A bold experiment, presented in 2002 under the name FordFocus C-Max, was a success. The compact minivan proved to be in demand. It was originally released for the European continent.
Generations and modifications
After restyling in 2007, the Simax brand, left without the Focus prefix, set off on an independent voyage. Now there are two generations:
- the first generation was produced in 2003–2010;
- the second one has been produced since 2010.
In October 2014, the world saw a new restyling.
The base models are the 5-seat Ford C-Max and the 7-seat Ford Grand C-Max. “Big Brother”, in addition to capacity, differs in length (by 14 cm) and rear doors (sliding). Other specifications are similar. In addition to these modifications, there are cars stuffed with additional equipment (Ambiente, Trend, Titanium).
Exterior: a new philosophy
The appearance is made in the philosophy of "kinetic design". The idea is to get the feel of the car moving even when it is stationary. The latest Ford C-Max is in this spirit. Compact vans have become more aggressive, more dynamic. They combine seemingly incompatible feelings of sophisticated style and sportiness. Aerodynamics enhances speed performance.
Among the new exterior elements:
- new running lights and taillights on LEDs;
- updated bumpers and grille;
- hood and front fenders.
Interior
The basic models are inherently conservative in the internal configuration. However, everything here is done for the convenience of the driver and passengers. Armchairs are excellent for long and comfortable sitting even for tall people. The second triple seat is located close. If necessary, the middle part of the seat is moved to the trunk, and the two extreme ones are shifted to the center, and two spacious places are obtained. In the seven-seat Grande, the last two seats are quite comfortable to sit on, but there is not enough legroom.
The steering wheel and steering are a delight to many drivers. But there is an ergonomic omission here: it is uncomfortable to reach the control buttons on the steering wheel.
Not everything is going smoothly with the driver's view. The dead zone control system should solve this problem. This is a visual information feature. If another vehicle is in the dead zone of the driver's view, the system turns on a light bulb built into the mirrors.
After restyling in 2014, an upgraded multimedia system with a touch screen and a navigator flaunts on the center console. Specifications allow voice control.
In the salons of the latest Ford C-Max models, according to the manufacturer, increased noise isolation and reduced vibration. And all thanks to thicker side windows and new sound-absorbing material.

Ford C-Max is equipped with already known engines. These are petrol Duratec and EcoBoost, diesel Duratorq. The volume of engines is from 1.0 to 2.0 liters. Many people know about the strengths and weaknesses of gasoline and diesel engines. But the characteristics of a liter Ecobust are probably little known.
For the first time he "earned" in 2012. Three cylinders and 998 cc see give out power of 100 or 150 horsepower. The fuel economy figures of this gasoline engine are impressive. Chassis

Low, as in many foreign cars, the clearance, depending on the load, is 14–15 cm. Domestic drivers note this particular drawback as the main one. And some claim that they managed to increase the ground clearance to 18 cm.
