retained its former name). But the improvements were not limited to this - the car received a more solid appearance, acquired an improved interior, replenished its arsenal with new options and was awarded small technical metamorphoses.

The appearance of the Volkswagen Passat CC successfully combines the solidity of a "business" sedan and the elegance of a coupe - the car looks exceptionally beautiful. The most intriguing view of the four-door in profile is due to the deliberately dynamic and graceful contours of the body with a long hood, a smoothly falling roof and a sloping trunk. But from other angles, the “German” demonstrates a calmer and more rigorous outline - a moderately presentable front end with bi-xenon optics and a massive radiator grille and a stocky rear with stylish lights and a relief bumper.

The overall dimensions of the “coupe sedan” are somewhere on the border of the “D” and “E” classes according to the European classification: 4802 mm long, 1417 mm high and 1885 mm wide. The gap between the axles of the car is 2711 mm, and its ground clearance does not exceed 154 mm.

Inside, the Volkswagen Passat CC looks stylish and German-style soundly and impresses with excellent quality materials (nice plastics, aluminum inserts, good fabric and genuine leather) and a high level of assembly. From the point of view of design and ergonomics, the interior of the four-door is thought out to the smallest detail - a convenient multifunctional steering wheel with optimal dimensions, a concise and informative instrument panel, a laconic but attractive center console with an analog clock, a multimedia system unit and a climate control panel.

The front riders in the Volkswagen Passat CC enjoy tight seats with pronounced lateral support for the hips and torso, a wide range of settings and heating (optionally also ventilation and electric drive). The “gallery” is double by default, and a triple rear sofa is installed for an extra charge (but in any case, the sloping roof puts pressure on the heads of tall passengers, although in other directions there is plenty of free space).

With practicality, the "four-door coupe" is in full order - its standard cargo compartment holds 532 liters of luggage. The “hold” of the car is able to boast of the correct shape and a decent opening, but it upsets with a big loading height. A full-size spare tire and the necessary tools are stored in a niche under the raised floor.

Specifications. In the Russian market for the Volkswagen Passat CC, three TSI gasoline engines are provided, which are combined with a similar number of gearboxes and two types of transmissions.

  • Under the hood of the initial versions of the three-volume engine there is an in-line 1.8-liter “four” with direct fuel supply, a 16-valve timing, a turbocharger and phase shifters at the inlet and outlet, developing 152 “mares” at 5000-6200 rpm and 250 Nm of torque at 1500 -4200 rpm. She is assisted by a 6-speed “mechanics” or a 7-band “robot” (optional), directing the potential to the wheels of the front axle. To the first "hundred" such a car rushes in 8.5-8.6 seconds, gains a maximum of 222 km / h and "drinks" at least 7.3-7.4 liters in combined conditions.
  • Intermediate versions of the Passat SS are equipped with a four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine with a vertical layout, a 16-valve timing belt with a chain drive, turbocharging and direct power supply, the output of which fits into 210 “horses” at 5300-6200 rpm and 290 Nm of peak thrust at 1700-5000 rpm. Together with a 7-speed DSG and a front-wheel drive transmission, it allows the four-door to conquer 100 km / h in 7.8 seconds, stop accelerating only after reaching 240 km / h and consume 7.8 liters of gasoline in mixed mode.
  • The "top" modifications of the Volkswagen Passat CC "flaunt" a 3.6-liter V-shaped six-cylinder engine with an aluminum block, a 24-valve timing and direct injection technology, generating 300 horsepower at 6600 rpm and 350 Nm of maximum capacity at 2400-5300 rpm /minute. It is paired with a six-speed robot and a 4Motion all-wheel drive system based on a Haldex clutch with four-wheel traction distribution. From zero to the first "hundred" such a car breaks down in 5.5 seconds and rests at 250 km / h, and "eats" about 9.3 liters in the "city / highway" cycle.

At the heart of the Volkswagen Passat CC is the front-wheel drive platform "PQ45" with a transverse power unit and abundant use of high-strength steels in the body structure. The suspension of the car is completely independent: MacPherson struts with transverse levers are mounted in front, and four-link architecture in the back. Optionally, it is equipped with an adaptive chassis with DCC electronically controlled shock absorbers, which have three operating modes: "comfortable", "sporty" and "standard".
In the "staff" the four-door has a rack-and-pinion steering system with an electromechanical control amplifier and progressive characteristics. All wheels of the car are equipped with disc brakes with a diameter of 310 mm at the front and 285 mm at the rear, assisted by ABS, EDB and other electronic gadgets.
