Opel Antara 2.2 diesel engine. Opel Antara, Hyundai Santa Fe: choosing a diesel crossover

Continuation of the review about a car that has traveled 30,000 km.

About pleasant things:

1. Diesel consumption at 70/30 highway/city and with maximum quiet driving is 8 liters per 100 km according to the computer, in reality it turns out to be a little more than 700 km per tank. BUT - if the diesel is Shelovsky and only, filter burnout is minimal. The rest is diesel - 600-650km per tank! — the filter can be cleaned in up to 40 minutes! I think this is NOT NORMAL!

Review of Opel Antara 2.0 CDTI (Opel Antara) 2013

Hello dear forum users and guests!

While the family is on vacation, I had the opportunity to while away the evening at the computer and talk about my new car.

Why Opel Antara? According to the aggregate characteristics cm/kg/rub. — I haven’t found a better option. Looking ahead, I’ll immediately say that a car with a 3.0 engine, in the maximum and only configuration for this engine + additional. the Cosmo Premium Plus package + additional payment for color cost 1.2 mil. rub. For this money, the choice among SUVs is, in principle, large, but they are all united by weaker engines, sizes and configurations, and if anyone approached, the price was already higher (for example, Rav-4, Mazda CX-5) and with that price I would I already looked at the Nissan Murano, fortunately in the summer of 13, there were discounts on 12 cars and for 1.5 you could get a very stuffed car. The only competitor to Antara is its brother Chevrolet Captiva, but the Opel nameplate was closer to my heart, so I didn’t even consider Captiva, although the latter has some points that can play a fundamental role for someone when choosing: the possibility of a 7-seater saloon, a separate discovery glass of the 5th door and a huge niche under the trunk floor due to the fact that the spare wheel is under the bottom, but there is also one significant drawback - the absence of xenon in all trim levels. Why V6 3.0, petrol-eating? Firstly, judging by the reviews, 2.4 consumes no less, but it’s clearly hard for it to carry 2 tons, secondly, diesel is an excellent option and optimal for long mileages, but with my 10KKm per year it’s clearly not an option and it’s suffocating the tax toad, especially thanks to Opel that they indicated an engine power of 249 l/s, and not like on the Cadillac SRX 265 l/s, and most importantly, the last two years of operation of the fusion weighed it down so much with sluggish dynamics that it was decided not to make compromises. And as a bonus, Opel gave a discount in the summer by 2.4 70 thousand rubles, by 3.0 120 thousand, i.e. at least 5 years in advance the difference in tax was reflected).

Strengths:

Has no competitors in terms of price/number of cars

Weak sides:

Review of Opel 2.2 Diesel automatic 184 hp (Opel Antara) 2013

My first crossover. I installed all possible additional packages, webasts, etc. The total cost of the car is 1.5 rubles - I negotiated down to 1.2, that’s why I bought it!)))

Before this there were a Lacetti 1.6m maximum speed, a Mazda 6 1.8m and a Honda Accord 2.4 (201) hp. Automatic, maximum configuration (all new)

I will compare with sedans. Probably not entirely correct, but still there are a lot of points of contact.

Strengths:

  • If we strictly summarize the car for 1.2 m. rubles, it is worth giving a solid four at the time of break-in and 3500 km!

Weak sides:

  • Raises reliability issues. The Accord, after 180 thousand kilometers of constant violence, say, the pedal to the floor and at 200 km per hour with frequent driving on the roundabout, just began to crumble a little! What will happen to this car under normal conditions on such runs?

Review of Opel Antara 2.4 (Opel Antara) 2010

My wife and I bought this car on December 15, 2010, equipment: cruise, parking sensors, 18mm wheels, on-board computer. I liked the car right away, the first car with an automatic transmission, 140 hp power, some people don’t have enough, it’s not a racing car. We went to the Sea of Azov through Ukraine twice and everything was great, my wife and I both drive and we didn’t complain about overtaking, we always overtook without problems, the average speed was 90, but the consumption could have been less, but two tons and an automatic, although we were ready to such expenses. As far as the interior is concerned, the only complaint I have is the armrest, I’m happy with the suspension, for us it’s the best, before this we had a Peugeot 307, it’s a bit harsh, but this one has everything in moderation.

