The first modification was produced until 1958, the GAZ 21 of the first sample can be easily recognized by the massive chrome line along the radiator grille, as well as by the star attached to the Volga radiator grille. The 21st Volga of the first sample sold 31,000 copies. There are many legends about how thick the metal from which the body of the 21st Volga is made. The thickness of the steel used for the bottom and roof is 1.1mm, the thickness of the steel used for the manufacture of body panels is 0.9mm. In 1958, the GAZ 21 was updated, the star became a thing of the past, from afar, the car of the 1958 model is easily distinguishable by 16 wide vertical slots in the radiator grille. In 1962, the last significant modernization of the Volga was carried out. Instead of 16 wide "slots", 36 narrow slots appeared on the radiator grille. Chrome moldings appeared on the front and rear fenders, and the famous Deer was gone
in the past, and the fangs were removed from the bumpers. The photo shows all three variations of the 21st Volga. The drag coefficient of the 21st Volga is 0.41.
