Why the Lada Priora stove does not heat well and what to do. What should be done if the heating in the Lada Priora car does not work well Lada Priora does not heat the stove

With the onset of cold weather, the first malfunctions of the Lada Priora heater begin to appear. The situations may be different, in one case there may be problems with the fan, in the other with dampers, etc. Today we will tell you how to properly repair the stove on Priore with your own hands.

Problems in the engine cooling system?

As practice shows, most Priora stove malfunctions occur due to SOD (engine cooling system).

In this case, the procedure is as follows:

1. We check the level of coolant (coolant) in the expansion tank so that it is between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks. If the coolant has to be topped up all the time, then the cooling system is leaking somewhere. You should carefully inspect all pipes for leaks, and also tighten the clamps. By the way, in order for warm air to enter the cabin faster, many motorists in winter specially add coolant only to the “MIN” mark. After all, the less liquid there is in the system, the faster it will heat up.

2. We check the coolant circulation in the SOD, paying attention to the expansion tank.

Video example:

If there is no antifreeze circulation, or it is not sufficient, then the pump may be faulty (it should be replaced) or the cooling system is clogged.

If in a car (Priora is of most interest to us at this moment), then this situation causes a lot of inconvenience to the driver and passengers. In the summer, this problem is irrelevant, because no one is particularly worried about the condition of the heater. And only with the onset of cold weather, the vast majority of motorists are puzzled by the problem of a non-working heating system.

Possible causes of cold air supply

A common situation is when cold air blows from the Priora stove, there may be more than one reason for this. It is in determining the malfunction that the main problem lies. There may be several reasons why the stove on Priore does not blow:

  1. Failure of the engine cooling system is the most common problem. This is where the diagnosis should begin. In most cases, the Priore stove does not turn on for this very reason.
  2. Strongly, which should be replaced with a new one. This procedure should be performed every six months, without waiting for the moment when the stove starts blowing cold air.
  3. The stove on Priora blows badly, possibly due to a damper, which may be in a jammed state. It may not open fully, thus blocking the path to hot air flows.
  4. And also the problem may lie in the gearmotor. It needs to be checked to see if it works.
  5. If the stove on Priore does not work as you would like, then you should pay attention to the control unit.
  6. The temperature sensor can also have a negative effect on the performance of the heating system. To determine this moment, you will need to turn off the sensor and see how the heater will behave.

We carry out comprehensive diagnostics

Not so easy. Even experienced motorists cannot cope with this task quickly. In order not to do such a large amount of work in vain, it is better to first diagnose the heating system. You need to act as follows:

  1. We probe the channels through which the coolant enters the heater. They should be warm when the stove is on. In addition, when pressing on the main rubber hoses, resistance should be felt. If resistance is not felt, we can talk about a pump pump malfunction. This mechanism is responsible for creating the pressure of the fluid flows necessary for the normal operation of the heater.
  2. A little secret, perhaps, will be useful to the owners of Lada Priora: does the stove blow cold air for a long time and does not warm up as quickly as we would like? Then you can try to fill the coolant to the bottom mark in the reservoir. In this case, the liquid will warm up faster. If you practice this method, you will need to constantly check the coolant level.
  3. If working, then we can talk about a problem in the bearing, which is located on the electric fan. This situation cannot be ignored, since in the future the fan may jam and the repair will gain a much larger scale.
  4. Oven not working? Perhaps the problem is hidden in the F9 fuse with a rating of 25 A. Its functions are to protect the power electrical lines of the heater. A blown fuse must be replaced. If such a situation occurs with enviable constancy, then it is necessary to check all the electrical circuits of the heater, the insulation of the windings on the fan and the presence of an overload in the power circuit.

No heating at idle

This issue is not in vain submitted for separate consideration, since it worries many motorists and the solution to the problem can be much more difficult than one might expect. So, you have a Priora, the stove does not heat up at idle, although when the car is moving, the interior is heated in normal mode. There are also several possible reasons for this:

  1. Insufficient coolant level.
  2. Leaks that lead to a decrease in the level of antifreeze.
  3. Availability .

If the first two problems can be easily diagnosed and eliminated, then the situation with an air lock is much more complicated. If you have ruled out the first two reasons and the Priora stove still does not heat up at idle, you need to eliminate the air lock. You need to act as follows:

  1. We dismantle the screen from the engine.
  2. We lower the clamp, after which it is necessary to remove the throttle assembly heating tube. We choose any of the two.
  3. On the expansion tank, unscrew the cap. We place a clean rag on the neck and start blowing into the expansion tank. The air supply must be carried out until coolant begins to pour out of the tube, which was previously removed.
  4. We immediately put a tube on the fitting and carefully tighten the clamp.
  5. Installing the screen.