The cross-country ability is super for such a car, wherever we have been, all the Japs were already digging for worms halfway, but this one is rushing, although I only realized about its capabilities after six months of driving. Everyone is used to the fact that if you get stuck, you have to pull away, but on this car it’s the other way around, you just have to press the trigger stupidly and that’s it, and the car itself turns on, what and how it should be, it’s been tested more than once, and you can also rock it, which also helps without consequences for the car. Dunlop 270 tires are also good, but everything needs to be done with your head, it’s still not a jeep.

I noticed that Antara is criticized by those who simply do not know the car. Well, the BC does not show the engine temperature and even if you have a modern car, not a VAZ-2101, if something is wrong, that is, there are electronics, it will tell you, you should enjoy it, and not look for disadvantages. In frost -36 it starts easily and without autostart. I like the restyled car, if there is an opportunity, I will exchange it for the same configuration.

Strengths:

Weak sides:

  • Turning radius
  • Fuel consumption

Review of Opel Antara 2.4 (Opel Antara) 2011 Part 2

Well, the time has come when the emotions and euphoria from the car pass and everyday life begins"routine" . After writing the first opus, the car underwent a baptism of fire and was used for its intended purpose. Urban asphalt everyday life was replaced by a broken dirt track and light off road.

Well, let's start with THAT.

The first and subsequent maintenance is carried out at intervals of 10,000 km or a year (although the service book generally says six months, but many officials limit it to a year). This was not a slight shock for me, of course, but it did cause bewilderment. Almost all brands and models have a service interval of every 15,000 km. Anyway. The price of TO 1 over the phone fluctuated around 8500-9200 rubles, and no one could clearly say the exact cost. Upon arrival, the cost turned out to be 7600 rubles, of which 5000 rubles was labor (for which I still didn’t understand) and oil with filter - 2400 rubles + technological washing as much as 400 rubles. I wash a car with carpets and sills for 350, but this is just the body. In general, I concluded that if it weren’t for the warranty, then TO1 would have cost me 3000 rubles. Okay, I’ll go through a couple more maintenance, only with my own oil and consumables, and then I’ll go to the unofficials.

Review of Opel Antara 2.4 (Opel Antara) 2011

At the request of the workers, I decided to write a short essay about Antarik. Although I thought to wait until the odometer showed at least 10,000 km.

Well, okay, I present to your judgment my work of art.

So, I decided to change the Suzuki Grand Vitara 3D to a car with two extra doors, for the convenience of boarding and disembarking passengers and further expanding the family.

Strengths:

  • Equipment
  • Appearance (but not for everybody)
  • Automatic transmission (mechanics in the firebox)
  • Permeability for parquet

Weak sides:

  • Consumption
  • Back view
  • Weak engine

Review of Opel Antara 2.4 (Opel Antara) 2007 Part 2

Good evening!

I want to continue the story about my Antara. Currently the mileage is almost 30,000 km.

This year I drove it to Sochi, which is almost 3000 km. one way. There are only good memories from the trip. The car behaved just fine. And whoever writes that it shakes when passing an oncoming truck has simply not driven the Antara. Yes, I actually see that most reviews are written in the first hours of a message appearing. This raises some questions that everyone is waiting for feedback and immediately writing. But let's return to Antara...

Strengths:

  • Excellent handling and cross-country ability (for a crossover)
  • Excellent comfort and sound insulation
  • Low consumption
  • Inexpensive service
  • Even a simple package contains everything

Weak sides:

  • Low front hitch eye
  • Must be ordered with front seat option

Review of Opel Antara 2.4 (Opel Antara) 2007

Good afternoon

So I decided to write a review, or rather first impressions of my car.

