Kia Sorento 2013 - an updated look for mid-size crossovers

Well, the manufacturer's desire to change and improve its brand is quite natural - competitors, among which it is worth highlighting Hyundai Santa Fe, Mitsubishi Outlander and Nissan X-Trail, are stepping on their heels in the truest sense of the word.

What new products does Kia offer its customers, how radical are these changes, and how much will you have to pay for the brand new Kia Sorento 2012 - we will try to talk about this.

Specifications Kia Sorento (model range 2013)

Kia Sorento is a 5-door station wagon crossover equipped with a 4-cylinder 16-valve engine and a 6-speed gearbox. It has a fairly powerful wheelbase of 2700 mm and reaches a length of up to 468 cm. The curb weight of such a crossover is a little less than 2 tons, the ground clearance is 185 mm. The fuel tank capacity of the Kia Sorento is 70 liters.

This car in the 2013 model range will be presented on the market in various trim levels, which will give buyers some flexibility. Various options are available here:

With front or all-wheel drive;
on the mechanics or on the machine;
with petrol or diesel engine;
with a power plant of 175 or 197 hp;
engine size 2.2. or 2.4. thousand cm3.

Kia Sorento are equipped with either gasoline units with a working volume of 2.4 thousand cm3 and a power of 175 hp, or diesel power units with a volume of 2.2 thousand cm3 and a power of 197 hp. But this car cannot be called too fast - for example, the average acceleration time to 100 kilometers is about 10 seconds.

A significant advantage of diesel models is lower fuel consumption. So, if the Kia Sorento in gasoline version takes an average of 11-12 liters per 100 km around the city, then its diesel counterpart - from 7.5 to 8.8 liters per 100 kilometers. In highway mode, the difference in consumption is not so great, but also significant: 5-5.4 liters for a diesel engine versus 6.7-7 liters for gasoline.

Key Features and Changes in 2013 Kia Sorento Models

Only for the current 2012 year, Kia Sorento crossovers have already undergone two changes, and the second restyling was quite impressive. However, there were no radical changes in the technical part - all the changes relate mainly to the exterior of the car, as well as the design of its interior.

If we talk about changes in the "appearance" of the car, then they touched both the front and rear. A completely updated bumper, a new grille and headlights with LED dimensions - this is how the new “face” of the modern Kia Sorento now looks. The rear view of the crossover is also quite attractive - a brand new bumper, a modified shape of the fifth door and new headlights, again with LEDs. It's also worth mentioning the wider choice of wheels (for example, 19-inch alloys are now available), which can give the crossover an extra stylish look.

Changes have also been made to the filling of the Kia Sorento interior - here you can now see not only a new dashboard or center console with a color display, but also more solid buttons for the air conditioning control system. And in models with an automatic transmission, the shift lever has changed.

The chassis has not undergone any major changes. There have been only minor adjustments aimed at both increasing convenience for the driver and passengers, and improving the efficiency of the car. As before, the front suspension of the Kia Sorento uses McPherson struts, and all four wheels are equipped with disc brakes. But the rear suspension has changed - now it has new shock absorbers that increase ride comfort. In addition, the car is now equipped with Flex Steer steering, operating in three modes - Normal, Comfort, and Sport.