If the option of blowing the tank does not suit you, then you can go the other way. We warm up the engine so that the pressure in the heating system increases. After a while, we turn off the car and remove the hose from the heating of the throttle assembly. In this case, the cap from the tank does not need to be removed. As a result of high pressure, coolant will be forced out through the tube. It remains to place the tube on the fitting and tighten the clamp.

Now the Priora stove should not cause difficulties, you know how to fix malfunctions, as well as diagnose and identify the source of problems. Let the heater on your car always turn on, work properly and give comfort regardless of the weather outside the window.

Why does the stove not work on Lada Priora

Lada Priora is in many ways similar to its progenitor VAZ of the tenth family, including the heater device. The manufacturer decided to leave the principle of operation of the stove, replacing only some elements with new ones. Along with this, Lada Priora inherited familiar problems, for example, when the stove does not heat up and blows cold air.

Elements of the heating system (stove)

The fact that the Priory stove is 95% similar to the "ten" can be seen by the catalog numbers:

  1. Heater assembly (2170-8101012 or 2111-8101012-10).
  2. Airflow distribution gearmotor (2170-8127100). Distributes airflow to feet/face/windshield. It is located inside the dashboard.
  3. Cabin air temperature sensor (11186-8128050). Located on the ceiling.
  4. Heater control controller (KUO) or stove control unit (21703-8128020). The block on which the driver sets the parameters for the operation of the stove. Located on the panel.
  5. Resistor additional or additional resistor (2123-8118022). Determines the speed of the oven fan. Fixed in the engine compartment.
  6. Heater electric fan (2111-8118020). Located under the hood.
  7. Heater damper motor reducer (2110-8127200). Distributes air flows into the cabin (street / stove radiator). Inside the heater assembly.
  8. Air filter (2110-8122020).
  9. Stove radiator (2110-8101060). located inside the heater.

A malfunction of one of these elements causes problems in the operation of the stove.

The principle of operation of the stove

To independently determine the malfunction of the heater, you should understand the principle of its operation.

The heater control controller receives a signal from the passenger compartment temperature sensor and compares it with the temperature set by the driver. If there is a difference, then the KUO sends a signal to the stove gearmotor (located under the hood) to close or open the stove dampers by a certain amount for a greater supply of cold or hot air.

After setting the desired speed of the stove fan, the heater control controller sends a signal to an additional resistor (in the engine compartment), which, due to the built-in resistance, sends a corrected signal to the fan. At maximum speed, the resistor is not used and the electric fan rotates at maximum speed.

The direction of the air (face / legs / windshield) is determined by the driver, setting the required value on the KUO. After that, the signal goes to the airflow distribution gearmotor (inside the panel / dashboard), which moves the dampers in the right direction.

If the stove blows cold air (does not heat)

There may be several reasons why the Priory stove does not heat well (the percentage of breakdown according to the results of a survey among the owners of this car is indicated in brackets):

  1. Malfunction in the engine cooling system (the stove radiator is cold and cannot give off heat). Feel both heater radiator hoses, they should both be hot. Sometimes the reason lies in the radiator itself (defective, insufficiently productive) (8%).
  2. Dirty cabin filter. Try to temporarily remove the filter and check the operation of the stove (2%).
  3. The stove damper does not work, it just jammed (17%).
  4. Faulty stove gearmotor (16%).
  5. Cabin air temperature sensor defective. Try turning it off for a while and check the operation of the heater (6%).

Points 3-6 can also be the reason when only hot air from the stove constantly blows.

The mode switch does not work (face / legs / glass)

Possible reasons (in parentheses is the percentage of breakdowns according to the results of a survey among the owners of this car):

  1. The heater control controller is faulty (13%).
  2. The gearmotor for distributing the air flow inside the passenger compartment is faulty (8%).