I'll start in order. Before Antara, I had an Opel Meriva. I'm so happy with the car. I walked such distances on it that it just took me by fear. In general, Opel is a very reliable brand. Traveled 70,000 km on Meriwe. No problem. They called from the salon and said that there was an Antara for a test drive. I went, looked and took it. The mileage was 3000 km. Now almost 10,000 km. I will say that it is a very worthy car. Before I bought Antara, I tested almost all crossovers. I can even give consultations!!! The GM Antara and Captiva have no equal in terms of ease of control and landing. Even in Lexuses (I was recently in a 350 and 430) it’s not so comfortable. Something is bothering me. The car is of the simplest configuration, but has almost everything. And what is not there is not necessary. The interior trim is at a very high level (German), many brands are inferior to Opel in this regard. Comfortable chairs, moderately hard, with good adjustment. The trunk is a bit small, but that's how it seems.

Strengths:

  • Comfortable
  • Worthy
  • Stylish
  • Good handling
  • Reliable
  • Small consumption

Weak sides:

  • Small trunk

Review of Opel max (Opel Antara) 2008

11.08.2009

We had cars before: Volga, Passat B4, VAZ 2109, VAZ 2110, Megan 2. Tried: Volvo xc70, Honda CV-R 2 liter.

My first car with such an engine (3.2 l). Now I understand people who “can’t have too many horses.” I spent a long time deciding what to buy, I looked at all the cars in this class, I planned to take a 2.4L Honda (very comfortable seat + handling, I didn’t like the 175mm ground clearance), but I went into the showroom, the price was 1300 TR. I didn't like it.

Strengths:

  • Compact
  • Fast
  • Comfortable seat
  • Ground clearance 200mm
  • Optimal price-quality ratio in this category

Weak sides:

  • City consumption 20l
  • Tax 18,000 rubles per year
  • Leather upholstery is not of high quality
  • Small trunk
  • Little legroom for rear passengers
  • Dokatka
  • Very modest price for spare parts for Opel

Review of Opel Antara 3.2 V6 (Opel Antara) 2008

Exactly a month ago, they finally brought me an Opel Antara crossover in a top-end configuration with a 3.2 liter V6 engine. 227 hp, leather interior, xenon, parking sensors, rain sensors and all sorts of electronic assistants that ensure the safety of a fast and comfortable ride. Those. packaging at a modern level. As it turned out, this is almost the first AV car with such an engine and there were only 2 of them. instead of 10, GM probably has some problems setting up mass assembly of this model near St. Petersburg. I bought it at the Kuntsevo shopping center.

I received the car in 3 months. I drove 1,500 km, so I already managed to spoil it after running in the engine. Before buying, I read a lot of articles about the car on the Internet, about test drives, although mostly about the model with the 2.4 engine. After traveling I realized that there are a lot of subjective assessments in the reviews. Some people prefer Subaru, others BMW, to each their own. I can only say that Antara 3.2 has its own face. A car with such an engine and chassis can provide driving and handling pleasure. And the price is not much higher than Japanese competitors. Mazda CX-7 will even be a little more expensive. Some of my friends who own BMWs appreciated the driving performance and interior comfort of my Antara.

So first impressions in brief. There are a lot of things that make me happy. The suspension is harsh (but not annoying), and this is even good, as it provides handling at a decent level (very close to the BMW X3). The engine is great, pulls very well, I would say the power is just right, no more, no less. The suspension settings, steering and engine power provoke fast driving. The energy intensity of the suspension is such that it does not break through when driving through, for example, large potholes, which often happens on our roads.

But on the other hand, the car shakes on small bumps and practically follows the profile of the road. But I’m ready to put up with it, given the sporty nature of the AV car and its drive. The steering is very clear, precise, at high speed the steering wheel is slightly heavy, but its reactions to the driver’s actions are adequate and there is an understanding that everything is under your control. There is no comparison with Captiva. It gives the impression of the suspension being unassembled, of some kind of looseness. In Antara everything is different: composure, spirit for active driving, dynamism.

So far I have discovered 3 shortcomings:

1) when passing small irregularities, soft knocking sounds are observed in the front suspension. I showed it to the warranty repairman and said that this is a design flaw inherent in all Antars and Captiva. Previously, they tried to eliminate the deficiency by replacing various elements, but the knocking did not disappear. GM is working on this, they took note of my Antara, they will change it as soon as GM changes the design of the shock absorbers and something else.

