Mitsubishi ASX: ground clearance and dimensions

A small crossover Mitsubishi ASX was introduced to the European market in 2010 at the Geneva exhibition. Since that time, the model has undergone minor external changes. However, the general profile, similar to the Lancer X (on its basis, the car was developed) has been preserved. At the same time, the big brother Outlander completely changed.

For sales in the Russian segment, the car is assembled at factories in Japan. It is this feature that ensures excellent quality and safety. If we talk about technical characteristics, then for Russia the model is supplied in three variations of the gasoline engine: 1.6; 1.8; 2 liters. In the European market, you can find a diesel engine.

The driver should be pleased with the big 20cm clearance between hull and road. The claimed ground clearance of the Mitsubishi ACX is 195 mm. Both all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive modifications are produced. It should be noted that all-wheel drive is available only in the maximum engine configuration.

Externally, the car is very similar to another model of the company - Lancer X, especially when viewed from the front. The developers of the car took a lot of ideas and features from the sedan. The first thing that immediately becomes noticeable is the large trapezoid-shaped radiator grille.

Attention! Recently, a restyled version was released, which added daytime LED lights.

All Mitsubishi parameters

Mitsubishi ACX dimensions:

  • Body length - 4 m 29.5 cm;
  • Width - 1 m 77 cm;
  • Car height - 1 m 61.5 cm (including roof rails 1 m 62.5 cm);
  • Body weight - 1 t 870 kg;
  • Distance between two axes - 2 m 67 cm;
  • Mitsubishi ACX trunk size - 384 liters (+ spare wheel in full size);
  • The tank holds 63 liters in the front-wheel drive version and 60 liters in the all-wheel drive;

Mitsubishi ACX built on McFerson independent front suspension and multi-link system with stabilizers of transverse mechanisms. The car uses ventilated disc brakes on both wheels. Also, in some trim levels, emergency braking mechanisms and other additions are available.

Verification of the declared characteristics

Such information is useful to people who choose Mitsubishi ACX for themselves. For some, the issue of clearance is very important, a small clearance will not always be able to provide the proper level of operation. In the documentation for the ACX, a figure of 195 mm is stated. However, detailed and accurate information is nowhere to be found.

All measurements will be taken using a regular tape measure. First, it is worth specifying the characteristics of the tested model. Installed 1.6 liter engine with manual transmission, front-wheel drive. The car is fitted with Falcen winter tires. Factory rims are 16 inches. In the trunk is a spare wheel and a standard set of tools. There were no changes or modifications to the body. In fact, this is a Mitsubishi ACX in the basic configuration. Tire pressure measured - 2.2 atmospheres. Dimensions are made on a flat concrete road.

The measurements were taken in an unusual way. The master used a tape measure, measuring while lying on his side. This may lead to small errors. Measurement in the front showed a clearance of 200 mm.

Next, let's move to the back of the Mitsubishi ACX, there is an exhaust pipe. It does not stick out as much as it might seem at first glance. We measure the distance under the pipe and get the 195 mm promised by the manufacturer. The exhaust diameter was measured on the bends in the places where the “ear” was fixed. Its diameter is 53 mm, and then the pipe gradually increases to 60 mm. The size of the exhaust outlet relative to the rest of the body is approximately 15 millimeters.

One of the most painful places in most cars are thresholds and corrugations. It is they who often catch high speed bumps. To eliminate problems, measurements were made under the thresholds of the driver's seat. There was plenty of room for various maneuvers. Ground clearance Mitsubishi ASX is fully consistent with the declared characteristics. As a result, it turns out that the clearance throughout the body is even greater than specified. The only exception is a small protrusion from the pipe. However, it does not fall below the declared 195 mm.