The stove only works in position 4

If the first, second or third position of the stove does not work, therefore (the percentage of breakdowns according to the results of a survey among the owners of this car is indicated in brackets):

  1. Faulty stove resistor (7%).
  2. Faulty heater control unit (13%).

If the stove is noisy

Perhaps the bearing of the electric fan is buzzing (17%). Also, additional noise can be caused by a dry leaf that has fallen under its blades.

The oven does not turn on

  1. The fuse for the stove F9 (25A) has blown.
  2. Faulty heater control unit (13%).

Conclusion

The car heater is not a simple system, and according to the owners, it is not entirely reliable. Try to determine the malfunction of the stove, starting with a check, and then replacing parts with known good ones. Do not forget that the cause may also be in poor contact or a broken wiring in the car.

On a Lada Priora car, the heater is no longer just a stove. In fact, this is a complete climate control device. According to its characteristics, the Priory stove is not inferior to foreign devices of this type. But like any mechanism, the Priora stove can fail. In this article, an overview of the heater and the features of its repair.

Features of the Priora stove

The climate control of this car on some variants is designed for the installation of an air conditioner. Therefore, the device of this device in this case is slightly different than that of the VAZ-2110 heater. This article discusses the standard version of the heater. Although they have a lot in common. The composition of the stove (heater without air conditioning) "Priora" includes the following major components:

  1. Furnace body.
  2. Air duct system.
  3. Heater electronic control unit (ECU) with control console.

These are, so to speak, three basic nodes. All of them, except for the ECU, understand and are composed of various subsystems. In all fairness, the control unit, if desired, can also be disassembled. But you should not do this. This is a delicate electronic device, and only a specialist can repair it. But with the other two there are options.

Frame

After the control unit, the body of the stove is the most complex object. The fact is that it includes several elements:

  • Body consisting of two parts.
  • Blower motor with fan.
  • Small heating radiator with pipes.
  • Variable resistor.
  • Heater air damper.
  • Micromotor reducer, heater damper drive.
  • Cabin filter.

Attention! Air-conditioned Priora has additional elements in the climate control, but this is a separate topic that is not covered in this article.

All of these elements sometimes fail, and it is quite possible to replace them yourself, without resorting to the services of a specialist.

Location and access

As on the VAZ 2110 model and modifications, the heater is located outside the cabin. It is located in the engine compartment. Right under the windshield. It is separated from the engine by a special cloth and cardboard partition. And on top it is closed with a plastic double casing, which hides this compartment, in which, in addition to the heater, a brake vacuum and a wiper drive are installed.

To gain access to the Priory stove, these elements must be dismantled. Disconnect coolant hoses. Unscrew the 3 fixing nuts and remove the housing. This process is repeatedly described and shown in the attached video. Therefore, it is not worth repeating it here.

Cabin filter

Most often, it is this part that fails, or develops its resource. It is simply clogged with dirt and dust. This is expressed in a decrease in the intensity of the fan. Sometimes, it becomes dirty to such an extent that the fuse of the stove burns out. The load on the electric motor grows so much that the fuse simply “knocks out”. The purifier is located at the air inlet to the heater. Near the right wing of the car. It is closed with a decorative plastic cover.

Important! Don't expect pollution. It is recommended to periodically replace the filter 2 times a year. Spring and autumn.

Stove motor

To remove and replace the electric motor of the stove, on the Priore without air conditioning, the heater has to be completely dismantled. Or at least push it forward a little. The fact is that this motor is located on top of the Priory stove and is located under the supporting part of the windshield.

heater resistor

This element serves as a kind of fan speed switch. It has several levels of resistance. Each step is a speed. Resistor failure is easy to determine. If none of the speeds except the maximum works, then in 99 cases out of 100, this is precisely the resistor. And only in 1 switch, in the control unit.

It is also on top. But it is quite easy to remove without dismantling the entire stove. It is enough to remove the connector and unscrew 1 self-tapping screw fixing resistor. And that's it.

Micromotor reducer

In the Priory climate control system, there is no option to disconnect the radiator from the car's cooling system. That is, hot liquid constantly circulates in it. The supply of cold air is provided by directing the air flow from the fan using a special damper that blocks the radiator and passes the flow past.