2) sometimes one gets the impression that the operation of the automatic transmission in conjunction with a powerful engine is not entirely clear. Perhaps this impression of the operation of the machine is false, because... Before that I only drove manual ones. It seems that you press on the gas, but it doesn’t spin up fast enough. This is especially noticeable when moving uphill. I'll figure it out over time.

3) high fuel consumption. Depending on the situation on the road and driving style, the computer still shows consumption in the range of 17.5 - 21 l/100 km. The engine is probably still being run in, as stated in the operating instructions.

In general, the AV car is very pleasing. I am very pleased with the purchase, I really enjoy driving and driving, if you don’t find fault with the minor shortcomings that are present in any AV car. I was considering buying a small crossover, looking closely at the BMW X3, Freelander 2, the Japanese Outlander XL, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-7. The priority was the V6 engine, power over 200 hp.

I'll start with what I didn't like.

1. The manager in the salon said that there is passive cruise control - it turned out to be active. How can you not know this?????

2. The manager at the salon said that the headlights were adjusted manually - it turned out to be automatic. With all due respect to the automatic, it often fails, even on such extremely reliable cars as Honda and Mazda.

3. The control of the power windows is strange, you press a little and the glass rushes down or up at great speed - it’s a little scary that it will break soon! The smoothness of the glass in previous cars was much more pleasant.

4. The hatch control is also not very convenient compared to the Accord.

5. Navigation is not bad, but the location of the screen is simply inconvenient; the speakerphone saves the day. I’m thinking about how to change the standard navigation to a wonderful city guide with a SIM card!???

6. During acceleration, turbo holes were noticed, and this does not happen at a certain speed, but in a certain gear!???

7. Parking sensors work well, but! - it’s unclear where the obstacle is! Only a sound signal and no understanding of the obstacle in front or behind!!!

8. Front skirt, well, a strange decision. I’m just going to cut it so that when it hits, part of the rubber will bend and not tear it all out from the fasteners!

9. The noise is not very good, but in my Japanese cars it was at the same level of 3+!

10. It turned out to be a crooked glove box, stupid interior, nothing more.

11. After the accord, the rear-view mirrors, although larger in size, seem less convenient and formatted.

12. When driving backwards, there is no automatic tilting of the right rear view mirror; on the Accord this option was already standard.

13. Very large and beautiful wheels and tires - from 14,000 rubles for tires, a little expensive for such a crossover)))!

14. Strange diesel fuel consumption. When filling on "Kirishi", "Linos" - every three hundred km the consumption increased without increasing the engine speed by 15-30 minutes!!! I read about cleaning the particulate filter - but there the engine keeps speed, in my case it’s just consumption. When refueling at Lukoil, PTK and NESTLE, this was almost not observed, well, since it was approximately 500 km away.

15. Something is creaking somewhere!??? In the panel!

16. Folding mirrors in the center of the panel, why not on the door??? I've been getting used to it for a month now - I'm not used to it yet!

17. Frankly crappy climate control, + single-zone!

18. The glass sweats a little, but you can fight it. There was such a problem in the Lacetta, it was impossible to fight there (((.

19. Strange and uneven noise of the AC fan!

Now what I liked:

1. Believe it or not, after the chord I liked the controls on the antara! Yes, it’s power steering, but so far it’s steering just fine. On the Mazda 6 and Lichetti, the handling is worse!

2. Real consumption on the highway, if you drive 80-90 km per hour on a cruise, is 6.4 liters per 100 km. (As soon as the engine is cleaned??? - +4 liters)

If you drive 110-130 km per hour on a cruise - up to 9 liters.

If you drive normally or slightly above average (70% highway/30% city) - surprisingly, about 10 liters per 100 km!

I drove along the highway for a very long time and tried to save fuel - I drove 1054 km on a tank! 1120 km on the accord - well, I’m a fan of squeezing everything out of a car that it can and cannot do))). But nevertheless, this is a fact!

3. Passability is, of course, an amazing thing! I ride all over the region for work, the chord no longer had a bottom!!!

4. Low beam - just cool! The distant one is a little worse, but still worthy!

5. Turn signals blink 3 times when pressed lightly - a standard convenient thing.

6. The fact that there is a hatch.

7. Not very bad music.

8. Touch screen with convenient and intuitive controls.

9. Full-size spare tire.

10. Very playful when accelerating the car, thanks to the turbine. Especially at 90 km/h it’s just a kick in the butt!

11. The rain sensor works very well! I read bad reviews about him. True, I haven’t figured out yet whether it can be adjusted for sensitivity.

