Not so long ago, it became known about the implementation of a minor restyling of the Mitsubishi ASX, as a result of which the crossover received a new finish for some interior elements, as well as minor improvements to the exterior design.
In general, the abbreviation ASX in its full form sounds like Active Sport X-over, translated into Russian - “crossover for active driving”. Thus, the creator expressed the basic concept that the developers were guided by when creating the car.
Following such a landmark can be traced already in the external design of the car. The new Mitsubishi ASX is dynamic and modern, and in some elements it looks like a full-fledged powerful SUV designed for real off-road driving.
The changes primarily affected the bumpers, with the most noticeable changes being the front bumper, which now looks more solid due to the elimination of a large lower contrasting insert and an updated fog lamp fit. The radiator grille pattern has also undergone some transformations. In addition, a large number of chrome parts appeared in the appearance, which added elegance and style to the crossover.
As for the interior design of the cabin, there are much fewer changes. The salon is also a five-seater, elements on the dashboard are also located. Well, the most significant changes are the new steering wheel, the use of more expensive and high-quality materials in the decoration of seats. Just like in appearance, a lot of chrome inserts appeared on the inside, which are located on the door panels. In our country, the new generation Mitsubishi ASX crossover, as before, is offered exclusively with gasoline engines, while versions with a diesel engine are also available in Europe and the USA.
It was decided not to supply the diesel power unit to Russia and the CIS countries due to the poor quality of diesel fuel, which can render the engine unusable in a very short time.
However, the range of ASX gasoline engines is quite extensive and includes three engines that can satisfy the needs of any customer:
1. Four-cylinder engine, designed back in 2004, but has undergone some changes since then. Such a unit was designed on the basis of an all-aluminum block and equipped with a distributed injection system. It is also characterized by a chain drive with two camshafts. The main characteristics of this engine are as follows:
- A working volume of 1.6 liters, allowing you to develop power up to 117 hp. at 6100 rpm;
- The peak torque of such a motor is 154 Nm at 4000 rpm, which accelerates the car to 183 km / h, and also allows you to accelerate to 100 km / h in 11.4 seconds;
- Compliance with the requirements of European standards, which contributes to its efficiency. Thus, the average fuel consumption in the urban cycle is close to 7.8 liters, outside the city, fuel costs are reduced to 5.0 liters, and in the combined cycle, the car consumes about 6.1 liters of fuel.
2. Four-cylinder power unit made of aluminum and equipped with a multiport injection system, camshafts and an electronic valve timing system. Main performance indicators:
- A working volume of 1.8 liters, capable of developing a maximum power of 140 hp. at 6000 rpm;
- The maximum torque is 177 Nm at 4200 rpm, helping the Mitsubishi ASX reach a top speed of 186 km/h and accelerate to 100 km/h in 13.1 seconds;
- Compliance with environmental standards with gasoline consumption in the city of about 9.8 liters. Outside the city, consumption drops to 6.4 liters of fuel, and in mixed driving mode, fuel consumption will be approximately 7.6 liters.
3. Well, and finally, the main gasoline engine for Mitsubishi ASX is the engine, the working volume of four cylinders of which is increased to 2.0 liters. This unit has the following main characteristics:
- power of 150 hp at 6000 rpm;
- maximum torque is 197 Nm at 4200 rpm;
- the ability to accelerate to a maximum speed of 188 km / h, and to a speed of 100 km / h, acceleration is carried out in 11.9 seconds;
- due to the fact that such a motor is installed for ASX modifications with all-wheel drive, it is not economical. So, 6.8 liters will be fuel consumption on the highway, 10.5 liters in urban driving mode and 8.1 liters in the combined cycle.
The junior power unit is equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox. And the other two motors are equipped with a continuously variable automatic transmission. Only versions with a 2.0-liter engine are equipped with an automatic all-wheel drive system. The rest of the engines are equipped with front-wheel drive modifications.
Safety, equipment and prices
In the new Mitsubishi ASX, some suspension characteristics were finalized, the quality of which approached the level of the Outlander, which contributed to the improvement of the crossover's driving performance. Also, the car was equipped with stiffer front arms and new shock absorbers, subjected to additional settings. MacPherson struts and an anti-roll bar are used at the front, and a multi-link suspension system is used at the rear. However, the indicated prices are valid only for car models painted in basic white. The choice of any other color provides for an additional payment of 11,000 rubles.