This part is moved by a special device - a micromotor reducer. It is controlled by a control unit. It can also be replaced without completely removing the heater. Although it is located between the vacuum brake booster and the stove body. However, its diagnosis and replacement has features that will be described in a separate topic.

Heater air damper

One of the key devices of the system, despite its simplicity. The damper moves on an axis rotated by a micromotor reducer. It is located inside the Priory stove. Therefore, for repair or replacement, of course, the stove must be dismantled.

Attention! The first samples of dampers made of plastic needed repairs. Currently, aluminum dampers are being installed on the Priors. Therefore, there is no need to repair or replace them.

However, if there is still a Priora with a plastic shutter, then the drive protrusion may break off on it. It's pretty easy to determine this. Turn on the ignition, and having removed the casing that separates the niche with the heater from the engine compartment, observe the gearbox by switching the flow temperature control knob from hot to cold. You can see that the drive rod rotates, but the temperature does not change. So, the damper needs to be changed. This procedure will be covered in a separate article.

Radiator

And the main heating unit is the stove radiator. It is also located on the right side, near the damper actuator. Naturally, to replace it, the Priora stove will have to be removed. It is attached to the body with three screws. And after removing the heater, it is already easy to pull it out by unscrewing these screws. Clean the radiator seat and install a new one in place. This part is made of plastic and aluminum and cannot be repaired. Replacement only.

Important! When replacing the radiator, be sure to use a special adhesive sponge, it is glued to the sides and the end side of the radiator. This is necessary to avoid the formation of cracks from impacts on the body of the stove.

Determining the flow of the radiator is quite simple. Although on these heaters, the coolant does not enter the passenger compartment when leaking from the radiator, but when it appears, at any position of the evaporation damper, the evaporation instantly falls on the windshield. They form a clearly visible cloudy film with a sharp smell of antifreeze. This is a clear signal to replace the heater core.

Electronic heater control unit

This is a mini-computer with its own program. The convenience is that it is initially connected to the computer diagnostics channel. Therefore, many malfunctions can be detected by connecting diagnostics to the Priors diagnostic connector. But this interesting topic will be described in a separate article.

Useful video on the topic "Removing the stove" Priors ":

The main reasons for the breakdown of the stove in Lada Priora:

  • if air got into the heating system at the moment when you were replacing the coolant or if the main cylinder block was damaged;
  • if the stove heats up badly during fast movement, and well at low speed, then the problem is with the thermostat in the open position;
  • if the stove radiator is clogged, as insects, leaves, dust, sealant, water or low-quality antifreeze can get there;
  • in case of contamination of the cabin filter;
  • if the fan itself is out of order;
  • when bearings or brushes are worn;
  • problems with electronics;
  • if the radiator damper is damaged, there is no air access to the system;
  • the heater tap lever has worked, as the rubber bands have dried up, and in this case it is necessary to replace it with a new one along with the stove radiator;
  • the upper pipe is broken, it cannot be repaired, only a replacement with a new one;
  • the stove control unit may break and there will be interruptions in the operation of the fan;
  • malfunction of the air temperature sensor.

Over the entire existence of the car, Lada Priora has been constantly improved. There are all new models.

For example, the Priora hatchback car has the maximum configuration: ABC, climate control, heating, parking sensors, native music and much more. Its advantages are in a frisky engine, fuel consumption, reliability, a good stove and start up in any frost. The seat behind the wheel is very comfortable - the back does not get tired, and the legs do not numb. Previously, Lada Priora had one engine - a 16-valve engine that produced 98 horsepower. Now Lada Priora consists of two 16 valves and produces 98 and 106 horsepower.

The Lada Priora stove heats up badly with and without air conditioning

Nowadays, Lada Priora, equipped with an air conditioning system, will not surprise anyone. Air conditioning is an additional installation that increases the cost of the machine. It can be included in the package, and it can also be purchased after buying a car. This car was recently equipped with air conditioning.

It is worth considering when buying a car, do you need air conditioning in the kit. The suppliers of air conditioners for this car are Panasonic made in Taiwan or Korean Hello. These two types of air conditioners with their parts are designed by contractors and look basically the same in appearance. In the case of replacing the filter or belt in the air conditioner, you need to know its model and filter size.