12. The automatic transmission works well, although there were ideas and plugs several times, but so far the running-in continues. Compared to the chord, the machines are similar in their operation.

13. It’s just a tall car, you can clearly see what’s going on ahead.

14. It takes high-speed turns very well, rolls are minimal, it’s clear where it’s going.

15. Parking sensors around the entire perimeter.

16. In my opinion, the outside rear-view mirrors are also dimmed, my wife and I still haven’t figured it out))))

17. Excellent tinting of all windows except the front ones.

18. Factory roof rails - after all, for long journeys (I drove 220 thousand km in Russia and Europe on the Accord), sometimes you need to put your luggage on top for an emergency overnight stay in the car!

19. Stupid managers in the salon said that the navigator and so on are in English - everything is configured in Russian.

20. Built-in speakerphone for talking on the phone - just super!!! Friends' connections were delivered later - their quality is much worse!!!

21. On the highway, due to the weight, the wind almost doesn’t blow it away!

22. Active cruise control! On a Mazda with a manual because of the mechanics - after all, it was just a nice option, and not an assistant! On the chord there is only a passive (.

23. Driver's seat with electric. drive and you can find a comfortable position, but there is no memory for two drivers as in the chord.

24. Not very bad leather, in the accord it was much better and with perforation.

25. Heated seats work very quickly, there are many intensity options.

26. Beautiful alloy wheels 19 radius, 235mm by 50mm.

is a five-door all-wheel drive mid-size crossover from a popular European brand. It's no secret that crossovers are the most popular class of cars in the world. Due to great demand, almost every automaker produces cars of this kind, and Opel was no exception. Despite the fact that the Antara is one of the first cars of this class to be officially presented on the domestic market, it did not sell as well as its less famous competitors.

A little history:

The Opel Antara concept was presented at the international auto show in Frankfurt in 2005. And already in 2006, at the Paris auto show, the debut of the production version of the car took place. Antara is Opel's first crossover, the car is built on the " GM Theta“The Chevrolet Captiva is also based on it. Unlike Captiva, Antara received a shorter rear overhang, a different exterior interior design and improved sound insulation. Production of the Opel Antara for the CIS market began in 2007 in South Korea, and since mid-2008, the crossover has been assembled in Russia. "Has" Antary"and twin brother" Saturn View", the whole difference is that cars with the Opel logo are assembled in Russia and Korea, and " Saturn View" - in America. In 2010, a restyled version of the car was presented to the public. The Opel Antara 2011 model year received a new radiator grille with a large logo, a different bumper, fog lights with chrome trim, modified taillights, and the interior design was also slightly changed. The second generation of the car was introduced in 2015.

Advantages and disadvantages of Opel Antara with mileage

Unlike most modern cars, the Opel Antara has a fairly high-quality paintwork, but even despite this, the car body is not without corrosion problems. Most often susceptible to corrosion: trunk door, door edges, also, rust appears under plastic and chrome trims. After winter, washer fluid stops flowing to the rear wiper. The connections of the main pipes in the area of the right rear pillar are broken.

Engines

Opel Antara has a fairly wide range of power units: gasoline - 2.4 (140 hp), 3.0 (249 hp), 3.2 (227 hp); diesel – 2.0 (127 and 150 hp), 2.2 (143 and 184 hp). The 2.4 engine has been produced since 1980 and is well known from the Opel Ascona model. This power unit is quite reliable and rarely presents unpleasant surprises. The most common drawback of this engine is the short service life of the crankshaft rear oil seal; on most copies it lasts no more than 70,000 km. But, a more powerful 3.2 engine can hit the family budget very hard. The biggest disadvantage of this power unit is considered to be the short service life of the timing chain; replacement may be required after 50-60 thousand kilometers, and its cost will be unpleasantly surprising (600-800 USD). The presence of a problem will be indicated by the appearance of a rumble when starting a cold engine, deterioration in dynamics, as well as the “Check” indicator on the instrument panel. To extend the life of the chain, service technicians recommend changing the oil at least once every 10,000 km.

