Volkswagen Passat CC: ground clearance and body kit

The Volkswagen Passat CC is a four-door coupe of the Volkswagen Group, which has been mass-produced since 2008. The car is considered one of the most prestigious business class models. He has received many international awards, including:

  • Red dot Design Award - an authoritative award among designers, received by Martin Kropp for the development of the exterior of the Passat CC;
  • Car of the Year 2015 is a prestigious award given by the jury of the annual competition held as part of the Geneva Motor Show.

Getting acquainted with the parameters of this far from cheap car, the potential owner should carefully familiarize himself with its technical parameters, while highlighting for himself those or other characteristics that, in his opinion, seem especially significant. At the same time, there are a number of indicators that are equally important for all car owners, and among them clearance (ground clearance) is not the last place - the distance from the roadbed to the lowest point of the Volkswagen Passat CC.

Important! For those motorists who, due to their status, pay more attention to the exclusivity of appearance, the designers of the Volkswagen Group have developed a special R-Line body kit, with which the Passat CC looks even more elegant and dynamic.

Clearance

The value of ground clearance in many cases is of great practical importance. This is especially true for vehicles with all-wheel drive, which include some modifications of the Volkswagen Passat CC, equipped with a modern 4MOTION drive. The presence of all-wheel drive, along with high ground clearance, implies the possibility of going out into nature, making it possible to easily overcome a road curb or snow drift.

Volkswagen Passat CC is a comfortable high-speed car, as evidenced by the abbreviation in its name (CC - Comfort Coupe). In order to ensure the necessary stability on the road while driving, its center of gravity should be located as low as possible. This is the reason for the low ground clearance, which is only 135 mm (normative value). In addition, the car is equipped with a soft suspension, which, while providing a high level of comfort in the cabin, helps to reduce the ground clearance under the action of the permissible load (passengers + cargo in the trunk) to 120 mm.

Given the not the best condition of domestic roads, we have to admit that the clearance of the Volkswagen Passat CC, the value of which is in the range of 120 ... 135 mm, is in many cases insufficient. However, there are several, relatively simple, ways to increase it:

  1. Install a special “Bad Roads” package developed by the Volkswagen Group specifically for Russia. Its use increases the clearance to 154 mm. With a maximum load, the clearance of the Passat CC will decrease to 127 mm. The package is ordered from the dealer and installed by him.
  2. The easiest way is to install larger drives. This will raise the Passat CC by 2...3 cm.
  3. You can increase the clearance on the Passat CC by installing sports shock absorbers and / or sport-type springs. The stem of the sports shock absorber is longer than those usually installed on cars, so the car will rise a few centimeters. Sports type springs have one extra coil, which will make the car much higher. These improvements will maximize the clearance of the Volkswagen Passat CC, but will significantly worsen its handling and stability on the road due to a shift in the center of gravity. In addition, the car will become less comfortable, as the sports suspension has more rigidity.

R-line body kit

Developed by specialists from the American division of the Volkswagen Group, the original design of the R-Line body kit turned the Passat CC into a truly exclusive premium car.

The body kit R-Line includes such elements as:

  • radiator grille, the shape of which gives the car a more sporty look;
  • bi-xenon headlights;
  • aggressive-looking front bumper with spectacular fog lights integrated into it with chrome trim;
  • embossed door sills;
  • Mallory alloy wheels with 235/40 tires.

Volkswagen Passat CC in the R-Line configuration is also equipped with a multifunction steering wheel, which is equipped with paddle shifters and navigation system RNS 315. In this configuration, the consumer also has access to the functions of adaptive high beam headlights and dynamic cornering lights.

Do not stay away from the original car, which combines the prestige of a sedan and the expressiveness of a Coupe, numerous, including eminent, tuning studios. After all, there is a huge competition between them. This is especially true for cars produced under the Volkswagen brand, which is considered one of the leaders in the automotive market. Almost every day, more and more new details are being developed, with the help of which the consumer can distinguish his car (and often his beloved one). These details include:

  • all sorts of spoilers;
  • pads for bumpers, headlights, taillights, pedals, etc.;
  • thresholds;
  • roof rails (longitudinal and transverse);
  • screw suspension, etc.

For example, Volkswagen's embedded LED logos have recently become popular, providing its laser projection on the roadway under the door when leaving the car.

Advice! Tuning studios, trying to improve something in a car like the Passat CC, offer consumers complex tuning kits that can give it additional expressiveness.