Common, common problems with gasoline engines include difficult starting, freezing of the throttle valve in severe frosts, and malfunctions of the computer. Most problems with diesel engines occur as a result of untimely maintenance and refueling with low-quality fuel. Typical problems with these power units include: premature failure of the fuel level sensor and valve EGR. After 150,000 km, there is a high probability of failure injection pump.

Transmission

The Opel Antara is equipped with two types of gearboxes: manual and automatic transmission (before 2011 five-speed, after - six-speed). Both transmissions have proven themselves only on the positive side and do not cause any complaints. Even the clutch in a manual transmission, under average loads, lasts more than 100,000 km. A new clutch kit will cost 400-600 USD. Automatic transmissions, with timely maintenance ( oil change every 60,000 km), serve 250-300 thousand km.

All versions of the car are equipped with an all-wheel drive system; if we talk about its reliability and performance characteristics, then there are certain nuances. Most often, owners complain about late connection of the rear axle ( standard front wheel drive car). The main culprit for this shortcoming is the electromagnetic clutch ( The manufacturer does not recognize this feature as a breakdown). On cars with a mileage of more than 100,000 km, the rear axle gearbox seals begin to leak; with the onset of cold weather, this problem gets worse. During intensive use of the car in the " offroad", the driveshaft outboard bearing fails prematurely. Once every 60-80 thousand km, the driveshaft crosspieces become unusable. The problem is manifested by an increase in vibrations at speeds above 60 km/h.

Features and disadvantages of the used Opel Antara chassis

The Opel Antara is equipped with an independent suspension: front – McPherson, behind - multi-lever. The suspension is quite stiff, but thanks to this, the car confidently corners even at high speeds. If we talk about the service life of the chassis, it directly depends on the operating conditions. Under average loads, the stabilizer struts and bushings last up to 40,000 km, the front shock absorbers don’t last much longer, 60-80 thousand km (70-100 cu. pcs.), the rear ones - up to 100,000 km. Silent blocks of levers, ball joints, support and wheel bearings, in most cases, are changed at a mileage of 100-120 thousand km.

One of the weak points of the Opel Antara is the steering mechanism. The most common problem is a knocking steering rack; the knocking appears after 50,000 km; closer to 100,000 km, the rack begins to leak. Replacing the rack is not cheap ( original 800 USD), plus not a single service will give you a guarantee that it will not knock after 30-40 thousand km. Many owners, in order to save money, restore the rack by replacing plastic bushings, but, in most cases, such repairs are enough for no more than 10-15 thousand kilometers. On cars with a mileage of more than 100,000 km, there is a high probability of failure of the steering shaft crosspieces; the problem manifests itself as a knocking sound when turning the steering wheel.

Salon

The interior of the Opel Antara is made of high-quality materials, thanks to this, even after many years of operation it is practically not bothered by extraneous sounds. The only place where a squeak can be heard is the junction of hard and soft plastic in the area of the windshield. On cars after restyling, due to poor-quality fasteners, the protective cover of the speaker installed on the front panel falls off. Owners often complain about play in the driver's seat; the problem is solved by replacing the slide. As for the reliability of the electrical equipment in the cabin, there are few problems here. The main one is the noise of the stove motor ( squeak, whistle), when calling for service, dealers offer to replace the motor (200 cu). Due to poor contact in the connectors, sensors do not work correctly ABS,ESP and airbags, sensor failures are indicated by a system malfunction warning on the instrument panel. The problem is resolved by reconnecting the connector. Audio system speakers are not famous for their reliability ( over time they begin to wheeze).

Result:

The Opel Antara is not without its shortcomings and “childhood sores”, despite this, it cannot be classified as an unreliable car, since the main components and assemblies have a fairly long service life and are not often bothered by breakdowns. Also, you should take into account the fact that most serious problems arise as a result of improper operation of the car.

Advantages:

  • Four-wheel drive.
  • High-quality finishing materials.
  • Good handling.

Flaws:

  • High fuel consumption.
  • Unreliable steering mechanism.
  • Small timing chain resource.
